Redhood didn't like people who took advantage of children. Fucking hated them.
So when he heard of a new crime lord employing children in there area, he had to put a bullet between that fucker's eyes. Apperently, the guy ran the original gang out of town and set the kids off on petty crime. Stealing money. Food, clothes, in some cases, even drugs.
Redhood stood outside an abandoned building, gun at the ready. There was no security, no goons. Did this guy know he was coming? Is this a trap? Redhood shook off his worries. No matter. He's just gotta get this bastard before it could get any worse.
He crept through raftors and boxes. He listened for footsteps. Step step step. The footsteps were heavy and dragging, sluggish. According to eye witnesses, the crime lord tended to drag his feet, maybe limp even.
Redhood slid out of hiding, pressed his gun up to the back of the man's head, and-
It was a kid. The kid turned around, so irely calm. His long black air hung down, obscuring his face, but Redhood could clearly see the way his pale sickly skin sank into his bones. How his dull blue eyes seamed to gloss over and stare into his soul. Almost daring him to pull the trigger. Yet, despite the dark of the warehouse, he almost seemed to glow.
"So?" He asked.
"Wha- so what?" Redhood asked. He was shaking. He hasn't put the gun down.
"Are you going to pull the trigger or not? I mean, you've got a clear shot. I just ask you to clean up after. The kids don't need to see that," The teen slowly blinked at him. Redhood slowly lowered the gun. Just a gang of kids run rampant, yeah. That's what this is.
The kid hummed and began to walk off. Redhood couldn't really call it walking or even limping. It looked more like dragging a nearly dead leg. Now that he was close, he could see it. The dragging leg, the dead arm in a sling. The lichtenberg scars crawled up his face, reaching his eye, blinded and half shut. How did this kid run a whole gang out of town?
Red Hood followed him. The kid only gave his a brief glance before shrugging. Redhood followed him to the back of the warehouse, where a group of kids slept. Redhood recognised them, street kids. All either homeless or too scared to go home.
"They helped me," the kid whispered, "I got rid of those people because I hated the way they hurt the people around them, and when I fell sick, those kids stepped up to help. The least I can do is give them a place to stay."
"You fell sick? You weren't always like this?"
"No. I used to be a lot stronger, braver," The kid gave a heavy sigh before slowly lowering himself to the ground. Crossing his legs and resting his head on his hand, "Now I can barely move without aching, I feel like an old man trapped in a teenager's body."
Redhood glanced between him and the sleeping kids. He was helping them, housing them. In return, they were stealing food and medicine for their sick friend, and Rehood almost shot him.
"My name is Danny, by the way," The kid- Danny grumbled.
Redhood sighed and sat down next to him, "Nice to meet you, Danny. I'm Redhood."

Since we all agree that people of the Alley of Crime adore Red Hood and believe in him, I think it is time to imagine Jason in a scene similar to the one from OG Spiderman, where his identity is accidentally outted in front of crowd of people, and they all are just choose to protect him and help him out.
So maybe Gotham is facing especially nasty trouble, and vigilantes are on the receiving end this time. So maybe Jason is thrown at the dirty Alley in his part of town, wounded, with helmet flying off, and there is just a crowd of people staring as bleeds out, astonished. And Jason thinks, oh, that's the end — he can go and shoot himself, honestly, because he just failed the man rule every vigilante have: never show your face, never reveal your identity.
But people are... helping him? His eyes are half-open, breath laboured and pained, but all he hears is gentle murmuring:
'God, he is just a kid...'
'He must be younger than my son.'
'Poor child...'
He feels soft elderly hand against his cheek as someone from the crowd, an ex nurse, comes closer to bandage his injuries, while a kid, barely with the size of his helmet, brings it back, sticking out their tongue as they try to place it back on his head, to hide his face.
'It is okay,' the old woman reassures him. 'You are safe with us, son. We hadn't seen anything.'
Jason's eyes sting, because, oh.
It is his people. He loves them. He will die for them.
And they love him just as much.
He still waits for someone to out him, though. But the week ends, the villain is out of the picture, and no one says a thing. The only proof that it ever happened is civilians, who keep waving at Jason — not Red Hood, just Jason — when their paths cross somewhere in the shops or streets.
And that's how he knows that it is them; it is them, and they keep him safe as much as he keeps safe them.
Roy and Lian go away for a week and Jason gets lonely so he goes to one of CatWomans safe houses.
Selina walking in seeing a six foot beefy ass Jason playing with one of her kittens: Hey…
Jason: Sup
Selina: Is Roy out of town?
Jason petting the loudest orange kitten she has: Yeah how’d you know
Okay okay, but imagine if Danny just stalks Damian. Like, he has decided that he shall become this child’s unofficial guardian angel. Because Ancients know he needs it.
So, one time Damian and Jon are out and Jon wants to go to the Arcade but Damian just says something rude and then…
Danny: *whispering in Damian’s ear* You should be nicer to your friend
Damian: Huh?! *looks around, only to find nothing*
And that’s not all. Over time, Damian starts noticing how this strange presence as he calls it starts acting more and more. Whispering advice or words of encouragement in his ear (or just flat-out scoldings), making items he had misplaced magically appear back on his room the next day, protecting him from any surprise attacks any time he lowers his guard (which happens very rarely).
Heck, once he even brought him a starving kitten he saw once in an alleyway that he was planning to adopt anyway!
The Batfamily is aware of it. They refuse to do anything because they are far too amused. If anything, they give Damian a thumbs up and a “good luck" before sending him his way.
It all ends up becoming too much for Damian to tracks down Constantine and tells him;
Damian: I am being haunted. This annoying pest won’t leave me alone. Get rid of it, or else!
Danny: *whispering on his ear again with a Disappointment Mom voice* What did we talk about?
Damian: *sighs and cringes at the same time, before putting on a smile that looks more like a grimace* Please?
how about that Stolen Sanguine college trio?

Danny is the newest member of the Wayne household, he doesn't know they're the various bats 'n' birds of Gotham, and they think he's a completely normal boy. Well, everyone except one person, who keeps running into Danny doing weird/spooky/concerning things when no one else is around.
Some details:
Why is Danny the newest Wayne? Adoption? Temporary foster while the JL investigates his parents for supervillainy? In the walls AU?
Does Danny actually not know they're the bats? If he does know, does he know they don't know? Or does he think they know he knows and just aren't talking about it? If he knows they don't know he knows, is he desperate to "not find out" because he just wants to be normal?
Who is the one that KNOWS Danny ain't right? - Dick: lives in Bludhaven so isn't around much, but every time he is... - Jason: same as Dick but in Crime Alley and the addition of Danny fucking with his senses/the pits/what have you - Tim: whenever he brings up Danny weirdness he gets hit with "when was the last time you slept?" - Duke: he's got The Vision and can literally see things no one else can - Damian: everyone thinks he's just insecure/jealous about not being "the baby" anymore
Is Danny intentionally messing with one person? Or is this CW/Fate/the author messing with one person for funsies?
redrew another old print, this time we're goin ghost
am i doing phanart right
He's studying for the SAT, he's already been kidnapped by Vlad like, four times that week and it was a fucking Tuesday, he forgot his wallet at his new apartment, locked himself out of said new apartment (he could phase through the door but that wasn't the point), he's just been informed that the grant he applied for was denied so he needs to ask his mom and dad for college funds when he'd already told them he had it covered, and just...it was shit.
It had been shit. The entire week had been awful and annoying and he was ready to either murder everyone on the planet or go find a corner to cry in for the next three days.
So when the band of wild goons working for whatever villain of the week pulled up and tried to kidnap him, he snapped.
He used them to vent.
Shouted about how terrible his day had been, how terrible his week had been, how he'd already been kidnapped by his creepy godfather who was way too into him, how college funding was shit and the grant system was rigged, and how he'd have to call a locksmith or break down the door to his own apartment if he wanted to go to bed-all of it. He unloaded all of his frustration.
The goons actually backed off.
One of them gave him an awkward side hug and told him it'd get better.
Danny wasn't paying attention to his surrounding. He doesn't realize that the whole thing was livestreamed.
So when he gets home to his apartment later that day, his door is opened for him by the vigilante Spoiler before he can even turn intangible.
She brought over BatBurger and kidnapped Bruce Wayne, Gotham's bumbling Prince, to talk about college grants.
