I need to bring God Willing here too I'm sorry it's one of my favourite movies I cannot shut up this is a romantic comedy do not believe anyone but me. It's a horrible, horrible movie and I love it so much you have no idea
Kinda spoiling some very funny scenes in the beginning but like. The protagonist is this House type of obnoxious doctor. Terrible marriage, weird kids, a son who drops a "I'm leaving medschool" bomb at the dinner table. The man's devastated, until he sees the kis sneak out with some guy and goes "oh my son is gay that's why he's acting so weird and isn't focusing on his studies"
He prepares the whole family to be accepting for the big coming out but instead his son goes "I met this cool preacher, I will now become a preacher too"
Italian dad meltdown
The doc goes to see the preacher preach and thinks okay maybe fleabag was onto something
So he works out a whole identity fraud involving mastermind plan to dig up dirt on the funny-kind-hot-lovable-did-he-mention-hot priest, who eventually turns out to be an ex-felon
And I promise you they just straight up fall in love don't believe the script believe me
They restore an abandoned countryside chapel together you just do not understand oh my god
(It isn't exactly, like, christian propaganda movie too. The doc doesn't really end up changing his personal beliefs, it's a bit different)
So yeah please watch my favourite horribly funny romantic comedy that isn't really a romantic comedy

No actually let me explain the whole au because it's like a horrible y2k drama series. It somewhat follows the lore but with sci-fi tuned down a bit for the popstar drama
So, here Murdoc is trans and hides it from the public because he's Murdoc, and Noodle is either related to him or is his kid or something but instead of her canon origin she gets dropped off on Murdoc by someone from his past and he's stuck with her. He's bonkers in the head and horrible but there's like
Some minimal amount of trying and single parenting
Somewhere in the big in-band drama and many of Murdoc's disappearances he runs into Ace trying to start his big stage music gig and plays the evil producer man for him. Pretty, like, stereotypically, Ace's like 25, somewhat broke, somewhat silly, and Murdoc is well in his 30s, rich and insane. The problem is that Ace matches his bonkers energy perfectly and while Murdoc is in denial and "I'm just shaging my mentee like any other big musician" delusion Ace just wraps him around his finger. He's shameless about them, too, public and unapologetic and Murdoc doesn't even notice how he goes from producer man to Ace's groupie in public's eye. At some point reality and Ace's commitment catch up to him and he just runs for dear life, in love and pathetic and making everyone's lives 10x worse for next years
They go on and off their entire lives. Murdoc completely off the rails, Ace as his generally easy-going, kind, chill counterpart. He likes Murdoc for his brain and rare genuine affection, Murdoc is completely gone for him
So they just grow older, tired and less violent and Ace just never goes completely out of sight
I made like whole lore explanation for acedoc where they first met in person when Ace was like 25 and starting a music gig after years of disappearing like many teens actors do and Murdoc is really fucking embarrassed to commit to anything more than "oh I'm just shaging a young musician for fun"
Like whole plot do you understand a level of delusion
