I used to hate doing research and reading long articles, but I've been really enjoying it the last couple of days. I'm preparing my research for my Honors Anthropology project and I have found some pretty neat articles.
The current one I'm reading is about how video gamers have better cognitive processes than non-gamers do.
I wish I found this article when I first started playing so I could have convinced my mom to let me play more lol.

Learning about Subsistence Patterns and all the different ways cultures get (or have gotten) their food, and thought I would share a little.
This table shows some features of the major food-procurements. I thinks it's interesting that the more a culture relies on industrialized agriculture, the more separation of class becomes a part of that culture.
This is a map of known Hunter-gatherers throughout history. I wish this map also stated which were nomadic or semi-nomadic.
My Cultural Anthropology Professor shared this with our class today, so I thought I would share with you guys.
We were talking about silent language today and how some gestures we (Americans) used may not be carried out in the same context in other countries.

Today I found this little guy on the floor outside my Anthro class. I didn't want him to get smushed so I decided to bring him home.
Me: I really don't wanna go to class tomorrow. Just one day won't hurt.
Also me: does all the homework, sets alarm, goes to bed early

Got my next essay all outlined and (kinda) ready to go. I have to have it finished by tomorrow, but all I really want to do is decorate for Halloween!
Six and a half hours later and my essay is finished! Don't really like the flow of the last two paragraphs, but it is only the rough draft. Ready for peer review tomorrow!
And now to reward my self....with more writing haha. But I'll be working towards one if my own fictions, so it is its own reward.

No class on Fridays! But I still have a lot of work to do today. Chapters to read and essays to write.
But first, I'm going to ease into it with my current fun read: The Sixth Extinction by Elizabeth Kolbert. Accompanying me is my baby girl Dill and a chai coffee in my awesome Lord of the Flies mug.

Had my first Cultural Anthropology test today and got done in about 30 minutes. 25 multiple choice question and five short essay responses.

Working on the final draft of my English essay and watching some old X-Files. I know I probably shouldn't watch TV while I do my homewaork....but my brain will die of boredom if I dont have some sort of entertainment going on.
I just wanted to make a post for anyone starting college/university at an older age.
I'm 24 and most of my classmates are fresh out of high school, which is great for them!
But I just wanted to say that it's never too late, for anyone. You can still work to improve your future even if you feel like a late starter.
Put yourself out there! Do it for you! Work towards your goals!

Today, I signed up for honors in my Cultural Anthropology class. I get to write my first full length enthrography (i also get to do a mini ethnography as a part of the regular assignments)
I feel pretty good about taking on an extra responsibility.

finally finished the rough draft for my first English essay of the semester. Four hours well spent...now to rest my little fingers.
I also feel like doing the 100 days of productivity is going to make me more accountable for my homework.

Today I finished up some slideshow notes for Antropology and the outline for my first essay for my English class.

Productivity! Day one
Today is my 24th birthday, so I thought that it would be the best day to start my 100 days of productivity!
For my first productive day I cleaned and organized my office, because a cluttered desk is not a happy desk!
This is my fiction and story writing bookshelf. Along with some of my pop culture collection.

And this is my super awesome birthday present from my husband! I haven't named him yet but I did put a snazzy lab coat on him.
And finally my desk! That has a bunch of homework that needs done. But it's a lot more organized than it was..cuz I'm messy.
Also since falling is almost here I have changed to my fall scented waxes, toffee crumb and pumpkin spice!

I'm a freshman at community college
I'm 24 (I took off schooling to take care of my mom from age 19 to 21)
My major is anthropology (if you couldn't tell from my username)
I'm originally from Colorado but I'm currently living in San Diego, Ca
My goals this year:
Pass all my classes (obviously right?)
Do all my readings BEFORE class
Do all the extra credit!
Complete at least one honors class (just signed up for honors english)
Meet new people (did I mention I was shy?)
Learn a new language (currently learning Norwegian on duolingo)
