Push Yourself To Do The Hard Yards. If We Always Listened To That Sneaky Part Of Ourselves, Humans Never

push yourself to do the hard yards. if we always listened to that sneaky part of ourselves, humans never would’ve achieved anything. stay up a little later, wake up a little earlier, turn on that website blocker a little longer and always remember that success is something you need to work for every single day, no matter how you feel or how many people tell you that you can’t do it, even if one of those people is yourself. no one is guaranteed to stay in your life, not even the people you think will be with you forever (especially those people), so how about you set up your life instead of wasting it away focusing on other people. and always remember that setbacks are a given, but you’ve gotta get out of there, for your own sake.

Jeez, long time no see! I hope to start making some more original content again over the next few months seeing as the uni grind is beginning once again. I’m currently starting some research towards my dissertation on gender in early modern england (can’t believe i’m going into the last year of this degree…)

It’s been a whirlwind couple of months, for me and like,, everyone else on the planet- got my second year feedback and averaged a high 2:1- relieved to say in the least! Whilst I’m back on the grind now, here are a couple of productive things I’ve found great for filling up my free time:

1) Learning a new skill- I’ve always wanted to try out yoga and meditation, seeing as I’m neither peaceful nor flexible. I try to practice 3x a week, and I’ve already noticed improvements in my breathing and flexibility, and I’m just feeling a whole lot calmer! Think of A Thing you’ve always wanted to try, but put off because you thought you’d be no good at it, and give it a good stab while you’ve got the free time.

2) Reading. All. The. Books. I set myself a challenge to read thirty books before results day, to keep my mind off of it all- proud that I’ve succeeded! Reading is such a peaceful, productive passivity and I will never cease to shut up about it.

3) If you can, getting outside for a good long walk. In this heat, a good 2 hour walk around my area with my boyfriend, or a podcast, has been a really nice substitute for more high intensity cardio. It’s also a good idea if you’re looking for ways to get outside without putting yourself in a high risk environment- changing up your regular route can be the greatest little adventure! I somehow ended up by the Thames a couple of days back, which was so cool.

4) Pick up some extra qualifications to boost your CV! I work part time in childcare, and am interested in teaching, so I got a little online certification in developmental psych to stick on my CV.

5) NETFLIX. So much netflix. Good binge- able shows I’ve been loving include The Umbrella Academy, The Sinner, Nightflyers, and Another Life. Also, I rewatch brooklyn nine nine every. damn. day.

Hope you guys are safe, and well!

My kind of academia aesthetic

Listening to Chopin, Beethoven, Mahler, Debussy and Ravel and closing my eyes when the best part comes on

Going insane when the author I'm studying does something great-incredible-admirable as I start to fall in love with him/her

Thanking artists for sharing their art and assuring them silently that their message arrived

Trying ballet steps whenever I come across a mirror + the sound of pointe shoes, theatre's particular smell, tearing up after curtain calls, reharsing pantomime in an empty studio

Heart clenching all the time when a piece of art just strikes me good

Feeling spiritually connected and dreaming to have a chat with Virginia Woolf, maybe while drinking some tea

Knowing Opera arias by heart and humming the melody while busy doing something

Also, being super excited when it's almost theatre time! Like soooo excited! Can't wait!

Studying in an ancient benedictine monastery in Sicily and exploring every inch of it, walking a lot randomly and finding new pretty and quiet places to stay in

Looking up during a boring class and contemplating old frescoes on the ceiling

Tying ribbons in my hair

Ranting angrily about Lancelot in "Le chevalier de la charrete" to my best friend who absolutely had no idea about what was going on

Randomly telling my brother things I learned and him asking for more because I usually make him laugh a lot

Bragging about how much I love every subject I study and absolutely not regretting my choice

Smiling while reading because that passage was sooooo smart-written

FEMINIST. APPROACHES. AND. WARRIOR. WOMEN. IN. LITERATURE.

Taking pictures of the sky everywhere because I always look at it as the ultimate source of beauty

Intense philosophy lessons during summer, held by my father who studies philosophy just because he loves it, and exchanging facts about it during the day

Writing frantically my book's next chapter on the bus during my way home because I were daydreaming so hard about it before (+ my friend telling me it's as good as poetry)

Saving all the exhibition tickets I have been to

Being humble and ambitious at the same time

Telling everyone i'm studying humanities because the worlds needs to change and them not understanding how the two things are linked

things that have changed since starving myself & becoming "the pretty girl" from a fat girl's pov:

it's not ok how everything has changed. people treat me like a person now. there is such thing as skinny privilege. I'm walking living proof. I was fat all throughout childhood up till my teens, very bullied, avoided, nobody fucking loved me.

it's a huge change to go through having to have so much personality to make up for being ugly just for some positive human contact to being the girl everyone wants to have a piece of. it's so much change to be constantly isolated so painfully just wanting to be loved & understood to me now being flooded with people.

I get so much attention, respect, free stuff, so many life opportunities have opened, there's so much more potential as if my life was worthless before.

it's scary how much my life has gone full 360 from having this eating disorder.

downside of this all is it's made the world scarier at the same time. I was hidden for so long, I sometimes find myself almost longing for my old superpower of being undesirable. Men randomly walk closer, talk more, are more sexually advancing and are more persistent.

Men have changed the most to my weightloss and it's scary. I cant leave my house alone (but good thing I have this eating disorder or else I would've never met my best friend who saved my ass & now I live with)

It's not fair to think my whole life would've been different if I was thin growing up. So much was taken away from me just from not being a pretty girl.

this little girl's whole life was determined by how pretty she was from the time she started kindergarten.

I had to start killing myself just for some love and attention and along the way I got the world. that's fucking sad. I now have to live with knowing my eating disorder moved my life forward and the fear of it all going away.

I'm Pro Recovery, I don't want anyone to read this and think "this will solve all my problems" cause that's bullshit. I'm sick. This is a disorder, in the long run it doesn't stay pretty. I've gone to residential and am consistently trying to recover, it's a never ending battle.

It's devastating knowing that being female my whole life from childhood to death is majorly affected by how pretty I am. children don't deserve that. Women don't deserve that.

All About Auras

All About Auras

An aura could best be described as the energy given off by someone or something. Supposedly, everything has an aura, even an apple. Many people are able to either see or ‘sense’ auras, which may appear as a haze of light or colour surrounding something.

The colour an aura appears can have many correspondences, which can relate to someone’s mood or spirituality, or can be because of external factors such as light intensity. It’s even said to be possible to tell if someone is pregnant from the way their aura appears.

Common misconceptions about auras:

It is always the same colour.  - This is untrue, as auras tend to change colour when affected by many different factors. However one colour may be dominant.

It is always the same shape and texture.  - Nope, they could appear hazy, smooth, or spiky. Some could have auras spanning an inch from their bodies, but others could have auras reaching out to a metre.

There is scientific evidence for auras.  - Again, untrue. Despite many people being able to see auras, there is no way to measure them or comprehend why it is even there.

Your aura is a shield.  - Whilst it’s possible to utilise your energy to shield yourself from things through visualisation, your aura alone is by no means a barrier against spirits and vampire-like entities looking to ‘feed off’ your energy. Learn how to ward yourself.

There is only one colour at a time.  - Your visible aura can actually be a mix of colours. However, there are also seven different extents of your aura, ranging from physical to spiritual, which could all be a different colour at one time.

It is especially important to note that auras are constantly changing. This could be seen as Anicca, or impermanence, in which the Buddha taught that nothing is permanent and everything is constantly changing. The aura reflects this truth in ourselves and those around us.

Seeing Your Aura

Some people are able to see auras with ease without a whole lot of practice, whereas others might never be able to comprehend the aura. It is common for many witches to practice with seeing their aura.

Here is a simple exercise which will help you to begin seeing your aura. This is what I tend to get people to do often when starting with auras. If inexperienced, it is important to practice often in order to get better!

You may want to begin by meditating or casting a circle in order to have a better focus on your aura. Make sure you are calm and in the mindset to concentrate.

Find a blank area, such as a white wall or a sheet of paper, and hold your hand out to it. It is important that you don’t get distracted by the colour of the wall or anything on it.

Rather than focusing directly onto your hand, shift your gaze to look just past it. For instance just past your fingers, but not the space directly between your fingers.

Focus on this space. To avoid distracting yourself, practice steady breathing as you would in meditation.

Eventually, you should begin to see a haze of light surrounding your hand. At first it may appear small and even colourless, but keep practicing and you will start to see it even better.

Colour Correspondences

The colour of an aura can have many connotations, and can be dictated by thr shape and texture too. But here is a guide to help you with the typical deciption of simple aura colours.

RED -

Centred/grounded, passion, anger, energetic.

ORANGE -

Power, confidence, outgoing, good health.

YELLOW -

Spiritual awakening/awareness, playful, happiness.

GREEN -

Healing, good communication, jealousy.

BLUE -

Intuition, calm, clairvoyance, honesty, fear of the future.

PURPLE -

Daydreaming, spirituality, artistic, psychic abilities.

WHITE -

Newness, purity, reaching enlightenment, angelic.

BLACK -

Negative feelings, blocked energy, potential illness.

BROWN -

Grounded, tied to the outdoors, afraid to let go.

PINK -

Loving, sensual, psychic gifts, dishonesty.

SILVER -

Physical and spiritual wealth, awakening of higher thought.

GOLD -

Enlightenment, protection from divine entities, guidance.

RAINBOW -

A rainbow aura can indicate a healer, a new soul, or reaching enlightenment.

Let’s Talk About Cleansing! 💨 ⁣

Let’s talk about cleansing! 💨 ⁣

Sage. Rosemary. Frankincense.⁣

These are my go-to cleansing tools. In terms of magic & the craft, I personally favor anything that involves fire or burning, as it seems to be most effective for me. Sage & rosemary I use for cleansing bigger areas, with a deeper impact. The Frankincense incense I use whenever I just have to do one room, cleanse myself, or when the “vibe just feels off.” Most of the time, I light these up, open my windows, and walk around like the crazy witch I am holding a smoking plant or stick above my head. ⁣

Sage🌱 all cleansing! This not only gets rid of bad energies, but also the good! Sage cleansing creates an open space for any and everything, so I NEVER just use sage and call it a day. When using sage, always replace whatever you just clearned with good energies. This can be done by burning incense right after(that’s what I do), spraying a mist for whatever intention you want, visualizing white light, etc. I sage with the windows open, and incense fill the space with the windows closed. *** SAGE CLEANSING IS NOT SMUDGING. Smudging is a deeply sacred CLOSED practice specific to First Nation people… So the next time I see a Becky at Coachella burning sage to cover up the smell of her own sweat, if she says she’s smudging, I’m going OFF😂⁣

Rosemary 🌿 has a ton of magical uses; however, for cleansing it’s super effective. I like to use it specifically for spaces I do any spell work in, or read cards in. It helps enhance psychic abilities, purifies negative energies, and improves mental clarity.⁣

Frankincense🔥 as incense is my preferred method of every day cleansing, and also offerings to both my Kemetic and Norse gods. It corresponds with protection, prosperity, and specifically when burned helps relieve anxiety + stress. I find it works really well when I feel something off during a reading or when I don’t want to sage my whole house.⁣

These are my methods of cleansing, but there’s tons of others! The next time you just want to reset the vibes, or clear out some unwanted energies, here’s some ways you can do it! ✨Witch frens, how do you cleanse???

This Icelandic manuscript of magic, known as the “Huld” manuscript, presumably derives its name from the word “hulda” meaning secrecy, and was compiled from three older sources by Geir Vigfússon in 1860. These ten selected pages from the manuscript feature “stafir,” or what we might call sigils today.

For the description and purpose of each sigil, click “keep reading.”

i always apologize for doing some stuff for myself only, for sometimes not considering anyone’s opinion, but then, she is not hungry and i just ask to go to one place, and we go where she wants, i’m not saying anything yet, they don’t serve us there and i’m hungry. once again i ask to go to the place i’m saying and she agrees until she makes a whole drama out of it, because once in a life time stuff didn’t go as she wanted and once again she takes me where she wants, and gets mad at me for not wanting to eat anything from there cuz i didn’t want, calls me piece of shit, ungrateful bitch, and says that i should die. honestly ?i think she is right
