My weekend was spent in mourning due to the horrifying news that a friend and beloved teacher at my daughter's daycare, and her unborn baby girl, had been killed in a car accident. All my love and support are with the family and friends grieving right now. Adding to that sadness was also the grim realization that this weekend marked the one year anniversary of another beloved friend's death. She was one of my first friends upon moving to the States and she unequivocally accepted and supported me. I will always regret not spending more time with her. These two women made me aspire and be a better version of myself. And they had that effect on everyone they met. Tell your friends and loved ones how much you care about them and appreciate them every day. ❤

Yay! Book mail arrived today! I ordered The Sleeper and The Spindle, by Neil Gaiman, Stardust, also by Neil Gaiman (my first copy disappeared under mysterious circumstances several years ago when I was at University), and for a bit of fun I also ordered Doll Hangouts from @americangirlbrand American Girl Publishing. I read chapter books to Leocadia. She loves that she has to wait for each new chapter to find out where the story is going. Her favorite thus far has been Coraline, by Neil Gaiman, and once I'm finished reading that book, I shall read Stardust to her. After that, I'm going to introduce her to Madeline L'Engle and her Wrinkle in Time series. She doesn't mind if there are no pictures. She pays attention and asks questions when she doesn't understand something, and she always, always, wants me to read more. And that makes me a very happy mommy!❤

We went to our local Wal-Mart after gymnastics class tonight. I'm in love with the #mladolls Farm Stand😍 I had to convince Leocadia we couldn't buy it because mommy had a #budget 😔. We DID find a "Forces of Destiny" Princess Leia for $5 (despite the tag saying $13😁), a #mladolls Ironing Laundry set for $2, and a couple Disney Happy Places blind boxes on Rollback. So we scooped them up and brought them home🦊❤ They have been placed in the Box of Holding for gifting later on. Ever on the hunt for doll-stuff (even if i dont buy any of it) I found a mini record player that plays tiny records!😍 The box says the records play about 30 seconds of music, and there is a popular song on each of the records🎶 I also found a couple cute fairy garden kits! These would be perfect for tiny dolls like Calico Critters. I had insomnia again last night, so I stayed up till 3 am and did some work. Needless to say, I didn't get up in time to take Leocadia to daycare. 😪🛏⏰😖☠ But here's the good news: The dollhouse Kitchen is finished!😄❤🦊 The rolling door works, there's plenty of room for the Leocadia and the dolls to play, and I am putting all other projects on hold until after the holiday season. I'll post more pics of the finished room soon. Right now, Leocadia is stocking it with all our doll kitchen stuff and food. I've made a *little* progress on the kitchen. I have the casing for the shelving up and all the raw edges and seams covered in paper. Admittedly, I still need to finish the windows, but I got the idea to make more shelving and a sliding door, so...here I am. 😄 Next up, making and covering the shelves in patterned paper, designing the railing and trolley system for the sliding door, making the door, and finally finishing the windows. You know, just a short list of things to do. Hopefully I won't get distrac-- Oh, look! It's finally starting act like autumn in Tennessee. It's raining. Yesterday was a balmy 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Today is around 50 and soggy. So I have a good reason to stay inside, drink more coffee and hot cocoa, and work on the dollhouse 😄 Incidentally, I decided around midnight, last night, to add onto the kitchen. Courtesy of @hgtv , the whole of the White House looks lovely (despite who's in it, the decorators always do their best 👍) but what is so jarring is this particular hallway. It's fugly. It should be in A Nightmare Before Christmas fan fic movie (And I love Nightmare Before Christmas). It makes zero sense with the rest of the House, unless the designer/decorator wanted to make a jarring and bleak statement about the current state of affairs...🤔 Anyways, I won't watch the HGTV special, since my 4 year old controls the TV.
