How adorable is this! ๐
Ok Gofukuya has once again stole my heart, I believe this cheeky seal is my favourite design in their catalogue (Look at that cute face <3 How one cannot love seals, they are basically sea puppies ^^)
It's time for Gion Matsuri which takes place during July in Kyoto, Japan. This is a vintage fan decorated to celebrate the festival. I think this may be the Ofune-Biko float in the Minami-Kannon-Yama district. Or it may just be part of the many lanterns on display in the district on Yoiyama evening as that float wasn't seen for 150 years until it made its return in 2014. #Kyoto #gionmatsuri #sensu #fan
This is the lovely kimono that I am so proud to own! A few years back, Umeno okiya was selling a few of their pieces, and I was so privileged to be able to purchase this. I feel like I was able to contribute in my small way to the purchase of new hikizuri for the okiya. ๐๐ To have a piece that belonged to the beautiful and talented ladies at Umeno is beyond perfect. ๐๐๐ผ

Every time I see a photo of this kimono I want it more and more!! ๐๐๐
Great information in English about kimono wearing for men. This stuff is hard to find! Thanks. ๐๐
Kimono wearing tips for men, seen on. Like the ones you can find for women, those tips are pretty much adapted to traditional kimono etiquette. Everyday wearers take it a bit easier ;)
Unlike women, men wear their kimono collar close to neck.
Another trademark for menโs look is how the belt sits on wearerโs body. It has to be high on the back and low under the belly. This position is partly why some kimono wearers pad their tummy: men kimono+belt sits better when a bit chubby!
It is considered cute for women to walk with small inward steps. This gait is somehow linked to how women (can) dressed their kimono+juban (tighter on the legs than men).
You can avoid having your legs constricted by spreading your feet after dressing, like shown on picture above. This position will make kimono+juban split, loosening them and allowing you to walk more freely.
As men belt sits under the belly, collars tend to dishevel as moving. To correct that, first grab kimono collar near the neck and rectify by pullingย fabric, sliding your hands toward the belt. Then, reach below the belt and pull the excess fabric.
When on a chair, donโt sit on your haori (it will get bad wrinkles). It is better to raise the back of your coat before sitting so it doesnโt get caught under you. It is also advised to not lean against back of chairs.
I think ellensama's post says it all. โค๏ธ

I am just in love with this designer so badly. That hooded Haori is just pure fashion porn. This is like my traditional Japanese version of suit porn.

Rotties love expensive dried fruit like hoshigaki too! She deserves since she has been such a good girl about her eye meds. Seeing the doggie opthamologist tomorrow. #rottweiler #Rottie #rottiesofinstagram #hoshigaki #persimmon #DriedPersimmon
Just got my hoshigaki (hand-massaged, dried persimmons) in the mail. The several week process leaves a bloom of sugar from the fruit like a light frost. Jeff Rieger of Penryn Orchard is a one-man wonder! www.PenrynOrchardSpecialties.com. These are large, soft, and sweet. Yum-yum!! #hoshigaki #persimmon #DriedPersimon #japanesefood #japanesesnack
If I remember correctly, "E" is wearing a tsumugi, tsukesage kimono. I love the more formal tsumugis - that juxtaposition between formal and casual. Also her use here of the red accents turns this into a fun, young coordination!
โSโ showing off the gentle shades of her kimono and obi with a little bit of sparkle in her bag while attending the opening reception for the Timeless Transformation, Kimonos, Prints & Textiles at the Mansion at Strathmore. This coordination was so pretty with her complexion!
Lovely copper sculpture of floral kimono entitled "Wafuku" (Japanese traditional clothing) by Jaclyn Martin. The piece is installed for the Mansion at Strathmore exhibit Timeless Transformation, Kimono, Prints & Textiles. If I had the money and the place to put this, it would be mine! ๐
