Dungeon Meshi Bangkok AU
A very self serving au made by me for me, it’s quite hard to translate because the references I used here are very specific (unless you’re ver familiar with Thai culture I guess)
Here’s some tidbits ~
1. Izutsumi and Tade in thai highschool uniform. (I used to wear it and thought it’s not as cute as Japanese or Korean uniform, but now it’s apparently famous among Chinese tourists? You can rent a uniform if you visit bkk i think)
2. Buddha amulet collecting is a very stereotypical old man hobby here so I think it’s fun if Chilchuck is into that. People here believe that you cannot own a charm, statue or amulet which have a Buddhist connection since they will eventually be back to its holy place (temple), so they use the word rent instead.
3. Cook to order restaurant is basically a small restaurant, sometimes just a cart on a pavement with some table and chairs, that make quick local meals like pad kaprow.
4. Rice soup is just one of my favorite comfort dish, nothing important lol. But there are some restaurants making rice soup late at night for drunk people to have a hot meal.

Modern au where in Marcille (after begging for Chilchuck's permission for a long, long time) hangs out with his daugthers, to take them on a girls day/night out.
(I like to think that out of everyone in the group, Marcille would visit Chilchuck's family the most out of curiosity and fondnest. So at this point the girls are already familliar with her. And Marcille enjoys comparing the parallels of 'office' Chilchuck and 'family' Chilchuck.)
They go around, eating in cafes, going through shops, taking pictures, all the usual things you do when hanging out with friends. And they talk about Chilchuck.
*Marcille noticed that Chilchuck is emotionally distant with his family, so she tries to use this chance to talk him up to his kids.... but Chilchuck can sense bullshit (sort of)

thinking about chilchuck's halloween costume and the fact that his favorite monsters are coin bugs. his daughters are dressed as coin bugs. and treasure bugs eat mimics. should i kms. that's so cute
really wanted to capture this shot with chilchuck. obviously the mimic episode has a lot of really fun and impressive animation, but i was particularly charmed by this bit. there's something really satisfying and cute about the way he turns around and the counting gesture he does with his hand.
