Freedom Knight, the plaid barbarian.
A warrior from the centuries-gone Clan Hamish, or so he purports. Indeed his appearance, equipment, and attitude all align with historical accounts of the clan, so could he truly be from another era? Whatever the case, Freedom Knight doesn't care! He does, always has done, and always will do whatever he wants. As for what he wants? Mostly treasure, glory, widespread admiration, etc. Maybe pursue a romantic relationship if he meets the right woman (the right woman being either a fair, delicate maiden… or a massive, violent brute, maybe moreso than himself).
He fights with one (or both) of two weapons. The first is an especially heavy claymore, ideal for slashing through multiple opponents or one really big one. The second is a battleaxe, ideal for striking a specific area and cleaving straight through it. But in the end, his greatest weapon to many is his insufferable personality - he's arrogant, stubborn, impatient, unhygienic, and thickheaded. Not to mention his relentless and foulmouthed mockery of most people he encounters, and general tendency to needlessly escalate conflicts. He's not all bad, though. He can show at least some level of respect to those who fight on or above his level (or to scholars, strangely enough), making his insults more like friendly jabs. Just don't ever expect him to do what he's told.
hey remember when i said i was gonna work through posting my backlog of shovel knight OCs and then i didn't do that anyway ig continuing with the theme of mothers, here is Seria. she is Wizma's mother and also the absolute worst she was a powerful, narcissistic oracle from the same planet as Cardia, and the one who led her to King Knight via a false prophecy, scheming to create a power struggle and win favour by bringing a hero of her own to this end, she took on human form and lived on their planet, having a daughter she would raise to be a powerful mage. she lied to her daughter that successive generations of seers would invoke a curse, scaring Wizma off from using oracle magic and discovering the truth however, this happened anyway when Wizma's magic became proficient enough to protect her subconsciously. exposed, Seria switched to plan B and prepared a hex to drain her daughter's mana and lifeforce. but at the last moment, Wizma was instinctively able to deflect it, taking heavy damage to her eyes and magic ability in the process. struck by her own hex, Seria was petrified on the spot, forever frozen in a look of terror i made this character like 6 months ago and still haven't drawn a proper ref for her whoops. i'm trying to avoid giving exact years for anything with my OCs but Seria's death is roughly a decade before the events of SKTT so Wizma was like early-mid teens when that happened

Miko Samurai, the mother of Bullet Knight and her fellow bullet mage
Compared to her daughter, she had a much greater ability to manipulate her bullets' forms, and could even harden them into magical constructs such as weapons. Conversely she lacked the ability to fly and, while keen, her senses and reflexes did not have the innate benefit of being half-cat.
Though she originated from the far-eastern valley of Isoutaa, she spent some time in Landurr about a year or two before having Bullet Knight. There she met a dear companion named Clara, and although the two ultimately walked different paths in life, they would always wonder what could've been had they stayed with each other.
In spite of her intimidating capability and appearance in combat, Miko Samurai was both kind and easygoing, and preferred to end conflicts nonviolently. She always knew what to say yet tried to appear flippant. In her final years she valued her daughter above all else, but sadly passed away while she was still a child.

i got a one-year backlog of OCs because i wasn't fuckin posting stuff here fsr so i'm gonna just work my way through them in chronological order, and wow this art is starting to show its age i should probably make her a new one. anyway Clariknight, one of the greatest musicians in the valley.
Although she can appear stuck-up, she believes musical talent can come from anywhere, and seeks to identify and nurture it. Her harmony magic gives her the ability to bilocate, allowing her to perform a modest orchestra all by herself.
Her career began with a small shop making and repairing instruments, but before long she had designed the enormous Pridemoor Concert Hall with the aim of bringing the performing arts to as many people as possible. With the funding of the jovial King Pridemoor, the concert hall became a reality and Clariknight has been running it ever since
Decades later in the present, Clariknight has grown distant, immersing herself fully in her work. In spite of this attitude, she has recently hired Bullet Knight as a factotum. She keeps her reasons for both of these secret.
this was from last november to celebrate one year since i first posted bullet knight and wizma on discord (november 8th) which can also be their anniversary. timeline-wise i see this being like a year or two after the vaguely-defined present but it's OCs without much story so time isn't real

Bullet Knight and Wizma, my Shovel Knight OCs*
A couple hailing from faraway lands, who moved to the valley shortly before the events of King of Cards.
Bullet Knight is a powerful warrior who alternates between swift melee attacks or flying out of reach while firing magic energy projectiles she calls bullets. Outside of combat she is a calm and kind soul, though due to her unexpressiveness and aggressive resting face, she tends to unnerve others accidentally. Due to this (among other factors), she has had difficulty forming relationships with other people.
Wizma is a talented magician/researcher devoted to the study of magic, but with one small problem - years ago she was cursed, and her mana capacity has been gradually shrinking ever since. By now she can only innately cast weak spells, and using rituals "just isn't the same". She is temperamental and untrusting, but over time she has let Bullet Knight close to her heart, and perhaps she could slowly start letting others into her life as well.
I haven't really posted art publicly before but I've been making stuff with these two in some discord servers for over a year so I have a bit of a backlog to put here over time, although I might filter out some of the stuff I'm not as confident in for now.
*Any perceived resemblance of Bullet Knight and Wizma to the duo protagonists of another game franchise is actually just a hallucination or the perceiver being crazy or smth idk
