zuko: sorry for sending that assassin
sokka: you’re the one who sent combustion man?!?!?!
zuko:
zuko: thats not his name 🤨
Au where the Gaang were looking for a firebending teacher, just found Zuko on the side of the road and picked him up by the scruff of his neck and was like "you". No one figures out he's the Prince of the Fire Nation until Sozins Comet.
Aang comes back, having defeated firelord Ozai, and then finds out that his wet rat of a firebending teacher is actually royalty and is being crowned Firelord tomorrow. He is so confused.

Inktober 2022 Day 2 - Scurry
IM ALIVE!!!! >:D
Haven’t been posting for 3 weeks I’m really sorry, school’s been really busy and finals are coming up :,)
There’s still some prompts from @zutaramonth I haven’t finished so keep working on them in the future, but for now i’ll be doing smaller posts like this
I did mention a while ago that I may start a short series , this is one of the scenes that spawned in my Bren.
Smol description of the scene: (Set in post 100 year war, Azula redemption and Ursa reunion) Handling multiple  assassination attempts and stress of being a Firelord, Zuko gets hardened and slightly unhinged. One time during a peace meeting with the gaang, Iroh, Kuei, Hakoda etc. New Ozai society+ Ozai launched a coup, Zuko got hit once, proceeds to go berserk, and turns out to be really good at lightning bending.
“Look at me Ozai! the failed product! The sentimental weakling! I may be a descendant of Roku, but never forget that I AM YOUR SON!”
while forming this image I listened to a list of songs :)

Everyone makes headcanons about joel and ellie, so I'm gona give my hcs about tommy and ellie this time around...
I think joel and ellie's relationship is canonically clear. I mean, they're one of the most iconic duos out there, but you look at them and you know who's the adult and the child, who's in charge. And unilke that, I think ellie would be tommy's sidekick. One and half spies. He would call her his little partner in crime, and their bond would be so chaotic it would take a second for new people to realize thy're uncle and niece, because sometimes they give off big brother and little sister energy.
Another headcanon I have for them is tommy quietly firguring ellie's sexuality before joel. I mean, joel is not a bigot, but he's also just a clueless man when it comes to romance and that is such a funny detail lol but tommy? It's already a headcanon for everyone that tommy was a party monster in his teens and always has been this social puppy, so I believe that he has so many experiences with different people and friends that he can spot some social clues better than joel. So yeah, I can totally imagine that tommy would always quietly notice that ellie blushes a bit to hard around some girl in jackson, but keep quiet because is none of his business. Joel would tell something about thinking that ellie likes jesse, and tommy would just chuckle and think 'yeah maybe if jesse grow a pair of boobs'.
I feel like tommy is also tue type of person that messes with ellie a lot but doesn't really like when other people do it to the point of making her unconfortable. I mean, just because tommy is a golden retriever it doesn't mean he is a people pleaser: not when it comes to his family. So yeah, sometimes he will do something repeatedly around ellie to the point she will be whinning like "joooel make him stop or I will kick his fucking balls!!", but if someone who's not on their inner circle feels entitled enough to do that, he will politely tell then to stop bothering his niece.
I also feel like joel's love for ellie can sometimes blind him a bit, and that's when tommy's uncle behaviour comes to balance. I mean, ellie and her friends would be solded by jackson's adults for smoking weed inside jackson's curch, and when ellie tells joel that she's sorry and she will never do it again, geez - Joel would accept it and move on. Tommy on the other hand will wait for joel to leave and be like "now, your old man might think you're a little angel but I'm no fool, where did'ya hide the rest of it?".
OH, MY FUCKING GOD. I am so in love with these!
Zuko's crew. T_T I'm now convinced every night had some sort of family activity soused with boiler room hooch. Zuko has zero poker face on mahjong night, while Jee wipes everyone clean with his RBF. And let's not forget Zuko and Aang are Azula-lightning-scar buddies, too. In through the chest and out through the back.
SOBBING!! you are so right about everything omg. I mean zuko lived on the ship with that crew for three whole years, and like. ok yeah he was at peak bastard mode during that time but they MUST have bonded in some way!! Mandatory game night at least once a week! zuko might be shitty at table games but they find out he obliterates everyone at charade.
And AAA OMFG DID U READ MY MIND. I DO HAVE a doodle of aang & a very crispy zuko being “mortal wound from azula” buddies lmao. Slapped some color on it just for you. mwah.
(while we’re at it they also have an epic tsungi horn duo going on as a side gig)
I love the fact that you now have two different au's where it's like. "Prince Zuko has tragically died at sea. He's dead now. So very tragic." "Hey, WATER TRIBE here! LOOK WHO WE GOT!!!"
If you're trying to imply that I'm slowly building up a trope-drinking-game multiverse
I can niether confirm nor deny your accusations
Here is a polar bear goose to distract you
"HONK"
now i cant turn down a happy moment,, remember when pai sho didn’t get in the way of avatar hunting?
“whatcha doing?”
“strategizing, zu.”Â
[i.d. a digital drawing of zuko, lu ten, and iroh from atla. lu ten sits on one side of a pai sho board with one hand thoughtfully on his chin, across from a smiling iroh. a tiny zuko is peeking over the edge of the table. the characters on the pink background translate to “what are you doing?” “strategizing, zu.” end i.d.]
Once Ellie learns what a sleepover is, she regularly bullies Tommy into having them with her (he goes willingly but he makes her work for it nevertheless).
He's not only the cool Uncle tm but also the person she can talk to about stuff she doesn't always want to talk to Joel about, either because it would make him worry a lot or because it would be an incredibly awkward conversation she has no intention of having with him. Tommy knows how to keep a secret and he would never betray Ellie's trust.
They maneuver mattresses onto the living room floor and eat enough sugar to kill a small toddler. Most of the time, their nights consist of Ellie doing weird shit to his hair and painful face masks that she discovers in old magazines, watching movies Joel either deeply dislikes or doesn't want her to watch (trying to protect the last of her innocence, sweet attempt but futile, since nothing of that is left anyway), and gossiping; Tommy is GREAT at gossip.
Joel is a bit jealous that he isn't invited, but when he comes to pick her up in the mornings and sees her curled up with Tommy the exact same way he and Sarah would when he made his brother babysit, the bittersweet surge of affection is worth the comparably lonely night in his bed.
Ellie deserves every bit of family she can get.
there’s a little detail that i didn’t notice about “the blue spirit” when i first watched it. when zuko returns to his ship after his misadventures at ponhuai, avatar-less and honorless and still puzzling over aang’s speech and having made an enemy of zhao and probably severely concussed, iroh is there on deck. Â
music night happened the previous night. and yet it’s morning when zuko returns, and iroh is still playing the tsungi horn on deck. Â
iroh waited up all night for zuko to come back. Â
it’s such a small detail, but speaks volumes about their relationship. iroh not only allows zuko to sneak out in order to free the avatar in order to preserve his chance at regaining his honor, iroh actually subtly encorages zuko to free aang from ponhuai, even though he clearly knows that there’s every possibilty that zuko will be caught by zhao and iroh will not be able to save him. Â
as the guardian of a teenager, iroh’s influence over zuko is limited. iroh must allow zuko the freedom to chase after the destiny he thinks he wants, iroh cannot always protect zuko or keep him out of danger, iroh cannot even demonstrate affection to zuko in the way he would clearly like to because zuko is too hurt and guarded to be able to accept it from him -Â
- but iroh can wait up for him. Â
iroh can sit up all night, just to make sure that zuko gets home safely. Â
and it is such a striking element of their relationship, because I waited up all night for you becomes the unspoken love language by which they communicate caring and affection for each other. Â
iroh waits all night for zuko to return safely from ponhuai stronghold. iroh stays up while zuko sleeps on the ferry and waits up for zuko to return home from his date with jin. iroh sits up all night watching over zuko when he is sick and feverish. Â
and it’s not one-sided, because zuko waits up for iroh. Â
zuko waits up all night watching over an injured iroh after azula blasts him with blue fire. zuko sits up all night waiting for iroh to wake up when they reunite at the white lotus camp.
and this gesture becomes so important to zuko that it even becomes the way he demonstrates caring and concern for the members of the gaang. zuko waits up all night in appa’s saddle, knowing that sokka is planning a rescue mission. zuko waits up all night for katara to wake, knowing she needs to confront her own deeply-felt anger before she can understand and let go of it. Â
and this even is the gesture by which aang first demonstrates friendship to zuko. after zuko is knocked out by an arrow to his blue spirit mask, aang sits up with zuko for the rest of the night until zuko wakes up, just to make sure zuko is all right.
and the concept of sitting up all night for you is such a poignant contrast to zuko’s memory of his mother, who vanished out his life in the middle of the night, waking him up for a last goodbye. Â
it’s pretty clear that iroh sitting up all night with a sick child was far from an unusual occasion.  i think it was probably really important for zuko to be shown, again and again and again, that he has someone who will be there when morning comes. Â
one parent left zuko in the night - but one parent will always wait up for him to come home. Â
