good morning camp camp nation (it’s almost 2pm)
a zooks doodle for my Spirit Blessed (Derogatory) fic where he gets bending swapped with waterbending 8^)
I really like their relationship in s1
Zuko wakes up from his angst coma after releasing Appa as a sane, rational, and emotionally stable human being
So I keep misreading this as “...after REALIZING Appa is a sane, rational, and emotionally stable…” and I. I cannot be held responsible for my actions.

“Nephew, I do not believe you are quite so well as you think—”
“I’m fine, Uncle,” said his nephew, who was smiling like this was a good-humored statement, instead of scowling like he was the teenager Iroh knew. “Oh, let’s stop here.”
They stopped. His nephew haggled, with minimum yelling, for an assortment of vegetables and fruits. Perhaps it was time to change tack.
“While I am sure the gesture will be appreciated, this may be a bit sudden. Perhaps we could begin with a note? Sent by courier.” Preferably one that would not be able to tell the recipients just where said note had come from. “I do not believe we are quite on unannounced visiting terms…”
“If they didn’t want people coming to their house, they wouldn’t have put their address on a poster,” said his nephew, who was occasionally capable of catastrophically (in)correct logic.
“Still,” Iroh said, “perhaps in light of past, ahem, acquaintanceships, a more delicate approach may be—”
But Iroh had not been paying enough attention to said addresses. As he realized, when his nephew vaulted over a stone wall, into the courtyard of a modestly appointed upper-ring home.
There was a low rumble, as if of a ten-ton animal pleasantly surprised.
Then much shouting, as if of several children, who did not find ‘pleasant’ to be applicable.
Iroh sighed and, not finding a gate, politely knocked on the stone wall itself.
The Avatar’s earthbender obliged him a moment later, a gap in the wall opening as easily as a shoji door slid.
“Hey, Uncle,” the girl said, with a smile toothier than most predators. “Did you misplace your nephew again?”
“I also have tea again,” said Iroh, lifting up the conciliatory basket he’d only just had time to pack before chasing his nephew’s upbeat attitude out the door.
“Score,” said Miss Beifong, stepping aside.
“Toph!” barked the Water Tribe boy. “We do not double the Fire Nation’s invasion forces!”
Iroh set out a teacup for him, regardless. Miss Beifong helpfully bent a stone table for him to work atop. Overall, this neither lessened nor greatly increased the level of shouting in the courtyard.
“I’m not here for you,” his nephew was saying, with familiar levels of scorn. “Move aside, Avatar.”
“You can’t have him!” said the young Avatar. “I just got him back!”
“Who do you think got him back?”
Iroh let both tea and confusion steep.
“Do you like persimmon-oranges?” asked his nephew, much more hesitantly.
“I… guess?” said the Avatar, before over his head, a great tongue licked the fruit from his nephew’s offering hand. Similarly, the rest of the basket. And then the rest of his nephew, who stared down at his dripping clothes with the same befuddlement with which the Avatar’s group were staring at him.
“Did we all get some kind of crazy fever from the lake water? Or from evil cave mold?” asked the Water Tribe boy. “Is that what this is?”
…That would make more sense than a spiritual fever, perhaps.
anyway i think itd be nice if the whole atla gang was meant to take a month-long reunion friend-reconnection extravaganza trip 15 years after they all settled in their different roles and jobs and parts of the world, but a few days in Problems at their respective jobs/homes/families start popping up that force each of them to leave early one by one until only zuko and sokka are left for weeks alone and it's awkward until it's not so bad until it's actually kinda romantic all of a sudden and just when they start to recognize what's going on, friendos all start coming back, having solved their issues at home and absolutely ready to rejoin the last leg of their reunion vacation together which puts no strain at all on anyone's budding feelings whatsoever
If you're still taking TOH requests, would you draw Darius, maybe bonding with either Hunter or Eber? He's one of my absolute favorite characters too!
I NEED MORE DARIUS!!!! I get the feeling we might've gotten more of his backstory had we not been robbed of season 3.... Like, why he and Amity's dad fell out of friendship, his relationship with the old golden guard. There's so much mystery left to explore!!!!! TAT!!
And with those kind of themes being played out on the kid main characters too, I could totally see an episode meant to happen where the show deals with an adult having to come to terms with old burned bridges.
Like how Willow and Amity became friends again. But imagine it between adults, y'know? That has held these feelings for so much longer. The drama. It is so... juicy!!!!
AND HIS "I TOTALLY DONT CARE" ATTITUDE BUT HE TOTALLY SO DOES CARE!!!
Adult characters that is like "lmao I hate everyone and these children annoy me" and then wind up being their designated best parent is... ... one of my fave tropes...
I am.. weak... for this character type.
I love him. TTATT!!! Dariiuusss!!!!
Happy tlou hbo day :-)

my pet peeve is azula fanart that draws her sexy af. short schoolgirl skirts and cleavage out and bold lipstick 24/7. and like. i get it. her color is red. she’s intimidating to u. she’s #meangirl #darkacademia #trustfundkid to u. she’s an east asian girl and you’re having some trouble w metacognition right now, to say the least.
but this is a 14yo girl who is TERRIFIED of displeasing her father in any way or any amount. ozai is tyrannical, prone to violence, w black-and-white vision where you’re loyally in or you’re permanently out of his in-group, and prone to taking any actions of his children as personal attacks, statements, embarrassments, and injuries. he is a narcissist who nearly killed her older brother in front of her, then tossed him out to sea for an entirely age-appropriate social mis-step, who inhabited a world of domination and violence, likely displayed some level of domestic and spousal violence in front of and possibly against azula when she was younger. ozai regularly treats and respects azula as a possession of his.
all that and you think 14yo azula is dressing sexy?? azula is wearing dad-approved jeans and plain solid-color t shirts. azula is begging to get her ears pierced. canon azula is dressed, advised, served, and socialized by adults. she has no comprehension of how to do makeup or her own hair. she lives in a massively, toxically radically masculine world of logic, violence, dominated/dominator duality, career-focused, emotionless, loveless lives, and u think that this girl, raised by her violent and possessive father, without a mother or single older woman around, can do anything for her hair besides a ponytail?
azula uses st. ives apricot facial scrub and neutrogena grandma lotion her elderly housekeepers buy for her, she wears ponytails and buns she learned exclusively from youtube tutorials that she watched in secret, she wears practical polo shirts and dark wash jeans that ozai approves of his daughter wearing outside, and for occasions she has a stylist that puts her into designer blazers and adult black dresses. on those occasions she looks so 14 trying to be a real adult, like the soulless and joyless ones that surround her. she’s intimidating in spite of/with her non-sexiness. not because of it.
and i do see azula going high femme as an adult. and i do think when she wants to rebel against ozai, in scenarios where she’s taken in by iroh as well, she goes for daring teenage tiktok looks (“one positive side to my first guardian being put in jail is that apparently my new guardian is willing to let me download social medias, so I have a tiktok now. he even fired the intern in charge of my official instagram and let me be the one to delete it.”)
but like. cmon guys. azula, as we know her in canon, will not rebel an inch. she is safely, terrifiedly sitting in her approved corner, and that’s not where sexy is. where’s that post abt how zuko is an iroh-advised grandpa sweater polo shirt prep kid. real after-school kumon/mathnasium core. that’s azula too. she’s wearing lots of gold jewelry and a halter top in the beach episode but don’t let that fool you. that’s her first time dressing up “to be a normal teen” and she coats herself in the equivalent of head-to-toe gucci because that’s how other #teenz dress, right??
and like. how come the nerdy dorky sheltered traumatized brother is often acknowledged as the grandpa sweater polo shirt prep he is, w thirst traps, as is his human right, but some ppl view azula, who shares most of those traits, as constantly seductive? how come it’s this character, an east asian teen girl, who wears the miniskirt and the red lipstick of the gaang to some of u? let’s think abt it for 2 seconds
okay rant done i have a capri sun now :)
Concept: Fire-sibs with Congenital Prosopagnosia. They’re face-blind.
Azula is fine. She chose 2 friends with extremely distinctive voices & body-language and decided that was enough. Recognizing anyone else is beneath her station as a princess. If they were important they’d wear a crown.
Zuko on the other hand has been on this ship for 3 years and he’s concerned that if he doesn’t capture the Avatar soon, this group of middle-aged men might begin to suspect can’t tell them apart.
Literally any disguise will fool Zuko. Cover Aang’s tattoos and he can’t pick him out of a lineup. Fortunately water-tribe teens are rare outside of the poles, and Aang has a habit of declaring himself the Avatar so he stands a chance as long as they don’t catch on…
Bonus: Ty Lee’s sisters don’t even look that much like her. It’s just a standard familial resemblance. But Zuko and Azula both made the mistake several times as children and have complained about how hard it is to tell them all apart, and nobody bothered to correct them (because royalty) so Ty Lee believed them.
headcanon that uncle iroh was very scary so the sailors on zuko’s ship never swore around him and zuko knows no swearwords. aang, however, knows all of them and just chooses not to use them
🌅 Max was always so infuriated with the way Nurf treated Preston, but couldn't ever show it.
🌄 He'd never felt like he should help anyone before, nevermind the theatreboy. It just pissed him off whenever Nurf raised his voice at Preston, he didn't even do anything wrong!
⛺️ Max had shrugged it off as just being overdramatic, until later in the night. He'd heard soft sobbing, and decided to follow the noise.
🎑 It confused him when he ended up at Preston's tent. They were both reluctant to talk at first, but eventually spent the whole night together talking and giggling. <3
