i heard shoji HEADCANNONS??? I’VE BEEN SUMMONED ‼️ here are a few I made up on the spot >:)
- he spends like 30 minutes a day working with hair gel to make his hair spiky and cool because HOW ELSE WOULD IT JUST BE THAT WAY? and if you compliment his hair he’ll just <3 melt <3 but not SHOW that he’s melting inside but he definitely is internally
- he has trouble finding outfits that fit his body style, so if he talks to you about it, you suggest that you both design some on paper together! so if you like drawing, the two of you can design outfits and cool clothes together for him together !!
- god he’s up there with izuku in that he would be the best listener. since he’s usually quiet, he would love to listen and give calm, sound advice in situations that you ask for it. we all know he’s a gentlemen, so I KNOW he would be an amazing advice giver :)
THIS WAS SM FUN TO WRITE AHHHHAMSKSNNSNS I’M SO EXCITED TO SEE WHAT YOU’LL WRITE!!!! 😌💞💞💞
shoji mezou x gn! reader a/n: BRUH I ASKED FOR LIKE ONE HEADCANNON NOT A WHOLE GODDAMN STORY LINE ALSDFLDSFJDSKF But literally can’t write this as one thing without it being like a whole-ass long story (bc im just a perfectionist) SOOO I WROTE IT IN THIS WEIRD IDK KINDA STYLE
Ok, ok, see, imagine Shoji and a reader who’s a designer - meeting when Shoji’s manager finally convinces him to focus more on his public image. He’d never really cared about it up until then, and never thought of it as important.
He begrudgingly makes an appointment and asks for you to meet him at his agency, writing it down in his calender before seemingly forgetting until the day of.
But in you walk, confident and poised - seemingly the exact opposite of Shoji - and at first he’s scared of you.
He wasn’t a fool to the way people were biased against him, the stares he got when he was on patrol, why he wasn’t in the top ten despite having extremely high rescue numbers.
What if you don’t like him? What if he’s too difficult to style for? What if he’s too scary for you?
And even though his mind is rushing when you introduce yourself, he still scrambles out a polite hello and a nod - before noticing that you didn’t, in fact, think he was scary or too difficult to work with.
In fact, you even complimented him on his hair and the way it went with his image - which he muttered out a thank you to, but could barely breathe under his mask from the way his heart was pounding in his chest.
Staying distracted from trying not to show how flustered he is, he doesn’t notice until you’ve laid out all your sketches on the table to show him what your initial ideas are. They’re all prettily drawn - colored and all - showcasing him in different attire for not just hero work, but also formal events, meetings outside of patrol, and even casual wear.
“I know that it’s probably harder for you to find clothes sometimes, so I thought I could do more than just hero stuff. And since you are working on your entire brand, I thought you wouldn’t mind some suggestions for what to wear in case of public spottings,” you look towards him nervously.
“It’s perfect,” he smiles, and you see the way his eyes crinkle above his mask.
- - - - - - - - -
As time moves on, and the two of you continue to work together - your feelings for each other become more apparent (though the other never seems to notice). It leads to almost dates at coffee shops and cafés, all in the name of working together somewhere outside of the stuffy offices you’re both confined to for, what seems like, most of the day.
Your meetings are regular, and there’s never a dull moment when pro-heros’ costumes are continuously ripped to shreds - and shoji loves to hear you complain about working for his colleagues.
“I swear to god that Deku,” you mumble under your breath as you sketch furiously. “This is the third costume he’s destroyed this month. And I can’t just make a bunch and send them to him whenever needed - the whole thing is custom ordered to go with his support gear so I have to contact the company for new gear. Not to mention his mask is hand-stitched by me. It took me so long the first time and he destroyed it in three days.”
“He’s always been like that,” Shoji leans back in his chair with a smile. “In UA, I think it was worse. I’m pretty sure his costume was remade about a hundred times before he graduated.”
“Try 500,” you smirk at him. “I asked.”
Shoji’s eyes widen at that, and he watches as you start giggling before turning your notebook around to show him your new sketch.
“It’s for the Gala,” you explain. “I thought you might need something new for this one.”
The design is sleek and modern, cut to pair perfectly with the theme this year. And you even included his specifically styled hair in the drawing, a little arrow pointing to it that says “tentacole’s really cool hair” with a smiley face.
Shoji chuckles to himself before he looks up to see the excitement that rose to your face out of anticipation.
“So…. what’d you think?”
“I…” he pauses, staring at the drawing again with a furrow in his eyebrows. “I think you should make another one.”
Your face falls as you attempt to mask your disappointment. “Oh, I’m sorry,” you reach for the paper. “I’ll design something better then-”
“You didn’t let me finish,” he interrupts. “Design something for yourself. I think you should come with me and see the fruits of your labor on display.”
“Really?” your eyes light up with a smile.
“Of course.”
SMALL ACTS OF INTIMACY.
▹ featuring: katsuki, izuku, shoto, and denki.
KATSUKI rolls his eyes inwardly when he notices you shivering, shoulders bunched up to your ears despite trying—and failing—to assure him that you were fine. the cold didn’t bother you anyway, you tried to joke even, but his frown deepens when you tug the collar of your jacket tighter around your neck. “fuck’s sake,” he sighs, before stopping abruptly to unravel his own scarf. ignoring your protests, he wraps the knitted piece around your neck, a scowl tugging at his lips as his fingers secure the ends out of sight. “there. now stop fucking shivering and come on. we’re gonna be late.” you only nod and smile your thanks, burrowing further into the newly provided warmth. the tips of his ears tinge red at the sight, but when asked, he mumbles something about the cold, gloved hand tightening around yours.
IZUKU muffles a sigh into your lap, curled eyelashes resting upon freckled and sun kissed skin. he feels weightless with each finger that toys with his forever unruly locks, head moving each way your hand does. all his troubles fall from his shoulders here, buried in the known that is you—an ever present constant he wouldn’t dare take advantage of. here, the world narrows down to just the two of you and mind numbing relaxation, and he finds himself wishing for more moments of tranquility like this. your fingers gently brush against his cheek and he opens his eyes to look up, instantly greeted with a gaze so tender heat creeps up the side of his neck to set ablaze across the apples of his cheeks. laughter swarms around him not long after and his heart squeezes, but soon relaxes once more as your hands resume the gentle combing through his hair.
SHOTO peers over at you between the pages of his newest read, mismatched hues glancing curiously between you and the screen illuminating your face. different hobbies aside, the pair of you always managed to find an in between, sometimes lounging in the same space while taking up different tasks being one of them. and yet the longing to have some part of you with him despite already being with him persists, nimble fingers slowly inching until they rest a few centimeters away from your relaxed palm. gaze flicking up once more, he prepares himself to be brushed off no matter how many times you’ve reassured him that taking affection when he wanted it was okay, teeth sinking into his lower lip with furrowed brows. but at the last second, you reach out from his hand and squeeze once, a reminder said without even needing words.
DENKI offers the other earbud with a soft grin and ‘do you wanna listen?’ in the crowded train, hand extended towards you with hopes that you’d take him up on his offer. what you don’t know is that he’d been preparing that four worded question for weeks beforehand, his reflection shaking his head in disbelief at his antics. the inquiry hangs within the ambience of faded conversation and the distant rumbling of wheels against the tracks, cellphones ringing in the background when you accept the offered earbud with a grin that matches his own from ear to ear. bumping his shoulder, you add a cheeky, ‘hope your music taste doesn’t suck,’ and he thinks he’d let you continue to make teasing jabs at his countless playlists if it meant being close to you like this.

in the secluded land of the immortal shogun, the bakufu rules eternal. but what do mortals see of the eternity chased after by their god?
characters ☆ inazuma, nation of eternity
WHEN YOU DON’T GIVE THEM ATTENTION.
▹ dekusquad edition.
IZUKU blinks at first, used to warm touches and a gentle hand at his cheek every time you passed him in the kitchen, and pauses in getting a glass of water to peer at you curiously. but it’s when he realizes you aren’t going to acknowledge him does he frown a bit, a worried crease in his brow. actively wonders if he did anything wrong and will run himself into mad circles trying to figure it out, so you better tell him it was a prank..
OCHAKO pouts when she realizes her relentless poking for the last two minutes leads her to another dead end. she had tried everything—calling, texting, offering hugs, asking if you were feeling okay—but to no avail. she’s very persistent, though, and vows to find out what’s got you acting so cold to her. though it’s just as she’s running out ideas do you break into a smile and tell her it was just a prank, to which she, too, attempts in giving you the silence treatment… but her resolve quickly crumbles when you tell her the prank has been a bit of hell for you as well.
SHOTO frowns when you don’t greet him with a smile like you usually do, stiffing when you simply walk past him to sit on the couch. slowly, he makes his rounds over to where you’re sitting, hesitant in reaching out. and your front all but crumbles when he quietly asks if he had done anything wrong, hands reaching out to pull him into a hug immediately. reassure him over and over that he didn’t do anything wrong, please.
TSUYU takes your silence with the grace and patience of swan, reading into your faux resignation as a sign that you wanted to be left alone. she does check up on your periodically, brows furrowing with worry the more you don’t answer, and honestly relays her feelings to you before leaving you alone—for some time. it’s then do you come to her and reveal that it was a prank, to which relief and a bare-bone smile crosses her lips.
TENYA peers over his frames in slight disbelief—as if the person who entered your beloved home was a complete stranger rather than the other half of his heart—because normally you waste no time in telling him about your day, complaining about the nuisances that occurred while laying your head on his chest. the uneasy feeling follows him all throughout dinner and while getting ready for bed, and it’s not until he tentatively taps your shoulder to ask if everything was alright does he finally see the smile he’d been waiting all day to see. (he vows to research on trends from then on, so you might have created a little problem.)

» HAIKYUU + "JUST FRIENDS"
ft. akaashi, atsumu, kuroo, kita
tags : gn!reader, angst
a/n : ...hello
» AKAASHI walks you home - like he does, most of the time - in bleak temperatures with light snow scattered on the pavements. unfortunately for you, you’d forgotten your gloves, which leaves your fingers numb from exposure. akaashi notices it from the way you blow into your bare fingers repeatedly, and promptly reaches for the extra pair of gloves he always carries in his bag and hands them to you. when you accept his gloves with a smile, he doesn't know why but he feels his heart sink with a ‘thunk’ following whatever you say afterward; “thanks ‘kaashi, you’re a great friend!”
» ATSUMU’s a little tired of suna and osamu’s constant teasing of you and him, but he doesn't really mind either, because you're one of the only things he thinks of. not that he’d admit it, but there’s also a part of him that is dying to know if you really feel the same way that he does, and an even bigger part of him that’s wishing, praying for a reality where you're his. but the universe is unfair - you reply to them, wearing a apologetic yet genuine smile on your face, with a shake of your head - “nah, we're just friends.” then turn to grin at atsumu with a tilt of your head and a small part of him just dies, “we're really friends, aren't we?”
» KUROO bends down the moment he sees your mouth stretch wide open in yet another exhausted yawn; a piggyback-ride offer that you accept, climbing onto his back and securing your arms around him. as you do so, kuroo tries to ignore the heat pricking at the apples of his cheeks because while he’s used to carrying you home every other day, he certainly isn't used to the feeling of your warm breath fanning the crook of his neck and the snug fit of your arms wrapped around his shoulders. “i love you, tetsu.” his breath hitches at the sudden announcement you make. he feels his hopes soar, just a bit, until you add on with a soft yawn, “you're like a brother friend, y’know? big bro friend.”
» KITA invites you over to his house for a simple friday dinner and, with much insistence from your side, to help out with the cooking too. he stays in the kitchen as well to make sure that grandma yumie doesn't overdo whatever she’s making, to which she replies brightly with, “it's not called overdoing, shin-chan, we’ve got to make your future wife feel welcome!” you answer her statement by adverting your eyes groundward, obvious embarrassment carved out in your features. kita’s just about to deny whatever she’d said (although he kind of doesn't want to) when you speak up first instead. “ah, no grandma yumie, shin’s just a friend! he’s like a big brother to me.” and then he feels his heart stop.

another repost from an old acc 😔 i cant help it i love this one too much. shinsou's makes my heart do things. dont hate me </3
# shinsou
you were sat in shinsou's lap, his back leaning against the headboard of his creaky bed, calloused hands resting on your hips meanwhile your hands cupped his face at his jaw, a look of concentration on your face. "watcha thinkin' about, pretty girl?" he manages to mumble, hoping you can't hear his heart beating so damn loud. "about how pretty you are." you answer, tilting his chin up, "just thinkin' about pretty you are." you repeat. "oh yeah?" "mhm." it's silent for a moment, but he can't the smile that forms on his face, "thank you baby- his hands run up and down your sides bringing goosebumps to your skin, -i think you're pretty too."
# kirishima
your head rest on kirishima's chest, fingers running up and down his arm, "hey kiri?" you ask, looking up at him, "hm?" "i need to tell you something." "well, don't keep me waiting." he teases, a smile creeping on his face. "okay okay- you sit so your straddling his lap and he rests his hands on your hips -i just think.... you're really pretty..." the last few words come out as a mumble and you can already feel the heat spreading across your face. "you think so?" he asks and you nod to which he smiles, "oh princess, thank you. no ones called me that before." "never?" "nuh uh, you're the first. but, now i have to tell you something." "tell me." he wraps his arms around your waist and pulls you in, "i think you're so much prettier." he whispers before planting a kiss on your neck.
# kaminari
on the off chance denki wasn't playing video games this late at night, he was laying in his bed with your head resting on his chest; tonight was one of those nights. the only light in the room being the blue led lights on his walls and the only sound coming from his small fan on the other side of the room. that was until you look up at him, his eyes are closed but you know he's awake and the way the light is reflecting off his skin sends shivers down your spine. "you're so pretty, kami." you mumble, "you think so?" he asks, eyes still closed and you can definitely hear his heartbeat speed up. "uh huh." it's only then he opens his eyes, "come up here." you do as told, adjusting yourself so you're completely on top of him. he leans in to kiss you, hands rubbing up and down your sides, "i think you're the prettiest girl i've ever laid eyes on." he mumbles, trailing kissing down your neck, "my pretty girl aren't you?"

GOROU knows that something is wrong but he couldn’t seem to figure out what it is. You pull away whenever he tries to embrace you; avoid whenever he tries to reach out for your waist; and above all, he misses you and your touch.
He’s a straightforward man, and he wants to get to the middle of the situation before it gets worse, thus it wasn’t long before he was pulling you aside privately and asking you directly how you were.
“Is there something wrong, honey? You’ve been acting… odd lately. I’m here if you want to talk to me.”
He didn’t know what to expect, but he softened up when you finally told him about the thoughts that ran through your head lately, the shadows that creeped your mind and pushed him away at the same time.
Without a moment to lose, he slips his hands on your waist, gently pulling you close and carefully peppering your face with gentle kisses. Unlike any other time, he was slow, letting you relish on how his lips press on your cheeks, temples, the bridge of your nose, the corners of your eyes, and even on your jaw. Unraveled, you were, but all was silent in this very moment, with him helping you learn how to slowly love yourself [again].
“It must have been tough on you, huh? I apologize for only noticing this now, my love. You are worth more than just your outside appearance, but if I were asked, you are the most beautiful person I have ever seen in my entire life. You deserve more recognition than you think.”
KAZUHA notices how distant you have been these past few days. He watches and continues to observe you to see what seems to be the problem. The way you crossed your arms, look away when he’s professing his love for you, and even avoids his kisses. He can still kiss you, but whenever he tries to pull you deeper, you push him away.
He respects you, he does, but something doesn’t feel right.
For one last time, he whispers in your ear, “My dove, the love of my life, have I told you how much I love you today?”
The words lingered in your brain far longer than it should and sooner, you broke and gave him the answers to his questions—the worries that filled your mind these past few days and prevented you from accepting any kind of affection that he had always given.
With a gentle kiss on your nose, he then leans his forehead on yours, “Your beauty encompasses any other I’ve ever seen my entire life, no matter what you or the others say, this fact remains in my mind, and I wouldn’t mind having to remind you that everyday and every moment of our lives.”
XIAO, above everyone else, is the most concerned. Not only was he confused as to what seems to be the problem, but he also doesn’t know how to address it without having to look insensitive of your mortal feelings. He’s not like you, and that was exactly what he feared of—to hurt you without meaning to; inside and out.
He wanted to reach out, wanted to hold you and be there for you, but what if he was the problem? What if he’s the reason why you’re feeling this way?
Yet, he couldn’t just give up on you like that. He is a weapon, he cannot desert you just like that.
So he decides to confront you about it, standing face to face under the moonlight on the balcony of Wangshu Inn. He prepares himself for the onslaught of the battlefield, but he could have never expected the sharpness of the sword that you had been fighting with all this time, all alone.
He holds your weary and tired body, letting all the cries of your heart and soul about your insecurities fall onto the wind and out into the open. He is not human, he cannot comfort you the way humans could, but he is your weapon. He doesn’t like seeing you this way. If he had to defeat even the negative thoughts in your mind, he would. For you.
He held the back of your head, a sign of reassurance, maybe? Or was it a way to ridicule the voices that pull you into the darkness?
“Foolish human, you are more beautiful than how you think you are. What you see on the outside is not the only basis for such things. How else do you think you’ve tamed even an Adepti like me?”

gn! reader | genre: fluff + LDR prompt
he'll take a screenshot and make it his homescreen. you may be drooling in that photo, the angle might be unflattering, but he does not care. it may not be obvious but his heart is very much doing laps— no matter how you look. the fact that you were comfy enough to fall asleep near his presence, even if it's on-screen, was something he wants to remember and cherish.
yamaguchi, makki, SUNA, yaku, TANAKA, aran, lev
becomes unfiltered. he either says dumb little secrets or happenings about his life or on the occasion he's feeling sweet, he'll give be a cheesy love bomb. “pst pst.” no response. “i love you,” he says in a slightly sing-song, soft, and mellow voice. “my darling, my baby, the prettiest, lovely—” just teasingly telling the truth, partially to test you, but mainly to affirm what he can't say face to face yet. if you don't wake up from it, it's not exactly a loss.
OIKAWA, atsumu, MATTSUN, futakuchi, suga, konoha, tsukki
falls asleep too. one may never know who got knocked out first (there wasn't a recording) but he's going to be the first one to wake up a few hours later— may it be at the start of dawn or a time when it's still dark out. for the rest of the time he's awake, waiting, he'll try to keep his mind off you to get things done. yet, there's an excitement in seeing you wake up, only to realize, he's still there keeping you company.
kenma, nishinoya, TENDO, OSAMU, bokuto, shirabu, semi
immediately notices and wakes you up. he gets paranoid that your gadget may explode, especially since it's unattended near you. there's only so much he can do given the distance. however, technology exists— he'll order something you like, and when the door rings, hopefully, you wake up. it's somehow a two for one. “you're really looking out for me, huh?” you say, yawning, rubbing off the sleep from your eyes, facing his relieved face to get the door.
asahi, kita, DAICHI, aone, GOSHIKI, kageyama, ushijima
it took him a while to realize you were drowsing off. he was very focused on what he was doing, considering that there was probably a valid reason you both stayed up together. when he finally took notice of your motionless figure, he has a bit of a dilemma if he should wake you up or let you be. yet, after seeing how calm you looked, shifting and giving a proper view of your face, he just stares— almost as if in a trance, a drunken love gaze, deep in thought as his mind wanders. "soon," he mumbles, smiling to himself as he hopes for the day he can see that sight in person.

cw: fluff and arm wrestling, unedited
"i don't think i'll ever be able to forgive you."
Hajime's hand is rough and calloused, firmly grasping your own. his gaze is locked on your overly confident form seated across from him. Your eyebrows are locked, that big grin is plastered on your face, and if he were to openly admit it, he could feel a tinge of worry in his gut. he knows how determined you are.
"for winning?"
"yeah. my pride as an arm wrestling champion is at stake here."
you laugh out loud and its guttural, unabashed and not an ounce of embarrassment is evident. "right, right, your pride! how could i forget." Your grip on his hand, albeit slightly sweaty and trembling, tightens. "well, don't be too upset when i beat you."
he counts down from five, getting slower and slower until there's an air of suspense around the number one. "Hajime!" You warn, knocking your foot against his own. he smirks, says go, and the two of you begin your arm wrestling battle.
it's not an easy win. you put up a struggle, but ultimately in the end he's the victor. You groan in frustration. "okay, one more time."
"pretty sure you've tried every day this past week."
"okay, but i'm getting better each time i try!" crossed arms, pouty lip—you're too cute sometimes. he stands from his chair, makes his way around the table and crouches next to you.
"you're right. and i'm proud of you for giving it your all every time." his familiar hand is warm against your cheek, and you comfortably lean into it.
"i'll get you one of these days." you embrace him tightly. he threads his arms under yours, one hand on the back of your head and the other caressing your open back.
"i have no doubt you will."
❥ note: i got a new rollerball perfume with this name and it smells. so good. also, so sorry this is late! school has been absolutely insane and i’ve barely had any time to write :,)
“what’s that smell?” he asks, staring at you intently. it’s hard to tell if he’s displeased—his brows are furrowed, maybe with confusion.
suddenly self conscious, you ask, “is it bad?”
he pauses, inhaling through his nose. “not at all. i just…” he trails off for a moment, distracted, staring off into space as he thinks. “something smells really, really good.”
he then turns his attention back to you. he takes a step toward you, inhaling again.
“it’s you,” he says, now standing so close that you have to look up to see his face.
so, so gently, he places a hand on the back of your neck, carefully turning your head. he brushes your hair back, exposing your skin. you feel your heart beating in your throat, your face warming at the intimacy of it all.
he leans in and you can feel his breath on your neck. he takes a deep breath, like he can’t get enough. “you smell really really good.”
“thank you,” you say, hoping he can’t tell how hot your face is getting. “it’s perfume.”
“mm,” he says, breathing in again. “what’s it called?”
he then pulls away, but his hand remains. it’s so, so warm, emanating heat through the rest of your body. his eyes meet yours, making your already stuttering heart skip a beat.
“it’s called,” you start, and look away. you don’t want to say.
“go on,” he says, turning your head to face him again.
“it’s called good girl,” you finally admit, face on fire.
a slow grin spreads across his face. “perfect for you,” he whispers, “can’t wait to smell it on my hoodies.”

It shouldn’t have bothered you so much really. The townspeople sometimes liked to whisper about rumors and gossip, but as quickly as they came, they would almost always be gone, replaced by another hot topic that was most likely untrue.
“Which one?”
“That person, the one that always hangs around that one guy,”
“Ohhhh! Yes! Y/N, I think? I can’t remember the name. I don’t know why he keeps ‘em around, or why he chose ‘em, there’s nothing special about ‘em at all,”

Because I’m an angst-addicted ball of misery, is it okay if I request drabbles of Fuckboy!Atsumu and Fuckboy!Oikawa being the crush of the reader but she knows of how they treat other girls and doesn’t want to end up heart broken and since she’s shy and introverted, the boys barely know her aside from her being a classmate?
She tries to keep a simple distance away from them until said boys randomly show an interest in her and they start showing her attention, love, and treating her better than the girls they messed with until after a few weeks she overhears from them or their teammates that it’s out of pity/they were bored because Y/N seemed easy to mess with.
Y/N doesn’t let them know she overheard them, instead a switch is flipped and she’s emotionless around them and avoids them. When they ask why she’s like that, she simply says “I won’t let you hurt me like the others.” She basically treats them like they don’t exist (she’s friendly to everyone but them) and said f!boys regret it and bust their asses to fix everything between them (I read how you felt about full angst, so the reader just blocked their number, social media’s, and treat them like the plague until they prove that they truly love her or regret messing with her :) )
Hey, bub. Sorry for the slight delay! I hope you don't mind me making slight adjustments about the plot for my comfort 🥺 And uh... this drabble turned out to be a oneshot because I got carried away. I only did Atsumu's part which went over 3k+ works 👁️👄👁️ Anyway, I hope that you still like it. Have a good day, stay safe and hydrated! ♥️

never play with a girl's feelings. wanna know why? just read the title.
You stared at the back of Atsumu's head dreamily, your elbows propped on your desk as you basically ignored the world around you.
Contrary to the belief that noisy students always sat on the back, Atsumu and his twin were actually seated in front. Despite being in the middle of a class discussion, the two kept on chattering as if the teacher didn't exist. The teacher basically gave up already trying to shut them up since they never listened anyway.
You knew that she could've just sent them to detention but of course, who would do that to the miya twins? People almost worshipped them and your teacher wasn't excluded. Everytime she entered the room, you noticed how she would always cast a glance at the Miya twins and smile "politely."
The two, of course, took advantage of it. If it meant being able to get away with their noise by just simply smirking at the teacher in front of them, they'd do it. They already did anyways. They never did anything more than that though, and for some reason you were thankful that they never crossed that line.
You jolted up slightly when the bell suddenly rang, a loud yelp slipping past your lips out of shock. With your eyes widening like saucers, you felt your cheeks heating up when majority of your classmates turned their head towards your direction, some having a grin on their faces while the others having a look of displease.
However, their stare didn't matter as much as a specific person's did. A pair of brownish eyes stared at you intensely, his gaze so intense it was enough to make you almost squirm in your seat.
Feeling your heart rate picking up along with the shiver running down your spine, you looked down at your lap, successfully cutting your eye contact with Miya Atsumu - the guy you secretly liked despite being hailed as your school's certified f!ckboy.
"Make sure to finish all your requirements this upcoming weekend. You're all seniors so I have high expectations on your outputs, understood?"
With a series of "Yes, ma'am," the class was dismissed.
The room was filled with different noises - subgroups gossiping with each other, the footsteps of students hurrying their way out, the rustling of papers, clanking of chairs and the voices of the class representatives reminding the assigned people to clean properly.
It was lively, for them at least.
As for you, you preferred being alone. No, you weren't some weird nerd kid who acted as if they hated the world. Instead, you preferred categorizing yourself as one of those people who were naturally shy and introverted.
You don't really like crowds nor socializing. You've always opted on sitting by the corner, just enjoying the calmness silence brings you.
Grabbing your books from your desk, you stood up and made your way to the door, head casted a little downwards to avoid making eye contact with people, knowing that doing so will result to interactions, and who has time for interactions anyway? Certainly not you.
With the lack of paying attention, you failed to notice someone who was rushing their way out. Like a cliche movie, your body collided with them, the impact causing you to stumble backwards, loosening your grip on your books as they fell on the floor.
Luckily, the person behind you managed to catch you on time, their hand gripping the small of your back to keep your bum from meeting the floor.
"Whoa, there. Ya alright, princess?" spoke the familiar voice just behind your ear, his breath against your skin giving you small goosebumps.
Instantly, you jerked away. Turning around to face him, you bowed down while muttering continuous apologies. "Miya! I didn't mean to bump into you, I.. I swear. I was just walking out and then somebody j-"
Chuckling, Atsumu placed a hand on top of your head, giving your hair a small ruffle which eventually made you look up at him. "Calm down, I ain't mad at ya. No need to be so flustered."
With a stiff nod, you mumbled a small "Okay," before bending down to pick your books off the floor. You didn't fail to notice how your hands were trembling and you silently prayed to whoever diety was watching over you that Atsumu won't notice it.
"Yer y/n, right?" Atsumu asked as he bent down as well, one hand clutching your book as he let his finger trace over the name written on it. "A pretty name fer a pretty face like yers."
You wouldn't be surprised if he'd ask if you were doing okay because by now, you were a hundred percent sure that your face must be looking like a red tomato. "Thanks I guess," you said, giving him a shy smile before taking the book from his hand.
The small encounter was cut off by someone calling for Atsumu's name. Turning your head to the direction of the noise, you noticed Osamu walking towards you with a small frown on his face, one hand gripping the strap of his bag as he went on how they're going to have to run extra laps again if they ever got late for practice.
Atsumu only chuckled at Osamu before turning his focus back on you. With a cheeky smile, he booped the tip of your noise fondly. "Guess I'll see ya around, pretty thing. Careful not to stumble again, alright? Don't want another man catchin' ya."
With that, Atsumu went on his merry way, turning around one more time to send you a wink, chuckling as you gave him a slow wave before his figure disappeared from your vision as a mere dot.
"See ya later..." you whispered on thin air, lips unconsciously curling up as you stared at the direction he went off to. Once you snapped out of your daze, you bit your lip to stop yourself from squealing like a school girl in love.
Well, technically, you were a school girl in love, right?
That night, as you laid on your bed staring at your ceiling full of glow in the dark stars, you thought that maybe it wasn't so bad making conversations with people every once in a while.
-
The days went by pretty quickly.
At first, you thought that everything will be back to normal. After all, you never tried associating yourself with people. Your high school life was basically nothing but waking up early for school then going back home after class and then repeat.
However, something was strange. In fact, it was very strange. Not only were people trying to befriend you but the one and only Atsumu Miya was actually making an effort to talk to you, and to say that you were confused would be an understatement.
He basically didn't pay attention nor spared you a glance before, until that day you bumped into him.
You knew that it wasn't a good practice to judge someone based on what other people say but he wouldn't be called as your school's f!ckboy for nothing. He'd change his girlfriend almost every week as if he's only changing clothes, cruelly dump those who did not meet his certain standards and doesn't care even if a girl cries infront of him. Those are exactly why you tried not associating yourself with him nor his twin.
But there was something about Atsumu Miya that kept on drawing you in. You didn't know if it was his annoying piss colored hair, intense gaze, or the aura surrounding him. You couldn't help but wonder how someone like him, the exact type of person you swore you hated, managed to keep you attracted like a moth on to a flame.
It was weird.
And yet you loved it.
"Ya know y/n, ya kinda wound me," Atsumu said, plopping himself down beside you on the cafeteria.
With your hand clutching the chopsticks mid-air, you surveyed your area, noting how some heads, specifically the Inrizaki VBC's, turned to your direction. "Sorry, what do you mean?" you muttered as soon as your eyes met Atsumu's.
"I literally thought we're already friends when I saved yer ass from falling backwards," Atsumu answered before stuffing his mouth with an Onigiri, no doubt made by Osamu.
Placing your chopsticks down, you wiped your lips with some napkin before speaking up. "I'm sorry for asking this but... what's with the sudden interest, Miya?"
You were aware of how snappy you sounded, but in reality, it was your own defense mechanism acting up. Just how were you supposed to ignore him when it's he himself who kept on clinging to you?
"Hm, what do ya mean? Is it so hard to believe that I'm trying to befriend ya?" Atsumu tilted his head a bit to the side, his lips curling up into a smirk. "Why not try givin' me a chance, princess? That isn't so much to ask for."
You organized your now empty bento, placing it on the side before focusing your whole attention to the man in front of you. "I've seen how you treated girls before," you said with a low voice, averting your gaze from him to avoid melting into a puddle.
Damn stupid feelings.
"I see..." Atsumu said with a slow nod. "Then I guess that makes it more of a challenge."
Your eyebrows immediately furrowed upon hearing that, your curiosity spiking up at what his words meant. "Challenge? What do you mean?"
Instead of answering you, Atsumu just stood up, his bento in hand with the side of his lips curled up. "I'll see ya around, princess."
With that, you were left alone in your table, eyes still trained on Atsumu as he made his way back to the Inarizaki VBC's table. You watched as most of his friends chuckled while patting his back, some even sending a glance towards your direction.
Deciding that pondering over it would only be a waste of time, you stood up and made your way back to your classroom, failing to notice a grey haired Miya watching you.
-
You let out a small squeak as someone behind you reached for the same book you've been trying to get for almost 5 minutes now. Tilting your head back a little, you were met with an upside down vision of Miya Atsumu's face.
With your arms still raised in the air, you spun around to face him, your back flush against the bookshelf keeping you basically trapped. "Miya," you mumbled while looking up at him, one hand fisting the side of your skirt to release some pressure.
"Here," he simply said while handing you the book, obviously holding back from laughing at your flustered expression. "Don't worry, I ain't gonna try anythin' that would make ya uncomfortable. I was just passin' by and saw you strugglin'."
"And he even tucked my hair behind my ear!"
"He did that?" your cousin spoke from beside you.
Both of you were seated on top of your bed, legs crissed crossed as you gossiped about your interactions with Miya Atsumu.
For the past few weeks, you've been having encounters with Atsumu - in the cafeteria, in the library and even outside of school where he claimed that he was out to buy some ingredients for Osamu and only managed to bump into you "coincidentally". Name it and he'll be there.
With these constant encounters stirring up your feelings, you had to resort on calling your cousin for some girl time in order to save your sanity. Luckily, your parents had no objection. They were even happy that you were actually trying to open up to other people. It was only your cousin but according to your parents, "A small step is still a step."
Plopping your back on your bed, you grunted as you placed both of your hands on your cheeks. "Mhm. I just don't get it you know? He's basically this popular guy that plays volleyball, has a group of girls swarming over him and has the face and body that looks like it's been sculpted by God himself, and yet he's wasting his time on me."
You looked at your cousin with a small pout, one hand reaching out to poke her thigh. "Am I just overthinking things?"
With a breathy chuckle, your cousin laid down beside you. "Maybe? I can't really say for sure since I don't know this Miya guy except your description of him, but what I think is that you should give him a chance."
Hearing that, you laid on your side to face her, elbows propped up against the mattress as you rested your cheek on your palm. "Aila, have you been listening to me? He is a f! ckboy. Dangerous, treats girls like shit, and undeniably sexy. What if his sudden interest is only a one time thing? What if he's just messing with me?"
"And what if he isn't?" Upon hearing no reply, your cousin took your silence as her cue to continue. "What if people just labeled him as this so called 'f!ckboy' because that's what they perceive him to be? What if inside him is just someone who's vulnerable, trying to protect themselves from getting hurt by people so they end up hurting others first to save themselves from the pain? What if he's just waiting for someone who wanted to really know him, the real him? Would you really deprive him of that opportunity just because of what you hear from other people?"
"I... I don't know.."
"Miya isn't here to defend himself and I'm not trying to defend him, but don't you think you should at least give him the benefit of the doubt?" Aila smiled as she settled herself on a comfortable position. "Give him a chance, y/n. Everyone deserves to get one. It's up to him to prove whether he's worth the chance he was given."
You sighed deeply, letting her words sink in as you also shifted yourself on a comfortable position, raising your comforter up until it reaches just below your chin. "Then what happens if he isn't worth the chance he's given?"
With a hum, your cousin just shrugged. "Then you either forgive him and let it go or... give him the finger and tell him 'f!ck you' for messing with your feelings," she said with a short giggle.
"It's something only you in the future can decide. Goodnight, y/n."
With a thankful smile, you turned the lamp off as you whispered, "Mh, goodnight, Aila."
-
"Let's be friends," you said as you slammed a box of onigiri in front of Atsumu, a smacking sound resonating in the air making the rest of the boys look at your direction.
Even the sound of balls whooshing in the air stopped, replaced by the sound of them dropping suddenly on the gym's floor.
With his lips parted, Atsumu shifted his gaze from the onigiri, Osamu, Suna and you. "Ah..." he muttered as if he was just as shocked as you for having the guts to come inside the gym in the middle of their training.
Feeling your cheeks heating up out of embarrassment due to his lack of response, you looked down and started to fiddle with you fingers. "You said you wanted to be my friend and I kept on keeping my distance from you so I thought you might appreciate those onigiri as my peace offering." You scratched the back of your head before giving him an awkward smile. "A-anyway, that's all! I'll see you around, Miya!"
Atsumi could only watch you as you dashed out of the gym. Snapping out of his daze, he looked down at the box of Onigiri, smiling unconsciously as he noticed the sticky note posted on top with "Good luck on your practice, Miya! :))" written on it.
"Interestin'," Atsumu whispered before standing up, Kita's voice filling the air as he called the team back for practice.
-
It's safe to say that after that embarrassing moment, you became friends with Atsumu. You even became close with his twin because they were always with each other. It wasn't long then when the usual duo became three - Atsumu, Osamu, and you.
It was hard to adjust at first. Your female classmates would always glare at you and spout out some nasty remarks but the twins were always there to defend you. In fact, you even met the whole team and hanged out with them when you didn't have some academic tasks to finish.
It was fun, and you were thankful for your cousin who gave you the advise of giving Atsumu a chance.
But there was a downside on the situation.
Your feelings which you kept hidden for a long time was only growing day by day, and you were afraid that it was slowly showing signs.
How?
Everytime Atsumu was near, your heart would beat so fast that you felt like you just finished a 4 kilometer run. Your hands would become clammy, breath would hitch, and face would heat up whenever he teases you, and don't even forget to add that one time you literally froze when you spun around, only to come face to face with him - nose almost touching, lips ghosting against each other with only an inch keeping you apart.
You were playing a dangerous game and yet you had no intention of stopping, not knowing that it wasn't only you who had a secret.
Because Atsumu Miya was also playing a game - something much more dangerous than yours.
-
"Where's 'Tsumu?" you asked as you peeked your head inside the gym.
Kita, who was about to walk out, gave you a smile before opening the door wider for you to come in. "Atsumu's in the storage room. The twins made a mess again so I told them to go clean up before we start practice."
"Typical," you said with a short giggle. "Anyway, I'm just going to drop off Atsumu's hoodie that I borrowed last week. I'll watch over them while you do your business."
"That would be great. Thank you so much, y/n-san. Call me if something happens," Kita said, giving you a small nod before leaving.
As you entered the empty gym, you grimaced upon seeing something that looks like spilled milk on the floor. With a shake of your head, you made your way near the storage room sneakily in attempts of scaring Atsumu.
However, as you got closer, you heard two familiar voices. It was Atsumu's and Osamu's voice, and basing from the way they were speaking, it seemed as if they were in the middle of an argument.
"The fuck did ya say?" It was Osamu.
"I said I was only playin' with her. I mean, she's so easy, don't ya think? It basically only took me a couple of weeks and she came runnin' to me with that box of Onigiri, claimin' she wanted to be friends," Atsumu said, followed by a chuckle. "As if I didn't notice the way she acted around me. I'm telling ya, that girl is in love with me."
"And so, what if she is? That's not an excuse for ya to play with her feelings, dipshit."
Hearing Atsumu huff, you slightly backed away from the door, only to freeze when you heard his next words.
"Y/n is nothin' but a toy to me, somethin' I can dispose of when I got bored."
Biting your lower lip, you clenched the handle of the paperbag you were holding before running out with tears streaming down your face.
You ran as fast as you could, ignoring the worried looks you're getting from the people you were passing by. Even Kita was shocked to see you yet he didn't bother calling out, thinking that you might be needing some alone time for yourself.
You skipped class.
Throughout your whole Highschool life, this was the first time you skipped your class and it was a bummer that the reason was Atsumu Miya.
Stirring your strawberry milkshake from a nearby cafe, you thought about Atsumu's words, another batch of tears streaming down your face as you realized how pathetic you were for believing that he isn't what others say.
Maybe your cousin was wrong.
Atsumu Miya wasn't worth the chance he was given, because he only proved that once a f!ckboy, always a f!ckboy.
-
You blocked Atsumu's social media accounts.
In fact, you even blocked and deleted his number to stop getting in contact with him.
Even in person, you didn't bother paying him any attention unlike before. You stopped coming to their practices, stopped giving him food and stopped talking to him.
You basically acted as if he didn't exist.
It was hard because you knew that your heart belonged to him, but you had to endure it. You didn't want to give him the satisfaction for playing with you. You know your worth and there's no way you're going to let some f*ckboy ruin you.
"Y/n, would ya stop?!" Atsumu said as he grabbed your wrist, effectively stopping you from walking away from him any further.
"Get your hands off me, Miya. I don't wanna talk to you." You struggled against his hold, trying to take your hand back, only to fail when he tightened his grip.
"The hell's yer problem? What's with the sudden attitude? Yer basically ignorin' me and I don't have any idea what I did. Just tell me what I did wrong instead of actin' like a little brat." Letting go of your wrist, Atsumu groaned as he ran his fingers through his hair out of frustration. "I.. I don't like this."
You laughed, eyes squinting as you let out a fit of giggles before pointing at him. "You don't like this? Why not, Miya? I'm just a toy for you, right? So, I don't really get why you don't like this. Is it because you're not bored of me yet so you're not willing to dispose of me?" Crossing your arms over your chest, you looked at him with a serious expression. "Well, I'm sorry to say this but I'm not going to let you hurt me like the others. I'm not a plaything nor am I desperate like those girls pining over you. Have fun looking for a new toy. You're not worth playing with anyway."
That being said, you turned your back on Atsumu, ignoring the whispers that suddenly filled the hallway as the students parted some space for you, leaving Atsumu with his lips parted and feet frozen on the ground.
Serves you right, Miya.
-
Atsumu felt hollow.
With every passing day that you're ignoring him, conversing with people whom you never bothered associating yourself with before, the more he regret taking advantage of your feelings.
It was only supposed to be a game, nothing but a pass time and yet why did it felt like something was missing?
"I wasn't supposed to care," Atsumu said desperately while clutching his head in his hands, elbows propped on the table as he opened up to his twin. "F!ck...I think I like her, 'Samu."
"No shit, idiot," Osamu answered without taking his eyes off the stove. "I told ya several times to stop messin' with people's feelings and did ya ever listen? No. That's what ya get for bein' stupid."
Groaning, Atsumu rested his cheek against the table, facing Osamu's back. "Help me."
Slowing down from stirring the pot, Osamu looked at Atsumu through his shoulder. "Why would I do that?"
"Well, I'm yer twin. Aren't ya supposed to help me? Plus... y/n acts fine around ya." Atsumu sighed before sitting up properly. "I won't bother ya fer a week if ya help me out. I already did everythin' I could. Flowers, chocolates, even payin' attention in class just to impress them! Nothin' worked."
Osamu chuckled at the desperation and frustration in Atsumu's voice. "Deal." He turned the stove off, covering the pot before making his way to Atsumu. Sitting down, he crossed his arms over his chest while staring at the brokenhearted Miya. "Y/n is actually kind. Well, not until that moment she found out about yer stupidity. Have ya tried showin' her that yer willin' to change?"
Atsumu nodded. "I did. I even gave her the usual things girls like."
"I asked if ya showed her that yer willin' to change, not tried winnin' over her through bribery." When Atsumu didn't respond, Osamu let out a 'tsk' before continuing, "Just stop botherin' her and prove that ya regret what ya did."
"Easier said than done," Atsumu grumbled which earned him a smack on the head.
"Will ya stop bein' a sad boy already? I have a plan."
-
Its been two weeks.
Two weeks of no Miya Atsumu trying to apologize. Two weeks of no Miya Atsumu following you like a lost puppy while holding either chocolates or flowers.
Instead, what you were getting were these random post it notes on your locker, your desk, everywhere. Wherever you go, there would be random post it notes with various messages. Some contained cheesy quotations, the others short apology letters.
And despite how mad you were at Atsumu, you wouldn't be able to deny how cute the act was. Not only did he gave you space but also exerted an effort of silently letting you know that he'd be willing to wait for you.
You noticed how he stopped acting like a boss in class, opting to jot down notes instead of chattering with Osamu like usual. You also noticed how he stopped having a random girl beside him during breaks. Everytime you would pass by, no longer would he try to block your way and flick your forehead, but instead give you a hopeful smile before proceeding on his way wordlessly.
But what made you realize that he indeed regret what he did was that one time.
You were walking back to your classroom after forgetting your umbrella. The sound of the heavy rain tapping on the ground resonated on the empty hallways, the cold wind making you shiver as it whooshed in the air.
Wrapping your arms tightly around you, you entered your classroom, eyes widening as you saw Atsumu trying to fit something on the space below your desk while mumbling something.
Clearing your throat, you noticed Atsumu jolting up slightly before turning around to face your direction.
He smiled sheepily before scratching his nape. "I know it's yer birthday tomorrow so I was tryin' to fit this here. I guess there's no point hidin' it already since ya caught me anyway." Sighing, Atsumu picked up the fox stuffie and handed it to you. "Happy Birthday, y/n. I know yer still mad at me and ya probably hate me but I still wanted to give ya a present."
You stared at the fox in your hand, your fingers poking the fluffiness of the material as you fought back the urge to smile. "Thanks," you answered with a dismissive tone.
For a split second, it was silent, and you were aware of the intensity of Atsumu's gaze burning on your forehead, yet you refused to look up, knowing that once you did, you won't be able to hold yourself back and might just forgive him there and then.
"I like ya, I really do. I know I messed up big time fer taking advantage of ya and I'm sorry fer that. It was stupid and childish of me to think that the people around me are nothing but mere toys fer me to play with. I regret hurtin' yer feelings and I'll be willin' to wait until ya forgive me. Just know that I won't stop until ya do."
Hearing something rustling, you looked up and noticed Atsumu taking off his jacket. Within a few steps, he was already infront of you, draping his jacket over your figure. "I'll see ya around, princess. Don't get sick, alright?" Smiling, Atsumu gave your cheek a small pinch before heading out.
You were left in the empty classroom with nothing but the fox stuffie serving as your company. Atsumu's scent was swirling around you from the jacket you were given and at that moment, you haven't notice the single tear sliding down your cheek.
Because of all people, you never expected for Atsumu Miya to be the first one to greet you without having to remind them.
He was the first person you knew outside of your household to ever remember your birthday.
You hugged the stuffie close to your chest, burrying your face on top of its head as you let the comfort it brings envelope you.
-
You stared at the empty space infront, your head swirling as you thought of the possible reasons why Atsumu haven't been in class for three days now.
It's currently your last subject and throughout the whole day, you've been doing nothing but wonder where he was. You haven't asked Osamu about it yet since he was excused from the class due to the preparations for the upcoming match.
And so, the moment your class was dismissed, you rushed your way out, making your trip to the gym. You were thankful that they were in the middle of a water break so you had the chance to call out Osamu's name without having to worry about Kita.
"Y/n?" Osamu's eyebrow shot up upon seeing you. Suddenly, a knowing smile made its way to his lips. Standing up, he walked over to you. "He's sick," he said without even waiting for you to say something.
"Oh.." you muttered, shifting from one foot to another nervously before tugging at the hem of Osamu's jersey. "Do you... uhm, do you think it would be alright if I visit him after your practice? I wanna see if he's doin' alright."
"Alright. I think 'Tsumu would appreciate that. Why don't ya sit on the bench and wait a little for us to finish practice then ya can visit our house after?"
Upon hearing that, your face instantly lit up. You smiled at Osamu as you nodded.
Osamu only chuckled at you and fondly ruffled your hair, a habit he and Atsumu shared.
You waited patiently, and it wasn't long then when their practice finally finished. After Osamu took a shower, you both went on your way to their residence.
As you entered their house, Atsumu's voice immediately met your ears.
"'Samu! Cook me somethin', I'm starvin!"
You looked at Osamu who only shrugged as if he was already used to it. You took your shoes off and wore the slippers you were given before placing your bag on the couch.
"Our room is on the right. Go ahead and talk to him." Osamu said as he pointed on the door at the end of the hallway.
With a nod, you slowly made your way to their room, knocking softly before sliding your way in.
The first thing that greeted you were the mess of opened junk foods on the floor. Roaming your eyes around, you grimaced at the sight of empty water bottles littered around along with the volleyball laying on the ground.
Averting your eyes away from the trash, you looked at Atsumu whose back was facing you, his shoulder raising up and down evenly, indicating that he must be asleep.
Carefully, you walked claser and sat on the edge of his bed, your hand immediately feeling his forehead. "You're burning up," you mumbled, brushing his hair away from his face.
Suddenly, Atsumu's hand gripped your wrist, his eyebrows furrowed as he squinted his eyes. "Am I dreamin' or are ya a ghost?" he asked with a raspy voice.
"I'm not a ghost, 'Tsumu. I'm really here."
You watched as Atsumu slowly nodded before letting go of your wrist. "What're ya doin' here? I thought ya were still mad at me." Sitting up, Atsumu held the comforter close to him as he shivered.
"I heard you were sick. I'm no longer mad at you. I guess I'm still upset but I just can't hold a grudge against you forever, can I? That's not something I can do," you said with a shake of your head. "I really like you, you know? Despite your title of being a f!ckboy, I still fell for you. You were the first person I tried opening up to aside from my cousin. It's just a bummer that you ended up taking advantage of that vulnerability."
You felt Atsumu reaching out for you, his hand enveloping yours as he gave it a small squeeze. "I know, and I'm sorry. I really am."
"And if I give you another chance, will you prove me that you deserve it?" you asked as you looked at him, "I'm still hurt about what happened so I hope that if I give you this chance, you won't waste it."
"Yes. God, yes," Atsumu answered breathlessly, "I promise it won't happen again and I'll try to be better."
Suddenly, Atsumu wrapped his arms around your figure, pulling you on his lap as he settled his head on the side of your neck. "Thank you," he mumbled repeatedly against your skin, his arms tightening around you as if he was afraid of letting go.
And he never did.
Indeed, there was something about Miya Atsumu that kept drawing you in, and despite the bumps and dangers that came along your way, you didn't withraw.
Because as you closed the last page of your photo album eight years from then, you realized how right your cousin was alll along.
Atsumu Miya was worth the chance he was given, and he proved it to you every single day, sealing it with the diamond ring now resting on your left hand.

SAKUSA KIYOOMI | 8:19PM | @goreist
“It’s a slow dance evening,” your husband decides.
You disagree. The weight of this week’s stressors weigh heavily on your shoulders. Hunching your figure under his t shirt. You sigh heavily through your nose as he steps into your path. “Kiyoomi-”
He wraps you up in his arms, gently tugging you into his warm body and presses his head atop yours before you can finish your sentence. He’s shirtless and you can’t help but melt into the hard plains of him. Into his familiar scent.
He takes a deep breath and you feel the evidence of his life under your fingertips. The way his chest expands and his lungs fill with oxygen. The contraction of the muscles as he exhales above you.
“Kiyoomi, seriously, we can’t-”
He squeezes you. Carefully applying enough pressure to force you to shut up. And then he’s breathing deeply again as he begins a slow circling motion around the space between your kitchen and living area. You don’t bother struggling. You relax into his hold and let him rock you, let him guide you through the motions.
There is no sound except the rustling of clothes and the busy city outside your safe haven. You find yourself reluctantly relaxing in the warmth of his embrace, your eyes slipping shut when he begins to hum some familiar tune. The stress of your week takes a back seat to the comfort of being engulfed in Sakusa Kiyoomi’s arms. Being protected by the broadness of his shoulders and back.
“You’re safe,” he whispers and your emotions go haywire. A ball of emotion rolls off the back of your tongue and settles in the back of your throat like an uncomfortable boulder. “I’ve got you.”
The first shudder makes him pause in his swaying and the action sets of a domino effect. Another shudder wracks your finger and then you’re sobbing into his bare chest. Ugly, wet, hiccupping sobs that chip away at your husband’s heart. For one reckless moment he wonders if he can just get you to quit your job and stay home. Let him take care of you in every way. But then he remembers who you are and the absurdity of his thoughts.
He adjusts you so he can run one hand up and down your spine in soothing strokes. You cry until your knees give out and then he scoops you up bridal style and carries you into your bedroom. He sits against the headboard and deposits you in his lap. He chuckles when you straddle him and bury your face in his neck.
“You know it’s okay to be overwhelmed, love,” he says, settling one hand at the base of your spine while the other cups the back of your neck. “And it’s okay to cry and take a break and maybe even, you know-” he releases your neck and you can imagine him making a random gesture with his hand “-quityourjobandletmetakecareofyou.” He finishes in one breath.
A giggle interrupts your sniffling, and you pull away from your hiding place enough to glare at him playfully.
“There you are,” he smiles, cupping your cheek. “Feeling better?”
He reaches into the nightstand to pull out a Kleenex box when you sniffle and nod.
“‘m sorry for-” you gesture to his shoulder and neck and chest, damp from your tears and snot.
He purses his lips, eyes narrowing at your embarrassment. “We’ve been married for half a decade,” he deadpans.
“Uh, so?”
“I’ve had your puke in places that-”
“Okay!” You squeal. “I get it!”
He cleans your face gently, his thumb massaging your cheek. When you’re both clean and your eyes are dry he presses a soft kiss to your mouth. “I don’t know how many times I have to say this before you get it into your pretty little head,” he says, cupping both your cheeks so you’re forced to stare at him as he speaks. “We can’t be too embarrassed to lean on each other love. That’s not how this thing between us-”
“You mean our marriage?”
“-works. The point of this-”
“Marriage.”
“-mar- stop it,” he scowls.
You blink innocently. “Continue.”
“I want you to trust me enough to come to me when you’re overwhelmed,” he admits.
You sober immediately, bringing your own hands up to cup his around your face as you lean into them. “I’m sorry, sometimes I bite off more than I can chew and then life also decides to knock me around at the same time and before I know it everything is too much and I-”
“I know baby,” he soothes. “But you still have me. You will always have me. Do you understand?”
You nod.
“Good girl. No more work today.”
You pause “But-”
His glare is unsettling enough that you immediately snap your jaw shut. “We’ll order your favorites and watch a movie.”
You open your mouth to protest and Sakusa kisses you soundly. Flipping you so you’re beneath him, legs wrapped around his waist as he pins you to the bed. When he pulls away you don’t even remember what you were going to say. The only thing you know is that you’re safe here.
summary: ever since you knew about your feelings for your brother’s best friend, you knew you’d wait for him. no matter how many times he might’ve rejected you, you’d wait for him.
pairing: iwaizumi hajime x fem!reader
genre: fluff/slight angst/humor; you’re waiting for a guy for thirteen years (don’t do that irl unless it’s iwaizumi), brother!oikawa, you’re stubborn as heck (and a simp)
length: 9.7k words
a/n: repost!
AT FIVE YEARS OLD …
you’re a cute kid, you’ll put it as simply as that. your rosy cheeks and grin easily wins the hearts of all the adults in your life even after your adorable toddler years.
but, you’re three years younger than your brother and his friends. to en eight year old, you’re not that cute. in fact, the only purpose you have is to charm away adults, much like your brother, tooru, used to and still does, and torment him.
that doesn’t stop you from interrupting oikawa and his friend’s playdates and hangouts from then on until you'e well into high school.
so yeah, i guess with cute, you could be insufferable.
just like your brother, tooru.
“tooru~,” you sing, bouncing into the room with a handful of dolls, as a wide grin graces over your features. you’re head to toe in some royal getup, frilly and sparkly fabric galore.
“y/n,” is your eight year old brother’s immediate whine, looking away from the t.v. currently playing some rerun of a power rangers episode. “can’t you see i’m with iwa-chan right now?”
before iwaizumi, oikawa’s closest friend, could even scold him for the nickname, already sending daggers toward him, you pout. “but you said we’d play dolls today…”
there’s a little wobble in your tone as it lowers, and your frown is ever present. iwaizumi flits his eyes over to you briefly, quietly observing your reaction.
“maybe later,” oikawa waves you off, barely acknowledging your sadness and disappointment as he turns his attention back to the television.
the frown on your face only deepens when you realize your own brother is choosing a random boy he’d met recently over his own blood. his own sister!
okay, maybe you’re a little dramatic, too.
you’re about to let out some dramatic form of a wail when iwaizumi notices and widens his eyes in horror. iwaizumi doesn’t have siblings of his own so he can only guess what reaction you’ll have by the way your eyebrows furrow in anger. all he’s sure of is that he doesn’t wanna deal with a crying child, so he’s quick to nudge oikawa by budding shoulders with his.
“i think you should play with your sister for five minutes. at least get her in a better mood.”
oikawa’s face puckers in slight annoyance.
“why?”
… and the best brother award goes to … not him.
“girls can ruin your life,” iwaizumi mutters in a knowing tone. how does he know that so early? he’s only eight… and as far as you know, has no siblings.
regardless, you stand proudly with a beam (。- ω -)
“but i want to watch this,” your brother complains, whiny tone toward the end of his statement filling his voice.
iwaizumi stares a this new friend with a deadpan expression, wondering why he’d rather face your inevitable wrath than just play with you…
so, he stands from the couch and walks over to you and holds his hands out, looking at you expectantly.
“iwa-chan, what’re you doing?” oikawa asks, noticing his presence gone from the couch when he looks over after a particularly enjoyable fight scene.
“i’m dealing with your sister,” he shoots back with a sneer before turning back to you with the same soft expression he held for you prior. “can i have a doll?”
you: (°o°)
and just, like that, as you stare with your mouth agape - oikawa’s a little shocked, too, eyebrows furrowing is slight jealousy - iwaizumi becomes your friend, too.
so for the next ten minutes or so, iwaizumi sits beside you on the wooden floors (oikawa’s huffing from the sofa, wondering when his friend would return his attention to the t.v.) and pretends whatever dolls you have can fly or be more tough than you considered.
(you had you more buy one of you dolls a martial arts outfit just in case iwaizumi would ever agree to play with you again).
you found yourself being extra happy and giddy whenever iwaizumi came over to hang out with your brother (and inevitably you)
“can i play, too?” you’d appear in the backyard after seeing the two toss a volleyball to each other.
your brother loves you, no doubt. he’d easily beat up any one who picked on you.
but he needs his bro time, y'know?“
"it’s one on one right now-”
“-we wouldn’t want you getting hurt, y/n,” iwaizumi cuts him off, scowling at him to be nicer.
iwaizumi always looked out for you, and at five, you believed it was more than your own brother did.
and that instance was the first time he touched your heart and took a little piece with him wherever he went.
AT NINE YEARS OLD …
“hey! wait up!” you call after your brother on his way home from school.
you’re struggling to carry all your school books (you didn’t put them insider your bag because you were rushing to walk home with your brother and iwaizumi).
oikawa stops in his tracks and turns around to face you, sighing, “hurry up then, my slow sister~”
you manage to catch up to him, huffing and puffing by the time you reach him.
“how come you’re still here? dismissal was at 3,” iwaizumi questions from beside your brother, who was previously looking off in the distance of the convenience store, wondering if he had enough coins for a snack. he absentmindedly helps you hold your bookbag up as you pile all of your school books into it.
“yeah, we had practice,” oikawa narrows his eyes at you, adjusting his sling over bag strap on his shoulder, “what were you doing?”
“i can’t be in a club either?” you ask, furrowing your eyebrows at his judgmental gaze. ‘my friend asked me to come to her practice and watch her…“
the two boys beside you nodded their heads and you added, "plus, mom like when i walk home with you.”
that much was true.
it was also true that your friend invited you to her practice. however, you probably would’ve come up with any excuse to be able to walk home with your brother and his classmate.
because you have a crush on said classmate (๑˃ᴗ˂)ﻭ
not that you’d ever tell him (yet)
since you’d been bugging the two since you were five, tagging along with them and hanging out with them wasn’t new or suspicious.
“what are we watching tonight?” you plop down on the sofa, right in between your brother and iwaizumi and dig your hand into the bowl of popcorn on your brother’s lap.
“something rated pg-13 so you cant watch,” oikawa says, swatting your hand away from the bowl as he grins wickedly at you.
“that’s just rude,” you huff and stand from the couch, knowing your mother would scold you if she caught you watching a movie inappropriate for you age.
“maybe another day, y/n,” iwaizumi encourages, eyes never leaving the screen. he lifts his arm, though, offering you a small bag in his hand.
“want the rest of my gummy worms? i know they’re your favorite.”
Σ>―(〃°ω°〃)♡→
(this boy doesn’t even know what he’s doing to you heart).
“thank,” you smile softly, deadpan expression wiped off your face, shyly taking the bag from his hand.
oikawa watches the exchange with suspicion and it’s when he notices the flush of your cheeks and flustered expression as you scamper back to your room that it dawns on him.
AT TWELVE YEARS OLD …
“thanks for the help my stupid brother refused to give me!” you sing happily, skipping beside iwaizumi on your way to school. when you reach the point at which your paths separate - where you go to middle school and he goes to high school - you wave.
“no problem, y/n,” he waves back as you part ways, pulling on the straps of his backpack, now turning to your brother for a new conversation.
reaching school, the boys walked over to their lockers, engaging in small talk about the volleyball match they both watched the night before.
as animated as oikawa wanted to be during the conversation, all he could think of was the dumb smile on your face since you walked downstairs for breakfast.
iwaizumi had come over and helped you with a project the night before, one of those science ones where most students made volcanoes or rock candy.
oikawa never came to you to ask you about your crush when he first had an inkling about it. and you never went to him, admitting to it either.
but you believe it’s universal knowledge that you have a crush on his best friend.
you weren’t exactly trying to hide it from your brother. it was sort of obvious.
to be honest, you didn’t really care about what oikawa had to say about it. nonetheless, you were grateful he never did.
however, as obvious as you made it look, the only person who didn’t seem to know about your crush was iwaizumi.
and oikawa was willing to keep your crush to himself since obviously it wasn’t his crush to reveal.
but for some reason - maybe because you’re especially giddy expression made him a little too antsy to know what his classmate’s reaction to the news would be - today was the day that he just couldn’t keep it in anymore.
“you should stop being so nice to my sister,” his voice is cold as he’s fiddling with the books in his book bag.
iwaizumi pauses what he’s doing in his locker and turns to your brother.
“huh?”
“i’m just saying, i know you help her out a lot but some distance might be good.”
iwaizumi: why tho ಠ_ಠ
oikawa looks at his friend with the most deadpanned face and he realizes:
oh my god, he’s just oblivious.
“maybe ‘cause my sister is in love with you?”
iwaizumi chokes.
and then he laughs.
because what??? haha, that’s real funny, bud.
“i’m serious,” oikawa says, closing his locker door and crossing his arms. “i blame all the time you’ve spent around her but she’s developed a crush on you…i’m more surprised that you haven’t noticed…”
well ofc he didn’t … you’re still in middle school.
“you must be blind. she definitely sees me as a brother.”
“i’d be concerned if that’s the case because ‘sweet home alabama.’” (i know they’re in japan but allow the reference pls)
“she does not like me.”
“fine, fine. don’t believe me then,” oikawa raises his hands in surrender, “but pay closer attention and maybe you’ll see for yourself.”
from that moment forward, iwaizumi paid more attention to you and specifically your actions.
and if your bright smiles and rosy cheeks weren’t a sure tell of your crush whenever he came around, it was definitely the small gifts of treats and snacks you’d shyly give him whenever he’d help you with your homework.
“y/n?” one day, iwaizumi stammers under your gaze, looking down at his hands. “we should talk.”
you also had a habit of staring at him. it was something he didn’t notice at first since he was usually so engrossed with what he was doing. but now it felt like you had laser eyes pointing right at his forehead.
you raise an eyebrow, pushing your notebook aside and plopping your head in your arms, putting your full attention on him. “about what?”
“i know you have a crush on me…”
oh…
that’s when your heart skipped a beat.
so he found out.
the butterflies in your stomach overpowered the embarrassment and you replied:
“so what?”
deep down, you knew it was a stupid crush since you had no chance with him in the first place…
but there was still that sliver of hope in your heart you refused to let go of.
he chuckles after hearing your answer. “i’m too old for you, y/n.“
sure, on the inside, you’re screaming since he was flat out rejecting you but outwardly, you’re showing no regret and instead, utter shamelessness.
“three years older isn’t that much,” you lower your voice to a murmur.
“kinda is. i’m in high school and you’re still in middle school.”
iwaizumi’s usually really careful around you with his words since you were younger but now he was being blunt and straight to the point
he wanted it to be crystal clear to you
“so what?”
iwaizumi: (;一ω一||)
“y/n, did you even hear me?”
“yeah, but you should know me by now to know i’m not just going to stop liking you like that.”
the truth is, as embarrassed as you are at the current event, you’re still stubborn and optimistic.
iwaizumi thought he was doing the right thing by confronting you about your crush on him but…he might’ve made it worse from there on out.
“y/n stop staring at me.”
“but you’re cute.”
oikawa: (¬_¬)
“tooru, y/n, your friend is here!” one of your parents call from the front door when he’d show up later in the day or on a weekend.
it’s a race between you and your brother to greet iwaizumi at the bottom of the steps.
“he’s MY friend!”
“well, he’s MY future husband!”
yeah, your crush only got bigger after he confronted you…
you were able to crush on him freely since he already knew.
did you feel bad since he had to deal with you? maybe a little bit.
but the heart wants what it mf wants >:(
AT FOURTEEN YEARS OLD …
finally!
you made it to high school.
which is most fortunate for you because~
“iwa~ !!!”
you run in the halls to reach the boy you called out for. after those few years without him while you were in middle school, damn you missed him.
great, he thinks to himself, here we go.
“'iwa?’“ matsukawa snickers, repeating the nickname, “who would call you that besides oikawa?”
“the other oikawa,” iwaizumi mutters, closing his eyes.
“oikawa has a sister? 'didn’t know that,” hanamaki muses, rubbing his chin in thought and squinting his eyes as he sees you coming closer to the three guys.
“what’s her deal with you?”
before mattsun could get an answer, you appear in front of them with a bright grin. had you been any other girl, you might’ve been intimidated by the three towers standing before you but you were used to it by now.
“did you eat?” you don’t even greet iwaizumi, holding out a paper bag for him to take. you’d be more bold if you didn’t have an audience but feeling three pairs of eyes on you, you turned your head and puffed out your flushed cheeks.
“no,” iwaizumi starts, ready to politely decline your offering but you plop it into his hands.
“eat up then~ gotta head to class!” you start to walk away from him and when you feel your confidence return, you shoot him fingers guns and a wink, “we need those muscles to stay big and strong right?”
and then you’re gone.
leaving iwaizumi flustered as hell next to the other now grinning seniors.
“ah, so she’s your girlfriend,” makki muses, nudging iwaizumi’s shoulder.
“is not. she just likes me, that’s all…”
“and you don’t return her feelings?” mattsun asks, tilting his head to the side in wonder. “you haven’t rejected her either?”
“of course i rejected her. she’s three years younger than us, it’d be weird…she’s just stubborn.”
“respect,” makki nods his head in approval looking in the direction you’d gone in. “i respect a girl who doesn’t give up.”
“yeah? then you date her,” iwaizumi rolls his eyes before looking down at the paper bag in his hand.
“hey, it’s obvious she got eyes for you, man. that’d just be unfair,” makki responds with a low laugh.
“three years isn’t even that much,” mattsun says with a shrug.
“it is when you’ve known her since she was five.”
“so you still think she’s five or something?” makki asks, raising his eyebrows. “she’s in high school, dude.”
“whatever. i’ll never see her like that.”
“give it a few years, bud,” mattsun pats his back knowingly, “when y’all get married at twenty five, i better hear my name during your speech.”
iwaizumi grumbles something under his breath while makki claps his hands and laughs loudly, agreeing with his friend.
during the year, you found yourself sitting at the same lunch table as your brother and his fellow teammates. obviously you played the ‘i’m your sister’ card on him but everyone can see it was just an excuse to be around iwaizumi
at the beginning, plenty of girls were confused by your presence at the table (they didn’t know you were oikawa’s sister until they knew your last name. after then, they didn’t give you much attention since you weren’t a threat to them)
during lunch, you usually spent your time talking to your brother’s teammates about iwaizumi and they always got a kick from how shameless you were. over time, after you got more comfortable with the rest of the time, you felt more at ease flirting with iwaizumi
iwaizumi was well acquainted with your one sided flirting tactics since you were younger. of course, in the beginning, they were merely innocent compliments coming from your admiration for him
but by the time you reached high school, it escalated to comments about dating…
“still too old for you y/n,” iwaizumi grumbles, picking at his lunch. “always will be.”
you lean forward, crossing his personal space, and prop your elbow on the table and rest your head against the palm of your hand
“when are you gonna forget about this little age gap and realize you’re wasting your time blocking your feelings when we could potentially be great-”
“y/n,” his voice cuts off your playful one like steel when he slams his hands on the lunch table, causing the table to look up from their food and at the two of you. “when is it gonna get through your thick skull that it’s never going to happen? just quit it. you have no chance.”
there’s a pause.
your face pales when you realize you’d gone too far but you’re too hurt to apologize.
you lean back in your seat, putting your hands in your lap, and look down.
as much as you felt like doing at moment, you refused to become the heartbroken girl and run to the nearest bathroom stall. so, you sit quietly across from him, going back to eating your lunch
you don’t say anything else for the rest of lunchtime.
your brother opens and closes his mouth a few times, unsure whether to console you or yell at his best friend but it’s the jab in his side by makki that tells him he’s better off staying silent.
the bell rings when lunch ends and you stand up, quickly striding to throw your lunch away. you walk out of the lunchroom, not bothering to check if anyone is following you or not.
no one is.
that is until… “y/n!”
oh brother.
you turn around in the hall to face your brother.
“what.” you know he must be ecstatic to see his best friend physically trying to sever whatever feelings you have for him.
“i…i’m sorry about back there. i didn’t know he could actually say that,” oikawa’s rubbing the back of his neck, feeling slightly bad from the look on your face.
your face isn’t a sad one, it’s more of a monotone one.
but oikawa knows you better than anyone.
and you were indeed masking your true feelings.
“it’s whatever. i know you hate it but i still like him,” you huff before turning around and stomping off to your next class.
throughout the rest of the school day, your face stays rested in that deadpan expression, only sending pressed smiles that don’t reach you eyes to friends you see around in classes or the halls.
sometime after lunch, iwaizumi sees you in the hall at your locker on his way to class. you don’t see him since you’re looking in another direction.
while walking by, he opens his mouth to call out for you but closes it again and continues his way to class. though, he wonders if you would’ve said hi and wave like you always did if you saw him.
it isn’t until after school, right before he has volleyball practice that he approaches you outside.
he wasn’t surprised to see you walking toward the school gates. he was especially harsh to you today and he knew no matter how much you liked him, you wouldn’t really want to face him without cooling off first
he jogs over toward your retreating figure and when he reaches within ear shot of you, he calls out to you
“y/n.” there’s a calm voice behind you and you freeze in your tracks. you were certainly ready to walk home alone without bothering to wait for your brother or iwaizumi to finish practice
you turn around and ignore the pang of hurt rising in your chest at the sight of iwaizumi
you were used to his nonchalant rejections but this one hit harder than ever before
“what i said in the lunchroom … i’m sorry but i had to say it. i’ve been telling you for years but you still don’t give up.” you can tell he feels bad from the way he’s looking down and is only able to make eye contact with you for a few seconds at a time.
“and i still won’t.”
iwaizumi shoots his head up, ready to say something but you stop him with your hand
“no, you’re going to let me speak. you think i can just control my feelings all the time? so before you say ‘just stop liking me, it’ll hurt less the sooner you do,’ think about me for a second. you think my playful flirting being shot down so strongly by you doesn’t affect me? sure, i don’t act like it does but it feels like awful. it hurts. no matter what, i’m going to be hurt by you, hajime. but i don’t care. because i still have feelings for you. now, i think you have a practice you should be getting to, yeah?”
you don’t let him answer because you’re already walking away from him.
iwaizumi could only watch you leave before he heard someone yell out for him.
it took a few days for the awkward tension from both of your confrontations to subside. but when it did, it was like nothing had happened at all.
your eyes still sparkled whenever you saw him and your stomach still did flips, and he went back to flicking your forehead when you got too close to his face.
yeah things were definitely back to normal between the two of you
except for one thing: your aggression.
maybe his words were a wake up call to you about your actions, because from that day forward, you weren’t so aggressive about your crush.
you reminded him how you felt with little things and made sure he knew your feelings never changed.
but you went about it differently.
no longer did you stick glued to his side when you were around him and his teammates.
you spent time with his other teammates and carried on your own business like homework during their practices.
besides, you couldn’t keep being so clingy when he was about to leave you when he graduated.
“what about your precious brother?” oikawa asks with a pout, noticing the care package you were making for iwaizumi since you were aware he was leaving home for school.
“what about him?” you deadpan, wrapping a bow around the top. “i’ve lived under the same roof as you for my entire life. it’s about time you leave me alone now.”
“you’re so mean.” oikawa sticks his tongue out and crosses his arms. “iwa-chan is gonna like your gift, by the way.”
“of course he is,” you smile with a knowing glint in your eye. “i know him better than he thinks.”
AT FIFTEEN YEARS OLD …
oh, your second year of high school.
even though your brother and iwaizumi had left for college and they were the closest friends you had at school, you still stayed friends with the current members of the volleyball team.
totally not because oikawa and iwaizumi bullied the underclassmen to make sure you weren’t alone.
kindaichi and kunimi became your go-to’s since you were in the same grade.
since becoming a second year, you’d also passed the awkward puberty stage and did receive love confessions on multiple occasions.
ah the life of an oikawa, am i right?
you do be pulling these people though.
“y/n, will you go out with me?” the terrified classmate in your biology class stuck out his hand to give you a small chocolate box.
you instinctively look in the direction of iwaizumi’s locker which he no longer possessed since he graduated.
“the thought is really sweet but … my heart belongs to someone else, i’m sorry,” you frown, feeling the guilt rise in your stomach.
you truly wished you could’ve said yes to those who confessed but you knew if you did, it wouldn’t sit right in your heart.
you wondered if he knew of them and if he did that it was his fault you rejected so many people.
(you do end up accepting a few confessions after your friends urge to give them a chance but those relationships don’t go very far).
unbeknownst to you, your brother tells him absolutely everything
including when you come into his room to ask for advice on how to let people down lightly since it made you feel bad.
“she asks you for love advice? man, save that girl.”
iwaizumi and oikawa split their ways and went to separate universities but still kept in contact through facetime (even if it was against iwaizumi’s will).
cue oikawa calling him randomly at 2am to talk because he was bored.
“hey, you know my way with the ladies,” oikawa grins, looking at his best friend through the screen of his phone.
“what’s the advice for? she tryna confess?”
oh, how iwaizumi hoped you’d moved on after he left for school
“pfft more like the opposite. she asks about how to reject people.”
“oh?”
“oh yeah, she acts like it’s because she doesn’t want a relationship but i think we both know that’s not true,” oikawa lilts knowingly, wiggling his eyebrows.
though he always hated the idea of you liking his friend, by now it was just something he was used to.
in fact, he was probably waiting for it to happen because with your stubbornness, he believed it was bound to happen.
even if his friend didn’t believe it.
“i’m tired now. good night, shittykawa.”
“g’night iwa-chan~”
AT EIGHTEEN YEARS OLD …
“my baby sister is all grown up,” tooru clutches you in his arms, wailing and allowing tears to freely flow down his cheeks
“ugh, get off of me, people are staring!”
just like your brother and iwaizumi did, you and your brother also split and went to separate universities.
“but still~”
“you should be used to not having me around, you’re a senior in college now!”
“can’t i just be a clingy brother for once in my life?!”
“now you wanna use the clingy brother card? you’ve had the chance to use it all my life and NOW you wanna use it? in front of all these people?!”
people passing by on your floor’s hall giggled at your bickering but you managed to win the conversation when you ended up putting your brother in a chokehold
“i’m going to embarrass the shit out of you on your wedding day when you get married, just you watch! … that is if you could even find someone to marry you.”
“thanks, y/n. i no longer feel the need to miss you.” oikawa breaks away from your grin. he brushes himself off and ruffles your hair. “have a great freshman year, baby sis, and don’t be afraid to have fun!”
“yeah, yeah.”
“now if you’ll excuse me, i have somewhere to be! see you at thanksgiving!~” oikawa wiggles his fingers in a goodbye manner, walking down the college dorm hallway until he’s out of sight
what on earth does he have to do on a campus that’s not even his own?
your roommate, mei, is a sweetheart. she’s kind, funny, and from the get-go, you knew she was someone who was going to stick by you.
on move-in day, things were kind of awkward since you were meeting someone that you were going to live with for the rest of the year for the first time. but after the first few days, the both of you opened up and became comfortable.
“so…partners. got one?” she asks on the first night while you two were sitting in front of a party size bag of chips.
“nope,” you answer, popping the 'p’ for extra emphasis. “kinda unofficially taken though.”
“huh, interesting,” she muses, leaning over and grabbing a chip.
“you?”
nodding her head, she finishes swallowing her chip before smiling softly, “i’m doing long distance with my high school boyfriend.”
“oh, wow. good luck,” you answer, feeling somewhat bad for your roommate. when iwaizumi left for school, even if you hadn’t interacted as closely with him like you used to, there was still a hollow feeling in your chest that didn’t go away for a couple of months.
you missed him.
and you made sure he knew.
[6/10/18 11:00AM] you: happy birthday!! miss you a whole lot
[6/10/19 10:00AM] you: g’morning! i hope you have a wonderful birthday! miss youuu~
each time he’d answer with a straight, “thanks.” and you’d have to be the one to continue the conversation
you texted him only sometimes. only when you were especially missing him or found something that reminded you of him
rarely did he ever text you but he made sure to when it came around to your birthday. and you’d be lying if you said your heart didn’t swell when you read the simple birthday message.
maybe you weren’t technically in a long distance relationship, but your heart definitely acted like it.
“thanks! but you got me intrigued. who’s this person who-”
a knock on your door cuts her off followed by a gruff, “RA.”
“WE DIDN’T DO ANYTHING WRONG WE SWEAR!” mei cries in frustration causing you to laugh.
“they’re probably just going to introduce themselves. i’ll get it,” you stand up from the floor and walk to the door and swing it open with a grin.
“hi…” your greet starts off chipper until you register who’s at the door. “iwaizumi? what the hell are you doing here?”
“y-y/n?” he seems dumbfounded by the way his eye bulge out of his head and his jaw drops. “what are YOU doing here?”
and why are you calling me by my full name?
“i go here, what else?” you gesture to your room and in the process, notice mei pucker her lips, obviously sensing tension.
“you go here?”
no way.
no, you were sure your university of choice wasn’t the same as iwaizumi’s.
hell, you even asked oikawa just to make sure you didn’t go there.
it’s not that you didn’t want him around.
come on, you were in love with the guy.
it was more of the fact you didn’t want to seem like you were still chasing after him to this day as embarrassingly as you did as a kid.
but here he was standing right in front of you.
“i thought you were at-”
“i transferred.”
oh, so that’s what happened.
“oh…”
“yeah, tuition got too much so i applied here and as a resident assistant for housing.”
“i see,” you mumble, shifting your wight from one leg to the other. “you look good.”
he did.
and you were underestimating it.
although by senior year of high school he was already built enough, he seemed to have buffed out even more.
“you, too,” he answers, rubbing the back of his neck. realizing your roommate behind you, he gives a friendly wave, “hey, i’m iwaizumi hajime and i’ll be your RA for the year.”
“nice to meet you,” she smiles before turning to you, “is that the one?”
glancing between your roommate and iwaizumi.
of course she figured out by now.
you nod and jab a thumb at him, “yup, this is the guy who stole my heart.”
the reaction you expected from him: (T_T)
the reaction you receive: (⁄ ⁄•⁄–⁄•⁄ ⁄)
“is that all?” you ask turning back to him, “i’m trying to get to know my roommate right now. i’ll deal with you another time.”
“uhh, no! that’s it,” he stammers, stepping out of the way, “you have a nice night.”
“you, too.”
as soon as you shut the door, mei is on her feet jumping up and down. “this is some tv show shit going on! oh my gosh, what are the odds!”
you rub your temples, registering what just happened.
there was no doubt you still had feelings for iwaizumi but after so much time away from him, you’re so unsure of how to act.
you two were grown adults for crying out loud.
sure, you always believed you were endgame.
but in your mind it was in more of an “oh my gosh, we haven’t seen each other in ten plus years and we’re in the same grocery store. let’s catch up!”
not an “oh my gosh you’re going to my university and i’ll probably see you everyday since you live on my floor and you’re my RA.”
once again, the universe is going out of its way to point out, HE’S OLDER THAN YOU. YOU HAVE NO CHANCE. HAHA LOSER.
meanwhile in iwaizumi’s single room …
he tapped his fingers aggressively on his phone screen, waiting for his friend to pick up.
“aw, i just left! what, missing me already?”
“why is y/n here?”
oikawa freezes and whispers, “how’d you find out so quickly?”
“i’m her RA!!”
“for real? hah, that’s rich,” oikawa starts to laugh, wiping fake tears from his eyes. “i should’ve came to your room then. i would’ve noticed we were in the same hall as y/n.”
“you wouldn’t have told me.”
“you’re right. i wouldn’t have.”
“why didn’t you tell me she was coming here?
“why is it so important you know? hey, she asked about your school told and i told her you were still at your other uni-”
“and why would you say that?”
“because i’m sick of seeing my sister alone ok? as soon as you told me you were transferring to her school, i just seized the opportunity! you’ll look out for her, regardless of whatever feelings you have or don’t have for her. it makes me feel better to know she’s got somebody.”
“as evil as you are, i’m letting you have that one because it’s a sweet brotherly thing to do.”
“i know right?”
“and you just ruined it. don’t expect me to just randomly check on her though.”
“but you will,” oikawa sighs, a knowing smile on his face. “even if you don’t like her like she likes you, you’ll still care about her.”
“whatever. bye.”
“bye bye~”
the first semester’s rough since you were getting accustomed to this new way of life.
but honestly, you think you did a pretty good job.
you showed up to class on time, you ate decent meals (most of the time), you studied when you had to and took breaks when needed.
yeah, you were slaying the college game.
until you were locked out of your room in only a towel.
your roommate had an early class that morning so she wasn’t there to let you back in.
which meant: you had to go to the RA office to ask for the master key.
you walked down the hall in nothing but your towel and flip flops, glancing over at iwaizumi’s door when you passed it, hoping he was in there sleeping.
you reached the RA office and lightly knocked on the door before cracking it open.
“sorry for the appearance but i got lock- not you again,” you groan by the end of your statement when you faced a half-awake iwaizumi leaning over the desk.
of course out of everyone to be on duty…it has to be him.
the sound of your voice got him to open his eyes but upon seeing you in said towel, his fatigue became long gone.
had your legs always been that long and toned?
mentally smacking himself for such a thought, he stood up.
“l-let me get the master key.” he shuffles over to a small cabinet and went through the keys. “room 220 right?”
“mhm,” you hum, crossing your arms, trying to hide as much of your body as possible.
you felt v embarrassed rn.
“got it, follow me,” iwaizumi leaves the room and you trail after him like a lost puppy.
“can’t you just give me the key and i’ll return it later?”
“‘m afraid it doesn’t work like that,” even though he’s turned away from you, you still know he’s smiling.
“sleep late?” you ask when he lets out a loud yawn.
“yeah and i’m stuck in that office until 1.”
you nod but you realize he can’t see you so you mumble an, “oh.”
stopping in front of your room, he unlocks it and opens the door for you and gestures for you to go in. “there ya go.”
“thanks,” you lightly smile, walking into your room and hold the handle, ready to close it.
“how’s your semester going?” he blurts before you could start pushing the door closed.
you tilt your head to the side in confusion at his sudden question but laugh anyway, “maybe ask me when i’m not wearing nothing but a towel.”
iwaizumi’s cheeks heat at your comment, remembering you were still in a towel and he scratches the side of his head. “right! sorry. enjoy your day.”
“see you around!” you call when he’s walking down the hall, on his way back to the RA office.
the next time you’re alone with iwaizumi is on a saturday night when your roommate is adamant on playing a game.
“c’mon, everyone’s out partying tonight so shouldn’t we have our own fun?” mei clasps her hands together in a pleading manner and juts out her lower lip.
“what game?” you sigh, standing from your desk and turning to her
“one of the games we have here! we can borrow some from the RA office and return them when we’re done!
“ok then, let’s go.”
you walk behind your skipping roommate as she hums and giggles.
you were glad you weren’t stuck with some maniac.
she stops in front of iwaizumi’s door when she notices the sticker with his name on it on the door.
“have you guys talked?”
“not really,” you shrug.
“really? it’s been two months since we’ve moved in.”
“i mean, he saw me in a towel a while ago since i got locked out of the room but since then no.”
“spicy spicy~” she grins mischievously, continuing on her way to the office. “wanna bet the universe is plotting against you and he’s on duty tonight in the office?”
“i would but i know i’ll lose because it’s what the universe would do to me.”
“have you thought about getting over him?” she asks innocently after a moment of silence, turning to look at you.
“of course. it just never works out. my mind always comes back to iwaizumi and my heart, well, it knows what it wants.”
“that’s really sad, y/n.”
“maybe. but it’s what i’m used to. i’ve never met anyone who gives me the same feeling as he does.”
“and what feeling does he give you?”
by now, you’re standing in front of the RA office on the door. there’s a small little window so residents can see if someone is in there or not. and there iwaizumi was, scrolling on his phone, looking bored as hell.
“home.”
“hi!” mei greets him after she swings the door open
“gotta go shitty-” he cuts himself off, realizing you’d know just who he was talking to.
“-are you talking to my dear brother?” your eyes light and you instinctively run over to iwaizumi and check the screen and yes, there he is.
“tooru!” you shout a greeting like you haven’t spoken in years when you in fact called him that morning. guess it’s seeing him somewhere else that gets you excited.
“y/n, my baby sister! what are you doing there?”
“goodbye shittykawa,” iwaizumi rolls his eyes when he sees the shit eating grin on oikawa’s face. he ends the call abruptly before spinning in his chair to face you. “can i help you, other oikawa?”
you smile and point over to the shelf stocked with games, “we’d like to play a game please.”
waving you off, he mumbles, “knock yourself out.”
you bounce over to your roommate, unknown to the hard stare iwaizumi is sending you.
he’s too deep in his own thoughts to notice he’s staring right at you either.
“there’s only games for three people or more here,” you turn around with a pout
iwaizumi breaks away from his thoughts and shrugs his shoulders, “someone probably took the two person games already.”
you stick your tongue out at his nonchalant and apathetic answer
“how ‘bout you play with us?” mei asks, taking out a handful of games.
“me?” iwaizumi furrows his eyebrows, glancing over at you.
you shrug as if saying, why not?
“i’m on duty right now, i can’t.”
“why not?” this time you voice it.
“if someone needs something-”
“-we’ll pause the game,” you say as if its obvious. “c’mon it’s saturday night and we’re bored! please~”
and just like your roommate did to you, you made your best pleading stance and stare at the love of your life iwaizumi.
and being that you’ve used this face on him a million times since you were five, you were wary he’d not be affected.
but:
“ok, fine, just one game.”
you can’t deny the swell you feel in your heart when you notice the small smile he tries so hard to hide.
(´。• ᵕ •。`) ♡
“plus 12, are you kidding me, y/n?” iwaizumi grumbles, starting to pick up a card from the deck one by one.
“hey, you’re the one who started it,” you shrug, grinning at his obvious frustration.
the three of you were currently in a round of UNO, your third game of the night.
(hah, “one game” my ass)
iwaizumi had only two cards left in his hand and thought he could gain an ever greater advantage if one of you received two more cards
but alas, the higher powers ruling UNO decided now was the time to push him off his high horse.
mei looks through the cards in her hand for her next move before an alarm ringtone went off from her lap.
“that’s for my laundry,” mei glances at her phone to shut off the alarm. “i’ll be back in like ten minutes to drop my clothes off back in the room.” she stands up before looking back at the two of you with an accusatory finger, “no cheating.”
she stepped out of the office and then it was just you and iwaizumi alone
letting out a yawn, (you’ve been yawning this whole time) you check your phone.
“dude, it’s 2am. shouldn’t the RA office be closed now?” you ask, resting your head on your arms as they lay crossed against the office desk
“yeah but we’re in the middle of a game, aren’t we?” iwaizumi doesn’t look up from his hand of cards, sorting them by color and number
“ya coulda’ kicked us out earlier. we were just bored and needed. something to do-”
“-ok but i wasn’t going to cut off the game if i’m winning.”
you open your eyes to send him a pointed expression, “winning, huh?”
“shut up.”
even tired and with eyes closed, you manage to send him a grin
there’s a comfortable silence between the two where your eyes are closed and iwaizumi’s attention flickers between you and his hands
you were the same oikawa he’s known for the past thirteen years.
then how come you seemed like a such a different person?
normally you’d be throwing your flirty banter and compliments his way but all he’s heard from you is what you told your roommate that first day he saw you.
you claimed he still had your heart.
but why weren’t you acting like it?
had you…matured?
iwaizumi gulped and slightly widened his eyes.
and why was he so intrigued now, wanting to know the reason…
“y/n?” he asks, feeling his throat grow dry and covers it with a cough
the only answer he receives are soft snores.
oh.
you fell asleep.
i mean, it was 2am and you’d been playing games for the past few hours. you were surprised you lasted that long.
“i’m back!” mei announces returning back the office before noticing you. glancing at iwaizumi, she pointed at you, “is she out?”
“i think so,” was his simple reply.
“we should just call it a night. y/n, let’s go,” mei walked over and snapped her fingers in front of your face.
you were out like a light.
alexa play sicko mode
“y/n,” iwaizumi speaks this time, going as far as patting your shoulder to which you instinctively nuzzle your head further into your arms
letting out a sigh, iwaizumi stands from his seat, “you go on ahead, i got her.”
mei furrows her brows, wondering what he’d meant but it becomes crystal clear when she notices him crouch down to take her into his arms.
mei was quick to start moving, afraid iwaizumi would see her wide grin and stifled giggles.
he follows her in the hallway with you in his arms, bridal style, occasionally looking down at you.
“you can just plop her on the bed. she’ll move around eventually,” mei breaks iwaizumi from his gaze toward you and he quickly looks up and clears his throat.
“right.”
he walks over to your side of the room and gently places you on the bed.
“is she enjoying herself here?” he asks, glancing over at your roommate quickly before looking back down at your sleeping state.
“i think she is,” he smiles, “i mean, she has a pretty great roommate so i count for something.”
iwaizumi chuckles lowly, careful not to wake you. “funny,” he says before leaning over and pushing a strand of hair that’d fallen over your face away.
leaning back, iwaizumi shoves his hands in his jean pockets and sways back and forth. “sorry for keeping you up. i should’ve kicked you out a while ago.”
“don’t sweat it. we had fun. sorry for interrupting your night. i’m sure y/n would never apologize but i’m sure she feels a little guilty.”
“i had fun, too. so no worries.”
“yeah?” mei grins when he’s outside the door. she was leaning against the door, ready to close it before curiosity got the best of her, “you must know how she feels about you, right?”
iwaizumi rubs a hand over his face, obviously not ready to have this conversation with your roommate at 2:30 in the morning.
“yeah i do-”
“does she have a chance?”
iwaizumi’s throat runs dry.
“i’m too old for you.”
“i’m three years older than you.”
“i’m in high school and you’re still in middle school.”
“when is it gonna get through your thick skull that it’s never going to happen? just quit it. you have no chance.”
iwaizumi’s silence is a cue mei takes to go on.
“because from what i’ve heard from her is that she’s liked you forever. forgive me for overstepping my boundaries but a loyalty that strong for someone? that’s not something you should brush off.”
iwaizumi thinks back on the times he rejected you and takes into account how each and every time you seemed to bounce right back with no shame.
“has she told you why she couldn’t take no as an answer when we were kids?”
mei smiles at his question. “she said your reasoning was dumb.”
his reasoning.
all of his rejections were revolved around your ages.
come to think of it, iwaizumi never said the words “i don’t like you,” to you once.
it was always about age.
“i think she thought that as long as you focused on your age, she’d still have a chance when it didn’t matter. like now, we’re all adults here and and an eighteen year old dating a twenty one year old is pretty common.”
“i uh, gotta get some sleep. i have an early class,” iwaizumi jabs his thumb in the direction of his room down the hall and mei sighs knowingly.
“goodnight,” and before she closes the door all the way, she calls out to him, “think about what i said!”
you awoke the next morning to the sound of your alarm (thank god you toggled the settings so it automatically repeated every day).
gotta get ready for class, you think to yourself, grabbing your toothbrush and toothpaste (and key, you never forget your key now) before slipping into some shoes and walking out into the hall.
on your way to the bathroom you see a familiar face walking in your direction.
iwaizumi is walking your way (in nothing but a towel around his waist) with a toothbrush in his mouth. he doesn’t notice you at first and to be honest, you don’t notice him either.
you’re still tired and can barely keep your eyes open.
it isn’t until he’s an inch away from slamming into your shoulder that you move to the side out of reflex.
“shoot, sorry,” iwaizumi says, mouthful of toothpaste.
“no worries, iwa,” you wave him off with a sleepy smile and continue your way to the women’s bathroom.
iwaizumi pauses for a moment, admiring the way you walked away with no second thought.
you truly were in your own little world when you were half-awake.
amidst this, a small smile tugs at his lips, turning into a grin as he walks back to his room.
from that moment forward, iwaizumi finds himself seeing you more often than before.
at first it isn’t even intentional:
you two walk into your dorm at the same time
more times when you walk past each other in the hall if one of you is on your way to class and the other is coming back from class
but your favorite was when you’d both be in the lounge room at the same time
“whatcha watching?” you’d ask, plopping beside him on the soft sofa and looking up at the t.v.
“reruns of criminal minds.”
and then you’d sit beside each other just watching whatever was playing on the t.v. neither of you spoke unless it was about a scene.
but he still enjoyed your presence.
OK WHAT’S GOING ON WITH ME, he thinks (almost everyday) to himself
never did he act this way around you nor want to be around you this much.
“haji, let’s play foosball!” you break him out of his thoughts one day, already at the game table, gesturing for him to come over
you were quite impressed with yourself with how you were handling seeing iwaizumi so often.
did your stomach flip every time you saw him? yes.
did your heart pound against your chest every time he made eye contact? of course.
and did your stomach let out out a swarm of butterflies every time you saw him smile or laugh? no doubt.
but you managed to keep your feelings at bay.
after all, it had been three years without seeing the man.
of course, you some partners in that time. but your heart was set on one man.
and sure maybe the media would call you a simp but you didn’t care.
(it’s iwaizumi. i’m shamelessly simping)
“they’re having brownies at the dining hall tonight. wanna get some chow later?” you ask, without bothering to look up from the table, too engrossed with your game.
“yeah, i’m starving. loser has to throw away all the trash when we’re done.”
“you’re on,” you smirk.
ending result of the game: you won.
iwaizumi is telling you it’s because he let you but that’s only to protect his ego.
“yeah, sure you did. anyway, let’s go!” you tug his arm out of the building and walk in the direction of the dining hall.
feeling the chilly breeze against you, you shove your hands into your sweater pockets and out of instinct, shuffle closer to iwaizumi, hoping his body heat would warm you up.
surprising you, he doesn’t mind being shoulder to shoulder with you and doesn’t move away.
the two of you walk into the dining halls and settle for a table near the back.
“i’ll watch the table, you go first,” he shoos you with his hand and takes a seat at the small booth for two. you grin and nod and he watches you skip away from him and in the direction of the food
you’re too cute, he thinks to himself as a smile threatens to grace his lips
five minutes pass you return with a plate of food.
“really?” iwaizumi raises an eyebrow at your choice of a meal. it was 40% dinner and 60% sweets and desserts.
“really.”
sighing, he knows if he tried to convince you to not take as many sweets, he wouldn’t win. he stands from his seat and walks in the direction of food (definitely less excitedly than you did).
he returns with his food soon after and you’re sitting together, exchanging words and teases back and forth. it’s a cute sight to see and if any stranger were to look at you, it definitely looks like the two of you were together.
“if you procrastinate again and you show up at my door with those puppy dog eyes, i’m only saying ‘i told you so,’“ iwaizumi chuckles and you throw a french fry out of mock anger.
“you wouldn’t. my puppy dog eyes get you ~weak~ and you know it. just like when we were kids.”
the two of you are laughing until it dies down, registering the last part of your sentence.
when you were kids.
“it’s been a while, huh?”
you nod, “mhm, we’ve known each other a long time.”
iwaizumi stays silent, fiddling with his fingers underneath the table.
should he bring up what he’s wanted to for the past few weeks?
before he can, you lean back and rest your head against the back of the booth seat. “man, i’m stuffed.”
iwaizumi raises an eyebrow and says, “well you ate like four brownies so i’m sure you are.”
you reply by sticking out your tongue and pushing your tray toward him. “throw it out please~”
iwaizumi rolls his eyes but slides out of the booth and takes both of your trays and walked in the direction of the disposal area.
“i’ll meet you in the front, ok?”
he nods and the two of you part ways. iwaizumi walks over to the disposal area and a look of defeat crosses over his features.
you couldn’t tell her…
why not?
‘cause you’re a coward.
iwaizumi shakes the thoughts out of his head and balls his now free hands into fists.
it’s not the right time.
but she’s only been waiting for thirteen years…
sighing, he shoves his hands into his pockets and masks his frustration with his normal resting face.
he’s ready to greet you and start walking back to your dorm when he notices a taller figure beside you.
stepping closer he feels his stomach drop.
“no boyfriend?” the man smiles, taking a step closer to you, “i can change that, if you’d like.”
iwaizumi is already bunching up the sleeves of his sweatshirt up his forearms, ready to start something, before he notices your bored gaze at the man in front of you.
“sorry, i’m taken.”
“i don’t see you with anybody?” the man’s grin never falters as he looks around you in search of someone.
by the time he says that, iwaizumi is somewhat close and within your eyesight.
noticing the look of relief washing over your face, iwaizumi allows you to grab hold of his arm and swings him around to face the flirting man
“this is him and he’ll punch you square in the jaw if you try me.”
the man raises an unimpressed brow before slowly looking over at the taller man beside you.
gruffly, iwaizumi responds, “i will.”
the man scoffs and walks away from you, leaving you and iwaizumi alone
you’re stunned.
what you had said was based on pure instinct but you never expected iwaizumi to play along. the two of you quietly walk out of the dining hall and you stop once you’re both outside.
“thanks,” you mumble, feeling your cheeks flush, “i didn’t mean to say that, it was just a reflex and he wouldn’t leave me alone and you were ther-”
iwaizumi cuts you off by cupping your cheeks in his hands. a beat passes with the just the two of you staring at each other before he (FINALLY) leans down and presses his lips to yours.
your eyes are wide and your body frozen but with a few seconds, you were able to register what was happening and you melt into his arms, leaning forward.
you kiss for a while, probably looking strange to people walking in and out of the dining hall but you don’t care.
ending the kiss with a few peppered pecks on your lips and your cheeks, iwaizumi lets go of you and allows you to regain your own balance
“i’m sorry it took so long for me to do that,” he mumbles, looking down in embarrassment.
“hajime, the absolute love of my life,” you coo reaching your hand up to caress his cheek. “don’t apologize. after all, i won two games today.”
leaning against your hand, iwaizumi furrowed his brows before asking, “what was the second game?”
“the waiting game.”

WHEN YOU'RE CRYING
PAIRINGS: Miya Atsumu x GN!Reader | Oikawa Tooru x GN!Reader | Kageyama Tobio x GN!Reader | Suna Rintarou x GN!Reader
GENRE: Comfort | Romance
WARNINGS: none (some mistakes i havent checked)
SONG: In My Head — Bedroom
A/N: im sad so i started with kageyama and then it turned into this so pls enjoy. currently have a lot of things going on so please excuse my lack of activity lately.
ATSUMU — "Hey Baby, what're the tears for?" Your boyfriend softly chuckled as he let the tips of his fingers swipe the top of your cheek, sitting beside you at the end of the bed. "Have I ever told you how pretty you look when you cry?" he whispered. You bit your lip with a stifled smile, trying not to forget about the reason you were a mess in the first place. "There they are," he smiled, pinching the skin of your face and pulling it outward—only enough to make you sniffle and breathe a laugh—before letting his lips drift to your forehead and sticking them there, basking in the enveloping warmth of your body melting into his.
TOORU — His frown tugged a little too harsh on his face, his eyebrows furrowed in concentration and understanding as he held your head and back with the palms of his hands while your shoulders shamefully shaked in his grasp. He had an idea of why you were crying, he could see it in your face, but he didn't need to know the specifics. He just wanted your tears to stop flowing from your pretty eyes and a smile to return to your glowing face. His lips rested on the crown of your temple and stayed there until your head peeked up from his chest, and your shoulders slowed to a normal rise and fall.
TOBIO — He huffed in frustration at the confusion of him not understanding the situation, but he still caged you like a glass waiting to be broken, and he still spoke to you in the lightest tones you'd ever hear from him. He was mad that he didn't know how to handle the situation, he was mad that you were not okay. He wondered if he had caused it, but he physically shook his head to get rid of the intrusive thought. When you gripped the back of his jacket in desperation, he felt like you needed him in that moment. So he held you closer, embracing your entire figure even when you collapsed to the floor, your legs no longer supporting you. So he made sure he did.
RINTAROU — He became genuinely concerned about your sniffles when you walked in the door with your wrists tugging at your cheeks to wipe the teardrops that just won't stop falling down. You turned your head when you saw him click his phone off in embarrassment, but you still couldn't hide the frown that dragged your mouth down. "Y/n? C'mere, what's wrong?" He gently pulled your arm towards himself and sat himself on the stool with your body standing in between his thighs, dipping his head under yours to find your direct line of vision. He took your hands in his and squeezed them, letting you know to take your time and be comfortable. He was always gonna be there, you know.

i’m not that kinda guy. atsumu had told himself that. and a lot more so recently.
all of this shit was his brother, wasn’t it? showing up for a first date with flowers, meeting your parents at the door and introducing himself like he was worth something, holding your hand as though you wouldn’t let him crash and burn the second you got whatever it was you wanted from him.
he also says he’s not the type to be insecure. that may be a lie as well.
“atsumu?” you asked.
his eyes snapped up to meet yours. you tilted your head a little, confusion written on your face and in your eyes. atsumu was never this nervous looking, not unless he has a reason.
“whats wrong with you? you’ve been weird since yesterday.”
then his eyes broke away from yours and returned to the floor. he didn’t respond right away. for a moment, you wondered if you shouldn’t have asked him, but then he sighed and answered you.
“aren’t you done yet?”
“...what are you taking about, tsumu?”
“our... our relationship. no one stays this long.” he was content with living out a day dream for a while, letting himself believe he’d gotten something good.
but there’s a point when he knows he’ll he ripped apart if you leave, and he fears (rather, he knows) he’s long since passed that point. the only thing he could do now was cut the rope before it got any tighter.
“oh.” you mumble, slouching a little. he can hear the sadness in the one word and he finally looks up at you again. “if you don’t want me t-”
“hey, hey, no. never said that. but aren’t you... i don’t know, haven’t you gotten what you need from me by now?”
so thats what this is about, you thought. osamu had mentioned it before, that he was worried about you leaving.
“yes.” you say simply. you swear you can see his heart stop in his chest, see the world crash down around him just from the fear in his eyes. “but i still need it, always will. no one else is gonna love me like you do.”
you watched his eyes soften. he moved to crawl across the couch, his arms wrapping around you and his head resting on your tummy.
“i don’t think anyone can love you more than i do.”
"are you feeling good now cutie?" he asked while brushing your hair softly.
"mmhm," you lift your head from suna's chest and gave him a smile half mouthed.
"i told you before and i will told you again. please," suna put his palm on your cheek when you were about to lower your head.
"don't bottle up your emotions. don't hide yourself from me. whatever you are feeling; angry, sad, happy, depressed. tell them to me so you won't get crushed under those feelings."
as if you weren't emotional enough, his words made your eyes teary. staring at him deeply made your heart ache as well. not because anything bad, just his lovingly caring eyes.
"oh god, don't cry again." he said laughingly. but you couldn't stop yourself and when your lips wobbled suna pulled you into his arms.
embracing his body tightly, you put your face in his neck and kissed him there before letting your tears to fall. there was a feeling on your chest heavy yet light. loving him was making your heart heavy but it was the best feeling ever. i couldn't reflect here well but yk you just love someone sm that your chest hurts idk weird
suna started to stroke your hair while you were enjoy being in his presence.
"i love you." you said after putting your palm on his cheek.
"i love you too." suna said letting his head fall on your head. even if it was just toward evening, both of you were sleepy.
before him not falling asleep properly you raised your head from his neck and pulled his head softly to yourself to give his cheek a tender kiss.
"sweet dreams."

#Includes: Sakusa, Atsumu
#Description: What happens when you and the boys find yourself in a predicament with there only being one bed. Who will let you share and who will make you sleep on the floor? Nah I’m playing neither make you sleep on the floor…or do they.
You swore the world was out to get you today. Not only had you spilled hot coffee on yourself this morning which led you to almost miss the bus, you also happened to stub your toe not once but twice! So, as you stood at the threshold of your hotel room which happened to also be Sakusa’s you wondered what you had done to receive this fate. It’s not that you dislike Sakusa, it’s quite the opposite, you rather enjoy his company, it’s that you’re aware of Sakusa’s preferences and know he would feel rather uncomfortable sharing a room with someone he isn’t that close with. You had only recently become a manager for MSBY and while you felt you quickly connected with the other boys, Sakusa remained distant, but you were okay with that, you didn’t mind working a bit harder to make him feel comfortable with you.

+ scenarios. tsukishima, tendou, ushijima.
+ warnings. mentions of anxiety, overthinking and insecurities
$. USHIJIMA could always tell when something was wrong, he was a man of few words but he knew you well enough to be able to notice when you started to overthink. He didn’t say much, settling for just taking your hands into his and bringing them up to his lips to press a light kiss against your knuckles, “It’s okay.. talk to me, angel. I’m right here.” He was always patient with you, nodding along to with your rambling and not once interrupting you until he was sure you were finished. His eyes might seem cold to everyone else but you could see through the facade he built up, the softness in his gaze as he held your face in his hands like you were made of glass before his low voice fills the quiet room. “You’re always going to be good enough, love. Making a single mistake doesn’t define your worth. You and I both know what you’re capable of, don’t let this drag you down..”
$. TSUKISHIMA was familiar with the fact that you weren’t a fan of crowded places, they were always too loud for your liking and honestly he wasn’t a fan of them either. The moment he notices you starting to get overwhelmed, he quickly slips his headphones off of his neck and carefully puts them on you with a rare yet reassuring smile. “Better..?” He doesn’t let his attention shift from you, eyes just lingering on your form and waiting for a response before you finally gave him a gentle nod and a quiet whisper, “Thank you.” All he does is shake his head at your words, paying them no mind and swiftly wrapping his arms around your waist while his palms rested against your lower back as he led you away from the crowd. “No need to thank me, dumbass. This place was getting boring anyways, why don’t you pick where we go next, hm.”
$. TENDOU wasn’t a stranger to insecurities, he battled quite a lot of his own when he was younger. It was something he’d never want you to experience which is why the moment he saw you crouching on the floor all teary eyed he had an idea of what to do. He carefully walked over to you and kneeled in the spot in front of you, wiping away the tears that rolled down your flushed cheeks. “What’s wrong, princess?” You kept denying his questions until you finally gave in, hiding your face into your pals while you talked about how you felt like you weren’t pretty enough—how you thought he could be with someone better and that just didn’t rub him the right way, not at all. “You couldn’t be any more wrong, baby.. you aren’t pretty, you’re gorgeous—absolutely breathtaking and there’s no way I would ever find anyone better, I already have you..”

ft. sakusa kiyoomi, tsukishima kei
you're not oblivious to the fact that kiyoomi is a very conscious person
that's one of the things you loved about him
he was hygienic and he always made sure that his health was his utmost priority
but one downside is that kiyoomi had the tendency to push people away because of his straightforwardness
you were used to it and in fact, you were one of those people he tolerated
but everyone has their bad days
and unfortunately for you, today was kiyoomi's and since you were always attached to him by the hip, he unintentionally snapped at you
what's worse is that he snapped at you the moment you confessed to him
"Omi!" you shouted happily as you entered the gymnasium, giving Komori a small wave before making your way to where Kiyoomi was sitting.
He looked at you with a frown. He wasn't wearing a mask since they were training awhile ago and only took a quick break. "Y/n, what are you doing here?"
You sat beside him making Kiyoomi grimace and slightly move away. You frowned at him, completely displeased at the action. "I just wanted to give you a visit. Plus, I have something to tell you."
You started to fiddle with your fingers nervously. You practiced your confession several times already but doing it seemed harder than you thought.
"What is it? Talk, I'm not in the right mood to socialize right now."
Out of panic, you quickly blurted out a rather loud, "I like you!" You immediately covered your mouth with your hand and stared at him wide eyed.
The other players looked at you with sympathy, knowing what's about to happen. Out of all days, you really had to confess today, when Kiyoomi was in a pissy mood after several fangirls pushed themselves against him this morning, not minding his personal space.
Kiyoomi stared at you with a serious expression before standing up. "I don't like you. Leave."
"But Omi.."
"You're irritating and you always bother me when it is clear that I don't want your company." He turned around and left you on the bench, your head casted down in humiliation.
You whispered a small sorry before running out of the gym with tears falling from your eyes.
For the next few days, you did your very best to stay away from Kiyoomi. You changed your route to school knowing that your usual route meant that you have to pass by his house. Even if you got scolded several times for being late, you did not stop.
You sat near the door so you can easily exit the room after class. You even stopped eating with Komori and Kiyoomi during breaks and lunch. Even your usual routine of visiting the gym during practices was stopped.
At first, Kiyoomi didn't mind. He knew that you'd come back in a few days just like you always did. You like him after all, right?
But when a few days turned into weeks, He started getting bothered. Why weren't you pestering him like always? Why did you stop visiting him? You said you like him, right?
It was the second week that Kiyoomi took action. He woke up extra early to wait for you infront of your house, aiming to confront you about your behavior.
When you went out, your eyes widened slightly upon seeing Kiyoomi waiting for you outside. He was wearing his face mask while staring at you intently, letting you know that he purposely waited for you.
You looked down and was about to walk pass him when you felt him tugging on your wrist. Your gaze snapped to his hand, not believing that he was indeed touching your skin.
"Sakusa?"
His eye twitched at the weirdness of you not calling him like usual. Sighing, he stepped a little closer to you, hand still holding your wrist to ensure that you won't run away from him.
"You're ignoring me," he said while eyeing you. "Why?"
You took your hand from him and furrowed your brows. "I'm just doing you a favor. I don't want to be a bother anymore. Isn't this what you wanted?"
"I-"
"It's fine, Sakusa. You don't have to force yourself to apologize just because you feel bad or obliged to."
He ran his fingers through his hair in frustration. "I'm not apologizing because I feel bad."
"Then what? You're apologizing just to make fun of me? I know I said I like you but that doesn't mean that you have the right to-"
"You don't get it!"
At this point, you were both raising your voices. Some passersby were looking at you two weirdly, some even running as to not get caught up in the fight.
"Get what, Sakusa? Why don't you tell me so I can understand?!"
"I like you!" Kiyoomi exclaimed. "I... Fuck. I like you, okay? I wasn't in the mood when you confessed and I rejected you without thinking. I messed up. The moment I saw you walk out, I knew I fucked up real bad and I-"
"Om-"
"And I thought that you'd come back the next day to bother me again like usual. I wanted to apologize but my pride-"
You sighed as he continued to ramble. With fast movements, you stood on your tiptoes and encircled your arms around his neck to pull him down to you, kissing him over his mask.
When you let go, Kiyoomi was silent. His eyes were wide and you thought that you went over board. Panic made its way to your face as you try to find the words to explain.
"Sorry, I didn't me-"
This time, he was the one to cut you off. Kiyoomi took off his mask and bent down to kiss you on your lips. One of his arms snaked around your waist to support you while the other settled on your nape, angling you to him.
"Be my s/o."
Everyone in Karasuno knew how much you like Tsukishima
In fact, you remind him everyday
You often give him fresh strawberries from the market and even bake him strawberry cake
Sometimes, you would put little sticky notes on his belongings and write some encouraging words like "you can do it", "I believe in you" or "take it easy!"
On his birthday, you even gave him a hoodie with a dino design (which he secretly loved)
There are times that you knew Tsukishima gets irritated when you visit and even snaps at you but you didn't mind. You liked him and a small snap will not discourage you
But what you didn't know was that it would only take one conversation to completely shatter your heart
"-And they're back," Sugawara said as he saw you enter the gym, a bubbly smile present on your face as usual.
"Kei!" You skipped your way towards Tsukishima and handed him his water bottle which you voluntarily refilled with hot water.
He only gave you a 'tsk' and took the water bottle. Adjusting his glasses, he stared at you from head to toe as if analyzing you, a small blush appearing on his cheeks.
"What are you looking at? Have you finally come to realize that you like me back?" you cheekily asked, poking his bicep.
"No. I was just wondering how someone could look so ugly."
Despite what he said, you forced yourself to giggle, covering your upset feeling with an eye roll. "Oh shut up, Kei. You don't have to hide it, you know? Don't worry, I'm not going to reject you."
You winked at him causing Tsukishima to blush even more.
The rest of the boys snickered and laughed at his reaction which made Tsukishima more embarrassed than he already is.
"Just confess to the girl already, Tsukishima. Can't you see she's trying hard to win you?" Daichi said with a small chuckle while patting Tsukishima's back.
Tsukishima just huffed and pushed his glasses up. "What's there to like? They're nothing but an eyesore anyway."
"What?" you asked in disbelief.
Having a playful banter with Tsukishima was normal in your routine but this was the first time he called you such an offensive term. Does he really think of you that way?
"Oh come on, stop acting dumb. I don't even get why there are guys running after you. I mean, there's really nothing much to look at, right?"
Everyone grew quiet at what he said, clearly not expecting Tsukishima to be at such level of rudeness.
You swallowed the lump forming in your throat as your insecurity skyrocketed. "I try hard every single day to look presentable to you. I-"
You paused for a moment to laugh pathetically at yourself. "I exert a lot of effort to make you notice me. I cook for you, I give you gifts. Heck, I even stay after class to help clean the gym so that the task would be easier for you and I'm not even asking for anything in return."
Tsukishima glared at you sharply that you immediately felt extremely smaller than him. "I never asked you to do those things for me."
"Can't you at least show me that you care?" You wiped your tears with the back of your hand. "Because I'm slowly getting tired of this push and pull game."
"Don't you get it? I don't like you. Why don't you stop pushing yourself to me and start getting a life, hm?"
"Tsukishima, that's enough!" you heard Daichi yell at him.
"Y/n?" Sugawara was immediately beside you, his hand rubbing circles on your back in attempt to calm you down.
"No-" You lifted your face up to meet Tsukishima's eyes. "I think he's right. I should stop being a nuisance and focus on myself."
"I'll leave you alone. I'm sorry," you said before giving Tsukishima a bow and leaving the gym with everyone's eyes following your figure until the door shut.
Everyone could only look at Tsukishima as he cursed under his breath.
"Shit."
The moment you left the gym, you headed straight to the comfort room to let your tears out. You stared at yourself on the mirror as tears cascaded down your cheeks.
"You're beautiful," you reassured yourself while pointing at your own reflection. "What he said doesn't make you any less. Know your worth."
You wiped your tears and splashed your face with cold water before getting out and heading to class without sparing Tsukishima any glance.
You ignored Tsukishima, stopped visiting the gym and focused on yourself. You even made made friends with some of your classmates that you didn't bother getting associated with last time because you were too focused on capturing the attention of Tsukishima.
Unbeknownst to you, a certain male was eyeing you as you interact with other people. He blamed himself for pushing you away. He didn't talk to you, thinking that you only wanted space for a couple days before bothering him again.
He knew that what he said was out of line and he regret everything he did. He even asked Yamaguchi and the rest of the team for advice but all of them responded with the same answer - apologize and tell you how he feels.
Tsukishima gripped the pen tightly as he watched you laughing at something your classmate said. The said classmate was too close to you and it was obvious that he was trying to flirt with you.
"Tsukki?" Yamaguchi called out. He followed Tsukishima's gaze and sighed. "Why don't you go and talk to them?"
"Tsk. Why would I do that? Can't you see they're enjoying his company?" Tsukishima bitterly said.
"You'll end up losing them if you don't do something about it now. Who knows, they might already be lo-" Yamaguchi stopped as Tsukishima instantly stood up and made his way to where you are.
Taking your wrist, he pulled you towards him, heading out of the classroom.
"Tsukishima, what the hell?!" You tried to resist but his grip on your wrist only tightened.
You gasped as he suddenly stopped, trapping you against a wall with his arms beside your head.
"I'm sorry." Tsukishima closed his eyes, balling his fist as he bowed his head. "I said hurtful words to you and no amount of apology will take those away but I want you to know that I regret every single one of it."
You bit your lower lip as you felt yourself tearing up once again. "Do you really think that I'm ugly? I was hurt, Kei. It's just.."
"I'm sorry." His hand made its way to your cheek, cupping your face while he wiped your tears with his thumb. "You're not ugly."
You shook your head and averted your gaze from him, a sob escaping your lips as you felt yourself falling for him deeper. "Don't. Just stop. I'll accept your apology but please just leave me be. I won't be able to stop my feelings for you if you keep leading me on."
"But I don't want you to stop."
"What?"
"I've fallen for you." He tipped your chin up with his hand making you look at him and you were surprised to see the vulnerability in his features. "Please look at me again, y/n. Keep loving me because I swear that I'll do things different this time. Give me a chance."
You can't help but encircle your arms around him, burrying your face on the side of his neck as you nodded repeatedly. "One chance, Kei."
Tsukishima hugged you tightly, lips pressing on the side of your head. "One chance." He leaned away from you and held your face with his hand, eyes boring to yours admiringly.
"You're beautiful."

— bokuto kotaro.
the thought was suffocating when you realized your feelings for bokuto. you had been best friends since high school, and even though you were not as energetic as he was, your relationship flowed very naturally. you were afraid to ruin this, so in the first moment you kept your feelings to yourself and pretended it didn’t hurt when he told you about his feelings for a certain person. it was weeks of crying in the shelter of your room, imagining scenarios where you could be genuinely happy and not in love with your best friend. one night, when you figured it would be just another moment feeling miserable and lonely, someone knocked on your front door and your heart froze when you found bokuto standing there, looking as tense as you had ever seen him, wearing his best clothes and holding what looked like a box of chocolate, your favorite. “i know it’s kind of late, but, would you like to go on a date with me?”

HELPING HAIKYUU BOYS WITH THIER INSECURITIES
#Genre: Fluff, Reverse comfort, slight angst
#Includes: Osamu, Ushijima.
#Warnings: Just going to be talking about body and self image issues/ insecurities.
OSAMU
Osamu had never really cared too much about how he looked until recently. He was busy, too busy some would say. His days were spent taking care of and managing his restaurant which left little to no time to do anything else, including working out or taking care of himself. Now he wasn’t out of shape by any means but the lack of attention to his body had made him become a little…soft. Once hard muscle and toned limbs morphed into softer and rounder curves that were new to him, it was different and he didn’t know if it was a good different.
He found himself stood in front of a mirror shirtless and just observing his body. His hands ran across the expanse of his softer but still firm chest and now slightly rounded belly that was adorned with a layer of fat. He couldn’t help but compare himself to his twin brother. The plethora of shirtless pictures Atsumu posted reminded Osamu of his past or more so past physique and he couldn’t help but think if he’d look like that if he spent more time taking care of himself.
The feeling of you wrapping your arms around him from behind and resting your cheek against his back broke him out of his daze. “Hey… what were you doing?” You asked softy. He softy shook his head,“nothing, don’t worry about it baby” “talk to me Samu I can tell when there’s something wrong”.
He let out a tired sigh while continuing to look at himself “I… I just don’t know if I like..what I see anymore” you scrunched your eyebrows in confusion and as if Osamu could read your mind he continued, “I don’t look the way I used to anymore, I’m not strong and built and I can’t help but compare myself to Tsumu, wouldn’t you rather be with someone like that?”. You let out a laugh of disbelief, “Tsumu…really babe?” “You know what I mean”. You poked your head from behind his back so he could see your face in the mirror, arms still tightly wound around his front.
“Baby…you may not look like how you used to but that isn’t a bad thing. People change and grow everyday and I’d be surprised if you still looked like that” “but-” “ahh let me finish. Firstly, Tsumu looks like that because it’s his job! Secondly, just because you’re now a little softer - which I love- doesn’t mean you aren’t strong, personally I think you’re stronger” you smirk at him which gets you a chuckle. “Theres that smile! I love you Osamu, no matter what you look like and that’s not going to change. But I’ll support you no matter what and if there’s even a tiny part of you that’s insecure because of what I might think then shut that shit down real quick. You’re so fucking hot and sexy, especially like this. Look at this strong chest and these thick arms that make me feel so safe and loved” you say as you run your hands across his chest and up his arms while littering his back with kisses. You feel him slightly shiver under your touch and turn to face you. He brings his face close you yours and brushes your nose with his “thanks baby, that means a lot, a lot more than you think” “I’m just letting you know the truth” you whisper against his lips.
And while Osamu’s insecurities may have not completely left, your words definitely helped.
USHIJIMA
Ushijima wasn’t one to take peoples negative words into account. He brushed of harsh comments and negative criticisms like it was nothing, especially when it came to him and how he portrayed himself. He knows he doesn’t look as welcoming as his other teammates and he was okay with that, looking friendly and happy wasn’t part of his job description so why would he change anything? He walked around with a stoic face accompanied by monotone expressions without a care.
At this point he’s heard it all. He’s been told to ‘smile more’ or had it explained to him that he looks scary and serious all the time. It never occurred to him that he was unapproachable though, what people deemed his ‘scary’ and ‘stoic’ face was just his…face and he was confused about why he should change that, would people like him more? Come up to him more?
However, the one persons opinion he valued was yours. He never wanted you to think he was scary or unapproachable and hoped you didn’t see him that way and for the most part he believed you didn’t. But there was a small part of his brain that convinced him that you believed what the others thought, that he should smile more. With contrasting personalities it wasn’t hard to believe that, while you happily wore a smile on your face, he stuck out like a sore thumb next to you. A part of him thought you deserved someone more like yourself, someone who looked content as they stood by your side but he refused to let that happen. Because no matter how much he believed you deserved better he wanted that better to be him. He doesn’t want to let you go because he does love you and he is happy when he’s with you even if he can’t show it, so if changing the way he acts means being better, then he’ll do it… for you.
“Why are you looking at me like that?” You asked as you glanced up from your phone. Ushijima sat on the opposite end of the couch and wore an expression of…discomfort? You didn’t know it was hard to tell. “Like what?” He got out. “Are you uncomfortable or something? You look like you’re in pain” you chuckled out. You didn’t think your teasing remark would effect him but as you watched his face drop and usual frown return, you thought you may have said the wrong thing. “It’s nothing” he sighed out. “Hey I’m sorry, did I say something wrong? What’s going on love”. You watch as he briefly looks away and then looks at the ground as he mumbles out “I was trying to smile at you”. You squinted your eyes as you drawled out “whyy…?”
“I don’t want you to think that I’m not happy with you because I am and it’s come to my attention that maybe I should start showing you more”
“Who put that idea in your head?” You asked with shock. Since when was your Toshi someone who worried about stuff like this. You didn’t think you gave him any impression that would imply you’re not happy with him or how he acts. You slowly realised that maybe this was a deeper issue than he let on and wanted to reassure him as quickly as possible. You crawled over to his side of the couch and sat in his lap, his hands automatically going to rest on your waist. You gently placed your hands on his cheeks and turned him to meet your eyes “look at me baby. I’ve never thought that, not even once. I don’t need you to smile at me and act happy 24/7 for me to know you like being with me” you say as you move one hand to run through his hair. He softly stokes your sides as he stares intently at you, making sure he doesn’t miss a word. “You wanna know a secret?” You smirk. He briefly nods his head and urges you to continue, “You have tells Mr Wakatoshi, they’re your eyes. I don’t need to see a smile on your face to know you’re happy baby becuse your eyes tell me, and that’s all that matters” you slowly lean in as you whisper your next words “plus I love that I’m the only one that gets to see and experience your rare smiles” and with those words he can’t help himself as he reveals one of those said smiles.
You lean in and place a peck on his lips and lean back, watching as he follows you for more. “Plus I think your ‘serious face’ is hot” you casually mention, He definitely can’t stop the laugh that makes its way out because god does he love you, you always know just what to say. “Yeah? You thinks it’s hot” “Mmh, very” “fuck smiling then” and that get you joining him in his laughter. He quickly realises it was stupid to ever doubt you because of course you’d know he loves you, you know things about him that no one else would be able to figure out in decades.
Note: So this was new ! Never really written anything like this before so hopefully it’s okay.

[3:02 AM - SUNA]
suna grunts softly as he crouches on the balcony, quickly but quietly pushing up the stiff window.
it feels like forever until he finally opens it up wide enough to fit though, but it's the last thing on his mind as he pushes his legs in first, and slips into your room.
he closes the window behind him, before giving the room a once over. a few vanilla candles are lit, but the room is still dark, and he can't see a thing.
he walks over to where he remembers your bedside lamp being, and flicks it on.
his eyes roam over to your bed first — technically the one you should be asleep in at 3 in the morning — but he isn't surprised when he doesn't see you.
he instinctively walks to your closet, but pauses outside.
"y/n?" he calls out softly, placing a hand on the cool metal of the doorknob. "can i come in, pretty?"
he's answered with a quiet sniffle, then a mumbled, "no."
suna sighs calmly and crouches down, his fingers intwined. "what happened, y/n?"
you don't respond, but suna has enough patience to cover the world when it comes to you, so he takes off his sweater, sits down on the carpet, and waits.
five minutes pass until a sob breaks out from behind the door, and suna's head darts up. between shaky sobs, suna makes out: "it was just a dream, but it felt so real."
but you're crying again, and suna can't quite figure out what to do.
"the way you said her name, rin, it hurt so much. the way you looked at her; you only ever look at me like that."
suna shuts his eyes, and runs a hand down his face. "can i open the door?"
"you know what scares me the most? that all the things we do together, one day, you'll do them with someone else. everything that's special to us will be special to another girl."
suna stands up, twists the doorknob, and pulls it open.
flicking on the light switch, he looks down to find you crisscrossed on the floor, puffy eyes and puffy cheeks, and tears streaming down your face.
he kneels down in front of you, and cups your damp cheeks with both of his hands. your lips fold in as your face crumbles once more, another wave of tears and sobs coming in.
"y/n," he sighs, pulling you into him as you sob against his chest, fisting his shirt in your hands. "the things that are special to us, will always only be ours. they'll never be for anyone else, because there never will be anyone else. our special things will always be our own."
your body trembles and shakes as you cry against him, but suna holds you tight, leaving kisses after kisses on your head to soothe you.
suna is always there to soothe you.
of course he'll miss a few tears, and sometimes he won't be there when you wake up calling for him, but he'll catch the next bus to your house, or walk the mile if he has to. he'll climb balconies and jump through windows at 3 in the morning to catch your tears and cuddle you back to sleep, or even stay with you until day break to fight them off if he has to.
"there will never be anyone better for us than each other, my pretty girl. there will never be anyone like you for me."
you're falling asleep in his arms, the kisses on your head slowly coming to a stop.
as suna carries you back into bed, he prays that the universe will be a little lighter on you.
this is an almost retelling of something that happened just the other day with me and my boyfriend, so i guess this is just a little appreciation post for him, because life has been so good after him. we have our rough patches and i am a handful, but he's always so patient and understanding for me, and is always willing to adapt and change to work with me, as am i. i'm so thankful for him, and i love him so much.
