certain breed of pathetic beast
Can we all just appreciate just how INCREDIBLY unsubtle the G-Witch OP is? XD
Fandom still characterizes Chara as a stabby, mean, out-of-control child even in life...
...but the fact is, Chara made monsters lose their fear of humans after thousands of years.
What kind of child could do that?
What kind of child could give the Underground hope it didn't have for millennia?
When Chara fell into the Underground, monsters still lived in the Ruins.
Monsters were so afraid of humans that they lived on the far side of the cavern from the barrier.
That's why Asriel has a chair and room in the Ruins.
That's why there's concept art of Chara and Asriel playing in the leaves under the tree in the Ruins.
Chara fell in the Ruins while monsters still lived there, too afraid of humans to venture closer to the barrier.
That's why Asriel heard them call for help.
And why one of their flower drawings is in Asriel's room.
Asgore was convinced there was no hope of leaving, since humans would kill them anyway.
...until one human child changed his mind.
There's a missing history book between these two passages:
The reason monsters stopped fearing the other side of the Underground was Chara.
This book is book 4:
The reason Asgore changed his mind about humans being remorseless killers is because of Chara.
During their life, monsters saw Chara as a beacon of hope and a part of the royal family.
Asgore in particular adored Chara and put his hopes into them.
If Chara were violent or mean, the Underground wouldn't have lost their fear of humans.
The Underground saw Chara as a playful, loving, hopeful child.
And to some extent, they were.
Chara wanted things to work out, too.
But I think they suffered some severe imposter syndrome, likely due to their hatred of humanity.
Hatred that would, naturally, include Chara themself.
I think after nearly killing their adoptive father, Chara decided humans were all evil and the only way they could be redeemed...
...was to shatter the barrier at the cost of their own life.
Chara lost hope. But the Dreemurrs still remember the person they were.
Asgore and Toriel remember their glass-filling habit fondly.
Asgore and Toriel take care of Chara's flowers.
And Asriel, who knew them best, and now understands they weren't really the greatest person in the world...
...still spends his last moments as himself at their grave.
He still fills the water in the glass the same way they did.
At the end of Pacifist, he talks to Chara and assures them everyone will be okay.
I think that says a lot about the kind of person Chara was when they were alive.
Chara was not the Underground's demon.
So, I'd be interested in hearing your take on how the headspace skeletons work because your analysis is really good and I'm stumped on them. There's so many of them, do you think they're from cycles that ended in death instead of being "completed" with saving Basil, or can that happen multiple times per cycle, or what? They seem different from what happens when you lose a battle, since in those you become toast. Anyway love your blog and analysis you are the backbone of this fandom
The Unbread Twins are based on Daphne and Bowen. More specifically the bored, exhausted, "dead inside" chanting we see them do while hawking their bread at the family store.
Like every other major boss, (Spaceboy, Sweetheart, etc) the Unbread Twins are an allegory for Sunny himself. They represent the misery and exhaustion that come from the perpetual depression and anxiety he's trapped in. And after their fight they end up leaving just like how Sunny considers leaving the house.
Dream Kel even notes, "Its a big awesome world out there" beckoning the twins to go outside. This is probably an intentional detail given that Kel has been knocking on Sunny's door for months.
Simply put, the Unbread Twins represent the exhausting nature of having to maintain the Headspace Cycle, which they refer to as an "endless circle of bread".
Now these thoughts can be taken literally, as in, these are what Sunny think the real life Daphne and Bowen are feeling, and are using their plight as a symbol for his own situation.
However, there's also a chance they are being literal. As in, they actually have been in Headspace since its "inception" and are serving some sort of function in maintaining the world.
For many people, the symbolism of the Unbread Twins stops here, however, there could be much more going on. And there are some ideas that require some speculation on our part.
Consider what we see them do before the boss fight:
Their job is to produce "bread", a food-like NPCs, and send them out into the world. But its interesting to note that the portal shows a digital image of the NPC it requires, almost implying that it can show other images and they produce other NPCs.
And while this may be off topic, this concept is very reminiscent of another ghost, featured in Luigi's Mansion, Vincent Van Gore.
In that game, every ghost in Luigi's mansion is based on a "portrait" including Vincent himself. However, throughout the mansion we see tons of common ghost enemies, that don't represent any real person. In a shocking twist of world building we discover at the end that all of these ghosts are just paintings made by Vincent. The Unbread Twins might be this games' Vincent Van Gore.
All of this is purely speculation, but throughout Headspace we see a great number of NPCs that don't seen to have any specific real world inspiration. We have to consider the possibility that every smaller NPC was created by the Unbread Twins. That every creature in this world is considered "bread" on some sort of level. Even the main party. The Unbread Twins even address the party as "bread" when they a approach before the battle, thinking they've return for revenge. After all, when a party member is downed in battle they turn into toast, and are revived by "life jam".
So instead he sees bread, even in the overworld.
But this is just what Sunny, as Omori, sees. Every other dream creature sees them as bodies. And eventually they become skeletons and thus become visible again.
Headspace is just a videogame in Sunny's mind, and every game over results in 3 more skeletons added to the pile. We see a ton of them in the gut of Humphrey, the "final battle/boss" of Headspace.
Its stated by the voice after the Humphrey fight, that we see these skeletons all over headspace, and most of them find their way down to Deeper Well and the Abyss.
After Omori wakes up from the game over, he has a new party who have all the memories of the previous reset.
The real question is what do the enemies and bosses know about this. Why isn't there a pile of bones in Spaceboy's room for example? Why doesn't he mention their previous fights with them?
We do see some of these bones in Sweethearts castle, so its implied that they died to Sweetheart in the past. What's most likely is that the enemies, like Sweetheart, have their memories reset after each game over and just clean out the area. In fact its possible that whole enemies themselves get reset from time to time.
Omori's power has its limitations however, and some of the creatures are able to remember things past the resets due to having some sort of "third eye or sixth sense", as stated by Mr. Outback.
So yes, bread and toast are clearly associate with death and bodies in the game, but the real question is why? Why does bread play such a huge role in the mechanics of death?
"I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.” John 6:51
First let's address the obvious:
Yes, the real world inspiration for the bread is the toaster in the treehouse. And yes, downed party members become toast as a joke. A play on the idiom; "toast" as in "your toast now."
Furthermore, I want to stress that I am not a religious expert, nor is this meant to be a Catholic interpretation of the subject. I normally wouldn't bring religion into these explanations, but I get the sense that OMOCAT might have intended for us to consider this.
It is never outright said, but it is heavily implied that that Bowen and Daphne are Catholic, or the Omori universe equivalent, since we see the preacher wears a white collar as well.
Catholics believe in a concept called the "real presence of Jesus in the eucharist" which in laymen's terms means Jesus was being literal about the bread and wine being his flesh. In OMORI we see the same thing, where flesh and bread are interchangeable.
Furthermore, we need to consider the purpose of communion. This is a gross generalization but basically in ancient times you had to sacrifice an animal, an unblemished lamb, for the forgiveness of sin and you had to eat it. In communion, Jesus functions as the lamb and by eating the bread, you absolve yourself of guilt.
The religious symbolism crops up again in the fight with the snow angels, setting a precedent that Sunny has been shown to use religious symbols to appropriate guilt onto himself.

Parallels of Arcane (League of Legends)
Part 2
I love how this parallels are so similar and yet so different.
The first one is the more similar and obvious (same pose, cape flying in the same direction, etc.), just the hood being down, but the second? The second is the one that is making me go crazy.
All of it screams "it's the same but it's different" and I love that! The schyte is on the opposite side, with the blade pointing up instead of down, and even the shot is different, no more frontal but partially from the side!
Ruby is still the same, but she's also changed. She still holds the same goals and believes, but she had a lot of experiences which she learned from. In other words, she grew up.
I am so proud of her.
The Unnamed Marie Angst Comic! I hope you enjoy!
Epilogue (slight blood, but its like, ink, blargh):
Blue butterflies are said to symbolize a person's essence, or soul, either past, present or future and their overall spirit.
The blue butterfly is present wherever Ruby reflects on her past and tries to determine her present/future.

RWBY
As requested, I put all my RWBY gifs in one long post. :) Enjoy!
this is still maybe my fav ruby line in the entire show so far
RWBY in the first god damn minute: "There will be no victory in strength"
RWBY again in music form: "STRENGTH WILL NOT BRING VICTORY!" RWBY in music form yet a-fucking-gain: "STRENGTH'S NOT VICTORY!!!"
Media illiterate weebs for some reason: "well I think Ironwood should have won this fight because he's objectively stronger than team JNPR"
“Well, I guess now’s a better time than any. Velvet!”
Yang: But she was kind of a mean person, right? She lied and cheated her way through most of the book. Weiss: She was trying to survive. The morals of those old stories are so simplistic.
This exchange is interesting, especially because it is not the first time characters interpret Alyx in opposite ways.
Oscar sees her as a child who goes on an adventure, is changed by it and struggles to go home:
Oscar: I thought the idea of falling through Remnant into a new world was exciting. I never understood why she was so sad when she finally made it back home. But now it makes more sense.
Ozpin sees her as a girl, who runs away from her problems in a fantastical dimension:
Ozpin: I was recently reminded of an old fairy tale. A young girl flees the consequences of a choice, to a magical place. But, having never learned from her initial failure, she only succeeds in spreading it.
All of these characters project parts of themselves on Alyx:
Oscar sees her as lost, because he himself feels lost and away from home.
Ozpin describes her as a coward because he himself has run away into Oscar's subconscious.
Yang criticizes Alyx's tendency to lie and cheat because she sees these 2 attributes as the worst of the worst. She is conveniently ignoring she herself has been omitting information about Raven. Not to count that lie, cheat, survive are ideas that apply to Raven specifically. This means there is a part of Yang she herself is not confronting.
Weiss sympathizes with Alyx and refuses the moral of the story as too childish. Which kind of adult would truly believe that lying and cheating to survive is wrong? Except that Weiss's whole arc revolves around her embracing childishness once again and finding the hope and wonder that was stolen from her as a child.
So, everyone sees Alyx as a part of herself, but who is Alyx really?
ALYX - THE CHARACTER
Alyx is no-one, just a shadow:
Just an empty silhouette that can be filled by anyone:
This is what characters are, especially protagonists that are meant to carry a whole story on their shoulders:
Blake: I've read so many stories... I never thought I'll be the moral of one.
Characters are in stories to teach people morals and to convey messages. Basically, they all have purposes:
Blake: Have you ever heard the namy Alyx? Little: Alyx... Is that a purpose?
Maybe this is the real reason why names equals purposes in the Ever After. It is because characters are their purposes in a story... and yet, people are much more. So, what happens when a person ends up making their sense of identity overlap with their purpose?
Little: And is to Ruby Rose your purpose?
They lose themselves. Like it is happening to Ruby and like it has most likely happened to Alyx.
Weiss: What did Jinxy want from Alyx? Blake: Her saddest memories and her happiest.
Jinxy wanted Alyx's saddest and happiest memories. If a person loses both, they lose their past self. They lose who they are. It is probable Alyx chooses to leave the previous "her" behind, but can't forge any new identity, trapped forever to be a character. A protagonist. A fairy tale.
RWBY - THE LEGENDS
Blake: We are doing the same thing Alyx did. We are ruining everything!
Here, Blake is talking about RWBY's predicament in Ever After. She thinks that since they know how the story goes, they should be able to avoid Alyx's mistakes. She is frustrated they can't and overreacts. Why is she so emotional about it?
Because Blake is not talking about the Ever After. She probably means this:
Weiss: Maybe Jaune and Winter were able to get them out. Despite everything. Despite us.
RWBY has seen the adults fail at Beacon, so they strived to be better. They learnt from their mentors' mistakes, grew stronger and chose a different approach. Only to fail in the exact same way.
Blake and Weiss are having opposite reactions to the Ever After, but deep down they are dealing with the same sense of failure.
Blake is filtering it through a fairy tale. They must do everything perfectly here in Ever After, because if they can't, what good are even they?
Weiss is dealing with it by refusing the fairy tale. They messed up so royally in Remnant, that who cares what happens in this bizzarre world, which isn't theirs?
What about Yang and Ruby?
Yang is reacting the same as ever. She is going with the flaw and cracking jokes:
Ren: It's okay to be afraid, you know. You don't always have to hide it with a joke.
Ruby is choosing to push forward:
Ruby: We may not know exactly what's going on, but for whatever reason, this place is putting us on a similar path as a book we all read as kids. I say we follow it and stop pretending we know what we are doing.
She is given the role of Alyx and she is determined to fulfill it. She is stepping once again in the role of a protagonist. And yet, to keep on following an already pre-established script without putting that much mind to it isn't the right answer.
The fairy tale should be a chance for Ruby to face heself: who she was, who she is and who she wants to become.
What if you could leave Ruby Rose behind, shed like an old coat? What might happen, if you don't?
Isn't it interesting that the metaphor of an old coat is used? What is a little red hood if not something similar to a coat? A mantle (similar to that of a superhero for that matter) that Ruby chooses to wear? Who is she outside it? Outside her allusion? Outside her fairy tale?
The same goes for RWBY as a whole. They aren't in training anymore. They are Huntresses and are slowly growing into legends. They saved Haven, protected an ancient Relic, decided the fate of a Kingdom. Ruby is famous worldwide as the young Huntress who is challenging Salem. They are growing into more than just themselves. And yet, this is extremely dangerous, because losing one-self in a bigger tale is rather easy:
Pyrrha: For it is in passing that we achieve immortality. Through this, we become a paragon of virtue and glory to rise above all.
This is why they are in a fairy tale they all know deep down, even if they have forgotten. It is so they can reconnect with whom they are. Metaphorically, they are going back to The Girl Who Fell Through The World, so that they can look at it from a different perspective. What teachings would they learn that they missed as kids? What will they discover?
What's sure is that they won't get anything if they keep refusing it (Weiss), not taking it seriously (Yang), being too worried about doing everything perfectly (Blake), following the script without thinking too much about it (Ruby).
ALYX - THE PERSON
RWBY must find themselves again and it would be interesting if they succeed by finding Alyx, as well.
In general, I think Neo, Jaune and Alyx are all characters the protagonists must "find" if they really want to figure out the world and their current situation. It is easy to see how this may work out for Neo, an enemy mad with grief, and Jaune, a friend traumatized and lonely.
What about Alyx?
It is possible she might stay in the background as a symbol. However, some hints suggest there might be more to it:
Weiss: He's adorable! Blake: And a lot older than I remember from the book
The world they are in isn't exactly the same of the fairy tale. Jinxy is much older and Little isn't in the original fairy tale. This is why they have no idea who Alyx is. How can they? They are too little to remember. They are in the Ever After, but in a future version of it. This ties with the idea they are confronting their childhoods as adults. It might also be there is a reason for it plot-wise.
Everyone seems to have their own idea of what happened to Alyx. Maybe the whole point is that they will have listen to Alyx's own version of the story.
THE GODS - THE WRITERS
These meta-themes are important outside this volume and for the story, as a whole. After all, let's not forget the Gods allude to the Brother Grimms. This means they are symbolically "the writers" of the characters. Through this lens, then, the whole conflict between the God of Light especially and Salem can be summarized as a writer not being able to write a character.
The God of Light wants Salem to learn an important lesson, so he comes up with a punishment and an obstacle for her to grow. This is how usually a writer approaches a character arc. However, Salem refuses to change, as the God of Light wants. She refuses to learn the theme he desires. If anything, the result is the opposite of what the God of Light expects. Why is that so?
Because the God of Light is dumb and not such a great writer on his own :P To write humans well he needs his brother's help. That is because humans are a mix of light and darkness, of selflessness and selfishness, of logic and emotions, of mind and heart. He approaches Salem as if she were to function exactly like him, but she is much more similar to his brother. Emotional and driven by her personal wishes.
So, the Gods are the writers and RWBY and the others are characters in their hands. When is it that a character overcomes their author? When they end up communicating something their author did not see coming. In this way, they surprise the writers and help them grow. This is probably how RWBY is gonna solve its conflict.
The girls will end up embodying a theme and a teaching the Gods and Salem did not account for. In this way, they will defeat them, symbolically.
At the same time, a meta-reading can very well apply to RWBY's most existentialist themes.
Let's consider these 2 lines:
Weiss: We are not in a book and even if we were we know how it ends, right over there.
Cinder: Oh, come now. Even if you know how the story ends, that doesn't make it any less fun to watch.
Even if all lives end in the same way (death), it doesn't mean they are not beautiful and worthy to be lived. Even if you know how the story ends, it doesn't mean you should not live it fully. You should dive deep into it, embrace wonder and go through it to the very end. Skipping pages means you are just giving up on new opportunities to grow and bloom.
Ni pedo, morra, así es ésto.
(Lo siento pero simplemente no hay equivalente de ‘Chale’ o ‘Güer@ vende-quesos’ en inglés y casi toda la idea venía de ese específico punchline.)

Suicide tw
okay i feel like i want to make a definitive ranking of which of the gods are the best, parent-wise. I honestly think Dionysus and Hades should be at the top and obviously Zeus at rock bottom but i need a full list
I am officially obsessing over this. There is so much I want to say on it so this might get a little bit long. I think, firstly, this would become a thing post-titan war. After Percy points out the godly parents suck the gods are, of course, a little indignant and start arguing about it like:
“He wasn’t talking about ME! He clearly meant you-”
“Um. No? I claim my kids-”
“He is Poseidon’s son so he’s talking about Poseidon!”
“I’m sorry, but no? My son thinks I’m awesome?”
And eventually the demigods kind of jokingly come up with a list and the gods get SUPER competitive over it. After realizing this, the demigods offer to make a real list because it kind of would be good to let the gods know how their kids think of them, but they have to be like ‘uhhhh we’re not going to smited over this, right?’ and once they are reassured the list is made. It actually changes a lot because their parents are... you know, working on it, but Zeus’ name is 100% at the bottom of the list always. He tries to be like ‘look, I have one Greek daughter and she isn’t even there-”
Except Thalia 100% visits CHB specifically to make sure his name is at the bottom and eventually when Jason gets to CHB he just kinda looks at the list and is like ‘...fair enough. Btw I know we’re all mad at Hera, but I like her so can we just put her above Zeus?’ so Hera is added onto the list for the sole purpose of being placed over her husband.
Ares is always at the bottom too. Frank tries to make a case for him, but CHB is adamant that Mars might be different, but this is Ares and he sucks so to the bottom he goes. Percy has never forgiven him for how he treated Clarisse (especially in Sea of Monsters), so if she isn’t there then he personally makes sure he remains there. Ares, in turn, has tried to win over his kids bc of this and gets bumped up a few times, but the highest he’s ever gotten is spot #7.
Hades is smug af bc Nico will every so often casually walk over and put his name at the top of the list with absolutely no explanation. He just does it and it’s kind of their thing bc while Hades and Nico don’t actively talk about that stuff they know the other tries really hard so that’s how they show appreciation. Everyone is SO bitter at Hades over it... especially Poseidon lol.
Percy is usually chill with keeping his dad high on the chart, but he’ll also knock him down for petty reasons. Like, Annabeth might comment that she went to the beach and the water was kind of cold and Percy is like ‘whoops, I guess dad gets knocked down two places’ and Poseidon is mad af because ‘I THOUGHT YOUR FATAL FLAW WAS LOYALTY, BUT WHATEVER’ (In truth, Poseidon acts bitter, but knows its not a serious thing for them bc Percy and him have reached the point where they can be a tad more upfront with each other if there's a problem)
Anyways. Before i ramble too much, here are current rankings + some godly commentary :D (I fully suspect everyone has different opinions on this so just remember this isn’t concrete and obviously I messed around with the circumstances a little to make it more fun *cough* sorry, Poseidon):
1. Artemis
Apollo: That’s cheating! She doesn’t even have kids! The huntresses just come and put her name at the top!
Artemis: I can’t help my huntresses think of my as family, brother.
Apollo: You shouldn’t even be counted. Whatever.
2. Hades
Hermes: I think that’s cheating too! His kid lives with him in the Underworld. That isn’t even supposed to be allowed-
Demeter: Did the girl have a say in this? Clearly, this is just the di Angelo boy’s work.
Hades: Is the di Angelo boy not my son? I can’t help that he is fond of me. And Hazel is Roman so her relationship with Pluto doesn’t count-
Zeus: IF ROMANS DON’T COUNT THEN TAKE JASON’S PETTY VOTE FOR HERA OFF OF THE CHART!
3. Dionysus
Aphrodite: He lived with his boys for a long time AND he runs the camp. Hardly fair.
Hermes: Once again, the living situation dictates too much!
Dionysus: Stay mad (:
4. Hermes
Hermes: Really?!?! Yesssss I knew all my visits would pay off!!!
Apollo: ...alright, fine. You worked really hard after Luke. Congrats, Hermes.
Hermes: (: (: (:
Apollo: THE OTHER THREE ARE STILL A SHAM THO!!!!
5. Apollo:
Apollo: YES!! I FINALLY PASSED ATHENA! TAKE THAT, NERD-
Dionysus: I kind of thought you would be higher after your time as a mortal, Apollo...
Apollo: Yeah, Will told me I’ll get bumped up eventually, but it is kind of hard to really keep up the ‘dad-vibe’ when you’re the same age as them and also keep stealing their clothes :/
Hephaestus: Fair enough.
6. Athena:
Athena: Once Annabeth and I are on stable terms then I will rise to the top again. Patience is a virtue with these things-
Poseidon: Or maybe you can remember you have other children.
Athena: I’m sorry, what was that #8?
Poseidon: It is NOT my fault that my child is temperamental-
Hermes: Of course it’s your fault! Where the Hell do you think he gets it from?
7. Hephaestus:
Hermes: Pretty good considering you’re not a big socializer, Hephaestus!
Apollo: Honestly, he might be higher up, but I noticed while at camp that his kids get sidetracked and forget to vote a lot.
Aphrodite: Oh, yeah, totally. My kids are the same way-
Hephaestus: Uh huh, sure.
8. Poseidon
Hades: You’re in number eight? What did you do to piss off your son this time?
Poseidon: Mind your own business, Hades.
Apollo: He didn’t wish Estelle happy birthday.
Poseidon: She isn’t even my child! Why do I have to like her-
9. Aphrodite
Aphrodite: I was higher up last week! What happened?!
Athena: You claimed another child.
Aphrodite: So?
Athena: So that child met Drew Tanaka.
Aphrodite: ...ah.
10. Demeter
Hades: You might get higher if you shut up about Persephone every once in awhile, sister.
Demeter: Shut up, Hades.
11. Ares
Everyone: Yeah, makes sense
Ares: WHAT?!
Aphrodite: Darling, remember when you told your daughter that your sons would do a better job on her quest?
Ares: REMEMBER WHEN HADES TOLD NICO THAT HE PREFERRED HIS DEAD SISTER OVER HIM?!
Hades: Okay, yeah, I messed up there, but have you considered that I gave him a chauffeur?
12. Hera
Hephaestus: I hope you know that’s a token spot, mother.
Hera: As long as I’m above your father, it’s fine.
13. Zeus
Zeus: Apollo... did you put my name at the bottom?
Apollo: Father, it was already there! But I did contribute to making sure it stayed there, yes. You turned me into a mortal, I don’t know what you were expecting.
Artemis: I also put it at the bottom.
Ares: Same.
Hermes: Same.
Athena: Same.
Hephaestus: Same.

I think about the Ashen Wolves DLC a lot…and how Edelgard’s character would’ve felt going back into a place underground that could remind her of past traumas she wants to leave behind. My guess is that she remained strong because she wasn’t alone during that whole endeavor. ;w; Please reblog, do not repost!
Shiki’s incredible. She turns the smallest ideas into complete clothes. She’s skillful, sensitive, and a hard worker. I think she had more talent than me. But I couldn’t find the right way to tell her. I really hurt her. You see, Shiki was worrying that she wasn’t good at designing clothes. So, I tried to downplay it. I said, “You’re not meant to be a designer. You’re a great seamstress, anyway.” I wanted to apologize right away. I was going to say sorry first thing the next morning. But now… I can never see her again. The clothes I design only become real when Shiki makes them for me. So… I can’t do it without Shiki.
