The production of newsies on youtube where racetrack is holdng Jack back from running away in the Sieze the Day fight when Snyder walks up, and Jack says "I can't go back," and race says "no, Jack, I know" and lets him go.
And then when Crutchie is getting beaten up, Jack is on the bridge right above him and again race is holding him back, this time from going to get Crutchie, who sees them and says "Jack, Race, you're RIGHT THERE!" but then they both turn and run.
And then Jack starts Santa Fe by saying "no no no no," like he's waking up from a bad dream.
ETA: here's the link.
“we need more complex female characters!” y’all couldn’t handle Katherine Plumber.
headcanon that albert stomps. he gotta get his emotions out somehow. either that or punching up his friends. he's so me btw
LOOK AT THE PRECIOUS BOY BSHSHHSHSHSHJWJSJSJJSJS I LOVE HIM SO MUCH☹️☹️☹️☹️☹️
I just realized something. In the show I’m doing currently, or rather, just finished as of today (😭), I have a fair amount of lines, but not many, so I’ve been doing some little improv-y bits here and there to add on to my character/the show. And it hit me: Max Casella did the same thing with Racetrack Higgins.
I’m gonna paraphrase this, but once I read a quote from Max Casella talking about his role as Racetrack saying: “Racetrack doesn’t have many lines in the script, so I’v been adding little bits of my own.”
I am slowly but surely on my way to becoming the Max Casella/Racetrack Higgins I want to see in the world.
RAHHHHH IM BACK! sorry again for disappearing 😭😭😭
it's time for me to come clean guys ............ im a ralbert truther ... I don't get the sprace hype ......... why spot .... ralbert is just so much better ..... dumb x dumber ......... but also chaotic x has the chaotic one on a leash ....... but ALSO smart and strategic race and 'ill fight my way through them' Albert ......
so many possibilities .......... fluffy kony moments or angsty Albert gets into another fight or race spends too much time at the races or they fight because race is trying too hard to micromanage Albert and help him out .... ralbert > sprace
Things in my show that impressed the children
1. Swing pitch to standing in shoulders. This makes sense it looks amazing
2. Carrying a mat in on our heads. Why what is impressive about this
3. The trapeze being lowered in from the roof
4. The German man’s jumpy flipyness
5. Little child’s jumpy flipyness, and his unicycle
6. Finn I don’t get this one
7. Weird song about Australia
8. My headsprings
9. Moving props
10. Big metal wheel things
11. Sweeping up juggling balls
12. Spiderman in a top hat and Elton John glasses in a window talking about going vegan
13. Measuring a stage with a hula hoop
See, you have Jack “on the verge of death, but everyone else’s health and safety are more important than mine lol” Kelly and David “I love my friends but I need to stay healthy too because I deserve it” Jacobs and they are in love if you even care.
here is your daily reminder that Racetrack Higgins is on no accounts stupid.
It's a pretty common thing to see Race as the dumbass of the group, comedic relief or generally not taken seriously. Don't get me wrong- Race is a hot mess. But he's a smart hot mess.
You think Jack was leading the strategy of Manhattan? I love Jack but you saw him organising and strategising the strike -he was struggling. Yet Manhattan is still one of the more powerful cities, how? Race.
Race who figured out how to manipulate his way into Spot Colon's good graces so he could worm his way into a selling spot at the sheepshead races -guaranteed foot traffic, plus idiots who are either winning money or think they will. They can and will spare a penny for a paper. That is a good spot. One of the better ones in the city.
And you think Race is unaware of that? NO. He did that entirely on purpose. He knows Brooklyn's economy is doing a little better than Manhattans, he knows the factors of a good spot and he knows the angles he can offer.
Race is often known for winning every game thrown at him, you think he can do that without strategy? People who don't characterise him as smart are blatantly mischaracterising him.
Race wants to be known as dumb. He wants to be underestimated. It gives him infinitely better odds. Nobody pays attention to the 'dumb twink with no common sense' they turn their heads towards heavy hitters like Spot. He plays it up, he knows damn well what he's doing but he does it anyways.
Usually it's fun and he gets a kick out of the adrenaline. But the best part is people dismiss him. And Race is always playing the long game.
So anyways this has been your PSA that Racetrack Higgins is in fact smart and incredibly strategic.
POSSESSIVE DAVEY PLEASSEEEEEE I LOVE HIM HES MY BOY
teehee! this is an outtake from a wip that I haven't finished lollllllll ....... hope u like!
The night progressed nicely, Albert and Davey eventually hitting it off after a few drinks, Jack and Race only getting louder as they ordered more cocktails.
Davey was distracted from his conversation by a shadow being cast across their table. He looked up and saw a frankly quite unattractive woman making small talk with Jack.
Davey's Jack, to be precise.
Without thinking, he put his left hand on Jack's thigh, sliding it up until it was clearly visible to this woman, brandishing a champagne glass at Jack. Jack glanced quickly to Davey, with the look on his face that Davey knew meant he was flustered. The woman kept talking.
It could have been the amount of drinks Davey had downed, but he moved his hand from Jack's thigh to his waist, pulling Jack closer to him and boring his eyes into this chick's face. He rubbed circles into Jack's waist, and out of his slightly drunken haze he heard the woman say 'I suppose you wanna come back to my place?' with a wink.
What an oblivious bitch.
Davey took one last swig of the beer he had been nursing before situating his other hand on Jack's other hip and pulling the man firmly into his lap. He locked his arms around Jack's torso and put his chin on his shoulder, so he was half-facing the woman.
'Sorry,' he said flatly. 'This is my boyfriend. He's not going anywhere tonight except for my apartment.'
'Oh..' the woman giggled, flashing a bitchy smile at Davey before turning back to address Jack. 'He's drunk, right? You're not dating?'
Albert stood up, rolling up a sleeve. 'You're gonna have to get out of here.'
The woman giggled again, closed lipped and codescending. 'Yeah, sure. Right after I get Jack here's number.'
Jack finally said, in a quiet, pressed voice, 'Fuck off, Hazel.' Race stood up too, and began to exit the booth. 'You heard Jack.' He raised one fist. 'Fuck off.'
'Jesus! Fine!' Hazel threw her hands up and stalked off. Davey deposited Jack where he had been sitting, releasing an incredibly tight grip he didn't realise he had been holding.
'Jack, what the fuck was that?' Race questioned, returning to his seat. 'Who's she?'
'It doesn't matter.' Jack muttered quietly. 'Davey, let's head home soon.'
Davey immediately stood up, a little wobbly on his feet. 'Let's go right now. It was great to meet you two,' he turned to address Race and Albert, 'but me and Jack are gonna leave now. I've probably had one too many drinks anyway.'
Jack starts reading bc he knows davey loves to read btw. jack reads poetry so he can understand the way davey's mind works. he spends hours trying to make himself feel like he's worthy of davey's love. like he's enough for Davey to love, not just a husk of a man who lost his hope long ago. after the strike, and after jack finally settles down and starts living in a small flat in lower manhattan, he feels empty. without any reason to keep going except his job as a waiter, he spends a lot of time thinking. thinking about how he might never see Davey again, and that everything that happened between them was incidental to him, not like how it changed jack permanently.
what if he meant nothing to Davey? what if Davey truly forgot about jack? what if Davey never really cared???
RAHHHHH SORRY FOR DISAPPEARING!!!!!! I WENT CAMPING!!!!!!!!

ohhhhgggKAY y'all
I have some personal albert hc's based on a character workshop today (very based off of other peoples Albert hc's)
- he has a mother and two younger sisters, his dad either walked out or died
- his mother is either sick or drunk so it's mostly up to him to provide for his family.
- his closest/only friends are the New York newsies. he's very apprehensive of katherine at first.
- he wears his newsie hat backwards (though we knew this)
- he's super hyper masc and stoic and cold to hide his insecurities about his feminine traits- he wants to go to culinary school and become a chef, and is also grappling with his sexuality and a crush on jack/race
- the abscencr of his father also played a hand in his demeanour and insecurities, he never really had a male role model to show him how to act.
- he has anger/emotional processing issues becuase if his mental health, sexuality and absent father. it's very rare to see him smile, and the only times he really does in the show is during numbers like kony.
- during his rare downtime while he's not selling papes or caring for his mum and sisters he likes to visit this one diner downtown. sometimes they give him food for free or just let him watch the process in the kitchen. they don't let him help because they'd have to pay him and also hes too dirty but it's his comfort place. he would never tell the other newsies. the line cook there is a gay guy and he and Albert talk a lot about everything that albert would never open up to anyone else about.
anyway yah! that's my albert! my silly guy!

“So, uh,” Jack starts hesitantly, turning to Jacobs. “I’m real sorry ‘bout all that.”
“Uh huh,” Jacobs says, looking supremely unimpressed. “Sure.”
“No, honest,” Jack insists. “It was about time someone knocked that smug look of his face. Do you, uh,” he shifts his weight from one foot to the other, not sure what to do with himself. “Do you want some ice for your hand? That was a mean left hook—“
“I am just fine,” Jacobs interrupts, his tone biting. “So feel free to spare me the All-American, Boy Scout routine. If you really want to help—” the look on his face makes his opinion on the quality of Jack’s help perfectly clear, “—then you can make sure assholes like Oscar DeLancey stay the hell away from my squad. And if he comes within spitting distance of one of my girls again, I’ll have his dick in a vice.”
A razor sharp smile. “So glad we had this talk.”
And with that, he marches away.
“Oh, fuck me,” Jack murmurs to himself, utterly enraptured as he watches him go. He’s real pretty and he’s real mean: Jack’s heart is already doing loop-de-loops around his chest. “‘M so fucked.”
