In which Irene does not develop feelings for Sherlock, but is instead guilty of a more heinous crime than we realized.
The sequel, of sorts, to this.
In which Irene does not develop feelings for Sherlock, but is instead a good role model for cancer prevention.
26 March 2020: It’s happening, kids: National Theatre: At Home is coming
Released weekly on YouTube here
Every Thursday, the NT will be releasing a play from their NTLive archive to watch for free, for everyone, for 7 days.
First up is:
One Man, Two Guvnors (2nd April)
Jane Eyre (9th April)
Treasure Island (16th April)
Twelfth Night (23rd April)
Further productions to be announced.
This fan trailer is based on popular theory that last episode of Sherlock (The Final Problem) was actually John’s hallucination after Eurus shot him in a face. I would give everything to see this version of TFP for real :D That would at least make some sense.
A sincere request from someone who has spent her entire adult life wishing people had kept better records…
In the coming weeks and months… RECORD WHAT IS HAPPENING.
Start a journal, take photos, keep a video diary, make a daily blog post, jot a few notes down in a day planner, whatever!
It is not very often that you can be certain that you’re living in a time that historians will study in detail.
The nightly news can tell us the facts, twitter can tell us the larger cultural trends, but no one can keep an accurate record of your daily life and honest thoughts during this crisis but you.
Are you scared to death? Write it down.
Are you still thinking this is being blown out of proportion? Write it down.
Are you still being forced to work and are pissed as hell about it? Write it down.
Did you see someone do something kind that made you smile? Write it down.
Is your grocery store completely out of toilet paper? Take a picture.
Is your normally bustling neighborhood eerily empty? Take a video.
Did you see a really funny plague joke on twitter? Write it down so you/your grandkids and/or future historians can have a laugh.
I have never successfully kept a journal in my entire life, but I’ve been keeping one since the 10th. Nothing fancy. Just a summary of my day in quarantine, what my family’s up to, today’s news and my current thoughts.
Even if it’s only for you to look back on this time honestly, without the bias of hindsight, you won’t regret doing it.
Future historians will thank you.
Down with this Ship by FrostedFlame (PinkOrchid), 10 k, mature. Sherlock takes John dancing at a gay bar … for a case, supposedly. He expects John to be embarrassed by the outing, but Sherlock has never been so wrong about something. Bi-John in full club gear is a sight to behold!
Ridiculous by professorfangirl (lizeckhart), 6 k,explicit. A bit of plot, but mostly sex. John looks ridiculous in the outfit Sherlock makes him wear undercover to the gay bar, but remains so competent, ever the coiled and waiting warrior. Hot and then sweet sex when they get home and John throws him up against the wall. A little bit of red pants. ;) Good character study of both of them. (Locked to AO3 users.)
Strictly Business by milverton, 14 k, explicit. Classic cute Johnlock. John and Sherlock enter into a “sex only with no strings” relationship, but of course, those pesky feelings do follow. Love it. Bonus birthday lunch with Harry and friends, and a trip to a gay bar. Yum.
Time on my hands by Mildredandbobbin, 7 k words. Sherlock decides to experiment with his sexuality, and discovers gay bars. When John finally moves back into 221b, and discovers that Sherlock is picking up men for sex, he can’t not offer to be one of them. Lovely, and lyrical, this work has the feel of an inevitable pull of fate. So beautifully told from Sherlock’s point of view. (Locked to AO3 members.)
Yours by lookupkate, explicit, 3 k. John and Sherlock go to a gay club for a case. John gets hit on and Sherlock gets jealous. Gay sex ensues. Hot Toplock.
Dancing Home by May_Shepard, 6 k, explicit. John Watson loves to dance. He’s always loved it, even if he’s never said so. This is a fantastic look at John’s stealth lovelife with men, all the times he danced with someone special he could never acknowledge, crashing together in his mind as he dances with Sherlock at that gay bar on his Stag Night. Thumbs up – just incredible!
The Only Hope for Me is You by alexabarton, 11 k, explicit. It’s the last weekend before school starts and Sherlock Holmes is out on the pull. John Watson is starting a new job and a brand new life after the break down of his marriage. It’s only meant to be a one-night stand until it all turns a little bit complicated. Teenlock. John is much older than Sherlock.
The Gay Bar Scene that never was by MadSophHatter, 1 k, teen. The gay bar scene from The Sign of Three as I envisioned it. Featuring a confused Sherlock, halfnaked men, sexy dancing and John who is absolutely not jealous.
We’re Going To A Gay Bar by CommunionNimrod, 8 k explicit. Without a case, Sherlock is being driven out of his mind with boredom. He is also being driven out of his mind with his desire for his flat mate and best friend, John Watson. Since he can have neither, he needs to find another way to silence his mind and occupy himself that doesn’t end in turning back to drugs. The night takes them to a nearby gay bar.
For a Case by ckerased, 2k, teen. Sherlock convinces John to come to a gay club with him to get information for a murder case. When Sherlock begins getting a bit too friendly with one possible witness, John intervenes.
With Me By Your Side Always by janescott, 2 k, mature. John and Sherlock go to a gay club for a case. Everyone starts hitting on John, but he thinks they’re just trying to get to Sherlock through him. Meanwhile, Sherlock is fuming.
Whisper Game by astudyinrose, 11 k, explicit. John is on his stag night at a gay club a few weeks before he ships out to Afghanistan…when he meets Sherlock Holmes.
Inertia Creeps by chucksauce, 3 k, explicit. John should’ve known something was up when he came home one evening to Sherlock pacing before the windows only to pivot on one heel and pin him with a stare. That didn’t mean, however, that he was prepared to show off his thespian chops by pretending to be Sherlock’s boyfriend in the middle of a gay bar for the sake of a case.
By the Pale Moonlight by alexxphoenix42, 5 k, explicit. Sherlock notices that once a month, John gets tarted up, slips off to parts unknown, and stays gone till the next morning with nary an explanation. Sherlock can’t resist a mystery of any stripe, but certainly not one that involves JOHN.
Denial by A_Candle_For_Sherlock, 4 k, gen. “Imagine john and sherlock going to a gay bar for a case and the bartender/manager recognizes sherlock and is all like, ‘Sherlock!! I haven’t seen you in years! How are you? Is this your boyfriend?‘” Or, what happens when denial finally gets too hard to maintain.

To the tune of “Modern Major General”
I am the very model of effective social distancing!
I listen to the experts on the topic of resistance-ing;
I know that brunch and yoga class aren’t nearly as imperative
As doing what I can to change the nation’s viral narrative.
I’m very well acquainted, too, with living solitarily
And confident that everyone can do it temporarily:
Go take a walk, or ride a bike, or dig into an unread book;
Avoid the bars and restaurants and carry out, or learn to cook.
There’s lots of stuff to watch online while keeping safe from sinus ills
(In this case, it’s far better to enjoy your Netflix MINUS chills)!
Adopt a pet, compose a ballad, write some earnest doggerel,
And help demolish Trump before our next event inaugural.
Pandemics are alarming, but they aren’t insurmountable
If everybody pitches in to hold ourselves accountable.
In short, please do your part to practice prudent co-existence-ing,
And be the very model of effective social distancing!
Hey! I’m going to start a little thing, if you’ll join me! It’s very much like a thing I did a couple of summers ago, the Summer Saturday Self-Reblog thing. It’s not summer and it doesn’t have to be Saturday - just re-post an old fic of yours. Lots of people may not have read it, and lots of people may be in the market to read something new. Make a fun header for your post. Or not! As you like. :) I’ll be back in a few with my first one. :)
Cheers! You can do it! Yes!
I asked my OR team today if they’re mentally prepared to turn into pandemic ICU/ITU staff. The answer was, without batting an eyelid and with a smile: ”yes of course, we know we can do what needs to be done”.
I work with badasses.
With these professionals working together with us anaesthetists, I can believe we can do this and stretch ourselves and our resources as much as possible. Bring it on.
With all of the COVID-19 news and panic going on, the U.S. Government has been sneakily trying to pass the so called EARN IT Bill which would remove end-to-end encryption on messages and calls, and allow a scanning software to read all of them. Websites that don’t comply will lose protections. This would require any message you send with a US based service to have the messages scanned by the US govt, and punishes any company that keeps your messages private.

Lock Down Fest is a non-anon, self-posting, multi-ship and multi-fandom mini fest that is designed to bring comfort to everyone staying indoors under quarantine restrictions at the moment and to all of us experiencing fear because of the pandemic. Anxiety levels are high and the news is distressing, so we want to invite everyone to use this time to be creative and spread joy. LDF will run from 20-30 March; announcements will be made here.
We want everyone to be encouraged to participate and to follow the fest, but we also appreciate that reading about the virus can be upsetting for many people. For that reason, we’ve decided on a twofold theme:
a. Getting Stuck In/Isolated Together (which doesn’t need to involve the virus in any way whatsoever)
b. Quarantine-inspired, if it occurs during the current pandemic. Works MUST be tagged with the tag: “Covid-19 Related” on AO3.
All kinds of fanworks are welcome with no minimum or maximum wordcount for fics. There is no claiming time nor the need to sign up. Simply, 1. visit the collection on AO3 and post your work when it opens, then 2. email: quarantinefest [at] gmail [.] com with a link to your fanwork.
If you don’t wish to write or draw, you can always contribute by offering beta services. Feel free to DM one of the mods and we’ll post a list with those volunteering to beta in the next couple of days. We’d appreciate it if all fics are beta-read.
Most importantly, please ensure you tag your work as “Covid-19 related” on AO3 if it takes place during the current pandemic, so as to give the chance to readers to exclude the tag, if they wish. Be mindful of your tags: if they deal with a pandemic anyway (historical or fictional), do tag and warn accordingly. If your work doesn’t comply with this requirement and we can’t get hold of you via the email provided, your work might be removed from the collection.
Lock Down Fest is open to everyone over 18 years old.
Your mods,
