36 years later, we put the late dictator's son, a fraud, a liar, a tax evader, back in office. we give him the legacy his father desired. we made our own monsters because 30 million people chose this fate. and god, they weren't lying when they said it's so fucking hard not to hate being a filipino. it's so fucking hard not to despise your country, knowing the absolute fuckery they let themselves become.

we’re not fucked. our parents lived through marcos’ dictatorship, we were able to perserve despite duterte’s administration. if the son of the former dictator were to truly take the seat as president, then we’re definitely not gonna be taking that news without a fight. filipinos are terrifyingly resilient considering the history of our own country. yes we struggle a lot, but in the same vein, we are able to get back up again despite all the calamities and disasters we have been through. we literally deal with 20 cyclones every year, and yet we still manage to stand, still manage to persevere through it all.

this is new incoming storm—in the form of a potentially reawakening dictatorship—may be powerful, but it certainly isn’t something we can’t overcome. the fact that we’re still here is proof of that, the fact that we’re still alive shows the incredible resilience of our filipino people.

do not lose hope for our country, do not lose faith in each other, and do not lose hope in our people. we’ll get through this like we always do.

WHAT IS HAPPENING IN THE PHILIPPINES.

my apolgies for using this account for such matters but as to what some accounts used to see in my blog, i've stated somewhere that i am a part of a student council from a state college in my country the Philippines hence why i made this poorly drafted post in a hurry.

currently, as the 2022 election ended, atrocities and electoral anomalies were found during the vote counting process and statisticians had shown their data that had shown these anomalies (refer to this link) the normal distribution of votes as shown on their data is an indication how the vote counting process depicts a rigged tally since the population/demographics in the Philippines are unevenly distributed (we are an archipelagic country consisting of 17 regions with some congested areas such as areas in metro manila)

adding to this, as a history major myself, i am baffled with the amount of historical revisionism and distortion rampantly happening and we, as students of history and historians ourselves, are ridiculed and ignored despite countless efforts of presenting narratives, books, documentaries and photos that shows what majority dub as the "golden era" of the Philippines—this is the tyranny of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos Sr. the 14-year rule of this dictator had thousands of filipinos killed, many are still unfound, human rights violation happened left and right, millions of debt were placed under our names, the democracy of the press and students actively participating in protests of this regime were illegally arrested against their own means and were tortured. once the filipinos had kicked this tyrant out of his seat during the EDSA PEOPLE POWER but the 2022 election had let the son's dictator be put into seat as the philippine president.

this marked yet another year of our lives fighting for a just and transparent governance. the philippines is at it's peril. we have already made it into international headlines with the name of that dictator staining our identities.

this is not an issue of our moral integrity being bought by money in order to cope with the rampant poverty but this lies deeper with the miseducation of the people. the education system that we have are flawed, made to glorify the dictators and the corrupts. those who shares thw teuth and fights for our rights were killed, red-tagged, shunned off by textbooks and marked as terrorists.

please, spread the truth about our country and give comfort to any filipino mutual that you have. please spread awareness as to what is happening in our country because as much as my words pass by your timeline and reaches its end, a simple share can help those unaware of our situation. i can't stand not doing anything for my country, not everyone i know of are privileged enough to flourish after we suffer the consequences dictated by our distorted past.

please, comfort any filipino mutual that you have. by being emotiional about this, i have been out in the streets mobilizing and organizing campaigns to fight for a clean election and have been receiving dead threats here and there. it is fear inducing, yes, but what lies ahead of me if i stay quiet is a life without a future in a country i love so much.

I hate the double standards

When trump won the american elections, people offered support. 'hey americans, you can move here if you want'. Everyone always made sure to specify that it was trump supporters/republicans/conservatives/the right wing/capitalism that wanted reggressive shit.

But here, no one specifies that it's the marcos supporters or the institutions or the political dynasties that helped brought fascism back. It's filipinos. 'you chose this' they'd say. 'i want nothing to do with filipinos and the philippines' they'd say. 'we thought you guys knew better' they'd say.

It makes me angry and bitter. People are starting to treat us like dangerous fascists, as if they're the ones who's gonna be affected by what's happening in our country.

It shows their ignorance. A simple google search can tell you that our institutions are corrupt as fuck and has a long and ongoing history of playing the people, and redtagging those who speak up.

And the election campaign itself? Marcos asked cambridge analytica to 'rebrand' his family's image back in 2020.

The appointed elections commissioner is the guy that served as marcos' lawyer during the election protest launched against leni robredo back in the 2016 vice presidency!

Marcos claimed to be an oxford graduate but oxford says he didn't even finish his degree.

He's a convicted tax evader back in 1995. That alone should've disqualified him. But because he didn't get prison time (because the conviction was downgraded to 'failure to file tax returns' in 1997), he still went through.

There was so much disinformation. So much bribery. And even on the election day, shit happened with machines malfunctioning and ballots were unsecure.

We do not choose fascism. Our shitty institutions run by political dynasties are pushing it onto us through lies and force.

i’ll share this one last tidbit because i’m scared to get hunted down by the government, but i trust tumblr anyway- but there already have been rumors of people getting redtagged in the philippines for being vocal about this elections

what’s redtagging? wikipedia describes it as “the malicious blacklisting of individuals or organizations critical or not fully supportive of the actions of a sitting government administration in the country.” redtagging is used to mark down names of activists or, honestly, anyone opposing the government’s beliefs for potential arrests, or in worst case scenarios, extrajudicial killings. 

this has been happening in the philippines for a long time, but it’s only recently reemerged during the reign of duterte. while i can’t compile all redtagging cases, here’s an example thread i made last year that highlighted some cases from april-may. it can give you the gist of how it works. and with the suppression of press freedom (google maria ressa, ceo of rappler, a filipino news site, who got arrested. she was eventually awarded the nobel peace prize for speaking out), there are many redtagging cases that are not spoken about. a friend from a certain university has talked to me about many of their classmates immediately being targeted. many filipinos are in danger

and i’m already hearing that the gov is trying to redtag more people who are just VOCAL about this elections. i was not even gonna post this because i was scared something’ll happen, but i think people deserve to know what’s going on before i stop posting about stuff completely.

freedom of speech is a privilege in the philippines. now that sara duterte, daughter of the current president, is going to head the department of education, it’s important to continue uplifting, supporting, and sharing news and posts by filipinos. bbm is a son of a dictator tyrant who murdered and tortured tens of thousands, and they will revise our history books despite years of fighting against them.

again, we are risking our lives trying to post about this, so if you see any post about the elections, it’s important to stay informed. it’s important to get mad at our government on our behalf because at some point, we won’t be able to. here’s some good posts i’ve found that summarize the elections/the marcos family’s wrongdoings pretty well (1 | 2 | 3 | 4 | 5). and if you have the audacity to go “why the hell are filipinos so stupid to vote for this man?” please read this.

and when marcos gets fully instated, i want you to cause a ruckus, a riot. we can’t let another marcos and duterte ruin our country once again.

Let them talk about Leni Robredo and her work as a lawyer representing marginalized individuals and as the Vice President of the country, about Kiko Pangilinan and his advocacy in improving the agricultural sector of the country, about Chel Diokno and how he and his father Ka Pepe Diokno have made contributions in human rights and pro-Filipino economic legislation over the years, about Risa Hontiveros and how she has constantly been advocating for Filipinos' quality of life and even authored the Mental Health Act, the Safe Spaces Act, and the Raising of the Age of Sexual Consent Act, about the other members of Robredo’s senatorial slate and other candidates who chose to run for a position in the government FOR THE PEOPLE.

Let them talk about how voting for Robredo and the others is not about bringing these people into power per se, but about the good governance they represent.

Let them talk about the Filipino people—not as the brainless sheep who deliberately chose to be ignorant, but as victims of a long-running and deeply-ingrained campaign that takes advantage of their ignorance and does everything to keep them ignorant.

Let the whole world know what is going on in the Philippines. We need them to watch us. We need them to listen to us.

We aren’t an isolated case. Like many others have already said, disinformation can happen to anyone, regardless of the country you are from. So read, watch, and listen.

Because your home can be next.

So you may or may not know the current state of Philippine politics. There’s a very strong possibility that the son of one the most heinous and bloody dictators we’ve had in history is going to be president. Couple that with the VP-elect being the daughter of our current Human Rights violating President. We are not in the best state of things. As a Filipino I fear for my own stability and safety in the next 6 years alongside many others. We are fighting for our fragile democracy to not fall into the hands of yet another Marcos Regime. As of now there are peaceful protests and calls for our commission on elections to investigate all electoral anomalies.

Now over the past few days. Filipino artists are experiencing a significant withdrawal of clients simply based on the fact they are Filipino. With the main reason being the results of our elections and our president-elect. 

Needless to say this is discrimination over something that’s quite unfair. These are artists who work to help support their own livelihoods and these discriminatory pricks are being heartless. To put it in the most civil of terms, we filipinos, who are non-supporters, of the new political regime are being discriminated against for our nationality. We are not our president-elect.

As we all know commissions can be crucial to artists’ survival so please if you are capable please commission some of our amazing artists. Even if you can’t commission, we all know about the power of online advocacy. Spread the word and if able, encourage others to support filipino artists. geto supposes this is a bit odd—he doesn’t usually race to apartments and knock on doors incessantly at three am, he doesn’t usually show up in a wrinkled t-shirt and mismatched socks, and he doesn’t usually have his hair in a low bun that’s threatening to fall out any second.

but then again, he’s not usually staying up late at night and thinking about how the dude you called cute in your philosophy class is planning to ask you out tomorrow.

“suguru, what are you—”

“i love you,” he interrupts, a rushed and panted out statement, making your eyes widen. you stare at him, blinking as the light from the hallway stings your sleep hazed eyes.

“what are you—”

“i really fucking love you, and i think you should date me.”

and he does. geto suguru has been in love with you since the day you move next door to his childhood home. he’s been in love with you since the day you step foot on his lawn and tell him he needs a haircut. he’s been in love with you since the moment you worm your way into his life and bring your unwarranted opinions and know-it-all attitude, and he thinks that he’s the only one who deserves to love you at all.

the guy from philosophy (whatever his name is) doesn’t deserve your playful banter and witty remarks. he doesn’t deserve your random fun facts and ceaseless rambles. he doesn’t deserve your late night texts and whispered facetimes, and he doesn’t deserve you. not like geto does, at least, and geto suguru is not letting a mere schoolgirl crush come in the way of his carefully nurtured love.

“suguru, it’s three am,” you say in disbelief, rubbing the sleep from out of your eyes as you decide to acknowledge his (rather bold) statement after your brain starts functioning.

“that’s okay. i still love you at three am,” he shrugs, pouting to himself. he eyes your appearance, tries not to stare too hard at the way your shirt is a little low at the neckline, tries to avoid glancing at the plumpness of your lips for too long as you process his words with a soft frown.

“oh, really? you should know i’m rather grouchy when i’m sleepy,” you warn him, and then he cracks a smile—because that’s all he needs to hear to know you feel the same.

and he supposes it’s not hard to figure out that you do. it’s not hard to see that there’s love in the way you flick his forehead and tell him to piss off, or the way you curse him out as he steals your food with a scowl, or even the way you promptly leave him on read after every petty argument you have over text.

because there’s fondness in the way you fight back a smile as you roll your eyes, and there’s fondness in the way you slightly push your plate closer begrudgingly, and there’s fondness in the way you text him first the next day and ask if he’s ready to admit he’s wrong because you miss him.

and it’s an odd mix, the two of you, but your sun soaked fingertips against his moonlit skin feels as right as the sound of his name dancing off your lips, and he thinks you were made for him in every regard. so if he has to stand before you at three am and risk your wrath for waking you up, then he’ll gladly do that—so long as no asshole from philosophy is scoring a date with you tomorrow after class.

“yeah, i know,” he snorts, “you’re kind of grouchy all the time,” he adds, hand outstretched and carefully pressing against the curve of your cheek. you lean into his palm, let the roughness of his skin soothe over the longing in your heart.

“and you still want to date me?” you raise a brow.

“of course,” he says instantly, “so say you want to date me too. or i’ll resort to plan b.”

“what’s plan b?”

“killing the dude from philosophy that wants to ask you out,” he hums, “and everyone else that follows until i’m the only choice left.”

“i guess i have to say yes to avoid a lot of bloodshed then, don’t i?” you ask playfully.

but then your fingers smooth back loose strands of dark hair behind his ear, and your hand rests behind his head and pulls him closer—and he thinks maybe you’d have been inclined to say yes either way.

“oh definitely,” he grins, youth brimming over his features as your lips brush over his and seal the deal. and geto suguru has been in love with you since the day you move in next to his home, and he thinks he’ll love you just as much the day you move in next to his spot in bed too, arms circling around his waist and lips mapping his skin.

“in that case, lucky for them, i love you too.”

this is painfully cheesy but i want a soft childhood friends to lovers / boy next door trope with suguru so bad SOBS

"OH COME ON!"

an irritated growl rumbles in bakugou's throat as the screech reaches his ears, much too tired to have to deal with someone screaming at ten in the morning. he swiftly turns around and glares threateningly at the culprit as he begins to slowly pull his shirt off, and is met with an equally frustrated and flustered mineta who points at his face with a crooked finger.

" 'the hell are you screamin' for?" he seethes as he finally tears his undershirt off his arms and throws it into the locker behind him. the night before already drained everything out of him, he didn't have the patience nor the energy to deal with this bullshit.

"how is it that bakugou of all people gets laid before i do!" the idiot seems to be talking to kaminari right beside him, and for a moment bakugou ponders what the hell he's talking about, but once the sting of the cold locker room air drags itself against the red scratch marks littering the upper muscles of his shoulders, he realizes just what he's screaming about.

he then also realizes that maybe dressing in the bathroom would have been a better idea. still, he rolls his eyes and begins to pull out his gym uniform, choosing to ignore the now plenty surprised gazes of everyone else in the locker room.

"man, didn't see you as the type to fuck before marriage," kaminari snickers, walking towards him from his spot on the bench to get a closer look, "jesus dude, these are deep! the hell did you do to her that she had to scratch at you like an animal?"

"shut your fuckin' mouth." bakugou growls, snapping his head to look back at his curious classmate with a seering -near murderous- glare that takes kaminari aback, yelping.

kirishima, sensing the growing tension, steps in between the two blondes and pats his friend on the shoulder.

"relax dude, he's just playing around! now, y'gonna tell us who the lucky lady is?"

"more like unlucky," grumbles mineta.

another red glare is sent towards the direction of the perpetrator, and bakugou's just about to blowing him halfway across the locker room when a glimpse of his scratches in the mirror sends him hurling into memories of last night; your kiss swollen lips against his, the choked whimpers you let out in attempt to keep quiet, and the oh so euphoric feeling of your nails dragging against his upper back as your hips clashed together unceremoniously.

it's enough to calm him back down, and as he finishes pulling on the top of his uniform, he shrugs kirishima's hand off his shoulder with a, "none of your damn business," and slumps away.

he avoids any other conversation or curious gawks by looking at the floor as he drags his way into the training field, and he can't help but smirk slyly to himself at the thought of the other girls squealing in delight at the sight of your chest covered in bites and red blooming bruises, or the damn near tattooed imprint of his palms on your hips.

as he reaches the field, he attempts to wipe said grin off his face with his sleeve, but ultimately fails as he meets your flustered gaze and your pink haired best friend's dropped jaw in realization as to who left you looking like that.

he tilts his chin up in greeting to you and your face heats up in response at the way mina screams once it hits her, and he thinks that maybe..

maybe this was a good start to his morning.
