Overview of some topics when it comes to drawing characters who are burn survivors.
DISCLAIMER. Please keep in mind that this is an introductory overview for drawing some burn scars and has a lot of generalizations in it, so not every “X is Z” statement will be true for Actual People. I'm calling this introductory because I hope to get people to actually do their own research before drawing disabled & visibly different characters rather than just making stuff up. Think of it as a starting point and take it with a grain of salt (especially if you have a very different art style from mine).
Talking about research and learning... don't make your burn survivor characters evil. Burn survivors are normal people and don't deserve to be constantly portrayed in such a way.
edit: apparently tum "queerest place on the internet" blr hates disabled people so much that this post got automatically filtered. cool!

“X bodily fluid is just filtered blood!” buddy I hate to break it to you but ALL of the fluids in your body are filtered blood. Your circulatory system is how water gets around your body. It all comes out of the blood (or lymph, which is just filtered blood).
Bruce: So, Damian. I here you've been training Lawton's daughter. I can imagine that working with a young protege can be difficult. I'm proud of you for putting in the effort.
Damian: It's actually not that hard. Zoe has been a very agreeable and cooperative student.
Bruce: Right.... But I'm sure it gets frustrating when she doesn't follow your orders.
Damian: She always follows my orders. I've found communication to be the key.
Bruce: I mean... Kids will be kids. I'm sure she's run off and done something stupid at some point...
Damian: Nope. Never.
Bruce: But-
Zoe: Hey, Damian! I'm ready to go on that mission.
Damian: Oh, you aren't going.
Zoe: What? Why?
Damian: Because you're not ready. You still have much more training to do before you go on a mission like this.
Bruce: *smirks smugly as he wait's for the argument to begin*
Damian: Also, I am emotionally compromised. I care for you deeply and am not ready to see you in the field yet. I would likely spend the whole mission worrying about your safety. I will attempt to work on this, because I do not wish to hold you back, but in the mean time I would appreciate if you stayed here where you're safe.
Zoe: Okay. I understand.... I love you too.
Damian: Thank you. I appreciate you being patient with me.
Zoe/Damian: *share a emotionally meaningful hug*
Bruce: ....
Bruce: What?
Damian: See? Communication. It's really not that hard.
Dick [tears in his eyes]: I taught him to do that.
