being a man or being masculine is inherently neutral

being a woman or being feminine is inherently neutral

dont play into any narrative that frames men/masculinity as inherently bad and women/femininity as inherently good, this is radfem rhetoric

I really wish I could talk transfeminism to people in real life but I start saying stuff like "Men oppress women" really is too simplistic, and wrong. and, The patriarchy oppresses both men and women, and Cis men are rewarded for upholding It via misogyny, but Individual men aren't the patriarchy. people start looking at me funny

People who deny the existence of transandrophobia tend to focus on 2 types of trans men:

Pre-transition or very early-transition men, who are often closeted/treated as women by society.

And post-transition men, who are stereotyped as passing perfectly and having all of the privileges and power of cis men.

They use the post-transition man as an example of the supposed “systematic power” they believe ALL trans men hold, claiming he directly oppresses him and benefits from the patriarchy. They ignore the fact that in order to maintain any semblance of this he must be closeted and hide the fact that he is trans at all times. They ignore that he will still inevitably face medical discrimination, as the medical field is notorious for treating transmasc individuals poorly. Because this man is indistinguishable from a cis man in their eyes, it becomes morally acceptable for them to hate him.

And they use the pre-transition trans man as a punching bag. They stereotype him as a “whiny, privileged he/they” that “weaponizes and clings to his femininity” and always plays the victim. Notably, they echo all of your standard truscum bullying tactics. They mock his choice of name, stereotype his interests as “cringe” or childish. They treat him not as a trans man, but as a future detransitioner, a future terf, a cringey teenage girl. And if they can make themselves believe that he’s not truly trans, he becomes the perfect “acceptable target.” After all, trans people can’t really bully their oppressors, so when they do it, they’re actually punching up.

Now, their perceptions of these men are bullshit, obviously, but what’s even worse is their refusal to acknowledge the third and most common group of trans men in the community: Mid-transition/visibly transgender men.

Men with visible facial hair, low voices, and breasts. Men who have traits that are commonly regarded as both feminine and masculine. Men who cannot afford or do not personally desire top surgery, but have decided to hormonally transition. Men who have fully transitioned, but enjoy dressing in clothes society deems “feminine.” Men who have not transitioned medically, but have masculine haircuts and clothing and names. Literally any trans guy with visible top surgery scars.

The list goes on.

The people who claim transandrophobia isn't real refuse to acknowledge that visibly transgender men even exist, because these men don’t fit into their worldviews and weaken their arguments.

At the end of the day, society hates anybody they can identify as trans, most often anyone who’s visibly GNC and/or visibly transgender. Cis people react to your existence with disgust and fear. It doesn’t matter if you’re a trans woman, a trans man, nonbinary or intersex- if they cannot sort you neatly into the categories of “man” and “woman”, you are regarded as something that’s not truly human, an enemy. And because it’s all based on perception, even perisex cis people are caught in the crossfire of this- especially if they’re POC.

Those who deny this are contributing to the erasure of trans men and enabling future violence against them.

Trans friends

This week I

1. Cried

2. Snapped at the wrong people

3. Doom scrolled

4. Stress ate

5. Been angry/scared/depressed/sad/confused

This week I have also

1. Hung out with my best friend

2. Made snacks with some adults and other teens in my community while we talked through our shared fears

3. Danced it out

4. Played with my baby siblings

5. Been hopeful/happy/joyful/embraced community

The next four years are going to be hard. There will be stress, and there will be fear, and there will be uncertainty. There will also be resilience, and community, and love. There will be a hundred thousand tomorrows to come where trans people will continue to exist in the face of everything the world throws at us.

You are not alone. None of us are alone. Reach out to your community, there is always someone who is willing to listen. Find your joy. Make your joy. Just be here, we’re all better off for it.

it actively holds everyone back when you equate femininity and femmeness to weakness. whenever you imply that feminine people and femmes are inherently weak, in need of protection, inherently submissive, incapable of hurting others, and pathetic, you are holding everyone back: women, men, people of all kinds, trans, cis, intersex, non binary and beyond.

femmes do not inherently need to be protected. feminine people do not inherently need to be looked after. femmes are not incapable of defending themselves, of being strong, of being capable of protecting others, of being independent, of being masculine as well, or being assertive or dominant. femmes and feminine people are capable of being just as diverse as any other group of people and when you insinuate that femininity is inherently tied to weakness you fail everyone.

mascs and butches aren't inherently strong, and they don't have to be. femmes and feminine people aren't inherently weak and they don't have to be. perpetuating these cisheterosexual norms in the queer community does no one any favors.

god i love using my "esoteric non-man gender" (or lack of one) to advocate for my trans brothers and siblings.

I love being exactly the kind of person bigots hate.

Tells me I'm doing something right.

It’s funny how so many of these proudly transandrophobic blogs are just. Blatantly intersexist and exorsexist as well. Literally just blocked a binary trans person who had four posts in a row whinging about nonbinary people and their “esoteric non-man genders”

And if they're not doing that, they're saying intersex individuals shouldn’t speak up about the casual intersexism rampant in the LGBT+ community, because it makes queer perisex people sad :(

Sometimes these dumbasses even go for triple, and call every transfem whose even vaguely supportive of trans men “pick mes” or “brainwashed puppets” or even “trans men in disguise”, because nothing says you’re supportive of trans women like a dose of transmisogyny!

I guess anyone who is proudly a bigot towards one group is probably gonna be a bigot to others, even if they try to pretend otherwise.

Makes em easy to block, though. One less dumbass on my dash, hope they figure their shit out bc god damn, it’s embarrassing to witness.

I really am coming to hate the way performative horniness is used to signifiy support, especially for trans people.

"OMG I LOVE TRANS WOMEN I JUST GO FERAL FOR THEM STEP ON ME MOMMY"

Okay, cool, so you'll be there on your knees begging the trans woman to be your perfect sexual goddess, but will you be sitting on the couch and be normal when she wants to rant about her shitty day at work or if she just wants to order takeout and watch Netflix?

"I LOVE MEN WITH PUSSIES GIVE ME SCUBA GEAR CAUSE ILL BE GOING DOWN ON HIM FOR HOURS"

Great, so you want get all up in the trans man's pussy with the presumption he'll be your submissive bottom, but where are you going to be when he has a breakdown after a 3-hour call with insurance or he says he'd rather just spend time working on a 1000-piece puzzle?

I don’t give a shit about kink discourse. Anyone who thinks too much about what other people jerk off too is weird. Especially people who try to turn it into a “my kink is more progressive and radical than your kink” shit. That’s like the queer discourse version of “my dad is stronger then your dad”
