one word spells

As long as you can focus your energy and set your intention your spell should work, so I’ve designed these 5 spells using just one word for a Witch who needs a quick fix.

Mariquil

Pronounced mar-e-quil

Used to calm a temper or an upset person. From the latin word for sea, mare, and the english word tranquil. Essentially you are calling the sea inside them to be still. For better results cast with wet hands.

Univert

Pronounced Uni-var

Used for faster transport. I use it at the train station to have a shorter wait time but really its designed for traffic lights. By combining uni from universe and vert, the french word for green, you’re essentially asking the universe to make your path green.

Visididen

Pronounced Vis-e-did-en

Used to go unnoticed or invisible. Taken from the english words vision and hidden. For best results chant it softly while visualising yourself turning transparent.

Lapagna

Pronounced Lap-ag-na

Used when you just need someone to shut the f**k up but are too polite to say so. Taken from the Latin words lapis and magna, meaning stone and voice. For best results hold a stone or some earth while casting, if they’re really pissing you off just throw the stone or dirt at them.

Bavarignis

pronounced Bav-are-ig-ni

Used to strike up a conversation or to continue a conversation. Taken from the French word bavarder, which means chat, and the Latin word ignis, which means fire. Basically you’re asking for the conversation to spark or catch fire. For best results flick a lighter in your pocket or light a match.

☽ Sea Knot Magick: a Wish Bracelet Spell ☾

☽ Sea Knot Magick: A Wish Bracelet Spell ☾

This spell in particular is very special to me as it was one of my first successful spells when I started practicing in the 7th grade. It’s a perfect example of Sea/Lunar Witchcraft and Knot Magick!

What you need:

☾ a Full Moon

☾ 5 different colored embroidery threads - one color to represent the moon (white, silver, even yellow), one color to represent the ocean, a color to represent your birth stone, a color to represent the wish (red/pink for love, green for luck/prosperity, etc.), and your favorite color. The length of the threads is dependent upon the type of bracelet you choose to make–I did a double chevron, throwback to friendship bracelets (▰˘◡˘▰)

☾ A conch shell

☾ A symbol (a piece of jewelry that has sentimental value; could’ve been given to you by a loved one, or perhaps you choose a piece that represents the sea)

☾ Blue lace agate, which can be used as a wish stone, or stones that correspond with your wish

☾ Rain water, salt water, or sea water; I recommend water charged by the moon, your crystals, or blessed by Poseidon/Aphrodite/Selene/your patron

☾ (Optional) a Sea Altar or altar honoring a Sea Deity

What to do:

Take the embroidery threads and begin to make a bracelet of your choice out of them; it doesn’t matter what pattern you choose, be it chevron, double wave, diamond, etc.

While you make each knot, visualize your energy flowing into the bracelet. Charge it with your wish. I even repeated my wish as a mantra in my head during the process as a type of affirmation as well, focusing on the outcome of my wish. While making the bracelet (which, depending on the pattern, can take a while), have some ocean-scented candles or incense burning! Let the bracelet sit on an ocean themed altar when you aren’t working on it.

Upon finishing it, let the bracelet soak in a bowl of your salt/rain/sea water for 10 minutes. Use blue lace agate or your stone(s) of choice to charge the water beforehand–remember to research whether or not the crystals are safe to sit in water overnight! If the water hasn’t already been blessed, this would be a good opportunity to place the bowl on your altar, place an offering beside it, and ask a Sea Deity or your patron to bless it!

Wrap the bracelet around your symbol and place it underneath the conch shell for 1 full day

On the next full moon, place your bracelet outside in the light of the full moon.

Wear the bracelet until the wish comes true!

When I did this spell originally, I had confused the new moon symbol with the full moon symbol on my calendar by accident. The night it was supposed to sit out in the moonlight, I figured the moon had already risen and fallen by then, so I went to bed and had a dream about the full moon. The next morning, I woke up and noticed it had already started to take effect. I remember realizing that magick worked in strange ways, and I was astonished and how fast it worked–I highly recommend this spell for sea witches! Feel free to incorporate the appropriate herbs or an incantation!

Skin Tone Swatches, For Use As A Resource.

Skin tone swatches, for use as a resource.

Spudfuzz on Deviantart made the original resource, which I modified to be a bit more realistic. She gave me permission to post this.

☛These swatches, like all art resources, should be used as a “jumping off point!” All colours are relative, and change with lighting conditions. As they are now, these swatches work best for adoptables, character lineups, and other art where local colour is important. ☚

Use your craft to help the protesters

Now normally, I don’t make big posts or have calls-to-action. I’m supportive of the ones I see, and share posts on my social media’s, but don’t often make my own posts about them. But this is too big for any of us to remain silent about. The murder of George Floyd is yet another example of the society we’re living in. It’s one where marginalized groups are constantly attacked and subdued by the actions of the ruling (rich, white) class. We can’t just sit by and let this continue. BLACK LIVES MATTER and to not speak out or act when something so heinous is happening in front of our eyes cannot continue. Want to help the protesters, but can’t march or donate? Use the skills you’ve learned to make a change.

Cast protection and prosperity spells for the protesters:

If you’re able to cast spells, use what you’ve learned to protect the protesters from the violent tactics of the police. Give the protesters the strength and reassurance they need to continue the fight. Help them in gathering the courage needed to face such horrible backlash. Protection is one of the best ways to help if you’re hesitant about directing your spells towards the violent police forces. Let your spells be felt in some way rather than not acting at all.

Bind the police to prevent them from causing more harm:

This one is something many of us can do and if you’re against cursing then this can be a way for you to help even further. Binding the police who are attacking protesters can help protect them even more. Stopping them before violence starts or continues will be incredibly helpful for the protesters who are marching in the streets. It’s been seen that in many instances during these protests, police officers have been the ones instigating violence or harassing protesters to the point where they have no other choice but to react in a way police categorize as violent. Don’t let them do this. Bind their actions to where they can’t continue the violence we’ve been seeing.

Cast curses and hexes directed at police attacking the protesters and causing them serious harm:

Now I’m pro-cursing, but I make sure I have a clear target in my mind whose face I can clearly see. It’s important to also get a name of the target of your curse if you can. This makes it so curses can’t rebound somewhere else or harm the people trying to make a change. Make your target feel the negativity their actions are causing. Make them realize the hate they are causing and the grief they are responsible for. Demoralize them and give them repercussions for attacking protesters

Create sigils that you can share with your friends to family to protect them if they are protesting:

Protective sigils made by you with the intent to help the people around you are a great way to have your work out in the protest. They can help those around the person carrying the sigil and spread the intent of the sigil throughout the protest. You can also create a sigil to do the same thing and burn it or dispose of it in a way which destroys it to send your intent out if someone can not carry it in a protest.

Work with your gods and goddesses to protect the people marching:

Pray to the deities you work with, especially the ones who are associated with protection. In the Norse pantheon, these can be deities such as Thor (especially), Tyr, Freyja, and Odin (among others). Look into the pantheons you work with and the deities you know to see if you can ask them to give their blessings to the protesters. Always be respectful when you’re doing this and give them offerings if that’s how you honor you deities or dedicate some actions to them as thanks for their help.

As people who are part of marginalized communities, it is our duty to support these protests and bring about the change that is so desperately needed. We need to stand with our brothers and sisters to fight against the brutality that is so prevalent in so many areas of the world. Even if you don’t identify as part of a marginalized community, not speaking out against the brutality happening is the same as supporting its continuation. We need to do what we can. Add ways to help the movement that I haven’t mentioned. BLACK LIVES MATTER
