“Our mother should’ve just named you Laika”
CW: Animal Death
If you haven’t heard of her, Laika is a Soviet dog sent to space during the space race in 1957. She was the first living animal to orbit the earth.
Her trip was tragically one-way.
Her trip played an instrumental role in proving that space was livable and we owe her so much. I suggest you read more about her as my summary was very short and barely touches the amazing and tragic story of Laika.
I made this piece for a school project and I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. The assignment was to incorporate song lyrics into a design, and I chose Arcade Fire - Neighborhood #2 (Laika). It’s a great song and I knew I wanted to base my drawing around it. I also find interest in Laika’s story, so this song was a great match for me. I’m pretty happy with how this turned out and I’m definitely going to make more art centered around her. In the mean time, go check out her story and Arcade Fire’s music!!
Also, before anyone comments, I know that the lyric is ‘should’ve’ rather than ‘shoulda’. I made the change to help with formatting, so before you say something please know I am aware that it is incorrect!

Alright, three days and I have the Jesse designs ready!
I wanted to give all of them more distinct designs than just “suspenders” and “hair-clip” colour to distinguish them, so.
I gave each of them a nickname based on color and tried to differentiate their looks!
Red suspenders “Scarlet” and Golden/Orange hair-clip “Topaz”
These were the hardest I think, cause their look is just so plain and basic…so I added a wee bit of
✨✨flare✨✨
Green suspenders “Jade” and Red hair-clip “Ruby”
The good ones, the classic, the (possibly) favourite Jesse’s? I wanted to give her a pony-tail, so. Pony-tail.
And male Jesse seems like the guy who likes to be comfy, so, jumper!
Pink suspenders “Spinel” and Pink hair-clip “Peach” Jesse!
They were the clearly “Asian” looking ones- it was SO hard to give them a normal looking skin tone because the Minecraft models look YELLOW and it was so bad.
So yeah, I do kinda like their designs, and I’m a fan of giving Peach the Hairpin instead of hairclip- and changing the suspenders to a sort of hanfu looking top instead.
Blue suspenders “Navy” and Purple hair-clip “Peri” Jesse
I do love their designs. They were the ones (especially Navy) who just looked the most like they came out straight of the 30-40s. So I got em some good ol’ vintage fashion look, inspired by some outfits I saved when I was doing costume research for the 30s to 50s eras.
Also I gave Navy glasses cause he looks like the type to be a smartass.
Salmon suspenders “Cider” and Yellow hair-clip “Sunny” Jesse.
I love them, and they were a bit Korean-inspired, while Peach and Spinel were more on the Chinese side. I do quite like how their shoes and trouser came out.
Yellow suspenders “Rooney” (from Macaroon) and Blue hair-clip “Lapis” Jesse
I really like them, I feel like they would both be such cheerful and lovely characters. Also, Butterfly hair-clip for Lapis, yes.
My MCSM headcanons (Part 4/5) (I'm still alive lol)
-Lukas has a collection of ocelot plushies in his house. His friends will heartfully laugh at him for finding it cute. (He does overthink if they're actually making fun of him.)
-Axel one time encountered an aggressive wolf at night when he was looking for wood. He scared it off by pretending to be a creeper using his mask and fake tnt blocks.
-Ivor once was making a splash potion of poison, until it unintentionally fell off his hands, almost hurting Harper, but it didn't. She forgives him and they still joke about it to this day.
-Olivia would have a baby sheep as a pet.
-The real reason Petra named her golden sword 'Miss Butter' was because she would have "butter-fingers" trying to hold it at the start. (She eventually learned how to hold it correctly without easily dropping it.)
-Ellagaard and Magnus are the definition of "siblings that constantly argue", according to Gabriel and Soren, since one of them always has to stop them from fighting.
-Aiden, Gill, and Maya will be roommates all together. Maya would cook, and Gill would clean. Aiden will do gardening and find materials for tools, but most of the time, he would just slack off.
-Milo and Isa will raise Benedict together as their own child.

i think it's so funny when queer creators have het ships in their work that are way better than most cishet writers can come up with
one detail i like about thanks to them is that willow is an ugly sleeper and its so funny
