A Fun Little Fandom Meme I Filled In Bit By Bit On Breaks Over The Course Of A Busy Day.  I Generally

A fun little fandom meme I filled in bit by bit on breaks over the course of a busy day.  I generally try to fill things like this in by doodling as rapidly as possible with minimal erasing or undoing.

I was pointed toward this meme by my friend and fellow Doctor Who fan aikainkauna.  The original blank meme is by neekaneeks on Deviantart.

I’ve Long Tried To Do Something Creative Every Day If Possible, Whether It Be Something Huge And Refined

I’ve long tried to do something creative every day if possible, whether it be something huge and refined or a small sketch I throw out and never think of again.

For 2016, as I focus on getting myself back into a good creative place after a very difficult 2015, I’ve decided to try and make a project out of daily doodles.  Here’s Day One, a 10-minute MyPaint self-portrait.  I hate doing self-portraits and timed drawing, so what better way to push myself out of my comfort zone a bit?

3 September, 2004: The Making of a Logo

“Right,” said Russell T Davies, pouring himself another mug of tea before turning back to his art team. “Now, on to the next issue; the logo. Suggestions?”

“Let’s reuse the Diamond Logo,” said junior...

When I Was Growing Up, There Was A Certain "inspirational" Poem Most, If Not All, Of My Elderly Christian

When I was growing up, there was a certain "inspirational" poem most, if not all, of my elderly Christian relatives had framed and displayed somewhere in their home.

I rewrote the poem as inspirational material for a Jedi pursuing the Dark Side of the Force, and set it against a Tatooine version of its standard backdrop.  I don't know about you folks, but I certainly feel more inspired now.

Here's the poem in text:

"Bootprints"

One night I dreamed I was walking through the Tatooine desert with Lord Vader.  Many scenes from my life flashed across the sky.

In each scene I noticed bootprints in the sand.  Sometimes there were two sets of bootprints, other times there was one set only.

This bothered me because I noticed that during the low periods of my life, when I was suffering from anguish, sorrow, or rebel defeat, I could see only one set of bootprints, so I said to Lord Vader,

"You promised me Father, that if I joined you, we would rule the galaxy as father and son.  But I have noticed that during the most trying periods of my journey toward the Dark Side, there has only been one set of bootprints in the sand.  Why, when I needed you most, have you not been there for me?"

Lord Vader replied, "The times when you have seen only one set of bootprints, my son, that is when I levitated you."

Digital Illustration Of The Different TARDIS Keys seen Over The Years On Doctor Who.

Digital illustration of the different TARDIS keys seen over the years on Doctor Who.

Multiple screenshots of each were used as reference material to ensure that even the bumps on the normal-key-style keys are locksmith-accurate.  I'm sort of a dork like that.

The background is this NASA photo, which was widely enjoyed by Who fandom as it resembles a real-life version of the show's "Crack in the Universe."  For extra giggles I drew the keychain in the shape of the Crack.

My BFF Grey Has A Listing On The Internet Movie Database.

My BFF Grey has a listing on the Internet Movie Database.

As you may know, if someone listed on IMDb wants to upload a photograph to their listing they need to buy a pro membership on the site.  While I couldn't do that for her, I did the next best thing: I redrew my Fairey-ish portrait of her in smileys, and posted it to her IMDb message board.

I can't help but think the potential of message board smileys as an artistic medium has barely been scratched.

So I’ve Missed A Few Days Of Daily Doodles.  Sue Me! :-D  Life Happens, And I’ve Chosen Not To

So I’ve missed a few days of daily doodles.  Sue me! :-D  Life happens, and I’ve chosen not to let slipping on my own self-imposed challenge bother me.  I’ll just do my best to pick it up again.

I drew this at a bar. It doesn’t represent anyone in particular, just this freaking guy.

Today’s daily doodle was a race against myself, in just under three minutes I drew a pinback button which happened to be sitting on my desk.
