KANG SAEBYEOK APPRECIATION POST BC IVE NEVER TALKED ABOUT HOW MUCH I LOVE HER AND I NEED TO
HERES SOME THINGS I LOVE ABOUT HER
Face card? LETHAL. Prettiest girl I’ve ever seen. Does she have a license for that weapon????
When Minyeo said “step on me” to her, i was like GIRL ME TOO
Sleep gas doesnt even fucking phase her. Shes so real and badass for that.
Her moments with her brother are so sweet and tender, she loves her brother so much and i just 🥺
Shes so smart! And resourceful!
I feel like she gives the best hugs if youre one of her favorite people
Her sneaking the knife in too was also so badass, like damn girl you had the right idea i love you
Her having a friend if nothing else in Jiyeong and also a great bond with Gihun warms my heart and makes me cry to think about all the time
Saebyeok’s story ALWAYS makes me cry
Her hair is so gorgeous at all fucking times
The stunning allure she exhibits when she stares is so hggfjduvyvhf if she looked at me like that id falter
Small brains: “This Squid Game character is completely bad and has no positive qualities!” “This Squid Game character is completely good and has no negative qualities!”
Big, massive, gigantic brains: Every Squid Game character is a realistic portrayal of the human mind and morals, no character is void of sin nor are any of them inherently wrong for anything they do when put under the pressure of being forced into situations where they have no choice but to survive or die trying. No decision is stupid or weak when a gun is pointed to your head, or a sharp object is held to your throat. When a human’s life is threatened, of course they will make decisions that we at home deem irrational, and we see it that way because we are not them. We are not groveling on our knees with the barrel of a gun aimed for the spot between our eyes, we are sitting in the comfort and luxury of our homes, watching a fictional show about a dramatized rendition of the effects of CAPITALISM.
It is okay, in fact warranted and natural, to feel hatred for people who do questionable things, as well as adoration and empathy. You are human. So are they. That is the point of the portrayal. Gihun wasn’t fucking around when he forgave and trusted so easily. He doesnt see “evil” or “nefarious” he sees human.
The REAL enemy? The system. Which is what we’ve been trying to say since DAY ONE of Squid Game’s release. Next time your blorbo gets killed off, dont look at the crazed stare in their murderer’s eyes, look at the knife or gun in their hand and ask yourself the question;
Who put that there?
Who put the weapon in their hand and gave them the capability and the drive to do it in the first place? When you do that, you will achieve clarity, i promise.
GROWING PAINS
masterlist | kang sae-byeok x reader
synopsis: when you realize your dyed hair has grown out, leaving your natural roots exposed, you’re horrified to learn that your girlfriend, Sae-byeok, has noticed this entire time—and said nothing.
warnings: none
part two
The apartment was quiet, save for the distant hum of cars outside and the static murmur of a late-night drama playing on the TV. The glow from the screen flickered across the walls, illuminating the tiny space you shared with Sae-byeok. Sae was half asleep—curled up on the couch, legs pulled up, hoodie sleeves covering most of her hands as she lazily scrolled through her phone. You, on the other hand, were standing in front of the small mirror near the bathroom, combing through your damp hair after a shower. It was a routine moment, something you did a hundred times before—until something caught your eye. You froze mid-stroke, your fingers threading through the strands near your scalp. Your roots. You frowned, tilting your head, pushing back sections of your hair for a better look. The contrast was undeniable. How long had it been like this? More importantly— You turned, squinting at Sae-byeok, who was completely unbothered, thumb lazily tapping against her phone screen. She definitely noticed. And said nothing. You let out a small hum before walking over to the couch, moving slowly, casually, until you reached her. She barely glanced up as you approached. Perfect. Without hesitation, you swung a leg over and plopped yourself onto her lap. Sae tensed for half a second, but her hands instinctively came to rest on your waist, steadying you. Her brows furrowed slightly. “What are you doing?” You peered down at her, tilting your head with mock innocence. “I just have one question.” She raised an eyebrow. Holding up a section of your hair between the two of you, you asked, “Is this what you see all the time?” “What?” she asked, playing dumb. You rolled your eyes, shifting slightly in her lap as you gestured toward your roots. “This. My very obvious, very tragic grown-out roots. You noticed, right?”
Her eyes flickered to the section you were holding, taking in the obvious line of regrowth.
Then, with zero guilt whatsoever, she looked back at you and shrugged. “I thought you knew.” You scoffed. “I did not.” Her lips twitched—just barely, but you caught it. She was amused. Letting the strand fall, you leaned in closer, resting your forearms on her shoulders as you studied her. “So, what? You were just gonna let me walk around looking like this?” Sae exhaled through her nose—her version of a laugh. “You look fine.” “Fine?” You raised an eyebrow. “You’ve been looking at this every day and just… didn't say anything?” “I didn’t think it was important.” You narrowed your eyes, but there was no real frustration behind it. She was so annoyingly nonchalant about everything. It was part of what made her, well… her. You huffed. “I look like a walking before-and-after picture of a bad hair dye.” She chuckled, and it was soft—softer than the teasing smirk on her face. Sighing, you ran your fingers through your hair. “Okay, but real talk, how bad is it?” She closed her eyes like she was truly contemplating it. Then, in the flattest tone imaginable, said, “Tragic.” You smacked her arm again. “You’re the worst.” She finally cracked an actual laugh this time, shaking her head. “I’m kidding.” “Are you?” She hummed, reaching out lazily to play with the ends of your hair. “Yeah.” A moment passed. Her fingers moved to trace small, absentminded patterns against your waist. “So, what now?” You huffed. “Guess I have to fix it.” She tilted her head. “What color?” You perked up. “Thinking blue this time.” Sae nodded, eyes trailing over your face. “That’d suit you." You narrowed your eyes. “You always say that.” She shrugged. “Because it’s always true.” Your stomach flipped—just slightly, just enough that you had to distract yourself by leaning in, letting your nose brush against hers. “You’re being cute again.” She smirked. “Hate it?” “Not at all.” Her eyes softened, but she didn’t say anything, just let her fingers flex slightly against your waist. You leaned back. “You know… you should let me dye your hair next.” Sae’s smirk disappeared instantly. “No.” You grinned. “Oh, come on, just a little streak? You’d look hot with a streak.” Sae shot you a deadpan look. “No.” You laughed, reaching down to squeeze her hand. “You know, if you had to pick a colour, what would it be?” Sae hummed, thinking for a moment. “Black.” “Boring.” She glanced at you, raising a brow. “It’s my natural colour.” “Still boring.”
She lightly scoffed in response. A small smile grew back onto her face. You grinned. “One day, I’m gonna catch you slipping, and you’re gonna wake up with pink hair.” Sae laughed under her breath. “And you’re gonna wake up single.” You pouted. “You’d really leave me over hair dye?” She hummed nonchalantly. “Try me.” Laughing, you turned your head slightly, watching her—really watching her.
The way her lashes fluttered slightly as she blinked slowly, the way her lips curled ever so slightly in amusement, the way her body had softened against yours, even when she was teasing you. Your heart clenched. “You love me,” you whispered. Sae cracked one eye open, unimpressed. “Are we still talking about this?” “Yes.” She sighed, like this was the most exhausting thing in the world. Then, after a pause— “Yeah.” Your breath hitched.
You softened, squeezing her hand. “I love you too” Sae smirked slightly, eyes fluttering shut again. “Good.”

My brain is mush, and it needs some inspiration!!
Another thing that annoys me about YT Squid Game is the deleted scene where Se-Mi is angry at Nam-Gyu because he keeps failing to succeed in spinning top.
People deadass saying "oh that's why he killed her. They are both bad"
THAT'S NOT THE FUCKING POINT. Also, FUCK YOU for even IMPLYING there was a single valid reason for killing her.
realised that while I don’t personally care for 457 as a ship I don’t mind it when it’s in AUs, it’s when it’s depicted as in-universe that it gives me the ick
Cho Sang-Woo is such a complex character he gets mischaracterized by the people who hate him, admire him, or love him.

prologue and chapters 1 & 2 are being published simultaneously so the story gains some momentum before the weekly schedule starts, and there’s some content for readers to get stuck into :)
I just realised that to meet my planned publishing schedule for the upcoming sg serial fic I need to have the prologue and first two chapters finished four weeks from now, pretty much to the day (planned release date is every saturday) plus enough extra material written ahead so that I can stay on track
which means I need the jibyeok and ji-yeong fics done ASAP because I am not a quick writer
so fics will be coming soon!!!!

actually no there is an egregious mistype and that’s thanos being typed as an ESTP. literally every single impulsive antagonist gets typed as that and it’s so annoying, bro has zero Ti whatsoever and is extremely clearly using Fi-Te
deok-su and nam-gyu are examples of actual ESTPs where you can clearly see Ti usage, and tertiary Fe (more in deok-su’s case)
the only thing they have in common with thanos is nonexistent Ni lmao
re: prev post, I’m actually on the ‘sang-woo is an ENTJ’ side of the discussion on that and I’m not 100% sold on in-ho as an INTJ, I could see ISTJ just as much
squid game actually doesn’t have a load of horrendous mistypes on PDB which is nice, with the exception of hyun-ju being voted as an enneagram 4 which is literally always applied to trans people purely for being trans. actually come to think of it I also don’t buy the case for her being an ISFP, she’s definitely an ENFJ which I think has the vote rn

The pattern is there 🤷♀️
put three f/f ships you like in the tags. doesnt matter how obscure or embarrassing the media, go for it. and no, your m/m ship doesnt count as women
not gonna post about it much if at all bc this is a sg blog but I started playing class of 09 and it’s already fucking me up wow
ji-yeong would have cleared the glass bridge game because she’s so tiny she wouldn’t even break the non-tempered glass
wait actually now I have thoughts about this lmao
AU where they don’t team up in marbles, sae-byeok teams with sang-woo and refuses to change the game when she’s winning and he fucking dies gootbye
ji-yeong partners with some rando and wins because she’s actually really good at throwing marbles at a wall when she doesn’t drop them on purpose. let’s say it’s the pastor bc she’d absolutely enjoy beating him and he’s an asshole
she goes first on the glass bridge bc she’s a baddie and wants to protect sae-byeok and ends up leading everyone across, the non-tempered glass bends a little under her weight so she knows which is which
(mi-nyeo still pushes deok-su off for laughs tho)
the game staff are super pissed because they now have to figure out how to do squid game with 15 players, and also have to prepare as many fancy steak dinners
no one has a knife fight after dinner bc ji-yeong leads everyone in sharing their life stories over steak and wine and everyone has a good time
she and sae-byeok push their beds together afterwards (sae isn’t quite ready to share a single one and ji-yeong definitely wriggles a lot in her sleep)
everyone gets home safe somehow Idk and they all meet up once a year for a steak dinner
might you also draw s2 gihun hugging s1 characters? Sorry I'm weird, I just love to see more from you
dont apologize! i had a lot of fun with this prompt :3 im always down to draw gi-hun getting hugged
we need a support group
jibyeokers anonymous
and now im sobbing over jibyeok
is this normal
asking for a friend
less than an hour later I have just read over the outline for my ji-yeong fic and am now sat at my desk sniffling and blinking back tears
I am weirdly glad that, based on recent posts I’ve been seeing, I am not the only one who has moments of sobbing incoherently at my fav ship

sae-byeok and your apartment was quiet. too quiet. it wasn't the normal comforting, peaceful, quiet, no. it was an eerie, haunting silence. you were seated on the couch, holding a mug of coffee, but not drinking. sae-byeok had been gone for 3 days. no goodbye, no texts or calls, she had just disappeared.
“unnie…?”
cheol’s little voice cut through silence as he walks into the lounge room. your eyes drift over to the little boy, his timid face tear stained and his eyes slightly puffy.
“d-do you know where sae-byeok is…?”
he looks up with hopeful eyes, though his voice cracks as he says her name, and your heart breaks at the sight of him; a scared little boy who just wants his sister to come home. he slowly walks towards you, his sock clad feet padding on the wooden floor. when you shake your head sadly at him, tears well up in his big brown eyes.
“i’m sorry cheol…i wish i knew.”
he nods sadly, glancing down at his feet and fidgeting with his hands. then, he looks up at you with a sniffle.
“c-can i have a hug…? i…i miss sae’s hugs…”
he asks, his bottom lip quivering as a single tear rolls down his cheek. you knew you had to be strong for him, and make sure he was okay, even if you weren’t.
“of course, cheol, you don’t need to ask for a hug”
your voice is soft and gentle as you place the mug of now cold coffee on the table, and he crawls onto the couch with you, and scooches closer to you. although it’s a little awkward at first, he swiftly gets comfortable and leans on your chest, shutting his eyes as more tears fall.
“t-thank you, y/n…”
your heart fills with an urge to protect and look after this fragile little boy, knowing it’s your duty as sae-byeoks girlfriend. and until you know where she is, your all cheol has.
my shayla :(( haven't even watched that ep yet but the amount of vids i've seen of it...
I am weirdly glad that, based on recent posts I’ve been seeing, I am not the only one who has moments of sobbing incoherently at my fav ship
The real villains of Squid Game are the ones who created the games, the ones who forced desperate people into a brutal competition for the amusement of the rich.
The players were victims.
But the people in charge of the games don't see the players as victims. They don't even see them as people. To them, the players were proof that when pushed to the edge, people will turn on each other. And too often, the VIPs seem to be proven right.
That belief is often compared to crab mentality, the idea that when crabs are trapped in a bucket, they pull each other down as they try to escape, ensuring that none make it out. And often, people use this as proof that humans are naturally selfish.
But, thing is, racbs aren't supposed to be in buckets. When crabs are in a place that is safe for them, they can co-exist. The only reason they claw at each other is because they are trapped and they're desperate to get out. And the reason why they're trapped is because someone put them there in the first place.
And the same is true for people who are trapped in a system designed to keep them down.
The real problem is the system built by those in power, the ones that force the powerless to fight for survival while the rich sit back and watch.
When resources are scarce, when opportunities are limited, and when survival feels like a competition, people will do what it takes to be able to get by.
But that isn't proof of selfishness or betrayal.
It is proof of desperation.
It's proof of a world where those at the top create conditions that make people believe they have no choice but to fight one another.
Instead of blaming those trying to fight this, the blame should be placed on those who create and uphold a system where survival feels like a zero sum game, where only a few are allowed to win while everyone else is left to struggle.
