Vulgar is a conlang (constructed/fictional language) generator created to help literally generate a language for you. No, really. No tricks, and it’s super simple to use. It’s my favourite tool right now for writing fantasy, even as someone who loves creating his own languages, it’s an amazing starting point.
Want a random conlang, straight away, with no prep or fuss? Just visit http://vulgarlang.com/index.html and click “Generate New Conlang”… and that’s it. Scroll down and through your brand new, generated, completely original conlang.
If you’re a little more advanced in terms of conlanging and want to specify IP phonemes to be used, you can add them too, but even with no knowledge of linguistics you can create a language at the click of your fingers.
This version of Vulgar is completely free, sure…. but! the guy who created it has not only made an amazing thing (which I repeat, is absolutely free at it’s most basic point), but is also planning on updating it more and more!
Under the “Buy” tab on the Vulgar website, he links to his email, where you can offer to pay for the full version of Vulgar, which is a total steal right now at a sale price of only nineteen dollars. Considering professional conlangers and linguists could charge you, like, a metric fuck ton of money for the same data you’re getting here for just nineteen, that’s a major steal.
Not to mention, buying the alpha build now gives you free access to all of it’s updated versions, which I can guarantee are just going to get better and better! I’ve already bought it and I adore it, and this is a tool the likes of which we in the conlang community have never seen in such an awesome way.
Please consider helping Vulgar out, because the creator is a damn genius
Fall is watching us play Minecraft today :)
I’m so sorry for the lack of updates 😣 my son recently gave up nap time and then he came down with a cold so he hasn’t been sleeping well at night either. Progress is going at a crawling pace but slow and steady wins the race 😊
I've just been covering the armature slowly while working on her head, when time allows.
I can see why this attitude is really frustrating. I’ve been drawing and crafting seriously since I was about 7 years old, I just dedicated a lot of my free time to learning and researching things online or in books. No one else in my family is a crafter or an artist and we could not afford camps or anything of that sort, so I really did have to teach myself everything.
I have never been to an art school but I’d love to have that chance someday! When I decided to start my own attempt at making a bjd, I spent weeks just scouring Pinterest, Tumblr, Instagram, YouTube, Google, Facebook any resource, to collect tutorials, tips and tricks. I haven’t asked a single sculptor for help directly because most of them seem busy and I’d want to at least be friendly before asking for such help, but that’s just me. I also think it’s so important to do your own research and to use multiple sources because one person’s way may appeal to you or suit your needs better than another.
I am open to advice from anyone who offers it, though! And people have given me advice and it is greatly appreciated.
I know my first doll could very well be a failure, but I am just happy to learn, happy to try new things. I wish more people were willing to risk failure, willing to make a thousand “ugly” things in the hopes of growing and learning as an artist and an individual. It is the process that is beautiful! I love that people want to learn, but please remember it is YOUR journey to take. Asking someone for help or tips is not wrong, at least I don’t think it is (unless the artist has explicitly said they have a tutorial posted somewhere and to read that instead) but to expect someone to spell it all out, to tell you exactly how to do it…it’s just not that simple and one should not expect it to be, because they will surely end up disappointed.
I’ve never sculpted since kindergarten but I can’t afford a bad so imma gonna sculpt me one. It’s easy ‘cause everybody is doing it. Now, dear miss sculptor with ten years of art school and five more of resin casting, drop everything and tell me how to do this! And no, don’t point me to the manual you’ve published online, it’s tl;tr.

I really do feel awful about the lack of updates. I am still working on the commission and so I am not left with any time for personal work, really. I did pick up a dremel, though! So, that's exciting :)
Here's where it all started. I made a general plan for the doll but had no idea how she would end up looking. I still don't! I am letting her work her way out of the paperclay :) I plan to have her final height be 25 cm. This is my first attempt at a few things: Sculpting a human figure Working with paper clay Making a doll
This is the drawer she hides in with her body and a pendant I was working on.
So many things I want right now 😫
I’ve been getting questions coming through about what Abdabs are and where to get them, whether they can be preordered and so on, so I put together this info sheet to help clear things up.
It’s light on the lore, if you’re interested in a fun story and the character of each abdab then head over to the Abdabs section of my website for more info!
It starts on the 1st September but Abdabs will be available in unlimited quanities until the 30th November so there’s no panic to get your order in on the first. However, if you wanted to give an abdab as a Christmas gift I would recommend getting your order in as soon as possible, as shipping around the festive season gets weird and irritating!
Some things I haven’t mentioned on the info:
There will be a special “grab bag” style blind box release of CRYSTAL caberfeidh – they are caberfeidh with transparent heads! I have cast 35 in loads of different colours with glitters, iridescence and some glow in the dark. They will be packaged in an opaque box so I don’t know which you will get, it’s a surprise! They will be £35 each.
There will also be a grab bag blind box release for crystal corvies too, I’m still casting them. I have over 50 and they will be £20 each!
I will be releasing 100 enamel abdab pins this year! Yup, jumping on the pin game. But I love them and they’re little affordable fun things. They will be £7 each - $9
Just 16 days to go!!
Oh my gosshhhh

Worked on her cheeks, chin and lower lip. Only had a little time tonight but I’m glad I made some progress. Slowly working toward symmetry :) Picture is a before (left) and after (right) of my progress.
I am an aspiring doll maker and seasoned crafter and artist. I plan to share all of my creations here.
