okay but the passage of time and how owen is played by two different actors but maddy isn't. maddy is the one who runs headfirst towards who she is, even though it scares her. owen at first is growing, is changing, but once he refuses to leave with maddy he stagnates. and so even twenty years later he still is his high school self. he never grows and changes and becomes isabel, and so he stays the same.
