Originally these paintings started out as distraction from school work and I also wanted to get better at cinematic composition and gradient mapping. I never imagined that this would turn into a several months long project but here we are!

I think tumblr is the one place where it’s acceptable to make a really long post just talking about the little details I hid in these pictures:

First of all everyone is looking in a very specific direction (until Joel came along but he is special let him be).

Pearl is looking at the camera, she is the only one who is aware of the viewer (you) while Cleo isn’t looking at us at all because she couldn’t actually “see” with the VR on their head. Also Cleo is surrounded by a cemetery of her previous alliances.

Technically Scott and Martyn are are looking up and down. Martyin is sinking into the sea with the hourglass in his hands, while Scott is touching the stars.

Grian and Scar who are both looking at each other technically. I also intentionally used colorschemes that were similar to one another. Oh yeah, and two certain flowers are also present…I wonder what those stand for!

And well Joel is just there currently but his has to be my favourite, color, composition and storytelling wise too. I was giggling to myself while drawing and just had the best time ever and it seems like the majority of you agree that his turned out great!

Scar, with his charming personality, is a nightwing who doesn't realize he has mind reading abilities, and thinks everyone is just like that. He also thinks it's normal to hear "the shadow people" in the distance, watching them.

so i was rewatching third life recently and i thought it was so funny how in the first few episodes grian is like "omg i'm so sorry that this isn't the fun collaborative season i had planned i can't believe how chaotic this is now" and then in wild life he was so pissed off about joel and his car because it wasn't death and destrucion enough. like damn grian the watchers really got you into all this death game stuff huh?

ok so a little yap about grians tour vid (which i finally watched guys who's proud of me and it was really fun) so my main povs are usually like grian, scar, etho, pearl, and mumbo, and i don't even watch all of them regularly. anyway i really appreciated seeing other people and i discovered a bunch of hermits who were really sweet and i lowkey loved? like joe??

this guy was so freaking sweet? like i have never watched his vids at all but when grian went over to his base and he was talking about how his base is based on the work of this finnish architect and then proceeded to nerd out about it for like 30 seconds. SIR?? YOU'RE SO ADORABLE!! and then he was like oh grian if you ever need any space you know where to find me. Idk man but this little guy is so cute and i cant beleive i didn't know about him. so anyway thanks grian for introducing me to the hermits and uhm yeah lets appreciate less popular hermits because they're super awsome!!

Jimmy DID fulfill the canary curse. Technically, he was the second out, but the end- the void- is a separate domain entirely to the coalmine of the canary. Lizzie tried to utilize a power that wasn't her own to fulfill mortal goals, and she faced the consequence of a will beyond that of the players on the server. But Jimmy still died next, the first death in the domain of players, the canary in the coalmine dying to symbolize the danger of red chaos approaching, completely separate from Lizzie's mishandling of a world she holds no power in. A canary can't protect you if you leave the coalmine.

I never do this. Heh.

Being a traffic fan is easy because if your pair interacts you win because they're obsessed with each other and if your pair DOESNT interact it's obviously because they're too heartbroken about their shared history to dare look at each other and thus you still win

Kind of separate BUT in the home servers is the only place where players remember the games (think scar being traumatized by an explosion in HC after lim life), and when they're in the games all they can remember is they've seen that face before, splattered with blood and streaked with tears, but they can't recall if it was only a dream or not

Also when players die they go back to their home server with trauma.

Most watched pov is grian (scar and martyn are close seconds)
