ABACUSYNTH by ELIAS JARZOMBEK [2022]

Abacusynth is a synthesizer inspired by an abacus, the ancient counting tool used all around the world. Just like an abacus is used to learn the fundamentals of math, the Abacusynth can be used to explore the building blocks of audio synthesis.

Whether tmp Gerry is the same Gerry from tma, him being happy in any capacity brings me a world of peace.

People don’t give website runners enough credit when things go down. Kudos to ao3 staff for handling two downtimes in as many days, resolving them quickly, keeping users up to date, and giving heads-ups for stability. Yall are incredible, thanks for keeping ao3 running!

I love the tma fandom turnaround on The Horrors. For about three weeks, everyone was like omg happy gerry! Look at him! Probably some repressed trauma but he seems to have gotten out! And then people got suspicious and now everyones like “he seems… too happy. Who’s controlling him” and honestly it’s kind of funny to watch

I just saw an ad for angry birds in the same shitty format as every other shitty mobile game ad right now? The kind that’s a weird skit where two random people are talking and then one starts infodumping unprompted about how the game is free and has no ads? It was kind of funny brcause those game ads suck, but kind of sad because i remember when ads didn’t look or sound like that, and they shouldn’t have done that to a mobile game legend like angry birds.

I just noticed that at the beginning of mag 106, Melanie does a clap. I haven't confirmed if she does that in other episodes yet or not, but assuming she does, I love that little nod to her being a youtuber. I remember Tom Scott making a video about the little clap he does at the beginning of his videos, and anyways now I'm imagining the clap is a reflex from her time working with audiovisual medium rather than just audio. I also love the metalevel of a tma character doing a clap to sync audio, while the actor playing said character is surrounded by sound guys who (based on the bloopers) spend a lot of time clicking and clapping to get the audio balance right.

Im getting a ton of posts on my dash like “reblog if you support x and if you don’t then you’re evil” and it’s fucking with me because as a rule I only reblog stuff that makes me happy, inspired, or conveys a concept I’ve been trying to articulate for years (it’s harder to get me to reblog something that isn’t fandom related, since i want this to be a largely upbeat fandom rambling blog, a pocket of chaotic lightheartedness in a dark world). So I’m making one big post of all of the things:

First off: I stand with Palestine. I don’t post much about Palestine, but this is because I know that humans are much less effective if they’re sad, so I want to make visitors to my blog (who, given that they’re on tumblr, are probably looking for a break from reality) happy enough that they can actually Do Something instead of wallowing in how bad everything is, and I figure that if you follow practically anyone else on Tumblr you probably see a ton of Palestine posts already. Now for the queer/identity stuff: I support all queer people. I support arospec and acespec of all kinds, i support trans people, i support enbies, i support people of all genders (especially xenogender havers and neopronoun users, yall are great), terfs can fuck off, labels exist to help us understand ourselves and each other, not to be gatekept and exclude people just because the real villains (actual honest-to-god bigots with large amounts of money and political power) are too scary to fight.

(I am queer. Frankly, I’ve given up on labels altogether for myself, but gender, especially xenogenders, were a hyperfixation of mine for a while, and I identified with a lot of labels before tossing them all out and going with “idk, not cis?”. Wanted to add this, because all the above makes it sound like I’m a cishetallo ally and i am definitely not cis, het, or allo)

I’m undoubtedly missing a ton more things, but I needed to make this post because I don’t want my dash to just be a thousand “reblog if you support x” posts that i reblogged because i was worried people would think i was evil if i didn’t.

And on that note: please stop villainizing people who dont reblog your post. It’s really not cool, and quite manipulative. Sincerely, someone with anxiety over practically everything on the internet

Maybe this is just the sleep deprivation but what IS the difference between the desolation and the slaughter when you get down to it? Both deal with indiscriminate destruction. Is destruction of humans so far removed in the public conscious from destruction of property? Or is it that the slaughter tends to deal with war, government mandated destruction, and the desolation deals with smaller scale/less overseen destruction?

Martin would be genuinely horrified by my tea tastes.

Let me tell you how i make my tea. I boil water, pour it in the mug with the tea bag. So far so good.

And then i forget it exists for a half hour.

Result: lukewarm tea (sometimes reheated in microwave), steeped half to death, no sugar or milk. And i LOVE it.

On the one hand when first listening to that bit i shouted SAM YOU IDIOT STOP FILLING OUT HORROR PAPERWORK

On the other i sometimes actively seek out weird surveys for the hell of it so i feel like if i came across a form that weird i would probably fill it out too
