about to write a post like “Tomura can and does handle basic human interactions like a normal human being - can we stop writing him like he was literally raised in the wild”
no offense but there is no fucking way fuyumi could drop a truth bomb like “yea so natsuo honest to god believes that dad killed our brother” and everyone just reacts calmly like bakugou literally doesn’t even blink an eye he’s just like “ah, that explains it” like uh huh ????? y’all just heard ur friend’s brother died and his other brother thinks it was their father WHOM U ALL KNOW TO BE ABUSIVE who murdered him and all u have to say is oh worm? for real? on god? are u FUCKIN with me!!!!!!!!!!!!! no one is allowed to defend horikoshi’s writing lmao i cannot believe that in a world of superpowers, this is the most unrealistic shit to come out of this entire story so far what the hell!!!!

Shop reopens next week so you can still get yourself copy of this lovely zine 💖💖💖
I tried to like “copy” @crabbng ’s style because I love her art so much but then like I ended up doing like Idk? A mashup??? Idk I’m sorry I guess you can call this a tribute to her art? I love you Jacki. That’s all.
cw salt, but the fact that Shouto lets Rei say this:
without explaining the circumstances to Hawks doesn’t sit right with me, especially when we have a previous in-text reference for how Shouto feels about his burns and the real person who’s to blame for it:
and idk, call me pedantic, biased or whatever, but the framing of the scene makes it feel as though the further the story goes on, the more the characters aren’t allowed to have complex and sometimes contradicting emotions towards the abuse they experienced. It’s just as Fuyumi said, “it’s not like I don’t feel the same way Natsu does, but we finally have this chance, you know?”
and that was perfectly fine when it was just Fuyumi’s chosen way to deal with her own feelings. Like, when it was still a decision motivated by a character’s agency. Fuyumi wants a second chance at a normal family. What she wants is not presented as an authorial statement on what everyone else should want. In fact, Shouto and Natsuo want something else entirely. And that was fine.
Until now.
With the shift the story took now, with the whole Todoroki family coming together to stop Dabi,
and with the emphasis on extending a hand to Enji while doing so, it feels less like this is an organic choice that makes sense with the characters’ personal journey of acceptance and of healing, and more like the narrative is forcing them to reconcile because it’s what the story needs in order to keep moving forward down the “saving Touya” path. Like, even admitting that there was good faith on hori’s part, even conceding that they might’ve just called a truce for the time being because they realized they have a second shot at getting their brother back from death…
That good faith falls short of the actual framing.
Cause Hawks asks Shouto that question right after acknowledging that Enji was indeed an abuser. Past tense. As if shedding a few tears suddenly cancels that out. It’s all good now.
And… idk… For it to be a “truce” the narrative still needs to hold him accountable. But it doesn’t. The second Enji vowed to do better, the story declared he was better. Hori can say that the victims don’t have to forgive him all he wants, the truth still stands that the story has already forgiven him
honestly the whole story concept of bnha has been disappointin so far. person is oppressed for their lack of quirk but wants to break through the oppression– just make him not oppressed anymore!!! feels like deku doesnt care about quirkless oppression at all and its just a dumb background so he can be relatable slightly for having not grown up with superpowers
You know what has always struck me as odd? The fact that Toya and Fuyumi have such a small age gap. The manga has confirmed that they were born in the same calendar year, with Toya being born in mid-late January and Fuyumi being born in early December.
Prior to all this being confirmed, many people had assumed Toya was 3 years older than his sister to fit with the "Endeavor waited for each kid to get their quirk before having the next one" narrative, but now we know that Toya was only 10 months old when his sister was born! (We also know that Fuyumi was born partially out of Rei's genuine desire to have more kids so they could support each other).
But still, why have them THAT close together? From a family planning standpoint, probably so the kids would be closer in age and therefore possibly closer emotionally, but how about from a story standpoint?
Well, I believe it was to avoid any misreadings of what exactly got Toya so frustrated regarding his siblings.
Think of it; if Fuyumi had a 3 year age gap between her and Toya, there would probably be people arguing that Toya was simply angry that he was no longer an only child. Any frustration he voiced regarding his siblings could simply be hand waved away by saying "oh, he's just bitter that he has to share his parents' attention".
But by having him and Fuyumi be THAT CLOSE in age, it's physically impossible for Toya to remember a world where he was an only child. In his earliest childhood memories, Fuyumi would always be present, meaning he's literally never known a world where he didn't have a sibling and didn't have to split his parents' attention.
So when, in the future, Toya gets despondent and angry over Natsuo and Shoto's births, we know it's not because he's losing his "only child" status. Toya has never really been an only child. Instead, he reacts that way because he sees the bigger picture and understands that these siblings are different than Fuyumi. They weren't born from a genuine desire to have more kids.
They were born to replace him.
Still laughing at endeavors “disguise”, I see where dabi gets it from
Masters of disguise - Todoroki family edition:
Enji, Rei and Fuyumi are all partial to silly hats, Shouto and Touya both change hair colors and Natsuo’s disguise is that nobody ever gives a shit about him…
love how they never developed shouto outside family trauma to the point only canon trait fanfic authors can given him on ao3 is cold soba
i’m here for the LOV being chaotic dumbass but i think this arc is just more proof that hori has nothing to say about the politics of the world he created and that makes both the values of the protag and the antag extremely fucking dull
Redrawing of the touya portrait for a zine piece im working on, it wont be super visable so i wanted to post it separatly
cant ya see kun’s hair is pink///
you know who else might have pink hair and that’s why Enji might have done FAN SERVICE?
Hmmm I just wanna put it out there that
Who cares if you’re ‘inherently evil’ (which is a concept I don’t believe) or more likely, might have a predisposition to antisocial tendencies? You can still change. You can still modify your behavior. It’s never too late to do better. Sure, maybe there’s stuff you can’t fix, but you can still do better.
spinaraki is so valid bc both those edgy losers need to take off their stupid ass cosplay and relax a little
i love this ask i have NO idea who tomura could possibly be cosplaying. the ghosts of his past trauma??? jdskfkg
