Superstar by Beach House

Genuinely one of their most devastating almost suicidal songs, god.

I consider Superstar to be one of the best songs ever written that taps into the general category of “songs about people no longer in your life for one reason or another”, including breakup songs of course, but the track is more general than that. General, and yet not so non-specific as to have no impact... quite the opposite.

"It may be out of sight, but never out of mind..." this is so deep, so meaningful and so beautiful in its own way. It’s the perfect balance between longing and loss.

The first time I heard this song I cried. it's a very repeatable song, with its steady, driving drumming, powerful hook/refrains… I thing the catch is that you can actually feel the infinite perspective on those first three notes as the music is starting… it’s just perfection.

So I love this track, dearly, needless to say. It's very important to me, it’s helping me to pass through a very big time in my life and turns out, it's one of my favorite Beach House songs ever.

“Blacklit up against the wall” I’m ambivalent about this line, it’s just powerful. and then i thought about what that image means in the context of the song... the person is effectively gone but their light radiates out in every direction…

…and here I am once again devastated.

So I came back to my dear old blog because I wanted to express some thoughts about one song at threads and X but god… 280 characters per tweet? I mean really??? I swear it almost feels like literary terrorism…

Reconnect. Kingdom Hearts So I've decided that before I play 2.8 Final Chapter Prologue, that I was going to go and beat Kingdom Hearts, Chain of memories, II, Re:Chain of memories, 358/2 Days, Birth by Sleep, Re:Coded, 3D: Dream Drop Distance, 1.5 Remix, and 2.5 Remix. During each games, I also plan on unlocking all of the secret endings. This journey will not be easy. But I know I can do this. My only regret is that I didn't do this sooner. #KingdomHearts
