1st of February, 2021
i was debating on whether or not i should post this on tumblr but seeing as there haven’t been posts about this yet, here it is. i’m exposing my real location and nationality but it doesn’t matter.
if you have been active on twitter, you may already know #savemyanmar is trending. long story short, there has been a military coup. several nations have released statements but i want to share insight on what’s happening in the country.
memes about a coup have been circulating around for a couple days and when i slept at 2 am last night, we were still under the rule of the National League for Democracy (NLD). while they are not technically democratic, they are the closest we’ve got. when my mother woke up at 6 this morning, she was notified that the country was now under the rule of the military.
banks services are no longer available. wifi was cut at around 7-8. some people got wifi again earlier but many got it barely thirty minutes ago. this is bad for businesses especially ones that require international communications. additionally, international students like myself are experiencing anxiety; how do we pay for and attend classes if we’re not sure wifi is a given?
myanmar has a long, complicated history with military governments. the last time the military went into rule was in 1962 and only stopped in 2011, following the 2010 elections. there was a huge protest in 1988 lead by students that resulted in lots of death. during the military junta, resources like rice, water, oil, were scarce. the gist is military rule is bad for us.
all of my followers are not myanmar citizens, i’m sure but as part of the international community, please help us. here is a petition that you can sign (although i’m not sure if that can do much). there may be protests in front of myanmar embassies so look out for those. most of all, please help spread awareness.
the people here are coping with dark humor, primarily in the form of memes but we don’t know how long this rule will last, even though the official statement said only a year. here’s something that pretty much sums up our coping mechanism:
again, even a reblog helps

chadwickboseman It is with immeasurable grief that we confirm the passing of Chadwick Boseman.
Chadwick was diagnosed with stage III colon cancer in 2016, and battled with it these last 4 years as it progressed to stage IV.
A true fighter, Chadwick persevered through it all, and brought you many of the films you have come to love so much. From Marshall to Da 5 Bloods, August Wilson’s Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom and several more, all were filmed during and between countless surgeries and chemotherapy.
It was the honor of his career to bring King T’Challa to life in Black Panther. He died in his home, with his wife and family by his side.
The family thanks you for your love and prayers, and asks that you continue to respect their privacy during this difficult time.

I'm up for angst so what about an imagine/(or anything) with dabi finding out his s/o has a life threatening disease that leaves them with like a few days left to live
Ooo I have this idea but idk if you would like it haha ♡ I'll try my best
This is kinda angst and sad, there's mentioning of death and all of that jazz so please dont read if that makes you uncomfy ♡
You're eyes opened to the dark hospital bedroom. Even with the blinds closed the moon somehow still managed to sneak past them and display their nightly rays across the sickly clean and white room.
With shaky and weak hands you wipe the crust from your eyes and lick your dry, cracked lips while scanning your eyes over to see Dabi slumped in a chair.
You're surprised that he was still there. He's been really snappy at the nurses, telling them that they need to be more careful with you. He managed to scare away a few, the last one that would even dare to step into the tense room was an elderly woman with white straight hair that was brushed into a clean neat bun.
Whenever he made a backhanded compliment or a sly remark she would give him the same flavor back. Somehow this settled him down and turn his focus else where to calm down the rising heat in his body.
You had feeling the woman knew who he was. It wasn't really noticeable from a distance becuase of the way he was dressed. But she would catch you staring at him with love in your eyes and vice versa.
She knew that he wouldn't hurt you, it would be pretty fucked up to do so since you only had a few days to live anyhow.
You and Dabi go long back. With your disease it made it hard for people to be around you without feeling uncomfortable or annoyed. You lost your friends as a teen because they felt like you was a stick in the mud when you couldn't do all the stuff they were doing that so easily took your energy from you. Your parents were the same way, you felt like a burden.
Your younger brother always seemed to have an unfiltered hatred towards you. Always felt like you got all of the attention, all of the money, and he was stuck with the scraps.
You remember begging your parents to leave you be and spend time with your brother but they would ignore you. Even though you felt like a burden it also felt like you was the only thing that held them together.
Money problems, family issues, mixed with affairs made your little home a boiling pot of chaotic. The only thing that stopped your parents from fighting and to start working together was when they both agreed to care for you.
You barely managed to graduate high school because of all of the missing days but somehow you did. Soon after your sickness started to eat at you more.. making you bedridden, the doctors told your family you've only had a few weeks, even days to live.
College weren't even an option so why waste money on applying when those dollar bills could go towards a nice sleek casket your mother had her eyes on for a whole.
The sorrows and cries didnt even come, they were ready. Your room became stuffed with flowers in replacement of those who couldn't and wouldnt come. You understood though, why would you want see your sick cousin or niece put a damp on your wonderful weekend. You understood. You would give them calls to thank you for the bears, flowers, and balloons. If they didn't pick up you would message them when you were strong enough to even pick up the phone.
The night you died was the same day as your brother's graduation from middle school to high school. It took you a while but finally you had managed to get your parents to go.
After the goodbyes and waves they finally made it back to the hospital 3 hours later after your death. Your parents phoned were put on silenced so they didn't get the incoming calls of the doctors and nurses.
You were pronounced dead and you think it was for the best. Your parents can move on and finally be happy. Your brother can finally- well sort of get the parents that he has deserves.
Everything was perfect, no more sad faces, no more pain. Just bliss and relaxation.
However that's not how it ended. Your body was lurched forward, your back arched against the table, causing the nurse beside you to scream and drop her clipboard.
Turns out you were dead but somehow your killer disease also healed you. You were still weak of course you wouldn't just waltz out suddenly with the heart and lungs of a runner but at least you weren't dying, for now.
When the hospital called your parents they received no answer. Neighbors came by with clothes and packed bags for you, telling you that if you needed a place to stay then you are welcomed to do so. You were confused but your answers were answered by a voicemail your parents had left the elderly couple.
All was well thought, you spent your time listening to their stories, cooking, and cleaning. You tried to go to community college but decided against it, instead you took up a part time job at a local cafe that pays just enough, not great but you can't complain, your money just went straight to the elderly couple since you really didn't have a need for it.
A couple years have gone by, the value of your neighborhood became less and less as crime and violence became more and more. Villains started to stalk their way amongst the residents of the town, spreading fear and destruction while the hero's tried their best to look out for us little guys.
You remember rushing back home after hearing on the news about an explosion near your house. You dropped the cups that this group of teenagers ordered and dashed out the store.
Sweatt and out of breath, your knees gave out from beneath you, making you crumble to the floor seeing your home crumbled to a pile of rubble and the only people that cared for you, underneath it.
You're not sure how or when it happened but you ignored the dressed up people from a distance who was fighting and crawled over to the hot broken glass and bricks. Your tender soft hands started to dig through the mess, looking for cloth that was still attached to a body. It felt like hours of you trying to yank their bodies from the pile while still I shock. You didnt notice the tears streaming and cleaning your ashy dirty face nor the hand hot hand that gripped your shoulder.
Looking up you see a villain, Dabi. His bright blue eyes look at you in confinement and disgust but morphed to sadness and...and regret when he noticed your state.
Your ears started to ring stopping you from hearing whatever he was trying to tell you. Your body regained its strength and you stood up and shoved the tall male away.
You screamed and cursed at him, blaming him of the death of your loved ones.
"It wasn't us"
Somehow you were able to hear that. It was him? It wasn't us? Who's us? The villains. If it wasn't the villains then could it be the- heros.
You hear him curse out before catching your passed out body as your eyes rolled to the back of your head.
Your head felt fuzzy. Your eyes shut but your senses all intact. You could hear the news on the tv. Like Dabi said the woman was saying how the wonderful Hero's stopped a group of Villains which ended up in a heated fight. The hero's ended up making more of a mess than they should, ending up with a total of twenty deaths but all in the name of protection for the overall safety of our wonderful city.
So he didnt lie.
No, he didn't
And no, he didnt kill you nor let others hurt you
Instead he helped you, let you stayed with him. Eventually with time and trust you guys fell in love, inseparable.
But no, that didnt stop him from becoming a villain and no, that didn't stop you from continuing to work as a waitress as if your lover wasn't a very known and feared man.
You wished you had listened to Dabi when he asked you to stop pushing yourself so much. But...you wanted to save up enough money so the two of you could run away from this feud and start a new life. So any extra hours and quick jobs you could find, you did. While pouring coffee your body suddenly giving out, telling you a ' I told you so' as your world went blank.
And this is how you ended up here. At this hospital for a couple of weeks, with your boyfriend ignoring everyone and only placing his time and energy on you.
You weren't sure how long you was looking at him or him looking at you, but you snap out of your thoughts to see your lover, Dabi staring at you with an unreadable expression.
"Fuck it. We are not spending you last days on this sad fucking word, in a boring ass hospital that smells like medicine and bleach," he abruptly stands up and starts to shove your personal items back in your bag.
"H-huh?" Your voice croaked and cringed at the lick of water.
"I'm getting you out of here" Dabi answers and brushes his thumb against your bottom lip before pulling out your clothes.
He helped you out of your ugly hospital gown and into a pair of leggings and a sweater. After slipping on your shoes and apply chapstick so your lips stop cracking and bleeding, he helped your shakey body up and fling your bag over his shoulder.
You guys made it out of the room and into the abandoned and quiet hallway. You felt Dabi tense as your eyes lock with the nurse's. She looked at Dabi and then at you before turning away and continuing to work on whatever she was doing.
Dabi huffs out happily and continues to guide you out to his car. After opening the door, buckling you in and sliding inside, the two of you started to drive out of the parking lot.
Your eyebrows furrowed when you watch him drive further and further away from your town, from your home.
"Where are we going" you look away from the dark outside scenery and to your boyfriends who's large hands is entangled with yours and his eyes locked on the road.
"I can't stop you from dying on me, but I can make sure your time before that is worth it," his croaky voice says before glancing at you with a soft smile on his face
You dont know where you family is or what they are doing but you hope they are doing well. You know you will meet the elderly couple who taught you so much once more.
And soon, one day, you know that you will be reunited with your lover once more
A/n: ahhh this is my first time writing something angst so please be easy on me haha. I'm not too keen on the ending but I kinda like and I hope you all do too ♡
Busy Tuesday here at Marvel HQ. We’ve got Yankees player Robinson Cano coming by the office, our podcast with Steven Moffat & Benedict Cumberbatch going live shortly and some big news breaking on ABC’s The View.
So what does that have to do with this rad “I’m in Loki’s Army” picture? Nothing. We need no reasons to share some Loki with you guys.
