After he sees Lance enter his room, Keith does as he said he would and starts making his way towards the Bridge to check up on the rest of the team. On his way, he tries his best not to think about Lance too much, he fails at it. After all, what is he supposed to do now that he has realized he most likely likes Lance? Should he tell him? How would he even do that? Before he can even reach a conclusion he runs into Pidge in the corridors.

She beams up at the sight of him. “Just the person I needed! Come with me.” “What’s going on? Did you guys finish what you were doing?” He asks, a little concerned. “Yeah, yeah everything is fine.”  She says while waving her hand in the air and starting to walk again in the opposite direction of the Bridge. “I just need to check on the core room thingy and could use an extra pair of hands.” Keith follows. “What exactly are you guys doing?” “Hunk and Coran had this idea of trying to increase the castle’s maneuverability and speed.” She explains. “Basically, it won’t be able to dodge the small ship’s attacks but maybe it can get away from those canons that take super long to charge.” “Oh… that’s a good idea.” She snickers, looking amused at his reply. “Yeah, a good idea as long it doesn’t accidentally make the castle explode.” He freezes. “Wait what? Are you guys sure we should be-“ “It was just a joke.” She interrupts him, a grin on her face still.

He had forgotten how much Pidge likes to play around, which can be fun at times, but he isn’t in his best mindset to process her jokes. “Very funny.” “Don’t be a baby.” She says while punching him on the shoulder, Keith looks away so she won’t see the smile he is trying to suppress. “By the way…” She sings songs the words. “Speaking of jokes… Allura and I found that earlier talk on the Bridge very amusing. Any more juicy details you have to share?” Ah yes, the talk where they asked about the cuddling incident before giving him permission to leave the castle with Lance… That talk. “No, there isn’t anything else to say.” He replies without really thinking about it. Pidge’s grins drops and she squints at him before looking back ahead in silence. Eventually, they reach their destination, but before Pidge opens the door she turns around to stare at him again. “Are you sure though?” “What?”

“Is there really nothing else to say?” Keith can’t really tell but Pidge sounds sort of sad. “I don’t want to see you hurt Lance.” He is extremely confused at the moment. “Why would I-“ “I know okay?!” She exclaims. Then looking in anywhere but Keith’s direction, she adds in a softer tone, “I know that Lance likes you.” “Wh- how-“ “I don’t think he remembers telling me. It was late at night when we were playing video games because he couldn’t sleep and I was taking a break from working on a new program.” She explains with a shrug. “He was basically high on lack of sleep.” “Oh.” “It’s just-“ She bites her lip and fidgets a bit. “This is embarrassing for me to admit, but I sort of see a little of Matt in him, with that annoying big bro feeling of his. It makes me feel better when Matt is away on missions.” Pidge sighs again. “So yeah… I don’t want to see him getting hurt over-“ “I-“ Keith interrupts unthinkingly and she is already looking at him waiting for him to finish the sentence. “I uhm- “ He can feel the pressure of her gaze as he stares at the ground. “I actually might… like him too.” His voice not above a whisper.

When he doesn’t receive a reply, he slowly looks back up; and sees Pidge smirking, the one smirk he has seen many Galra drones die while looking at it. “So… you two already dating and didn’t bother telling the rest of us?” “No!” He exclaims way faster and louder than intended. “I mean we- we aren’t-  I know he liked me too… at some point… but I don’t know if- I might just- what if he doesn’t like me anymore?” He finally says out loud. Pidge looks at him like he just told her that one plus one equals three without joking. “Keith… I found you two cuddling this morning.” She states. When he opens his mouth she interrupts him, her grin returning. “And you are apparently also sending letters to each other.” “But-“ “Keith who is the smartest person on this team?” He frowns, trying to understand where this came from. “You are.” “Great, so now you’ll listen to my advice and next time you see Lance you will tell him what you told me.” “But I don’t know what-“ “I’m sure Lance will help you with whatever questions you have. He is smarter than he makes himself out to look, I’m sure you know that.”

“How are you so sure about this?” He asks, as he starts fidgeting his thumb against his index. Pidge looks at him with a dead serious look, “I have heard him sing romantic cheesy songs for an hour while also talking about you.” He can’t help but starting to smile at that thought. Pidge scoffs and rolls her eyes. “My god, I can’t believe I thought you could hurt him, you’re just as hopeless as him.” “Shut up.” He says, embarrassed. He hopes he isn’t blushing. “Yeah sure, we have work to do anyway.” Pidge plays with the door panels and it opens. “Oh wait- just one quick last thing.” Keith is apprehensive. “What is it?” “Remember to keep it PG-13 around the rest of us, I support you two but I don’t wanna see-” “Shut up.” He interrupts again, while also wanting to sink into the ground and become one with the floor.

keith and lance teaming up to figure out what’s going on with kuron shiro and at the same time keep an eye on lotor who starts behaving progressively sketchier when his guard is down

keith’s not back with the team yet but he and lance (unbeknownst to the others) video chat every day, keeping each other up to date with the situation; lance sharing his doubts and observations on the castle and keith briefing lance on the info he’s managed to gather during his missions

lance: this is such a huge mess

keith: yeah, it is

lance: i wish i’d noticed something sooner -

keith, with the trademark soft look he reserves specifically for lance: hey. you can’t blame yourself for this, okay? you’re already doing more than enough. we’ll fix this. the two of us…we’ll figure something out. you’ll see

lance with a watery smile: thanks keith

keith also smiling: anytime sharpshooter

lance smiling fondly before he gasps remembering his new weapon: oh, so you haven’t heard?? ;)

when they finally meet in secret to find haggar’s whereabouts (like at this point they already have their doubts that she stands behind whatever’s wrong with shiro) their reunion is teary and tender and they don’t want to break away from their hug for a long while 

they share red.

since they keep their plans and meetings a secret from everyone so as not to raise suspicions they don’t exactly have a lot of leisure time, but keith’s been excited to see lance’s sword since he mentioned it and he insists they practice together a little. 

lance, to keith’s surprise, is sort of shy and reserved at first but it’s obvious he’s been practicing and for a beginner his skills are really impressive 

they get together amidst missions and late night calls and everything comes to a head with a close call involving shiro’s clone and lotor’s inevitable betrayal

hunk, once the battle is over: there’s just one thing i don’t get though. how did keith just know that we’d need backup and - 

keith running into lance’s arms the second his lion’s mouth opens: lance! are you alright?  

lance hugging him back equally tightly and only pulling back to press a lingering kiss to keith’s forehead: yeah.. i am now.

hunk: ah. nevermind.

lance: “what’s your problem man??” keith: “my problem!?!?”

lance: ”yeah!!!!” keith: “my problem is that i can’t even look at you without this weird fluttery feeling in my stomach, my face warms up, my knees go weak, and i want to be close to you, i wanna protect you, i wanna- i wanna kiss you and-” lance passing out:

lance: “we gotta keep it a secret from the team” keith sitting in his lap, unable to stop smiling: “ok” lance: “we should *kiss* try and *kiss* throw them off” keith grinning sappily: 

shiro: “oh hey guys wh……why are you in his lap” keith pretending to throttle lance: “WE’RE FIGHTING” lance screaming: “KILL ME! KILL ME YOU COWARD!!!!!”

they keep up a game of the longest they can kiss in public without being caught

shiro walking ahead: “nice work today team” lance pushing keith against the wall and muffling his giggle with rapid-fire kisses: 

they pretend to drop their forks at the table so they can bend down and kiss

hunk: “hey. isn’t that alien girl hot?” lance: “i suppose. i guess. maybe. to some” 

hunk: “go ask her out” keith bristling:

lance: “or i could ask her why misogyny and poor scientific technique prevented the remains of amelia earheart being found for almost 80 years at great personal cost to society and the people who cared for her”

keith lying on the couch: “hey” lance: “what’s up??” keith playing with lance’s hoodie-strings: “i’m not good with words but- i really like you. like really really” lance kissing his nose, eyes softening: “you’re my whole universe keith” 

coran poking his head over the couch while they scream: “oh??? are we quiznakking????”

allura cornering keith in the hallway: “why have i seen you coming out of lance’s room at 6am?” keith: “i- why are you up at 6am” allura: “it is fairly common knowledge on this forsaken ship that i wake up at 5am to dance to my german pop choreography” 

pidge: “hey did i just see you put your arm around keith’s waist or do i need new glasses” lance: “you can’t grow or see it seems”

shiro: “what’s that bruise on your neck?? you ok?” keith smiling: “it’s nothing” shiro, glassy-eyed fish stare as it all clicks into place: 

allura: “why didn’t you guys tell us?!” shiro: “you didn’t have to keep it a secret!!!!” pidge: “can someone please make them stop eating each other’s faces right on the dining table”

hunk, popping gum in the background: “a secret? tch. hunky hunk realised on the very first day” pidge: “that’s unfair” hunk: “take a fuckin sip babes”

You guys are lucky I have like, a mega list of these lol.

Lance sleeps like a corpse.

It was something he sort of trained himself to do, mostly because the first time he tried using a face mask at night it got everywhere and his mother nearly skinned him alive

so yeah, he’s a log, and will tend to stay in one place on the bed from dusk to dawn

Keith on the other hand, tosses and turns like the rugrat he is

He’ll wake up with his sheets halfway off the bed and his pillows thrown across the room wondering why he has a huge kink in his neck.

oh yeah, because he slept with it hanging over the edge of the bed (-_-)

Needless to say their first night sleeping in the same bed starts off great, with Lance relishing in having Keith curl up into his side like a little koala, and they both fall asleep fairly easily

but then Keith happens.

Lance wakes up in the middle of the night wondering groggily why Keith’s fucking foot is on the pillow and where the hell is his other half?!

And, Oh there it is. On the floor. 

Like seriously Keith how is that even comfortable you human slinky.

so Lance hoists him back up, shifts so that Keith is on the inside of the bed facing the wall, and wraps his limbs around the boy to keep him secure

It works, for the most part, but Lance wakes up the next morning without any feeling whatsoever in his arms and legs

he doesn’t mind too much though, because goddamn Keith is really cute in the morning

Plus Keith feels super bad about waking Lance up and sort of..coddles Lance all day afterwards.

so yeah, Lance doesn’t mind at all.

Keith is really good a naming smells

Like…scary good

The team will be walking around on some weird ass planet and Keith will just, without batting an eye, drop a line like:

the air smells like wet cotton candy mixed with spit.

And the others can’t even be mad because what the fuck it actually does?! 

It’s like his superpower or something, and there has yet to be an odour Keith can’t name, or at least relate to something else

K: Lance your hair smells like pine tree sap and wet dirt

L: …is that a good thing?

K: yeah.

L: Oh! Okay then!

Shiro is actually the one that asks him to stop the most

mostly because he grew up with this shit and so many things have been ruined for him

like, one time Keith said his hair gel smelled like freshly opened packaged meat, and he’s never recovered

Keith is also hella good with kids

No one really knows why, but youngsters just flock towards him

Hunk calls him the Pied Piper of Children and it would be cute if it wasn’t so goddamn true

Every planet they visit that has kids on it immediately run up to Keith, or else hold his hand or cling to his legs.

he’s just as confused as the others because I’m not even fun! I just stand here!

Lance was super jealous at first, because I have the siblings, so I should be the one who these children worship. and I’m more experienced, why do they love Keith?!

It must be the mullet.

But after they start dating Lance just finds it adorable, and has to stifle a part of him that really wants kids of his own one day each time he sees Keith bend to pick up a young’un

The others tease him relentlessly whenever they see him watching Keith interact with babies. 

Lance you’re making the face again

L: What face?

The ‘I’m so madly in love with Keith’ face

L: I’m not!

He is.

Lance speaks Spanish around the castle

At first it was just for fun, singing lyrics and what not

but after having a reoccurring nightmare about never seeing his family again, he sort of does it now to try and keep his language alive

The other’s don’t really know why Lance has suddenly started speaking strictly in Spanish to Blue, but don’t question it

Keith does, because he’s curious, and Lance tells him the reason behind it

After that Keith makes an effort to learn some Spanish phrases that he surprises Lance 

Lance cries.

He denies it, but he did.

Keith comforted him, and there was a lot of cuddling involved.

Lance’s favourite colour, despite popular belief, is not actually blue

It’s grey

Like the colour of thunderstorms and rain

Or waves as they lap the beach when it’s overcast out

Or Keith’s eyes in certain lighting…

Not many people know this, except Hunk and Keith, simply because it’s not something he tends to share

But Keith makes a point of beginning to collect pictures of storms and oceans from Earth specialty shops whenever they visit alien malls 

Lance keeps them all pinned up by his headboard, where he’ll sit and stare at them on days when he’s feeling extra gloomy about missing Earth

And if Keith’s with him, he’ll turn off the light and just gaze into his eyes, watching as they shift from a dark indigo to a heavy grey as the shadows play with his irises

That usually doesn’t last long though, since they end up making out, both thinking god why is he so attractive! as they let their lips do the talking
