The death toll in Italy is slowly decreasing, like the number of those who are hospitalized in intensive care units. Things are getting a little bit better, but there are still many deaths and infected people.
Yesterday, Italy's Prime Minister said that from May 4th the country will start the second phase. But that doesn't mean we'll end the quarantine and be free. Some people will be able to go back to work.
I was supposed to do my final exam this year, but some things changed. I didn't expect that.
I was supposed to do many great things this year. I was supposed to go to a concert, have my finals, go to London with my best friend. I was supposed to visit some universities this month.
This quarantine taught me how to be more self conscious and especially how we shouldn't take everything for granted, cause everything could change in just one day.
What seemed to be so impossible and far from me (when the virus was still in China) became the worst nightmare. I was the first one who thought "it's never gonna get here, it's just a flu, it's not the end of the world". But this pandemic really messed up everything.
This pandemic, this quarantine, made us keep distance from our relatives and our friends. It's been 2 months since I last saw my bff and I miss her so much.
Yesterday I went for a walk with my grandmother (now we can, just if we wear a face mask) and it was so strange. I left my house for the first time after 2 months.
But I know this will be over someday. And I hope everyone, sooner or later, will realize how serious this situation is.
What the Italian Prime Minister said: We will reopen cautiously and with responsibility.
What Italians understood: ALL FREEEEEE!!!!!!
And I noticed something strange on Internet. If you share an opinion and you are a male, it's ok. If you write the same thing and you are a female, they have the urge to correct you and making you feeling sorry/shut up.
Listen, if performing femininity is an “empowering choice,” then it needs to be an actual choice. Meaning that woman can opt out of it without negative consequence. Meaning a woman can go to an academic event without heels or in a simple suit and still be “professional.” Meaning that a woman can go to a job interview without a full face of makeup and not be “tired” or “disheveled.” Meaning that a woman can walk around in shorts with unshaven legs and not be a dirty, unclean gremlin. Meaning that a little girl can play and break barriers and like STEM while wearing jeans and a t-shirt and not be considered less empowered or “just trying to be a boy.”
Meaning that a woman’s femininity and womanhood is not contingent upon the extent to which she buys and performs a time-consuming, expensive, uncomfortable mold of a very specific type of packaged femininity.
This isn’t even going into the effect these double standards have on women who in some way, by their very existence, do not fit the standard white western beauty mold and are expected to perform hyperfemininity to be “women” at all. I.e. women of colour esp. darker-skinned women of colour, hijabi women and tznius-keeping women, fat women, disabled women, trans women, etc.
Like OP said. A dystopian/horror movie... and I thought the Family Day was the worst thing alive, lol. The only thing left to me is staying positive and focusing on other things.
I've purposely avoided horror fiction in these days of pandemic because, you know, anxiety. However I feel the need to read horror is building up; for some reason, horror and sci-fi proved the best forms of escapism. I think it's because horror is very engrossing while sci-fi is about faraway galaxies so it does a great job taking you away from your sad current situation.
I'm still worried about the effects of reading horror on my psyche, especially because I'm pretty sure I'm repressing my feelings. I'm apparently ok but tonight I had my second quarantine dream and I woke up crying, which is something I don't remember ever happening before.
Ecco.
Italiani se domani fatte bordello e non rispettate le norme di sicurezza vi spacco il deretano
I'm sorry America. We in Italy are trying our best, but for 2nd phase there is a shortage of tampons, and this is concerning.
Celebrities are saying things like, “young or poor, black or white, rich or not, we all have to play our part” from their luxurious Beverly Hills homes. The irony. Most people with symptoms aren’t even able to get tested but these big names with big money are despite being asymptotic. That is all you need to know about America.

So beautiful. With everyone on lockdown, pizzas are finally returning to their natural habitat. The earth is healing, we are the virus. 🙏
Fourth day of quarantine in Italy: italians dancing and singing to macarena in their balconies
We take photos as a return ticket to a moment otherwise gone.

Life under quarantine: two friends have lunch together [Marche, Italy].

Boars in the middle of cities, ducks in the fountains of Rome, Venice canals have now clean water full of fishes, swans and dolphins have returned. Air pollution dropped. Nature is reclaiming its spaces during quarantine in Italy. 😊

Cool situation we’re getting into here
There’s not even any reason to fire an employee over wearing a facemask. This is purely just making an ideological position that’s gonna get people killed
If only 100% of the workers decided not to return to work. Business can’t run w/out employees. Sadly, since a 1x payment of 1200 really doesn’t help anyone, ppl are forced to put themselves and their loved ones in danger to put food on the table. Wonderful country we live in.
I don't understand. Isn't the character 10? 10 years old can make a lot of mistakes and then learn from them. children imitate other people. A sentence like "no one needs help" doesn't come from a child naturally. I think he heard it from someone else (maybe he was bullied or from some science magazine).... I think. And someone really evil comes to apologize to an egg?
Was looking around the tv tropes page for Journeys and it's kinda sad how biased against Gou it reads. The kid makes a mistake one that the anime clearly sees it as a mistake and something he has to work on but for some he is a monster that abuses his pokemon
I just skimmed it, and…wow.
It’s not as bad as I was expecting, but it definitely has shades of demonizing him for struggling with empathy.
Let me make this clear: HAVING LOW EMPATHY DOES NOT MEAN YOU ARE A BAD PERSON.
Empathy is not the same thing as compassion.
Empathy is not the same thing as sympathy.
Empathy is the ability to put yourselves in others’ shoes and understand the viewpoints/emotions.
God, can’t they just admit they hate neurodivergent people and go?
Well... I think I see myself in Gou a lot? I watched every episode at once (lol) and he grew a lot, from "we shouldn't help a bulbasaur" to helping Cubone to apologizing to an egg. I still couldn't understand the concept of "low empathy" but being able to understand he was wrong and changing, try to understand others couldn't bee seen as learning empathy?

I'm trying to take astronomy lessons during quarantine, again. But I can't focus (like always) lol.
