the commodification of friendship is the most annoying thing to come out of the internet in ages. like actually i love to break this to you but you're supposed to help your friends move even if it's hard work. or stay up with them when they're sad even if you're gonna lose sleep. you're supposed to listen to their fears and sorrows even if it means your own mind takes on a little bit of that weight. that's how you know that you care. they will drive you to the airport and then you will make them soup when they're sick. you're supposed to make small sacrifices for them and they are supposed to do that for you. and there's actually gonna be rough patches for both of you where the balance will be uneven and you will still be friends and it will not be unhealthy and they will not be abusive. life is not meant to be an endless prioritization of our own comfort if it was we would literally never get anywhere ever. jesus.
the curse is lifted! you are no a beast no more! congratulations! but you'll never forget the way they looked at you, will you.

Last song 🎧: I really love End of the Line by Traveling Wilburys lately, so I've been listening to that one a lot! (Thanks to the Sonic 3 movie for sticking it in my mind lol)
Favorite Color 🎨 : Purple (specifically light purple)!
Last Book 📕: I've been reading The Way of the Fearless Writer by Beth Kempton (I got it from the library)! It has some really good principles in it, and I've been enjoying it, even though I don't fully agree with the author's philosophy
Last Movie 🍿: Howl's Moving Castle!
Last TV show 📺 : I hadn't realized that it had been so long since I had watched a TV series, I had to go back in my journal app to see that it was September when I binge-watched some episodes of The Addams Family
Sweet/Spicy/flavory 🍔 : I like sweet and savory, and I think I can go one way or the other depending on my mood, but I don't like spicy!
Current obsession 🌀 : I've been having a lot of fun playing through Sonic Frontiers!
Last thing I searched 🔎 : I'm not sure honestly, haha!
Looking forward to 👀 : Hmm... I would say scrapbooking with a good friend next week! We have made a goal to get together at the end of every month this year and make a scrapbook spread for the month, so I'm hopeful we will get to finish our goal!

here’s what I learned in 2024, having been chronically, painfully ill most of the year:
it’s not bad to have New Year’s Resolutions. I myself have a bunch. however.
if you’re feeling like the only way out of your current situation is to scrabble and struggle desperately and Try Harder and Try Harder, that will only get you so far.
you have built-in limitations and there are powers & circumstances outside your sphere of control which will foil your plans.
but do you know Whose plans are never foiled? do you know Who is the power outside all spheres?
I have learned when I ask God to “help me get everything done that I need to get done today,” to make sure I am asking for what I really need to get done, and not what I think I need to get done.
I always get done what I needed to get done that day according to God’s will. even when that turns out to be nothing but praying that I will.
don’t burn yourself out depending on your own scrappy willpower to get somewhere or achieve something. and don’t waste energy despairing about your limitations. God has already decreed the direction in which your life will go, and how quickly it will go there. He knows what you truly need and will provide it without fail.
Here are two more paintings that I made as Christmas presents! I painted sunflowers on a wooden tray, and I did a little mountain scene on a magnet-backed canvas. 💖

Me, drawing Sonic fanart in 2024? It's more likely than you'd think! I used to draw quite a lot of Sonic fanart back in the day... way back in the day! I have recently been hit with a resurgence of Shadow love. A character whose main themes are grief, loss and redemption? Of course I love him!
