One of the neatest bits of trivia I’ve been able to find about Little Shop of Horrors is the story behind the dog from Somewhere That’s Green, the stuffed one and the real one.

So during the original run of Little Shop, Ellen Greene met the puppeteer for Audrey II, Martin P. Robinson. He worked as a puppeteer on Sesame Street, most notably for Mr. Snuffleupagus. They started dating and somewhere around this time, she also got a cocker spaniel that she named Snuffy after the character he played.

Now that alone is really cool but there’s even more to it.

When she was filming the Little Shop movie, she wasn’t able to see her dog as much anymore due to the fact that they were filming in England and she lived in New York. Knowing this, the director, Frank Oz, gave her a stuffed animal that looked just like her dog to cheer her up. That same stuffed dog ended up making it into the film and an actual cocker spaniel (not Snuffy, a different dog) was also brought in to play Audrey’s dog in her fantasy.

Rating the Broadway BMC soundtrack based on how fun it is to/ if you can do the macarena dance to it (literally no one asked for this 😭)

I made this cuz' me and my cast mates at my school will frequently do the macarena dance to songs while in the wings/or backstage (sometimes even while ON stage) . I've never been in a production of Be More Chill but I'm just judging based off experience and cuz I tested them 😭 (Yes, I did the macarena to all of these. My back hurts now but it was worth it for science). (Also, it's generally more fun to macarena to fast songs when your joking around backstage so yeah. That affected my rating too.) (Idk I was bored and sad and this came to mind so enjoy, I guess)

2/10 there’s a little bit of macarena ability in the middle but eh, not really

More Than Survive

9/10 pretty good. Very fast macarena but fun. And it’s honestly fun to do it during the slower parts like the Christine part. And Michael’s Bob Marley part works pretty well with it. Jeremy’s slow part near the end does not work for it 😭. But regardless, it’s pretty good

I Love Play Rehearsal

4/10 some parts have a steady beat enough to do it but there’s a lot of tempo changes and pauses so you can’t do it that consistently. The parts that you could macarena to, though, were fun, so yeah.

More Than Survive Reprise

6/10 Honestly I was surprised by this one. It worked more than I thought it would 😭. Pretty steady 4/4 time signature (I think, idk Im not a professional). Some pauses, but if you keep macarena-ing, it pretty much works.

SQUIP Song

 4/10 Fast to slow to fast macarena. I guess the original macarena is pretty slow anyways but I’m so used to doing it fast backstage, that I can’t imagine it would be the first dance to come to my head if the SQUIP song was on.

Two-Player Game

5/10 Ehh, I had high expectations for this one but it was kinda boring to do the macarena to 😭. But, I mean, it has a generally steady beat except for that slow part at the end. So yeah, it works but it’s not that entertaining

Be More Chill Part 1

3/10 Went from okay, to “no, this sucks”, and then it was pretty fun to macarena during the first part of “I saw it in the window…” but then it got bad again. So generally…not good.

6/10 Not too bad. Definitely not fun in the beginning cuz it’s too slow. But once it picks up, it works pretty well. The hip shimmy at the end of each macarena “set” (idk man 😭) goes well with this song actually. Made me giggle.

Be More Chill Part 2

5/10 Absolutely not in the beginning. But once things pick up, it’s alright. Kind of a snooze fest to do the macarena to cuz it’s kinda slow but it’s alright. Hurt me not to shimmy my shoulders during “You Wi-i-i-i-i-i-iL”.

Sync Up

6/10 Honestly, sorta fun 😭. Beat is pretty consistent and high energy. Also, it makes me realize that the songs with the “More Than Survive” like, motif, work pretty well for a fun, fast macarena 😭. Nothing too crazy but yeah. It’s good. (Side Note: I’m getting only slightly burned out by macarena-ing at this point)

Guy That I’d Kinda Be Into

6/10  Generally consistent except for the end. It’s fun. Again, nothing too crazy. Though, I would wanna see a version of this song where the ensemble is doing the macarena after I’ve tried it 😭.

1.5/10 Very slow Macarena in the beginning. And then the rest you just…can’t. Like at all.

4/10 Okay, I love this song so much but no 😭. Doesn’t work that much. I mean, you can at some parts but it’s not that enjoyable, I’d say. Other parts, you can’t do it at all or it has to be really, really slow.

6.8/10 Okay, this one, surprisingly, brought up my energy after macarena-ing to all these other damn songs. Like, it’s too slow at some parts but when it picks up, it’s lowkey kinda funny to do it and I could 100% imagine me and my castmates doing a dramatic macarena to this (There’s something about the sadder songs that are just more fun to do the macarena to idk).

Halloween

8.5/10 (I’m not gonna count the slow instrumental part in the beginning of this one cuz, like, it just transitions into, like, a whole completely different song so that doesn’t seem fair to include it.) Really fun. Could imagine myself macarena-ing on stage if I had the opportunity to. Especially during the dance break. I’m not surprised one of the big group dance number song works for this( when I did Beauty and the Beast, we would macarena so much as a joke during  “Be Our Guest”, that our director let Lumiere do it during the improv parts. This reminded me of that 😭😭).

Do You Wanna Hang

0.5/10 I sighed at the beginning of this one. Idk, I guess technically yeah you could, but it wouldn’t be consistent or fun. Especially considering the subject matter. Couldn’t imagine my castmates macarena-ing to this at all. It’s getting slightly higher than “The SQUIP Enters” cuz it’s an actual song but that is the only reason.

Michael in the Bathroom

(I did the Two Rivers one cuz I like that one better and I’m pretty sure the BPM is the same so yeah. idk. The rest are all broadway again.)

 10/10 Okay, wow. Next time I have a depressive episode, I am doing the macarena to “Michael in the Bathroom”. Like, oh my gosh, this was (weirdly) so f*cking fun 😭. Especially during the “Knock, knock..” part and the “I’m just Michael who’s a loner..” part. The slow parts aren’t too hard to do if you have good rhythm but yeah. As I said before, the sadder songs are really fun to macarena to. I could imagine me and my castmates doing the macarena to this. This song was weirdly cathartic to do this to. Was so fun I did it twice. 10/10. Would recommend it.

Guy That I’d Kinda Be Into (Reprise)

4/10 Again, I love this song but eh, not really. You sorta can, but it’s slow and you’d probably stop it after only a couple seconds. I could imagine me and my castmates doing the macarena to it, but, like I said, it wouldn’t last long without people getting bored.

The Smartphone Hour

5.5/10 Again, I had higher hopes for this one but it was just alright. Worked pretty well after the “Here we go!” part and was fun to do fast in the beginning, but there’s a fair amount of tempo changes or interruptions or pauses so you get tired/ bored easily. At least for me. I really love this song but ehhh… not for doing the macarena to. Idk. I’m losing my mind at this point.

The Pants Song

5/10 Too slow in the beginning to macarena😭And then when it picks up it feels a little too fast. Slightly overwhelming. Lowkey gave me anxiety to keep up. Idk

Pitiful Children

4/10 At the beginning I was like “oooo this works!” but then I got bored and also got a back cramp while doing it 😭😭. Idk. It’s alright. It’s repetitive, which I guess is how it should be for the macarena but, for me, the most fun part of doing the backstage macarena is having to adjust to the tempo just a little at times but not too much where it’s annoying or basically impossible. Hard to keep the energy up after a bit. This bored me eventually.

The Play

2.7/10 There is so much chaos going on during this 😭 Like, it’s fifty different reprises at once, I swear. Christine’s part is pretty fun and goofy to do it to, but everything else is mostly dialogue. I wanted to give it more points cuz Christine is in it but that didn’t seem fair so yeah.

Voices in My Head

5.8/10 I mean, ya know, it works for a majority of this song. Even some parts where Jeremy and Christine are talking. Gets a little too slow at one part. And then it’s way too fast to do the macarena at the end😭. So yeahhh. It’s a trip idk.

shower. not a bath, a shower. use water as hot or cold as u like. u dont even need to wash. just get in under the water and let it run over you for a while. sit on the floor if you gotta.

moisturize everything. use whatever lotion u like. unscented? dollar store lotion? fancy ass 48 hour lotion that makes u smell like a field of wildflowers? use whatever you want, and use it all over. 

put on clean, comfortable clothes. 

put on ur favorite underwear. cute black lacy panties? those ridiculous boxers u bought last christmas with candy cane hearts on the butt? put em on.

drink cold water. use ice. if u want, add some mint or lemon for an extra boost.

clean something. doesn’t have to be anything big. organize one drawer of ur desk. wash five dirty dishes. do a load of laundry. scrub the bathroom sink. 

blast music. listen to something upbeat and dancey and loud, something that’s got lots of energy. sing to it, dance to it, even if you suck at both.

make food. don’t just grab a granola bar to munch. take the time and make food. even if it’s ramen. add something special to it, like a hard boiled egg or some veggies. prepare food, it tastes way better, and you’ll feel like you accomplished something. 

make something. write a short story or a poem, draw a picture, color a picture, fold origami, crochet or knit, sculpt something out of clay, anything artistic. even if you don’t think you’re good at it.

go outside. take a walk. sit in the grass. look at the clouds. smell flowers. put your hands in the dirt and feel the soil against your skin.

call someone. call a loved one, a friend, a family member, call a chat service if you have no one else to call. talk to a stranger on the street. have a conversation and listen to someone’s voice. if you can’t, text or email or whatever, just have some social interaction with another person. even if you don’t say much, listen to them.

cuddle your pets if you have them/can cuddle them. take pictures of them. talk to them. tell them how u feel, about your favorite movie, a new game coming out.

In the days leading up to graduation, Michael avoids Christine. He’s never been great at identifying his own emotions, but he’s in the midst of one, and it’s a bitch. It’s like, when Christine is away, he wants her there, but when she’s there, he’ll start thinking how wonderful she is, and then his throat will tighten, and a pain will start behind his eyes. It sucks ass.

“You think it’s because she’s going to a different college than us?” Jeremy asks one night. He’s sleeping over at Michael’s house, and they’re in the middle of one of those late night heart to hearts, where Michael is high enough to tell Jeremy worrying secrets, like how the the presence of Christine suddenly makes him physically ill.

“I support her in that,” Michael insists. “NYU is her dream. I’m not an asshole.”

“I’m not saying you are. I’m just saying you’re probably freaking out ‘cause you’re going to miss her. Like, how many friends have you had the experience of missing?”

You Michael doesn’t say. Jeremy knows that the Squip incident was hard for Michael, and there’s no need to dredge that up. It’s true that Jeremy was the only friend Michael ever had prior to that, and he doesn’t have a lot of experience with saying goodbye to people he cares about. One good thing about Jeremy abandoning Michael was that since Michael could’ve never anticipated that happening, he hadn’t had time to dread it before it started.

(At least he hadn’t had time to really dread it. There had maybe been this fear of in the back of his mind that Jeremy could leave him someday, but it’d been easy to shake off as unrealistic, like the fear of his airplane crashing when he visited his grandma in the Philippines)

Even so…

“I’m morally opposed to making a big deal of her leaving,” Michael says. “I’m not that big of a dick.”

“Yeah, but you’ve got to admit that it’s getting to you,” Jeremy says, like he’s wise, which he isn’t. “I know what you’re like. You’ll act like nothing’s happening, then all of a sudden it’ll be too much, and you’ll have a breakdown or something.”

Michael rolls his eyes. Jeremy is the last person to get to lecture others about breakdowns.

“You should find a way to tell her,” Jeremy continues. “Y’know, about how you want her to be happy, but you also want her to stay in touch. She’s a big part of our lives!”

“That’s like saying she has to keep in touch.”

“It’s like keeping the door open. Or you could just keep ignoring her. Your choice.”

Michael doesn’t answer. He thinks of how Jeremy used to make weird noises and run off whenever Christine looked in his direction. He thinks of how scared Jeremy was to start things. Michael’s not like that. He didn’t start things because he wasn’t interested, and he’s not interested in ending them either. He’s hella excited to start college, but the little triumvirate he, Christine, and Jeremy have formed complicates things. Michael is bad at navigating relationships at the best of times. How is he supposed to make sense of one that’s rapidly changing?

Middleborough High hosts something called Project Graduation for the graduating seniors. After they receive their degrees (and pose for a million pictures with friends and relatives), they’re all loaded into a bus for a night of Good Clean Fun™. It’s the school’s way of making sure they don’t celebrate the end of their high school career by getting hammered and causing trouble. It’s the opposite of cool, but everybody goes, ‘cause it’ll be their last night together.

The school rents out the Palace Playland theme park for the entire night, ending at five AM, and sets them loose to ride all the rides, play all the games, and eat all the junky carnival food. Until a while past midnight, that’s what Michael does, always accompanied by Jeremy and Christine, but also by the other members of the Squip Squad. It’s fun, and it’s weird. It’s like after a year and a half of being in the same friend group as Chloe Valentine and yet incredibly unsure of her, she’s screaming in the seat in front of Michael on Splash Mountain and in that moment he loves her a little. It’s like he can watch Rich losing at one of those ring toss games, and for the first time ever, he can’t even find a trace of the kid who used to bully him. Michael’s friends are his friends, and he’s so lucky to have had them.

Much as Michael likes the amusement park ambiance, there’s only so much he can take in one go. That’s a thing with him. Voices are loud. Lights are bright. Things that are the funnest ever for four hours can get grating after five, and near unbearable after six.

Jeremy knows.

So does Christine.

“Let’s take a walk,” Christine suggests, so the three of them do. They weave their way through the rides and the food and the games, Christine’s hand in Michael’s, and Jeremy holding on to his shoulder. They find a grassy area a little behind the kiddy rides, which is mostly uninhabited, since high schoolers generally aren’t in the market for the teacups and choo choo trains when there are rollercoasters to conquered.

They sit down.

For a long time they don’t say anything. Michael leans back against a tree, and watches the ferris wheel lights from this new, safe distance. Jeremy leans back into Michael’s lap, and Christine leans back into Jeremy’s, and Michael revels in how good it can feel to be buried, at least when it means being buried by the best people he knows.

His favorite people.

And just like that, the thing starts with Michael’s throat, and then he has to take off his glasses and rub his eyes, ‘cause they’re getting into the act too.

Maybe Jeremy’s right. Maybe Michael should analyze what’s going on, and tell Christine before it’s too late. Maybe he should be all like ’yo, Christine, no big deal but I’m terrified that you won’t be a part of my life anymore after tonight, and terrified of how much it’s gonna hurt to lose you’.

Christine beats him to the punch.

“You two know I love you, right?” she says.

“We love you back,” says Jeremy. He elbows Michael, who can only nod.

“I’ll miss you so much,” she continues.

“Can we…” Michael swallows. He thinks he knows what he wants to say. It’s not even all that melodramatic or sappy! It’s just hard.

“Can we…?” Christine repeats.

Michael has to clear his throat. “I think I want a plan. For how we’re gonna keep in touch. Like a day. Jeremy and me are gonna room together, but you’re going to be in New York, and we should decide what day we’re gonna Skype, and whether or not we’re going to meet up over winter break, or if we’re never going to meet up again, because if this is it I need some time to get used to it.”

Christine turns to face Michael, frowning as though she’s a little perplexed. “Of course we’re going to meet up again.”

Where? Michael doesn’t say. When he doesn’t say either. He tries to smile. He’s not proud of the way the corners of his mouth keep turning downward of their own accord, no matter how hard he tries to make them behave.

Christine turns away. “We’ll Skype on Tuesdays,” she says. She wipes her eyes. “We’ll meet up the first day of winter break that we’re all back. And if you guys cry, I’m going to cry too.”

“I wouldn’t dream of crying,” says Michael, more than a little tearfully.

“We’re not going to cry,” Christine agrees. “You know why?”

“Why?” asks Michael.

“Because I’ve got cotton candy in my purse, and we’re going to eat that instead.”

Jeremy snorts out a surprised laugh, and Michael laughs, and Christine pulls the cotton candy out of her bag, brandishing it like it’s a flag. They don’t say anything more about the changes to come, but at least they’re together for now.

Roses are red, that much is true, but violets are purple, not fucking blue.

my bmc au’s that are very, very closely linked to minecraft

for that anon who asked some time ago

a little context to these: i love minecraft fan content. roleplays, fanfics, alternate forms of gameplay, the like. and, of course, bmc is severely lacking minecraft content, so i decided to remedy that just a bit with these seven au’s !

(please note: the endgame for every one of these is meremine, whether romantic or qpr. the other ships i’m not particularly picky on, but do keep in mind that that is the shipping context on those three. another thing of note is that jenna is aroace, and i tend to lean on making characters aro, just because i want to. they’re all tight-knit, too, since i as an aro person desperately want them to be found family-esque. this “shippy” aspect is not up for discussion in any way)

of course, a collection of minecraft au’s wouldn’t be complete without the ever-standard “they met online through a video game” au. i’ve got… quite a bit latched onto this au, honestly.

michael runs a faction, whereas jeremy plays on factions without one just raiding and doing whatever. jeremy and christine do a lot on creative, roleplaying their hearts out. and i feel the whole trio plays skyblock. i really like skyblock. it can’t be helped.

the squip only appears momentarily in this au as a griefer. they’re banned from minecraft forever for their crimes.

the whole squad eventually makes a town together. i forget what i decided the name was but it’s funky and they have a blast !! towny is… a delight.

jake is a server staff member and mr. reyes owns the server ! jake enjoys some creative roleplay and he’s probably in michael’s faction.

eventually they do all meet up ! first they meet in their little mini groupings but they also definitely have a big old get-together where they’re like hello fellow minecrafters !!!

it’s honestly been a while since i’ve talked about this au, which is a shame, because it’s great fun ! i adore it.

the next au, one of my all-time fave au’s, is based loosely on the pixel trapped series by ash schmidt.

i call it the earthcraft au, because the premise is that the worlds of minecraft and earth were once one world called earthcraft, but have since split.

jeremy, michael, rich, thomas (rich’s brother), jenna, and chloe live in minecraft, while christine, dustin, jake, brooke, and madeline live on earth. squip is an evil wizard with an extended lifespan who lives in minecraft, but doesn’t particularly interact with the squad outside of pulling them into different worlds or sending monsters that have been drained of personal magic after them.

eventually, squip gets shoved into the void, earthcraft is reformed (although…. it does have a bit of a split where all the people i don’t want on earthcraft get to rot on a dying world), and the kids are reunited with their parents- except for jake and the goranskis, whose parents can rot in hell.

this one is based off of the minecraft diaries roleplay series by aphmau ! i was a huge fan in middle school, and i’m quite fond of the premise and such. it might have some narrative decisions i disliked, but it was a good story, in my opinion.

so, jeremy wakes up in the middle of the woods, outside a village. he has…. no memory, of anything. in the village, he meets michael and christine, two guards who are glad he wants to join the village and help out.

the village’s lord recently died, so they’re trying to find a replacement while rebelling against a neighboring evil ruler that wants more territory who happens to be michael’s brother (he has two)- squip.

there’s also the whole shadow knights thing, which i don’t feel like getting into right now, and also the thing where jeremy and his associates are literally godly beings.

(whether it be that they’re the latest reincarnation…. or they wiped their memories recently in the hopes of not having to suffer as their closest friends died and reincarnated and died again…. the usual)

this next one is a joyous adventure in learning ! it’s based on the wonder quest series by stampylongnose, just the first season, really.

jeremy and christine are an adventuring duo on the search for cake ! just when they manage to find some, though, they fall into the world of wonderburg- a wonderful (hehe) town full of curiosity….. usually.

however, their sense of wonder has been stolen by a heinous wizard named squip, who desperately wants to be found funny ! his brother, another wizard named michael, has summoned the pair to help him track down the pieces of the wonder cube- a magical gem that provides wonderberg with its everlasting wonder- that squip broke.

there’s many shenanigans, as squip tries to send his henchmen rich and jake after them- but they mostly just mess around,- and lots of learning ! it all comes to a close with squip realizing they can just subject themself to physical pain for laughs… which is, at the end of the day, all they really wanted.

(i feel i should clarify: the reason they haven’t found another way to be funny is because they literally do not understand jokes. they just want people to laugh at their jokes. they do not care what it takes to get those laughs. if getting blasted with fireballs repeatedly gets laughs, they’re down for it.)

this au is also one of my all-time faves !! it’s based on the fairytale fallout roleplay series by bbpaws and dangthatsalongname !!

(tw for: implications of/references to abuse, mentions of cannibalism, kidnapping, all particularly with children as the victims)

so, christine and michael are two friends that are trying to play some minigames in the multiverse of minecraft worlds, but when they try to jump through the portal into the lobby, they instead wind up in the world of misthaven. while trying to figure where they are and what’s going on, the duo stumbles across a tower in the middle of the woods.

this tower is home to none other than jeremy heere, a kid with a really, really long scarf that he knit as a replacement for the lengthy hair he’s chopped off. he sends michael and christine on a quest for enough dyes to change his scarf to rainbow, and in return he gives them a painting and joins them on their adventure.

as it turns out, misthaven has been cursed by a witch (note the pattern) so that all the fairytale characters who live there no longer have their happy endings. the town has also been left in ruin.

however, michael and christine were prophesied to arrive and save the land with the aid of jeremy so… now they’re doing that. and what better way to fight evil magic than to help out its very victims ?

(rich and his brother are the witch’s henchmen, but extremely unwillingly and only to the extent that they carry out her orders while also making it so they’re essentially nonfunctional. the witch is rich’s squip and her brother is the mother gothel to jeremy’s rapunzel- and also jeremy’s squip.)

this one’s a skyblock au ! i love them funky islands in the sky. basically, the whole squad lives in a skyblock version of the minecraft worlds, in a hub of islands. it’s pretty simple, but it’s nice. jeremy, michael, and christine are on a set of islands that are right next to each other, so they coordinate island expansion.

this last one is a crack au. it’s based off this one post by @/rockflavors, i believe, where minecraft diamonds are declared to have the taste of mountain dew baja blast. please, just… go with it.

naturally, i decided this meant jeremy could and would eat a minecraft diamond as an alternative to drinking mountain dew, given the chance. so, in this universe, minecraft is extra popular ! rock candy for minecraft diamonds that’s made with mountain dew baja blast exists.

squip is activated Extra Chill™, fully decked out in vacation gear and a minecraft diamond shovel ! upgrade probably features jeremy eating a second diamond to upgrade the shovel into a sword.

the most important parts of this au are the kickoff and the party: the halloween party where everyone dresses up as minecraft mobs. and michael…… dresses up as a dolphin. the plan is to seduce jeremy into listening to him. i haven’t actually thought about the showdown, so whether it works….. is up for debate.

to be frank with you, i have no idea how this one works out. it’s weird and i really don’t think about it all too much, but it is fun, too.

so that….. is the summation of my au’s. i tried to not drown you in too much information, ‘cause god knows i could. if you want to hear more about a specific one (not the crack au, though, since that one is mostly a throwaway i had fun brainstorming the basis of and not much more), you could hit me up in dms ? or send an ask. though, keep in mind, i prefer dms because i don’t really like building posts about my au’s. it makes me feel a lot more exposed.

“did you know mr. heere caused the squip incident of 2004?” “no way??? mr. heere wore his pants backwards last week there’s no way he had a squip” “maybe that’s why they don’t make them anymore.”

everyone knows “mr. heere” as the school’s cryptid. too damn tall. his wife is an actress, or is his HUSBAND a game designer??? he talks to himself sometimes. he’s got mountain dew varieties in the first aid kit in his office.

“one time mr. heere just grabbed open circuitry. I don’t know.” <- he’s immune to electricity post-squip

he has a group of ten children who follow him around like lost ducklings

he runs the performance art club (he’s got a hands-off club running approach. He runs it solely so that they’re able to meet every week, because the club can’t exist without a teacher or counselor)

christine stops by it sometimes and the kids are like IS THAT CHRISTINE CANIGULA??? THE FAMOUS ACTRESS??? WAIT SHES YOUR WIFE???

all the kids are swarming her for pictures and autographs and she’s like “jeremy your kids have great taste in musicals”

btw he is married to both christine and michael in this. he wears two rings, one for each of them.

“mr. heere, you sometimes say wife, and sometimes say husband, uh… um… is your partner non-binary?” “oh! sell, uh, you see, christine is, they’re my wife, but my husband is michael, he’s a different person, I’m uh—“ “mr. heere is a player!” “n-no, guys, I’m polyamorous.”

one day the kids mention an indie fighting co-op game and jeremy is like “oh wow that finally came out? my husband worked on it a few years ago.” and the kids are BEGGING him to bring his husband in. as if his husband is a toy for show-and-tell.
