Yet stay locked and afraid, hidden from the world
It’s looking out at the night sky after a long night of writing and watching the stars pass by overhead, as I cherish my existence and ability to observe such a beautiful universe. It’s wishing I could share this moment with someone, but content to let the night sky wash over me alone.
What is this place between hopeless romantic and strong independent individual
We just gotta be patient...
Well then, I suppose it’s up to us to explore these places, and observe the sunrise ourselves!

The light I shine illuminates the meadow, tinted blue
The wind sweeps your hair briskly
You look up, at this celestial thing
Pockmarked with time, the scars of past troubles
And think to yourself, inside yourself, where I cannot see
Do you wonder at my light, keeping you out of the dark and away from the trees?
Or do you realize that this light is not my own, but borrowed
From my fiery brother, who sleeps under the horizon
And that I merely reflect, imitate
His brighter, lighter warmth and touch
I cannot warm you, as you shiver in the cold
I cannot show off every contour of your face
I cannot reveal the hues of the flowers you hold, in the blue tinted meadow
I worry that this is what you think
With those deep eyes, as wide as the starry sky
I worry that I am not enough
Cannot be enough
Compared to the others around me
Perhaps I am wrong; you may not see that at all
But as long as I think of this, and think of you
No matter how much I may love you
I am as far away, and hard to reach
As the moon
For those who don’t know, recently a bunch of phosphine gas was detected in the atmosphere of Venus. What makes this such a big deal is that phosphine is an organic gas. Of course, certain phenomena like lightning or geological processes could make it, but this is a very rare and difficult thing to do. Now, it may be too soon to tell, but this could mean there’s at the very least some sort of microbial life! We’ve spent so much time looking at Mars and its ancient watery history, that we never even considered Venus as a possible environment for extraterrestrial life. This discovery, should it be validated, would completely alter our way of thinking how life looks, even more so than possible life on Mars.
Just a cool thing I wanted to share. 2020 may be an... interesting year, but maybe, just maybe, there could be silver lining to all this chaos.
I agree! Considering solar radiation, hiding inside of lava tubes is probably the best place to put colonies/bases.
underground planetary bases would be really cool!
Well, that’s a relief! I was worried there for a second.
Wow! Thanks for tagging me, though I’m not sure why, @aaaaaaawhatisausername

Don’t mind me. Just letting out a little scream
Beautiful. Absolutely stunning.
Very true. But is that such a bad thing? Maybe I want to be lost.
I, too, remember that feeling. You are caught between all that was and all that must be. You feel lost.
— Haruki Murakami, Hard-Boiled Wonderland And The End Of The World.
Sorry, I’ve been trying to figure out life. I’m actually in a pretty good head space, for once. I hope everyone who sees this has a good day. I found music I like, a book I enjoy, and I might just be figuring out how relationships work.
Or maybe not, we’ll see. Being lost in the universe isn’t necessarily a bad thing, but I’d like to see how things go. I’ll look to the sky for inspiration, and hope the stars align just right. 🌌
Why though
We can’t just expect the universe to make things easier for ourselves. There’s no satisfaction in getting things handed to us on a silver platter. The universe isn’t infinite in order to limit us. It’s to give something to work towards.
Sometimes I like screaming into the void. I don’t usually get to let my emotions out very often, so it’s nice sometimes to know there’s a dispassionate universe that doesn’t care if I yell into it. I wouldn’t call myself depressed, (in fact I’m generally very optimistic about things) but I can be prone to bouts of sadness just like anyone else. I’ll be better eventually, but until then...
It’s nice to be be lost in the void. ✨🌑✨
There are a few things in life so beautiful they hurt; swimming in the ocean while it rains, reading alone in empty libraries, the sea of stars that appear when you’re miles away from the neon lights of the city, bars after 2am, walking in the wilderness, all the phases of the moon, the things we do not know about the universe.. and you.
Beau Taplin (via qvotable)
Not that I have any friends to hang out, anyway.
The inevitability of death and my inescapable mortality, as well as the infinite vastness of the universe and my consequent insignificance.
Also spending too much time on Tumblr.
What keeps you awake at night?
Everyone looks up at the night sky and go “Oh look at all the pretty stars!” and “It sure is beautiful” and all the usual phrases. And I’m not saying there’s anything wrong with that; they’re right, it is beautiful
But what about the details? What about the things they can’t see, masked by the intense glare of the universe’s light bulbs? Stars take all the credit, sprinkling the sky with light, but what about the planets that orbit them? No one ever talks about the planets, that no one sees or cares about because they’re so busy looking at the stars. Millions of planets, each one unique and different from every other planet, hurtling through space at a breakneck speed. Some are ice cold and barren, some are boiling hot, some are giant balls of gas pretending to be suns, and some might even have just the right conditions for life. Who knows?
Everyone looks up at the night sky and praises the stars for their light. But who remembers the planets, hiding in the shadows, being different from everyone else?
If you’re upset or depressed that everyone around you is hogging the spotlight, don’t worry. All those famous people? They’re bright and beautiful and interesting, sure. But they’re all the same. Stars aren’t as varied as the planets. Each planet has a different story, different appearance, different climate. It’s the people in the shadows, hidden in the crowd and by their anonymity, that are really, truly unique. Those are the people I’m interested in learning about.
