Eren was running late, as usual. He kept his head down as he crossed the busy intersection. He had left so many moments, opportunities, pass him by. Today was the day, he wasn’t going to chicken out this time. He was going to tell her today. He had kept it inside for as long as he had known her, he wasn’t typically this bad but. She was just so pretty, now he understood that Kirstein idiot’s fears a little at least. What would he do if he ran out of time? What if she had a boyfriend? What if something happened, she was sick all the time and. No. it was going to be fine. His brisk walk became a jog, he figured he better run, no point in missing the entire class after all. He rushed across the intersection, not paying attention. The tires squealed and the driver started yelling at him, Eren grumbled an apology and kept running. He finally made it to class, his close call made him think. What if this was my last day of his life? He was going to live like it, today he was going to ask that sweet, amazing, beautiful, girl to be his and only his. And he did, and she said yes. Eren was in a daze the rest of the day, she said yes. She was going on a date, with him. The bell rang and as seventeen year old Eren Jaeger walked home from school, the one lesson he had taught himself slipped his mind. The world was going to try to stab you whenever it could. And today it finally got him. He heard the shot and felt the concrete meet his face as he fell to the sidewalk. The he heard more shots before the world went dark, and cold.

Jean is also part of the organization, and is a shifter as well. 

However, he doesn't like to transform because he feels as if he isn't in control of his titan form just yet. He was initially supposed to help with the mission to destroy Wall Rose but backed out after meeting Marco out of fear of hurting him. 

He has the mentality of a leader because his father is a high ranking official within the organization and his whole life is based around filling his role when he grows up. He fears he is a terrible leader however and often wonders if he is even cut out for it. 

Jean is never seen anywhere near the walls when it is attacked, he also doesn't react the same way everyone else does upon discovering the identities of the other shifters. He seems more agitated and annoyed than angry or betrayed, as if he's pissed they managed to mess up the mission. His reaction to Annie crystallizing herself made me start to wonder.
