SCREW BIG AGRICULTURE

I fully believe everyone needs to be aware of this, it’s not common knowledge but it’s important.

Running a farm is HARD, and I know not everyone is capable of it, but you can still be supporting small farms especially now, when big agriculture is trying to get control of all of our food supply, which is BAD.

Farmers used to be able to reuse seed year after year, the benefits of this include saving money and it’s not genetically modified and the food is completely fine. However, this is not longer viable because now the new law is that you have to go and buy gmo seeds year after year and plant those and if you don’t do that, an inspector will go around and check and if you don’t have those seeds they will literally sue you and your farm. This makes NO sense. That is also why there’s this huge push right now for going vegan, specifically with soybeans, although your body struggles to break down the ingredients in those foods.

None of this is natural and it’s becoming a huge issue because looking at the food supply you’ll notice that it’s extremely expensive to get anything organic when it literally comes out of the dirt and everything is just becoming more and more genetically modified and we NEED now more than ever to start supporting small farms and co ops and places where it’s accessible to get actually good food because that round up and the gmo processed foods it just stays in your body and it’s not good for us.

Please share, it’s important to bring awareness to the recent laws and how they’re changing and how paying attention to them now can benefit us in the future.

Homesteading tips!

Homesteading is rough and a lot of labour, but there is a lot of rewards that come from it, so here are some tips that can help you start and make it through.

Be realistic. Adapt to your place rather than adapt it to you. Start small and learn what best grows where you are.

Use what you have. Be resourceful. You don’t have to spend thousands or put yourself in debt in order to start. Selling some of what you get - eggs, for example, can help make your home life more sustainable. With that said, it can help to lower initial expense until you start generating a more disposable income - I recommend attempting to save by utilizing cold water rather than hot, taking advantage of solar energy and cutting down on non-necessities such as TV or AC. Look into using a clothesline to save energy and money and you can even make your own soap!

Be patient. When you first start out, it’s not going to look the same it does in your head, and that’s ok! Your hard work will pay off in time. It’s a slow process that requires patience, and this lifestyle is often unpredictable!

START A COMPOST ASAP! You can even begin a compost in an apartment building in your kitchen. Coffee grounds go great in them as well! Familiarize yourself with what can and cannot be composted before starting.

Freeze your eggs and build your own nesting boxes and brooding boxes if you have chickens. A great way to build nesting boxes is cutting up old buckets and filling them! Make sure to predator-proof always.

Speaking of animals, if you plan on keeping goats I recommend an electric fence if you can manage it. Goats need strong fences.

Begin making the most of weeds! You can use nettle to feed animals (and people) and dandelion has many uses as well.

Keep yourself prepared for emergencies like power outages!

Consider making your own drip irrigation system.

Educate yourself on the plants you are keeping and how to look out for plant disease.

Learn how to create and sharpen your own tools!

Learning how to dehydrate food and plants is important for preservation.

Prepare for winter ahead of time!

I Learnt Recently That A Lot Of Women Have Not Heard Of Mastitis.

I learnt recently that a lot of women have not heard of mastitis.

I figured it could be nice to just share a little bit about my experiences. I had it twice with my first born which I was told ment I would likely get it again.

Mastitis starts due a blocked milk duct or nipple which makes you boob turn into a red hot rock! Causes a lot of pain and you feel like flu hit you you faster than ever before, fever and all the aches and pains in your joints.

Unfortunately the only way to unblock is to keep on working very hard to get the milk out of your incredibly sore breast. Heat is amazing to help you soften the hard lumps and massaging as you either breastfeed or pump. I used hot water bottles, showers and had Antibiotics are normally given if you get mastitis. I did actually use cabbage leaves the coolness was lovely and it actually helped with pain in my nipple and helped with engogment.

A few reasons can cause mastitis from misshapen milk ducts, pumping and not getting all the milk out each time and also engorgment. (Breast tissue overfills with milk)

Hats of to the women that just keep on going with breastfeeding, I have stopped but...my boys are happy and healthy so if you ever need/want to stop breastfeeding don’t beat yourself up!

Holding hands with the Moon

I once held hands with the Moon. In the dark of the star riddled sky. His touch smooth and cooling, His skin pale as pearl.

I once held hand with the Moon. Resting upon His crescent, hovering above the sea. His eyes clear as the ocean and as beautiful as the brightest sapphire.

I once held hands with the Moon. Cradled in the softness of His glow. His light kinder than the Sun’s. He knows all my secrets and loves me still.

I once held hands with the Moon. I have fallen in love with Him. Each night His smile graces the skies. And my heart sings at His presence.

I once held hands with the Moon. His gentle caress lulls me to sleep. I mourn when His sister rises. As I miss my celestial prince.

I once held hands with the Moon. I have given my heart away to Him. And every night I await His return, To see my shining prince hanging in the sky once more.

China is a major base of cheaper production for multinational companies which means China’s lockdown has effected many companies negatively. What did they expect? Maybe China no longer wants to give all of its resources and labour for cheap to the rest of the world.

It is baffling to me that abortion, a practice that has been around since ancient times, is today still being argued.

Not everybody is fit to raise or even carry a child. Abortion is a right.

MORE FAMILIES PLANTING A POTAGER GARDEN

Fruits, vegetables, and both medicinal and edible herbs are grown together with the main incentive to feed the family. A Potager Garden translates to "For The Soup Pot". These traditional kitchen gardens date back to France nearly a thousand years ago when it was common for people to grow their own food and medicine.

Being both beautiful and practical, it is well suited for small yards. The design structure uses both accessible bed space, as well as being close to the home. The idea is that you can step into your garden, with bare toes to grab dinner's ingredients or throw the last of the dish water on the compost.

If you plan to grow a Potager garden, instead of arranging your beds in a grid, consider using the space for both beauty and function. Some beds are vertical, while others are horizontal. Use the fence line as a trellis, or a hot spot for dwarf fruit trees. However you design it, take some time to figure out the best use of your space. Keep your pathways tight, enough to fit a wheelbarrow, and consider how the sun will move in your garden. Knowing where the sun hits first is great for heat loving vegetables.

Make sure to plan a focal piece in the center of your garden. A small bird bath, or pool is both beautiful and helpful for pollinator insects needing a drink. Instead of planting herbs in one area, consider planting a bit everywhere especially on difficult to grow spaces, like the edges of beds.

Dwarf fruit trees make sense when you have a small amount of land and don't want to pick fruit on a ladder. You can plant multiple dwarf varieties and get a really great harvest in a short period of time using less space. Not only do they function perfectly in the kitchen garden, they are beautiful as well.

Both medicinal and edible herbs can be grown in the Potager garden. I like comfrey, lemon balm, mint, and onions at the base of all the fruit trees. Plant creeping thyme in your walkways for an aromatic effect.

It makes sense to grow many useful herbs that can help the process of healing. Calendula, chickweed, and plantain are excellent for the skin. They can be combined to make healing salves. Lemon balm tea calms the nervous system and comfrey makes a skin poultice. Make sure to plant your favorite herbs you love to cook with.

A truly nourishing meal is cooked using ingredients that I have grown. The recipes that are inspired by a seasonal garden can be life changing. I have come know that oregano, roasted eggplant and oil combined is one of the very best parts about summer. And basil at the base of tomatoes is for both ease of harvest and for the aroma of the greenhouse. So when you plan a potager, most of all, grow things you love and eat.

Successive harvests and year-round eating from the garden sounds seemingly simple. Yet it is a skill we have lost. We can all re-learn these old skills through our efforts. Over time we learn the seeds and when to plant them. It becomes intuitive as we move along.

A part of traditional gardening is putting back into the earth whatever we took. Taking care of the soil, we compost. We try to keep bare soil to the minimum. Where there are no plants, instead of weeding, we mulch or add a ground cover. We are able to grow food without chemical fertilizer.

The biggest teaching that the Potager garden teaches us is that what we consume into our body is more than just through the mouth. We feed ourselves through our eyes, our noses, and our touch. These senses are just as necessary as taste. In the Potager garden, we can grow for all senses.

If voting changed a goddamn thing, it would be illegal. The electoral college chooses the president, not the popular vote. It's almost purely cosmetic no matter what your government teacher tells you. If you tell me to vote, or worse, shame me into voting, fuck you

Praying has helped me in life when I am at my lowest.

It is important to give back if you wish to receive through prayer. If you do not give, you cannot have a relationship with who you pray to.

Finding ways you can be close with the gods is important. For me it's singing hymns. Find your own way, or even use another person's idea. The important thing is that a gift is freely given. Recognizing them as forces in the world. What ever you do, it should be passionate and meaningful for you personally. That's what makes it a good offering.

To associate religions/mythology which have nothing to do with Christianity with it is close minded and will only prevent you from truly learning about said religion/mythology.

There does not always have to be an equivalent to a singular god, a hell or heaven concept, or Bible. Do not let Christianity replace and infiltrate your own personal spirituality.

It is important to discover your own spirituality, path and religion for yourself in the way(s) that work and resonate with you, not the way(s) that you have been told are right. It is important to ask yourself “why do I pray?”, “what does this mean to me?” If you do not know the purpose of your own spirituality and beliefs, are they truly meaningful? Or are you going off of what you think is correct based on what others are doing? It is important to truly find yourself in order to find happiness and your connection with and to this world outside of popular culture and what everyone else is doing.

The modern world is greedy, never satisfied and more harmful than helpful to spirituality and a person’s connection to the world around them and Mother Earth than it is helpful. The average person in average society is not connected to themselves or to nature, they are connected to the Christian church which is only thinly veiled as not being connected to the state (it is). It is important to separate yourself from the values of modern society, from the virus that has been Christianity in suffocating any values that do not align with their own. I admit to still finding my way myself some days, but to never stop committing myself to learning, loyalty and honesty with myself and with others. Values which become increasingly rare.

Quick reminder that American * need to shut the fuck up.

Lord stop making every conflict about you

Y’all are so divorced from reality you act as if every single thing affect y’all first

Ukrainiens are dying and all you can do is wonder about your ass.

I’m just …. Tired of American always being in the narrative. Hearing them talk you’d think that they stopped WWII by them self. Dude, the resistance wouldn’t have stopped if y’all had failed. You wouldn’t have been able to step foot on France if not for the French resistance helping you. And you didn’t even enter the conflict till it cause you trouble.

The soldiers from the colonies where fucking braver than any of you, cause they where fighting for a country that fuck them over.

Just stop

It’s not about you

It’s about them

It’s not even about us European. ( I’m talking about the coalition things plus England there)

It’s about Ukraine and it’s innocent, terrified people.

It’s about the innocent Russian civilians protesting against their corrupt government

Both of them are braver than any US marine.

It’s not about you

So shut the fuck up.

* I’m talking about the American without any tie to ukraine

If there’s one lesson I’ve learned as I enter year four of my foray into farming, it’s that lambs love to be born during the darkest hours of the coldest nights in the most inconvenient way possible. But we still love them, ‘cause they are the sweetest creatures around.
