Tim Drake is a mermaid.

Well, sort of, kinda, unbeknownst to him or his parents.

It all comes to light when he’s going through some of his mother’s belongings that had been packed away after her death, trying to find something that would remind him of her. He was beginning to forgot her face, her voice, the way the said his name, or even if she said, “I love you.”

His mother is dead. His father is dead. He just needed something tangible to prove she was there.

Carefully packed away he find a ruby necklace it’s a simple golden chain and pendant the he recognizes from one of the Wayne’s galas, the way it refracted the light and made her eyes glow.

He takes it out of the box and it’s almost unnaturally cool to the touch which isn’t even the weirdest part. When he takes it in his palm, something just sort of shifts in him, like the pieces of a puzzle slipped into place and he just feels whole. If he didn’t know any better, he would say there was a flash of golden light, but that just had to be a trick of the light… right?

That night, on patrol, Tim is shot and takes a plunge into the harbor.

There wasn’t enough time to slip in his rebreather and the floatation device in his utility belt won’t inflate and he’s drowning.

Down and down and he can’t breathe until he just… can…?

This time there really is a flash of gold and tattoos cover his skin, curling and swirling down his arms and chest.

Scales replace skin, he grows webbed fingers, and honest to god gills. And that’s not even the weirdest part. Not, there’s a tail. He. Has. A. Tail. His legs fuse into a deep red, almost black tail.

That’s when Dick, as Nightwing, swoops in and drags him to the surface. Tim too deep in shock to fight it.

When they get to the surface and all parties involved realize what’s happened Tim is like: “Wtf?”

And Dick is like: “Wtf?”

And Batman just shakes his head because now he has to call Arthur.

In true H2O: Just Add Water fashion, when he dries, the tail and gills go away leaving him with the tattoos that fade into what looks like regular ink.

As it turns out the necklace is an Atlantean artifact that ignited some long-lost Atlantean heritage in Tim thought to be long since died out.

Arthur is smug, Bruce wants to punch him, and Tim has garnered the nickname Fishboy (a la Jason Todd).

I think Jon is a very intense version of Superman. He’s a kid given this big responsibility and almost no control on his very extreme emotions. I think he can get a bit erratic, I think he’s worn out his goodwill faster than Clark ever did or will. I also think Damian is more of a shining light in Gotham than Bruce ever was because Damian demonstrates change. He knows the city is hopeless but he also thinks it’s worth it because he changed. He knows how the blood on his hands felt and how it felt when he washed it off.

This is why when I like the demon Jon and angel Damian motif better than the inverse.

Jason: I had to take Damian to visit Talia at the league!

Tim: AND YOU ENDED UP IN RA’S BEDROOM?

Jason: every time I go there I put an assortment of miscellaneous vegetables in his bedding to convince him he’s going insane.

Jason: it’s the only thing that makes escourting the kid back and forth worth it.

Damian, twelve, Tim and Jason’s designated driver of the evening: I swear mother has assigned you to me like some sort of service dog, Todd.

Jason, nodding: or personal uber.

Tim: come to think of it I have seen you lay your head on him whenever you think he’s anxious-

Jason: HE SAYS IT HELPS-!

Damian: -fucking stay out of it, Drake!

I have this idea that each of the Batfam were given nicknames alongside their actual vigilante names by civilians that they do use every now and then. It's either a bird or a type of bat.

Bruce/Batman is obviously just called 'the Bat', probably it SHOULD'VE gone to a more specific species later, but yeah. By the time the Batlings showed up it kind of...... well, it just stuck and stayed.

Dick/Nightwing at first was only called Robin, but as he grew older, they named him 'the Owl' for his silence even in the air. And when some learned that there were evil owl masked assassins (Talons from the Court of Owls) the name became also a rebellion against them, they liked Nightwing better. He's a silent hunter, agile in fight, and idk Owl just fits him. 

 Jason/Red Hood literally died and came back, so they named him 'the Phoenix'. Also for his fiery nature and how he allegedly (to the civilians) died in an explosion, but came back from the black ground like a phoenix is said to rise from the ashes. 

Cass/Black Bat was named 'the Noctule', after the Greater Noctule Bat, since it just fit and also Noctule bats are known to even hunt small birds and THEREFORE are in the same league as them, lining up with how Cass is just as, if not more, dangerous as her siblings. 

I also toyed around with calling her Kite after the Black Kite, but she's Bat vibe more than Bird vibe, (even tho in my view all the Birds are still Batlike) so.... yeah. 

For Steph/Spoiler, I decided on 'the Magpie'. Magpies are smart, mischievous, and have a habit of spoiling things for others.

I toyed around a bit with Wren, since that could also work for her, but magpies are corvids and corvids are more Gotham, so I chose Magpie.  

Tim/Red Robin would get 'the Crow', both for his darker appearance as Robin and Red Robin than the previous two, the calls he lets out sometimes (In some of my AUs) and idk I just came up with it and it unsettlingly fit. So Tim is the Crow. He's smarter than expected and a bit smaller than normal but he can fight, so he is the Crow. 

Duke/Signal would get 'the Sunbird'. I checked. There's a bird called the Sunbird. It's way too obvious as to why i call him that so yeah.

He's also called the Day Bat. Cause to me, he's in direct equilibrium to the Bat and Bird thing. All the others lean more towards one side or another, but he's directly 50/50 to me, that's his vibe. So Signal is 'Day Bat' and 'the Sunbird'. 

 Damian/Robin gets 'the Swift', for the fact that he's small but deadly and fast, and it just fits him idk. Swifts are like..... idk the vibe and all fits. Robin gets the Swift.  

Damian: I haven't been able to sleep since I got here. Every time I close my eyes, I can hear something crawling in the walls. Tim, who's been using forgotten passageways to avoid Alfred enforcing his bedrest orders: Damn, that's crazy

I like to think he was on a mission, fell down the mountain right to the water, right in front of the monkeys, and now they think he's a weird type of monkey. Poor weird monkey, all alone, they decide to take him in. Besides, he has food!

Damian panics because those nuts are all he has and they're eating them way too fast. He thinks they'll attack him the moment they're over, but they're actually very nice.

He's starting to feel dizzy when Bruce arrives and, well...

Bruce gave them lots of yummy food and took Damian while they were eating.

Best mission ever.

Happy Valentine’s Day ~

14 February! Except is not 14, but 13 because I'm too impatient to wait.

So, uh, happy pre-valentine's day???

Damian is an animal person, and I like to think that he has pets of all kinds. Including illegal ones and legal ones.

He probably has gone to his father more than once to get him to get a permit for a pet.

Damian, walking over to Bruce at that point in the day when he agrees with anything: Father?

Bruce, exhausted™: Yes Damian?

Damian two weeks later walking into the manor with a pet ferret in hand: Father, I’ve named him Jason. Do you like him?

Bruce remembering that ferrets are illegal to own in New Jersey without a permit: He’s lovely… how did you.. get him?

Damian: You signed the paper two weeks ago

Bruce who doesn’t remember that but knows he definitely signed something: oh… okay

Bruce dropped out of medical school and as much as he tries to hide it, his kids all find out. Ofcourse they never let him live it down after that

Do you think Damian knows just how wanted he was?

Does he know how excited Bruce and Talia were to be parents? To have a baby? They were married and in love and they were going to be a family. They were happy.

Does he know how heartbroken Bruce was when he thought Talia lost the baby? Their baby. Their little prince.

When someone tells him that his dad chose to have his brothers but got stuck with him, I want him to be able to say "No. My Baba wanted me so much from the day he found out Mama was pregnant."

I hope he does. I hope Bruce tells him. I hope Talia reminds him.
