Swifties are literally declaring WAR, and likening themselves to soldiers going to battle… because Taylor’s new album got some bad reviews.

Also, on a side note… these people are fucking delusional if they think the general public is on their side.

Taylor Swift irresponsibly polluting the planet for absolutely no reason absolutely sucks. Her fanbase defends her like no tomorrow and they are borderline if not outright crazy about her. By no means do I consider her the best singer-songwriter of all time, nor will I ever.

That being said, and I am truly sorry to admit this, a few of her songs slap.

Agreed. I really wanted her to say something coz she of all people know the impact online harassment can have on a person's mental health considering she faced it herself at a point in her life. So her silence on the whole thing sort of ruined her for me.

Is it just me or the songs on The Tortured Poets Department sound the same? It's like they all blend together at some point....at first listen there is not one song stuck in my head. And this is coming from someone who genuinely enjoys her music ...Red is one of my faves. You could swap the songs from Midnights and TTPD and I wouldn't be able to tell. I think she should start working with a new producer. Although I stopped being a fan since the breakup, I was still looking forward to new music .... I was excited for what new sound she would explore but it was disappointing to hear the same old repetitive Jack Antonoff synth pop genre.

She probably needs a break .... all this hyper production in the past few years with so many albums and their multiple versions must have had an impact on her creativity and quality...also a lot of lyrics are just......eh I don't know the right words, but she can do better for an artist of her magnitude and caliber.

Also, I feel like the aesthetic for the album does not match the music...like the dark academia/old books thing doesn't really go with the songs for me. Again, they sound a lot like something from Midnights due to the production so probably that's why I feel like that.

Another thing, the album seems to be mostly about the 1975 dude, but the marketing pointed to Joe Alwyn which led to him being harassed by her fans and she did nothing. That was horrible of her. It's these kinds of things that led me to leave that fandom. Even Ariana put out a statement when she released her new album.

Overall, I expected a better album from her. She really needs to take a break. The overexposure and overproduction are not looking good.

@defendingts you missed the whole point it seems. Which other celeb as popular as TS has spoken for Palestine? Even performative activism can bring attention to the issue. Also, there's no comparison possible of "who's the best activist" because TS is not doing any activism at all. She does not have to but her choosing not to, given the power and wealth she currently has definitely tells something about her as a person.

You and I could scream about the issue and accuse each other all day long but the truth remains that people like us can never have the impact TS would, should she choose to.

And before you come at me, I only talk about her because I used to be a huge fan and love her music, so it hurts to see someone I used to look up to behave like this.

I swear I find it so annoying when ppl are like 'you can't expect Taylor not to write about her exes, she always has and all songwriters do. She's the only who gets called out blah blah blah'. It's not about the song writing on it's on. If she wrote about Joe and then never said anything or even gave one interview on what the album was about then left it then whatever. But it's the whole production, the Easter eggs for her fans, the digs through the album title, announcing the break up on her new racist boo's birthday, the getting her friends to mass unfollow, allowing them to shade Joe online, trying to act like Joe wouldn't let her out the front door when etc. she doesn't write these albums to express herself or to process relationships, she writes them for revenge and to try and harass her exes.

i think (while on the topic of taylor swift and criticism towards her), if we're to look a little closer to what makes taylor swift so successful, especially as someone who used to be an avid fan back in her early teens (i regret nothing), is her mediocrity. and i mean this in the nicest way possible: she's good, but not good enough to threaten an industry. she's outspoken, but only when it looks good on her. she's conveniently white, able-bodied and conventionally beautiful enough to claim all the privileges while sitting on a throne of female empowerment - without really doing anything to threaten the status quo or promote said empowerment.

because threatening the status quo would inevitably mean addressing her own power and how she, as a billionaire, benefits so greatly from white feminism. it's a parade of rainbows and confetti until she has to speak up. until she has to do something that might cause controversy, that might make her lose audience, fans, or $$$.

on the topic of her talents and all - it's the same thing. she has the kind of content that hits you strong enough for you to give her the credit for some quite good lyrics (re: all too well, the entirety of folklore and evermore), but it's all still digestible. it's palatable. it does not question, it doesn't bring any issues or topics we haven't seen before in art or music. it makes you feel, but it doesn't build anything up.

and dare i say, the people who are doing it, who are bringing some sort of revolution and/or a new perspective into music are the exact types of people she tends to have beef or an issue with. she cannot perceive any threats in the slightest, especially from other female artists. how many of them has she truly collaborated with in a way where she wasn't the main event? think about it. just think about it, for once.

see the thing abt taylor swift stalking private jet lawsuit is that i thought she loaned her private jet to other people which is why her carbon emissions were so high. so how could a twt bot using public data to document the goings of her jet even help a potential stalker trying to find her location?? its not like that account publishes who is aboard. unless she lied to save face and everytime that dumbass jet flies shes on it 🤨🤨

I love Taylor Swift's music, but I need to say this.

Midnights DID NOT deserve AOTY.

I haven't even heard the other nominated albums but the first time I listened to Midnights I knew it wasn't AOTY material. Just compare it with her other AOTY wins and you'll know what I'm talking about. Like there was nothing new or revolutionary about the album itself music wise.....it broke a lot of records and had good marketing and everything but the songs and production and lyricism itself were subpar compared to Swift's other albums even non-Grammy ones. How she got nominated in that category let alone won is beyond me...for I'm sure there were other deserving albums out there .......Midnights just wasn't it

Had no idea that TIME Person of the Year was a popularity contest.... Coz no way Taylor Swift deserves that with all that's going on and all that's happened this year
