my art art artists on tumblr traditional art doodle art notes eyes ended up being most of the focus because to me theyre what draws the most of my attention when i look ats a face also i didn't emphasize it too much in my notes but like draw eyebrows. if you're trying to draw a human face and it unintentionally feels off for some reason its because you forgot to draw eyebrows i see this happen a lot in the work of people who are beginning to draw more seriously and i think its because like people accept anything as a basic face as long as it looks like eyes and a mouth yknow. parelidolia. its obviously not human but its simple enough to be endearing however if you try to draw just a more detailed mouth with a more detailed pair of eyes its creepy because the realism brings out the awareness that its so close to being human but isnt beginners unconsciously apply basic face workings to a more detailed face probably because theyre used to drawing simple smiley faces but the things is that a basic face doesnt work the same as a more detailed face. and then their art gets uncanny valley. eyebrows complete a face and make it more likeable. there are various reasons that a character might not have eyebrows tho. for example: emphasizing nonhuman traits (evil or robot or animal)/hidden behind bangs/character just doesnt have any/art style + i don't know / i'm bald / any other miscellaneous infinitely nuanced answer *tags edited to make them marginally more coherent
