Meet my OC kaminari

Meet My OC Kaminari

This is kaminari the daughter/son of Zeus in my little story/comic I am thinking about making called the truth. I got the idea for this that is going to be about how a child who has grown up with one of their parents being "a wolf in sheep's clothing" and for the first twelve years of their life they loved them until a few days after turning thirteen they realized that the parent they loved for twelve years of their life wanted a son not a daughter. The parent is out to redeem themselves but they have a long journey ahead of them. Also got the idea to draw this by this song that belongs to Jorge Rivera-Herrans called thunder bringer.

Whilst Eurylochus isn't as faultless as my baby Polites, doesn't mean everything was his fault. Did he open the wind bag? Yes, yes, he did. Did that directly lead to poseidon killing of the crew? No, it didn't. Poseidon would have taken revenge on Odysseus and his crew either way, not just because they were pushed further away from Ithaca. As observed in the snippet of 'get in the water', we've seen that poseidon is more than capable of appearing anywhere in the ocean. Ergo, he was going to kill them all anyway, Eurylochus just spiced things up by changing the location they died. Furthermore, he wasn't wrong to mutiny against Odysseus, and realistically, he wasn't the one fully at fault for zeus and 'thunder bringer'. Now, I'm not saying he's faultless because most of the blame definitely falls onto him. What I am saying is that he was tired and hungry, and he'd given up. Think about it, he'd probably not eaten in days if he stopped off at the first island he came across and killed the sun God's cows. He'd just mutinied against his captain, his friend. Suddenly, the lives of all the crew rest souly on his shoulders. And he's just so tired. Tired of Odysseus ignoring his concerns, tired of seeing his friends and comrades die, tired of seeing Odysseus change for the worst and tired of being hungry. He wasn't in the right state of mind, he'd completely given up by the second half of 'mutiny'. During 'thunder bringer' he doesn't sound angry or even very betrayed. He just sounds apathetic, he's entirely given up at this point. He wants it all to end, and I can't say I blame him. What I'm saying is that, in this situation, would anyone have done anything different? With several gods already looming over you, wishing for your destruction, being so tired and so hungry, and having seen so many of your friends die would anyone really have left those cows?

Tldr; Eurylochus isn't entirely at fault, nobody is entirely at fault. All the actions taken are understandable. They are just humans and they make mistakes.

Okay, after listening to thunder bringer on repeat for the past couple of days I can officially say that I now understand all those people that willingly slept with zeus in Greek mythology.

Also, suffering and different beast are fucking awesome. I listened to the whole musical so far during a lesson today and those two stood out to me bc I liked them so much.

Current top 5 epic songs in no particular order:

Thunder bringer

Wouldn't you like

No longer you

Remember them

“Hear ye, hear ye! Local bastard cat-dad bard has come out with an update on his next poem!”

“Hear Ye, Hear Ye! Local Bastard Cat-dad Bard Has Come Out With An Update On His Next Poem!”

artistic interpretation of every post you have

What's gonna happen to this blog after Epic ends?

I’m going to keep it and keep posting! Epic isn’t going to disappear after the sagas stop releasing, and I won’t stop being a fan of the musical either!! The blog just might not have as many new updates on stuff, but I believe there is always more to discover, and take note of! Plus I believe this musical has a long future outside of the concept sagas, in terms of future adaptations, and much more!! (In short I’m here to stay!)

The lyric from suffering that always gets me is "the things I do for you" because THINK ABOUT THE IMPLICATIONS ARE YOU FRIGHTENED????(I had a opportunity i took it) but like this whole time he's been pretending to be talking to penelope and I do think that line was meant towards the real penelope! Because at that moment he's making himself a monster FOR HER he's killing those sirens FOR HER he's doing whatever it takes FOR HER!!!

“Then Jump In The Water And Kiss Me~”

“Then jump in the water and kiss me~”

“Penelope I’ve told you this before- you know I’m afraid of the water!”

“I’ll make sure that you are safe and sound~”

“Then Jump In The Water And Kiss Me~”
“Then Jump In The Water And Kiss Me~”

Odysseus: “gotcha beach 😏”

I’m very excited I finally finished this! I’m astounded at the attention my sketch of this is getting, I just hope this gets noticed too! Heh!

I feel like when he says “more than you know, his expression is very pained at first, like I just know he meant that! UGGH

BEWARE, long “EPIC: The Musical” rant ahead, [Spoilers] for the Thunder Saga:

I'm surprised nobody has said this, but in Scylla's song she's not talking about Odysseus, about how she and Ody are the same monsters. She's talking about Eurylochus.

Im surprised by how many people think she's talking about Ody since the beginning, but she doesn't talk about him until the last moment, after he's already offered six of her men as an offering for her to let the rest leave in peace

When Scylla says, "you hide a reason for shame", it's just when Eury says that he has a secret he can't keep any longer, one that's been eating him form the shame and guilt When Eurylochus says "I opened the windbag while you were asleep", the animatic focuses on Ody as Scylla says

"leaving them feeling betrayed", because Ody felt betrayed that his best friend, his second in command would betray him in such a way, would be the reason why he couldn't reach his home sooner

"Breaking the bonds that you've made" again with Ody's silence, how he was mentally preparing and planning to make Eurylochus part of the sacrifices, as that was the final straw for him to become ruthless and "a monster"

"There is no price we won't pay", with Eurylochus begging for forgiveness, not because he actually is sorry, but to try and get into his captain's good side because he knows he fucked up. By that moment, he no longer trusted Ody, and I'm sure he didn't felt any actual remorse But he had to get on the man’s good side because 1. He had almost committed a mutiny (I think) when he tried to make Ody abandon their men in Circe’s island. And 2. Because Odysseus was still his captain and King. Who would want to be on their king’s bad side?

It's not until Odysseus tells Eury to light up six torches (six men to sacrifice) that Scylla is actually talking about him. And it's not till the final verse ("We are the same, you an I") that Ody actually admits he's become like Scylla.

Thank you for coming to my TED talk.

EPIC: The musical is such a great source of media. The characters are fucking well written, it’s such a genius and creative adaptation. The designs that every artist makes are chef kisses. And the music itself feels like it’s being sung to me by a chorus of angels right from my ears to my heart.

That’s it. That’s all that I wanted to talk about. EPIC is amazing.

Happy New Year.

I know damn well Eurylochus was guilty.

Eurylochus was one of the men to open the wind bag, then he slayed one of Helios (or Apollos) cow. I know he feels guilty because he caused the suffering and lose of many soldiers, and made the journey longer to Ithaca.

But let's all be fr here, those soldiers, including Eurylochus, are all human. Just like us, we make mistakes. And we must pay for the consequences of our actions. Because how are we going to learn from our mistakes if we keep running away from them?

And I think that from the Thunder Saga during Thunder Bringer, that Eurylochus understood Odysseus. I'll let you all know that he's married to Odysseus's younger sister, Ctimene. Eurylochus would feel like he would do the same for her as Odysseus would do for Penelope.

Eurylochus isn't really in the wrong, he's sometimes doesn't think of the conquences of his actions, and so does Odysseus. Did Odysseus know that the Cyclops was the son of Poseidon? Possibly not. But I don't think that he didn't think that the blinding of the Cyclops would rage Poseidon and make the journey home difficult.

I Miss Penelope.

I just realised the more Odysseus keeps talking about him missing Penelope makes me miss her too.

Odysseus: I miss my wife...

Me: Yeah me too.

Odysseus: What.

Me: What?

Me to Odysseus before Zeus thunders the shit out of his crew: Tell Penelope.........that I miss her!

Odysseus: What?- wait- I didn't tell you-

Me: Shut the hell up we all know you talk about missing Penelope. Hell the whole world knows. You take about her in. Your. Sleep. Now I'm starting to miss her too.

Me: *Looks up at Zeus* Ya know- you can kill these other men, just not me and my pal Ody.

Eurylochus/Crew: WHAT?!

Me: *Turns to Odysseus*: I miss Penelope too. I dibs on the first hugs tho-

Odysseus: HEY

(MY) EPIC Headcanons

I love Jorge work so much (Suffering/Puppeteer are my favorites). I also like to thank OSP for giving a brief summary of the Odyssey.

After Odysseus kills/murders the suitors he spends a month relaxing with his son and Penelope.

Odysseus tells Telemachus about his Uncle Polites/Uncle Eurylochus.

Odysseus tells Telemachus about his adventures.

Circe becomes an aunt to Telemachus and a mother figure to Odysseus (Because I said so). Even though Circe doesn't come to Ithaca she sends letters to them.

I'd d like to think Odysseus was a heavy sleeper but became a light sleeper during his adventures.

During the song 'Underworld' Polites was singing open arms, but was holding the baby from the song 'The Infant and the Horse'.

When Ody first met Penelope he LITERALLY tucked a hair behind his ear. Penelope found it cute. Telemachus gets that trait whenever he is flustered & reminds Pene of his father.

Hermes is the Grandfather to Ody. (When researching how Hermes is related to Ody it was tricky and I gave up).

Penelope is the man in the relationship (Change my mind).

Odysseus was scared as shit to go near water because of Poseiden. Took him a few years to heal from that.

Odysseus doesn't know this, but Athena thought Odysseus as a son, a companion, someone closes to her. Even after their falling out, Athena goes out of her way to protect Odysseus. Which is shocking even to the gods. Gods aren't really attacted to mortals.

During Thunder Bringer Zeus actually consider to spare Odysseus crew if Odysseus was to sleep with him (whether he wanted to or not), but Hera intervened. Hera is very protective of men who are very faithful to their partners (Ex: Ody). Plus she knows Odysseus will always stay faithful to Penelope and she loves that about him.

Helena of Troy (after being rescued) had nightmares, even with her husband she's still scared that Paris or any of the trojans coming to get her back to Paris. Menelaus really wanted to rip Paris part by part because of the pain he caused to his wife.

During his childhood, Telemachus would always sleep next to his mother, Telemachus always feared that one of the suitors would violate his mother when he wasn't there to protect her.

Hermes gave Odysseus magic weed- Athena almost beat the shit outta him for that.

(In the Odyssey) Hermes did NOT like Calypso after what she did to Odysseus. Ares had to restrain him from going after Calypso.

Odysseus learned some flirting tips from Circe that he tried to use on Penelope (It didn't work, but he did get a kiss!), Penelope tried the same and Odysseus was a flustered mess.

Athena checks up on Ithaca once n' a while, Odysseus knows this and always left a window opened for the Goddess to watch over his family and kingdom.

While Poseiden was attacking Odysseus for blinding his son, half of it was because he was claimed by Athena, but now because Odysseus wasn't claimed by Athena anymore, Poseiden could do more harm.

Odysseus is a short king (that we almost stan ✨️), he was at the height of his father when he was in his early teens. Odysseus was recored as the shortest king of Ithaca, his son being only 2 inches higher than him.

Odysseus comforted his sister about Eury's death. Eurylochus was married to Odysseus younger sister, Ctimene, making Eurylochus Odysseus brother in law (Odysseus actually helped Eurylochus marry his sister, because he knew Eurylochus was the right and prefect husband for his sister.

(Will update this soon)

Hey remember when I was yapping about a baby siren in different beast? Well I just watched an animatic that had the same idea! It was heartbreaking :D! Go watch it it's really good: https://youtu.be/SlT0G3Ltzu8

I was wondering if maybe the sirens can only change to look like people who are around the same age as them (yes I’m still obsessed with the thunder saga, I promise I’ll write about wisdom saga soon)

Now obviously there’s no mythological or canonical reason why they would but it would certainly make things more interesting. Penelope is a middle aged woman so I imagine that Sirenope would have to be the eldest and most capable, most likely the leader as well.

And Odysseus’s daughter would be the youngest. I imagine a baby siren, around ten or so, impersonating this imaginary child. Perhaps this siren is the daughter of Sirenope, who is learning how to hunt from her mother (baby’s first drowning!! They grow up so fast!)

So when viewed through that lens Different Beast becomes even more monstrous because Odysseus is killing a child in front of its mother. He is also, ironically, putting Sirenope through the same pain he has felt ever since Poseidon - he is making her experience the guilt of a leader whose actions directly led to their people getting killed.

I saw a post that suggested Odysseus might have spared Sirenope’s life so she could live with the guilt of what she’s done, and I can’t help but admire the parallels. Odysseus has not only become a monster, he has become a monster that deals out the exact type of pain that he feels.

And he does it again by giving the torches to Eurylochus in Scylla oh my word-

Something I've been thinking a lot about recently

Would be Eurylochus's line in mutiny, "If you want all the power you must carry all the blame!" Because even though he sings it to Odysseus, it's not about Odysseus at all. That line perfectly encapsulates Eurylochus's own arc, and foreshadows his death.

I'm sure other people have talked about this as well, but I had to comment on it and how clever it is. Because Eurylochus did want all the power. For a while now, I think. That isn't to say he's been power hungry, but throughout the course of the musical he has grown increasingly dissatisfied with Ody's decisions. Especially from Ocean saga onwards, when Polites isn't there to keep the peace, I get the vibe that he feels that if only he was the one in charge, he could get them home. He would never have gotten them into these dangerous situations they find themselves in. It's his coping mechanism - blaming Odysseus helps keep his own guilt about the wind bag at bay. It's probably why he feels he can tell Odysseus about the wind bag, because he feels that it isn't entirely his fault.

Odysseus doesn't agree, of course, and all of this pent up anger and frustration finally comes to a head in Mutiny. Eurylochus yells this line to him, fully believing that Odysseus doesn't deserve to be in charge anymore and he has a point but that's a post for another day. What Eurylochus doesn't realise, though, is that when he takes Odysseus's power from him and becomes the leader, he will be held to the same standard.

So when he chooses to kill those cows, his words become a self fulfilling prophecy. For a moment, he had all the power. He made a choice. And he had to carry all the blame.
