Backstory: He was born in the modest fishing village of Allagoone on a merchant boat. Having Contaur, a hard-working father, Cartogra, a soft and caring mother, and a strong backbone of a sister named Rose. His birth left his mother weak and ill for the remaining years of her life, dying five years after Atlas’s birth. His father, grieving from the loss of his wife, fell from grace to forever seeing his life from the bottom of a bottle, now with a corrupt liver leaving his hearty business to sink as well. After three long years of this miserable existence. Contaur, in a drunken fit of rage at Atlas for taking his wife and good business, attempted to shoot him but Rose, protecting her defenseless brother, stepped in the way of the arrow ending her walk of life. Now, distraught with what just transpired, the last good thing his wife left him died protecting the horrible monster that broke his family, he has had the last straw of Atlas and sent him to the Navy of the neighboring Kingdom Grottivalia, where he was put to work as a Cabin boy on the Serene Sword. He did a good job on the ship, as he lived on a boat most of his life and learned how a mighty ship has to run on respect. One day, after 6 years of his cabin boy status, the Serene Sword was carrying valuable cargo being sent to the kingdom's allies when it was ambushed by a stern pirate ship called the Snapped Jaw. The vessel seized the Serene Sword taking the cargo and slaughtered most of the crew leaving the Quartermaster, two deckhands, and Atlas, who were all imprison on the mighty Galleon awaiting their fate. During those months in the galleon’s hull, he saw the deck hands trying to get information out of them, unlike the other prisoners. Atlas saw that the crew did everything that the Captain did as they were afraid of him. The Captain, feeling he got all he could out of them, had them brought up on deck as entertainment to himself. By the time the other prisoners were dead, Atlas had spoken out to the Captain, telling him that his own crew was scared of him and that this was is no way to run a ship. Captain Thrawkal was amused by him, he challenges Atlas to a duel saying if he believes this so strongly he should fight for it, as he tosses his cutlass to him giving him a bit more of a chance. Atlas, being self-taught in dueling, was uneasy but confident he could take him out, but with his knowledge of skittering around on a ship of this size and his small stature gave him an unseen edge. With his skills and him constantly evading Thrawkal’s attacks and chipping away at him. With Thrawkal growing hurt and damaged, he attempts to slice him in half but gets his blade stuck. Leaving him exposed and Atlas delivers the final blow, and Captain Thrawkal the Relentless was subdued. The crew petrified from Atlas, taking down the most powerful Pirate Captain known to live. Not wanting to be killed, they gave him the title of their new captain. Atlas realizing this accepting the role started with a speech said to make a volcano crack stating that he would not lead on fear but respect and that they no longer pummel, plunder, and pillage but would recover bounties save the good people, and make no one live a life of fear again. From that day on, He disregarded the name Havaul as his birth surname and took his mother’s name as… Captain Atlas Whiskerveil.
