Thank you everyone for 100 followers! (Though technically 104 now!)

I’m very flattered you all like my blog so much! I’m sorry I haven’t posted much lately, I’ve been busy trying new earth stuff and exploring places steven told me about! I’ll definitely make some posts, or one big one, talking about the places I visited and what I think of them.

I hope you all enjoy what I have to offer now, and to offer in the future! Stay safe!

Hi! Random Pokémon fun fact person here! I would love to give your dear Pippy a fun fact about her species! When talking about Chansey, many people just focus on her egg. I dislike that. So! Did you know that Chansey's hair tentacles are some of the most sensitive and tactile Pokémon body parts? Just gently touching one can give the Chansey the same brain signals and bear hugging or petting it. They are also able to sense emotions at a base level from up to 3 kilometers away and, when touching one, lets the Chansey FEEL those emotions at several times the intensity. Honestly, it makes sense why they're so reclusive with feelers like that.

- @trainer-dashiela

:0 this is really cool.

This does make a particular habit of Pippi’s a little confusing to me though. She likes to head butt me? That being said, it makes sense that she wears caps on her feelers when she goes to work now. 🤔

Chief is also missing a few feelers… :(

Thank you Dashiela! I hope to hear more cool stuff from ya! :D

Pips doesn’t do that. x)

Woke up to Pi having the zoomies. Apparently she just likes going hogwild at night sometimes.

Specifically she fell off of a shelf in my room, knocking dozens of other things down. She's fine, I had Pippi check her.

She also got into the screwdrivers again and took a clock apart. I forgot to post last time she did this but she keeps using our tools for strange means. We didn't care much for the clock so it's fine but like bbgrl please ur like 2 at most. Ur supposed to be making nonsense with legos and eating rocks. Thats what I did when I was like 2.

Actually we haven't gotten her age checked yet we should do that.

And I should get her some legos actually

Erm.

Pippi thinks she’s building something in the garage. She keeps using her talking pad to signal that 🛸 emoji too haha.

Which could mean nothing!

Pokerating Day 30, Lotad!

Pokerating Day 30, Lotad!

Charm: Idk what a lotad really is and that adds to its charm. It's clearly similar to lilypads, maybe a mimic to them for camoflauge? But otherwise? Idk. This could be some bird, it could be some weird bug, a small mammal, who knows. All I know is that its small, friendly, has six nubby lil nub legs it scoots around on, and is goddamn adorable. 10/10.

Care: So the main factor in housing a lotad is the environment its in. It needs clean, pure water, as it needs to both be able to free-float and safely consume the water. If it does not have access to this fundamental need the leaf on its head will wilt and die. Needless to say, that's a very bad sign. While it is capable of moving on land, it is exhausted easily doing so due to how heavy its leaf is (and how stubby its legs are). If you frequently find your lotad on land it can be a sign of poor water conditions. Some lotad do just like to travel more than others though so keep your tad's habits in mind. They consume mostly sunlight via photosynthesis and the rest of their nutrients are obtained via the water it drinks. Nutritional supplements designed for aquaponic systems should be added to water if not kept in a well established pond ecosystem. 4/10, aquatic mons are always harder to keep but lotad also is incredibly dependent on water quality. Lotad also really like to socialize with other pokemon, regardless if they're other lotad or any other pokemon thats small enough to not scare them. Good playmates include: small baby pokemon like igglybuff and togepi, pleasant-tempered aquatic or semi-aquatic pokemon like Johtonian wooper or surskit, and other non-boisterous pokemon like ralts and bounsweet. Avoid corphish, the two may often cohabitate in the wild but corphish will predate on lotad and tend to dirty the water with all of their excavation. The only reason corphish don't usually decimate lotad populations is bc they tend to occupy different vertical levels of the water. Both also migrate under poor water conditions, causing them to disperse and spread similarly, causing notable habitat range overlap.

Safety: Worst it can do is spit water in your face and waddle away. 10/10.

Utility: Learns surf (somehow), flash, and whirlpool. Ludicolo, however, learns surf, flash, whirlpool, rock smash, waterfall, dive, rock climb, and strength! Thats almost every field move! Most flying types can cover the rest of the field moves (cut, fly, defog). It also gets sweet scent, which, while far more niche, is still a field move. Lotad does have one other use though, which is as a small pokemon lifeguard! This is a habit that requires no teaching. It's a standard quality of lotad as a species. If they spot a small pokemon drowning they scoot over and scoop it up on their pad. This is particularly useful for people who keep having rattata and other small mons fall into their ponds (which is a common thing apparently?). Ludicolo can also be great actual lifeguards, albeit they don't like pools (chlorine) and saltwater, so application is limited. Ludicolo are also very intelligent and can be trained to do quite a lot. They're often trained as dancers, but they can do a lot more than just that! I've seen one working the register at a store before actually. It was.... strange, but not unwelcome. Friendly fella, that one. Only thing to look out for when training them is their NEED to dance if they hear upbeat music. But a lotta the time thie just results in fun little dance breaks. 9/10, a real jack of all trades pokemon! Great for travel assistance And day-to-day help! Only thing better would be if it could like... time travel. Or teleport you across the planet.

Battle: Ludicolo has been a staple of the double battle for as long as it existed. It's typing is solid, leaving it weak to only bug, flying, and poison, all of which are niche offensive types. It resists ground and water too, which are great resists cause earthquake and water spout are really really common in doubles. It has a respectable level of bulk to it too, and it learns just enough moves to have good coverage. It also gets The double battle move of all time, fake out, as well as scald. Where it shines, though, is in the ability Swift Swim. This doubles its' speed when its raining, making it blisteringly fast, as well as boosting the damage of its water type moves. The only issue is that it shares a lot about its niche with a few other great pokemon, namely mega swampert, seismitoad, kingdra, and more. However, that doesn't make it worse, no pokemon should really encompass every single competitive meta generation, thats just borderline impossible. 7/10, cause while its only used in double battles under rain, it's absolutely exceptional when doing so.

Oh and a note for people who wanna train lotad: get yours from a breeder. They don't learn any decent moves as a lotad outside of egg moves (and tm moves I guess). Get yours from a breeder so you can start with at least water gun. Otherwise it Will evolve far before naturally learning any water type move, which can make training a slog. Lotad breeders are pretty common cause its a common pond ornamental and most of those breeders will breed some egg moves onto the lotad so they defend themselves better from predators.

Scores:

Charm: 10/10

Care: 4/10

Safety: 10/10

Utility: 9/10

Battle: 7/10

Final Score: 40/50(!!!)

Pet Score: 24/30

Trainer Score: 16/20

Notes: I love lotad. They aren't very common up here cause its a little cold for them but they do pop up from time to time and I love seeing them. They got an exceptionally amazing score too! The only real bad trait is that they have a few unique needs that makes care difficult.

Pokerating Day 26, Indeedee?

Pokerating Day 26, Indeedee?

Note: above picture is a female. Males look notably different.

Charm: Very polite, they seemingly live to serve others? They feed on positive emotion so they do what they can to create positive emotion. There's the moral question of wether good deeds done out of self interest are truly good deeds, but honestly I say since it's mutually positive it doesn't matter. 7/10 but thats biased by never seeing this pokemon before and never seeing one in person.

Care: I think this thing would care for itself. If anything it'll probably care for you more than you need to care for it. 10/10?

Safety: According to pokedex data the worst these'll do is chuck some things at you to get you to leave if your vibes are stank nasty. 9/10?

Utility: Blah blah Galar HM nono. I don't think it'd learn any anyways, except maybe strength? It learns nothing that helps with pokemon catching other than heal pulse either. All of these issues are trivial though since its a dedicated butler thats smart enough to likely be taught how to use various tools and probably even electronics. I bet you could, if dedicated enough, teach one to do your taxes. 10/10. Sure it probably can't learn cut or dig but you could just give it shears or a shovel and it could probably do the same thing.

Battle: I... huh. Apparently these are a menace in double battles. Their hidden ability, psychic surge, is essentially a signature ability since the only other mon known to have it is the legendary Tapu Lele. Psychic terrain nullifies competitive staple moves like sucker punch and fake-out from grounded opponents and almost doubles the power of the already strong expanding force, which also hits both opponents. These factors, combined with also getting trick room, make it one of the strongest double battle support pokemon out there. Note that only the male form can learn expanding force itself along with psychic noise (and other moves), while the female form is slower but can learn follow me, reflect, light screen, and other utility moves. The female variant is usually considered better due to the move follow me. These are two pokemon used exclusively in the highest ranking doubles tournaments and that gets them a 7/10, not higher since they're more enabler than actual win condition and limited use to only the one format.

Final Score:

Charm: 7/10 (subjective)

Care: 10/10 (honestly maybe even 11/10)

Safety: 9/10

Utility: 10/10

Battle: 7/10

Score: 43/50(!!!)

Pet Score: 26/30

Trainer Score: 17/20

Notes: I... what an unexpected winner of the ranking system. Honestly I wouldn't be against it getting 10/10 in charm and safety but I would need to interact with them more to say with certainty. I didn't know this thing existed until now actually.

Awh idk I think he’s kinda cute. The tubes are weird but his lil banana face is charming.

Pokerating Day 20! Heatmor!

Pokerating Day 20! Heatmor!

Charm: Kinda just ugly as much as I hate to say it. It looks like a fast food advertisement sign. It's also notably bald, and the weird tubes just look gross. They look like its internals have externaled. It also makes a room smell burnt just by being there. I think this is an actual 0/10. You can't even watch it's natural feeding habits cause trust me when I say you don't wanna raise a supply of durant just to feed this thing, and even if you DID it would just be it sticking its snout in an ant hole and breathing through its ass.

Care: More difficult than its worth. Not only is their natural wild food really difficult to culture (and, honestly, a more interesting pokemon), but they're also picky eaters. They tend to just incinerate food they don't want. It was very recently discovered that they're particularly picky about texture, and that boiled egg is a good way to get around that, but that means having a consistent supply of eggs which is fairly difficult in some places. It also needs them cooked, since if it tries to cook it the egg will probably pop. 3/10? Sounds like a reasonable enough score.

Safety: It's presence is enough to set off smoke alarms, and it can easily light your shit on fire by just licking it. It also has bigass claws and a fairly grumpy attitude. 3/10 carbon monoxide poisonings.

Utility: Good for removing durant populations. Like any other fire type. Can learn dig, cut, and rock smash. Mid. Not even good for a fire type's typical utility IMO. It's like 4 1/2' tall, just go catch almost any smaller fire type and I bet it can do the same without being so difficult to keep. 4/10.

Battle: This is a poor pokemon for battling. Lets go over the positives first, wide moveset, and a decent ability in flash fire. Now the negatives: it's in that perfect speed range to be too slow to outspeed much, yet too fast for trick room. It's also pretty frail with a poor defensive type, and has nowhere near enough oomph to actually hit hard with the wide array of moves it can use. It also takes increased stealth rocks damage. 2/10, there are definitely worse pokemon out there but for a fully evolved pokemon this thing is just so mediocre than any other fire type is better in some way.

Final Score:

Charm: 0/10

Care: 3/10

Safety: 3/10

Utility: 4/10

Battle: 2/10

Total Score: 12/50

Pet Score: 6/30

Battle score: 6/20

Notes: I feel bad bashing on this thing but it really just has no good qualities. Its a moderately disturbing (and ugly) pokemon that I would prefer to never see again.

Again, this rating is inherently biased just like every other thing made by any organism ever concieved, so if you love this thing? Good on you. I respect you for finding joy somewhere where I can't. Don't let my words change your opinions and stay you!

Tags

Pippi basically said it’s just cold asf here and eggs gonna take longer.

She seems content just watering the two random egg plants??? I got ??

Y'know, I'm starting to be a little worried about the egg. Pippi and Chief are reassuring me that all is fine but it was supposed to hatch like... well, a while ago. Vital signs on the incubator panel are still normal, and I guess the chanseys would know best.

I've been carrying it with me constantly, and the incubator manages the temp, humidity, etc. so it should be fine, but idk.

Maybe the lil guy just doesn't wanna hatch yet.

Oh my god… they’re CUTE!

Big coral like creature … I wonder if they’d want to be friends………….

Pokerating Day 17, Stakatakakatatakatakatakakataka

Pokerating Day 17, Stakatakakatatakatakatakakataka

Charm: Honestly, while being a cool looking mon (gonna refer to the ultra beasts as pokemon for simplicity), it's also strangely cute when you realize its like... 100+ organisms in a trenchcoat. Each "brick" of the stakataka, sometimes jokingly called "taka" as I will be referring to them, is it's own organism. It's kind of like a coral when you really think about it. 10/10

Care: So, this is one of the least understood ultra beasts. We do not have documentation of it's ultra-space dimension. Anything here will be speculative, so ignore this rating if you only want cold hard facts. Stakataka is most reminiscent of a coral, as it is a colony of individual stone-shelled creatures. We can assume that each taka (brick) has a separate internal biology, so it would have to eat separately. This usually lends best to filter-feeding, buuuut stakataka has no real prey that it COULD filterfeed that we know of. It is likely, at least partially, carnivorous, as most similar creatures are, and I would theorize that they hunt other rock-types via ambush. This is an incredibly slow organism so it is NOT an active hunter. I would guess that one or two taka take watch while the others pretend to be a brick wall, and then they send a signal to ambush when something gets close. Overall I have to do a ?/10 though, since this is all speculative. A stakataka is also FUCKING MASSIVE. You're gonna need like several acres of land for it and LOTS of prey.

Safety: One taka is probably harmless but a full stakataka? No. 0/10

Utility: Field move data on these pokemon are... limited, to say the least. Both due to their discovery in Alola, a region that doesn't use field moves, and due to being exceedingly rare, we have no confirmation on what "HM" moves they could use. I would *guess* that it could learn cut, rock smash, strength, and MAYBE rock climb. Despite that, this fella(s) is (are?) essentially a mobile brick wall. You could easily set up a tarp over one and be safe if it likes you. ?/10 though regardless sadly.

Battle Potential: Damned by its type. Just like the many rock/steel types before it. I already went over this type not to long ago, but to simplify, double weak to fighting and ground, two of the most common offensive types, is damning. It's still alright, and if it can get going, setting up an iron defense or something so it can bodypress harder or setting trickroom, it can certianly put in work, but when other more common mons exist it's hard to justify. 4/10, I think it could do better in the future if a move or ability that makes trick room better is found, but right now it's just impressively slow.

Final Ratings:

Charm: 10/10

Care: Data Insufficient

Safety: 0/10

Utility: Data Insufficient

Battle Potential: 4/10

Final Notes:

Those totally legally obtained documents I got access to helped on this one but even those can only do so much. I love calling the little bricks "taka", in fact, if we said taka for each taka in a stakataka it'd look like staka....

TakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakaTakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakaTakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakaTakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakaTakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakaTakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakaTakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakaTakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakaTakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakaTakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakaTakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakaTakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakaTakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakaTakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakaTakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakatakataka

That almost looks like one with the T's I accidentally capitalized. Anyways its rumored to be roughly 150 takas per staka.

He’d be willing to do an in person appointment, I’m not sure how you feel bout those. I know you mentioned stigma and disliking it as such, so I’d suspect not.

I doubt my grandparents had the foresight for that, tbh. They were ‘learn from what I do’ types. My grandma and grandpa were both pretty darn selfless too, and they struggle with similar things tbh.

He tends to be isolated and repeat the same routine daily, including housekeeping and care tasks for … anyone? No one in particular? Making poultices and bandages and preparing cups for medication and the like.

We’ve been trying to encourage him and his little oddish pal to do other things- they both enjoyed gardening with my grandpa in the past, or fishing… but it’s really just the same caretaking routine every day.

He’s also reluctant to eat or drink much? He has a little chansey mobile he drives around with, but that’s about all he does for fun. Otherwise he just kind of sits on the couch and… waits.

🪐

Doing this a lil out of order but!

🪐 Fave Ground type?

Palossand! This might surprise most people that know me- I mean, I hate sand. It’s rough, it’s course, it’s irritating and it gets everywhere! But hear me out-

ITS CUTE. And maybe it’ll pick up all the sand for me if I give it … sand … treats? I’ve never had a pokemon like it, so I have no idea.

🐉 Fave dragon type

Goomy and its entire line… SQUISHY CUTE BOIS. We have so many where we are and it’s always a delight to see them.

Gabite and its line is a close second cause of my sibling. And dreepy cause it’s cute!

⚙️ Fave steel type

Galarian Meowth… what a lil gremlin…

I have a soft spot for mawile and Aron too though. Mawile cause when I was edgy in middle and high school they were my favourite and I drew so many of them eating my least favourite classmates and teachers. Aron cause … cute lil guy. I watched one walk into two seperate walls in a video once and fell in love.

Thanks for asking!
