I attended the opening of Gary Colye's exhibition 'Terra Cognita' at the Kevin Kavanagh Gallery, (Chancery Lane, Dublin 8) tonight. It was packed.
⚫⚫⚫
My favorite drawing was After The Flood'. I loved the simplicity of this image. Three of the walls in the gallery were decorated in green. The forth wall was done in red. All were decorated with natural forms.
⚫⚫⚫
I also liked in the drawing 'In A Forest Clearing'. It was the most striking artwork with the eye in its centre.

Gary's exhibition will continue until the 15th March 2025.

Tonight, I attended the opening of Dermot Seymour's 'The Nine Primates of Ulster' at the Kevin Kavanagh Gallery, Chancery Lane, Dublin 8. The event began with Dermot conversing with Martin Mackin before answering questions from an audience about his work. Afterwards, the atmosphere was relaxed with plenty of chat.
Each of Dermot's paintings featured the portrait of a different species of money or ape. He did not specify any of these species in the titles of his paintings. The faces and eyes of these animals were painted in sharp expressive detail while their shoulders and background appeared more blurred and abstract. I liked 'Primate of Cavan' and 'Primate of Monaghan' due to their compositions. Dermot's show will run until 12th Oct 2024.

Salvatore of Lucan at Kevin Kavanagh
Tonight, I attended the opening of Salvatore's exhibition at Kevin Kavanagh Gallery, Chancery Lane, Dublin 8. The event was well attended and had a lively atmosphere.
Salvatore's paintings came in different shapes and sizes. One painting called 'Tiny Nude' was just 5 cm x 5 cm. My favourite painting was shaped like a heart with the title 'Heart Shaped Canvas'. Its subject matter featuring a bottom was simple and clever. Another painting which was circular had what I considered the humorous title of 'Mother With A Bad Back'. Most of Salvatore's paintings formated in the usual rectangles and squares measured up to 150 cm x 150 cm. His exhibition called 'Fancy Situations will run until 29th June 2024.

Just back from the opening of Sinéad Ní Mhaonaigh's exhibition 'Dwelling' at the Kevin Kavanagh Gallery, Chancery Lane, Dub 8. Most of Sinéad's paintings were the same shape and size which gave consistency to her exhibition. My favourite painting was the large yellow one called 'Dweling' because it was cheerful. The venue was busy, the atmosphere lively. Sinéad's exhibition will run until 2nd Mar 2024.
