Digital painting of lots of planets. Dubia is Earth in a future where climate change has melted all ice, raising sea levels drastically and altering the climate, which produces among other changes a habitable antarctica and a lusher Africa. Mars has been terraformed, with large desert and glacial regions with a few lush green areas in the lowlands. Venus has been terraformed too. It has very fractal coastlines and the continent facing the viewer has a large internal desert. Io is visible as a many-colored messy globe. Tharn is a small world between the size of Mars and the Earth, with some plate tectonics in places. It is largely deserted, with some lush areas in the north near the shallow seas. There's a multi-ring impact basin in the southern equatorial area with a lake in it. The continents are tall snowy barren highlands. Pegasia is a much more Earthlike world. It's closer to Earth sized but still smaller. It has large pointy continents with large internal seas. Capsica is a hot world with continents covered in red vegetation, with the highlands inhabited by the more familiar green vegetation. Its clouds are thicker and steamier. There's virtually no ice. Serrana is a small world, not much bigger than Tharn, with continental plate tectonics only on parts of the world. There's a large shallow ocean in the north, and a large landmass in the south. A large brown desert spans much of the southern hemisphere from this view, but there are lush green areas in the equatorial and northern bits where the land is less dense. Kakalea is a world slightly larger than Earth, with lots of evenly sized, evenly spaced continents--though only three are seen here. They all have large internal deserts, like lots of Australias. Libratia is slightly smaller than Kakalea and has an enormous mid-ocean rift jaggedly cutting across it, with a night side ice cap on the other side.
Xanadu is an orange Titan-like world, much smaller than even Mars. Lyr is a huge world, much larger than Earth and dwarfing every other object in the image. It is mostly ocean, sparsely populated with large islands. Its clouds have an almost gas giant banding appearance. Its moon is Oisin, a white ice ball with dark brown continents (about the size of Lyr's islands) sticking out of the ice. There is a green border on the ice surrounding the continents.

My interpretation of Chris Wayan's Planetocopia, a set of alien worlds that test the limits of planetary habitablity (and also, as it happens, alien furry design.)

Planetocopia can be found here.

The planetary science based design of Planetocopia has been a huge influence on my planet-scale worldbuilding style ever since I learned of it probably close to a decade ago.

These drawings were mostly done by projecting the planet maps onto an orthographic projection and then tracing the coastlines, with all other features done manually, but some of them were traced from the photos of the physical globe models, and Kakalea, Xanadu, and Serrana were done freehanded.

Cloudless version below the cut.
