Stanley Pines is basically holding onto the teenaged version of his brother.

That connection is strong enough that it only took two words to get him to drive all the way up to Oregon and then spend three decades trying to bring Ford back. That kind of dedication, that kind of inextinguishable hope, is astounding, and it is not the behavior of someone who blames Ford for closing the window on him, not at all.

So why, then, does Stan care so much? Because to him, Ford is just about the coolest person to exist. Not just because he's astoundingly smart and capable, but also because he was the only person who really cared about him.

There's a lot of talk about suspected physical abuse in the Pines household for the twins growing up, but I think there was a lot of neglect too. I think Ford and Stan really only had each other as kids. That is an intense connection.

For Ford, that connection terrifies him. Because Ford does not want to be that boy. That boy was scared and that boy got knocked around and had to hide behind his twin. That boy was weak and Stanford Pines is not weak, Stanford Pines is special and important and he's going to show the whole goddamn world.

But for Stan... that connection is the only thing that proves he was worth anything. So if his relationship with Ford isn't salvageable...

then is he worth anything at all?

STAN TWINS BONDING IDEAAAA

OK SO. I was watching the movie WALL-E with my little sister a few nights ago, and I thought: What if the Stan twins watched it?

Obviously Mabel probably would make them watch it bc its a romance and she loves those, but it would also be relatively new in the GF timeline (the movie came out in 2008 so it would only be 5-ish years old in 2013)

HOWEVER.

The end of the movie end with EVE and WALL-E finally getting together, but not before EVE has to fix WALL-E. And what happens after that?

WALL-E HAS NO MEMORIES.

So I was thinking that the Stans would get sorta emotional at that part because like. They kinda had to go through the same thing? I mean, OBVIOUSLY THEY ARE NOT A COUPLE (do NOT reblog and tag as a ship or so help me), but the concept is similar.

Jut a silly, angst-filled idea I had. Carry on with your day :)

dear cast, what was your hardest episode to act for (if one applies)?

Dear Pickledoesthetumbling,

I don't understand why you would want to know (why are people obsessed with seeing me vulnerable), but I suppose I'll entertain my fans. You better appreciate it! The things I'll do for my parent's public image.

I would have to say that the most difficult episode for me to act in was the "Northwest Mansion Mystery" episode. Why? Well, there's multiple reasons behind it, for your information. First of all, Mason is a jerk. ... Okay, fine, maybe that was a bit of an overstatement. I'll rephrase β€” he can be an annoying smart aleck when he wants to. And, for some reason that only he himself will ever know, he decided to be one for the episode. Constantly. So much so that some scenes from the episode weren't planned and instead some of those "times when actors weren't acting" thing. So what if I maybe fired some insults back? Horror is dumb. It's a scientifically proven fact. Besides, he knows that I'm a natural blonde! Yet, he keeps on making comments about how I'm not. Ugh. He's lucky that I don't mind wasting my time with him with how he acts.

Secondly, the episode hit a bit too...personal for me. I may or may not have had a few mental breakdowns that were only calmed down by Mason and the sense of security he gives me, but there's no proof of that. Like, at all. So, don't go poking your nose around any rumors, gossip, or cut takes. Or else I'll sue you. I'm not joking. I'm sure Mr. Stan would be more than willing to be my lawyer for a cut of the profit.

You're Welcome,

Patricia

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Pickledoesthetumbling,
This was a good question! Here β€” have a sticker for the amazing idea! ^^
Dear Cast, What Was Your Hardest Episode To Act For (if One Applies)?
Take it! It's a gift between you and me. Anywayβ€” I would have to say that the episode "Dipper and Mabel vs. the Future" was the most difficult for me to act. I'm new at acting, so I didn't know how to make myself emotional or cry at will. Because of this, the ending ended up, admittedly, taking a while to get done. But, everyone was really nice about it! Mr. Stan even gave me some private, one-on-one lessons to help for the scene. It was SO fun. I learned a lot from him! He's the best! I should probably give him a thank-you sticker...
Best wishes,
Mabel <3
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Dear Pickledoesthetumbling,

I don't usually have much trouble when it comes to acting due to my lengthy experience in the film industry. But, I would have to say that the hardest episode to act for was "Dipper and Mabel vs. the Future." Usually, I'm able to detach myself from the other cast members and get deep into the role, but the idea of saying something that was supposed to break Mabel's (the character's) heart when she acted so similar to, well, the actor her was just...

...

It β€” It took a little longer than it normally would have to get into character for the scene. I don't want to talk about it anymore, nor do I have to. Please don't be like other "fans" and choose to respect my privacy. We're not just people acting for your entertainment β€” we're real human beings, just like you. I shouldn't have to state that.

Sincerely,

Mason

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Pickledoesthetumbling,
In all honesty, the answer came to me right away β€” like a dream! Except it's not a dream, since it's the hardest episode I found to act for, heh... Uh, proceeding on, the episode I had the worst time acting for was "The Hand That Rocks the Mabel". Funny, considering that it was my (character's) debut episode, isn't it? It was difficult for me for two reasons. One, it was my first ever time acting with a main role, so I put a teensy bit of pressure onto myself to be perfect. Not too much, but still some. And, two, I β€” from time to time β€” got a bit weirded out from the lines and actions I had to act out. Gideon's a lil' creep. I knew this already, of course, but I still got slightly uncomfortable when I finally had to act like one. It's different knowing something about a character beforehand than having it actually play out in front of your eyes. 'Specially if you're the one playing it out. But, I digress.
Best regards,
Deon
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Dear Pickledoesthetumbling,

Thank you for question. I hope that my answer doesn't disappoint, but I can't really think of an episode I had the hardest time acting for, dude (neutral). Like, I had a pretty chill time acting for all of them. Sure, I may have had a little bit of a trouble once in while, but nothing that really stands out. Y'know what I mean? Kinda like when you get all of your dream presents and you're asked to pick a worst one out of all of them. You can't really decide β€” you feel the same about all of them, but in a positive way. Uh, so yeah. Still, thanks for asking!

Cheers,

Alza (or "Alzamirano" for formality?? Not entirely sure on how to do this, dude...)

P.S. should I have maybe written that extra bit as a "P.S."?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Pickledoesthetumbling,
I took the moment to think deeply about the question before writing my reply, and I can confirm that I indeed have one! For me personally, I reckon that the episode I had the hardest time acting for was the "Gideon Rises" one. I will be the first one to admit that I'm a huge klutz. Whenever we had to shoot that one scene where I was building Gideon his ginormous robot, I would keep slipping, or dropping stuff, or just straight messing up. We had to do...what? Ten retakes? I don't remember the exact amount. Not that I've developed memory problems like my character, heh. Remembering a specific number just wasn't my top priority.
Respectfully,
Hadron
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Dear Pickledoesthetumbling,

Ooh~! Interesting question. You don't have the intention of stirring up drama, do you? Ah, I'm just messing with you. Haha! Of course you do! Who doesn't? That's why there's an entire genre for it: People crave tragedy and melodrama. Why, it's a fact about society at this point. Why else do you think there are so many angsty fanfictions on WattPad and Ao3? Because people enjoy watching other people suffer!

Oh, and just to clarify, I'm not one of those people. Cross my heart and hope to die, stick a cupcake in my eye (Pinkie Pie, no one could understand your greatness). Sure, I thrive in the chaos and perhaps may cause some of it from time to time, but when it comes down to the serious stuff? Like bad things happening to real people? I'm not going to stand by and make it my own form of entertainment like everyone else.

...

Oh, that got depressing quick, didn't it? My apologies I'mnottrulysorry! Anywho, back to the reason why I'm writing this whole thing β€” the hardest episode for me to act for? Well, kid, I'll tell ya. It would have to be "Weirdmaggedon 3: Take Back the Falls". That episode was the main time I struggled out of all of the times I acted for the series. And let me tell you, it was smooth sailing with very little sea monsters threatening the peace when working on the show.

To be more specific, the scene in the Fearamid's Penthouse with Ford was the one I had a difficult time with. Trust me, there's nothing I like more than a challenge, though! Some technical difficulties were overdue after such easy workload and I was prepared for them. Totally. 100%! You better not doubt any of what I'm saying because it's all very much true and if you do you're stupid (jk, I'm sure you're smart if you rightfully have interest in people like me). There definitely was no extra tension between the two of us, and I definitely did not want to bolt the room the moment we were forced to stay onto the same set together. And I definitely did not think back to those days when we met each other in secret. Nor did I remember the twinkle in his brown eyes when he looked at me like I was worth something, stirring up feelings within my heart. I especially did not think of how much I missed him, of how much I regretted our (my) decision to part ways.

Aside from that, everything was a breeze! Acting was β€” what's the phrase? Oh, yes! Easy peasy lemon squeezy! After all, an actor as talented as moi barely ever has a hard time with the art he perfected.

Yours,

William

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Pickledoesthetumbling,
Ha! You wanna know the episode I had the hardest time acting? You wish. Sure, the question itself may come from innocent motives, but one thing I learned is that if you give the public an inch, they'll take a mile. I reveal what episode was the most difficult for me and why and the information will be spread all across the internet β€” like a weed growing in a garden! Then, it'll become one big game of telephone where the information gets abridged and summarized and translated to the point where it's phrased entirely differently with some people's personal thoughts added to the mix as if I spoke them aloud. After that, either it's used to turn me into some meme β€” damaging my reputation and self-worth, but don't tell Ford that β€” or it'll be used to fuel some controversy or type of slander that only those type of people are capable of coming up with. So, sorry, but I ain't got anything for ya. Try again next time.
Goodbye,
Stan
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Dear Pickledoesthetumbling,

I compliment you for both your curiosity and decision to take matters into your own hands in order to discover some answers for yourself. Not many people have the confidence to inquire with me about such a subject (though I am absent of any clue why), so I shall reward you for your boldness with an answer.

After thoroughly pondering my many experiences acting for scenes from the show, I have come to a firm and definite conclusion. I can say with absolute certainly that the episode I had the most difficult time acting for was "Weirdmaggedon 3: Take Back the Falls" due to the existence of the Penthouse scene between William and I. I'm sorry to disappoint you in such a manner, but I refuse to give an explanation as for why. It's a personal matter that brings me much discomfort every time my mind thinks of it.

Thank you for your understanding.

Cordially,

Dr. Ford

(I'm sorry that this took so long. I ended up being very busy today. I'm planning on eventually writing a fanfic for this AU once I get to the final part of the "Meet the Cast!" series and one of the chapters delves into how William and Ford felt acting out that one scene. Thank you so much for the ask!)

Okay, okay. I thought it would take me longer to think of a question because I'm terrible at asking questions but;

To all of the characters in the actor au; who is their favourite character? Why?

Dear Majorinfanfiction,

You want to know my favorite character? I could take a while and pretend that they're all as a great as each other, but I'll save you the time. In truth β€” and this is an objective fact, no matter what Mason may say about it β€” the best character is Mabel. You don't see many characters like her so full of heart and fun that don't come off as annoying in media. People can be soooo depressing nowadays. The world needs a little sunshine. Ugh, that was so corny. Mabel (the actor, not the character) is rubbing off on me.

You're welcome,

Patricia

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Majoringinfanfiction,
Hiiiii!!!!!! Thank you SO much for the question! I love answering them. Anywaysβ€” My favorite character? Umm, this is a difficult one. They're all so amazing in their own way, y'know? If I had to pick only one, I think I would maybe choose Waddles. Yeah, sorry, I may be a bit biased, but come onβ€” Look at his face! Look at his cute, widdle feet and chubby cheeks. Tell me you don't like him. Try to. You'll find you can't because he's the BEST!
Best wishes,
Mabel <3
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Dear Majoringinfanfiction,

I appreciate you going out of your way to ask me this question. If I were to choose my favorite character out of all of them from the show, I would probably choose Bill Cipher. May seem strange at first (considering the character I play and all), but it most likely stems from the fact that I love horror, and Bill? He feels like he stepped straight out of some weird, psychological or body horror film. I'm honestly suprised he was deemed "child-friendly" enough to be placed in the show, but if it allowed us to end up with an excellent character, then I'll just reap the benefits from a flawed system. If I only would be able to do the same for capitalism. Just kidding, I don't have to worry about that...yet.

Sincerely,

Mason

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Majoringinfanfiction,
Thank you for sending me this question! I don't tend to usually receive many. I'm not as popular as the other actors, but in all honesty, I'm fine with that. Who's my favorite character? Probably Mabel, but not in the same way as my character feels toward her in the show. I just think she's really sweet with a heart of gold; that's all. I hope your day goes swell.
Best regards,
Deon
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Dear Majoringinfanfiction,

Hi. I just want to say: Thank you so much, dude (neutral). It warms my heart to know you all have some interest in me as a person. Now, who's my favorite character? Hmm... This is a serious, chin-holding question, I'm gonna be honest. I'd probably go with Mr. Stanley Pines. He's a fun dude in the show with a good sense of humor. Very cool. Thanks again!

Cheers,

Alza (or Alzamirano if we're going to be formal. Are we?)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Majoringinfanfiction,
Hey there! Thank you kindly for sending this me this ask. I don't believe I could express just how greatly I appreciate it. Onto the question: "Who's my favorite character? Why?" Well, I would say that it's Pacifica Northwest. A lot of people tend to write rich folks as heartless and shallow, as if there's nothing human about them and they're just a soul-less name. I say that's just not true. Every human being is a human being! They are have a heart hidden beneath their skin that beats as much as yours. There's a person behind that wealthy name who lives and breathes. Yet, when it comes to fiction, writers will act like there's not. The writers for this show didn't though. They gave that rich person a personality behind the name and that name is Pacifica.
With gratitude,
Hadron
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Dear Majoringinfanfiction,

This was one of the most interesting questions out of my mountains of fanmail, so I shall answer it first (I'm half-joking, I love and appreciate all of my fans; don't attack me with pitchforks). Who is moi's favorite character, you ask? Why, I shall delight you with a response! You better write this down into the history books. History is happening (hence what books they'll be written in)! My favorite character is...drumroll please...πŸ₯πŸ₯πŸ₯πŸ₯

...

(Wait for it.)

...

(Come on, you can be patient. Sheesh, give a triangle some time.)

...

None other than Stanford Filbrick Pines! Everyone give me a round of applause for answering a question with personal thoughts tied to it! And maybe a margarita while you're at it. No, I will not be explaining why or elaborating on my answer. The show's community is built on theorizing, this is practically a homage to that and certainly not an attempt to avoid introspect.

Yours,

William

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Dear Majoringinfanfiction,
You want to know who my favorite character is? Fine. I'll give ya three hints. You get it wrong, you owe me five dollars. Deal? Deal.
1. He appeared at a later date
2. He has fingers
3. He's a nerd
There you go. If you said anyone other than Stanford, then pay up. Ya owe me money from the bet that you definitely, 100% agreed to. As for why he's my favorite, he reminds me a lot of my brother! Nerdy, socially awkward, and a huge stick in the mud (but in an affectionate way).
PayPal me,
Stan
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Dear Majoringinfanfiction,

I would like to start this letter by informing you of just how honored I am that you chose to send fanmail of me to all people. I was doubtful that anyone would enjoy my performances and insecure of my worth in the acting industry. However, these thoughts were proven to be quite incorrect just moments after the episode of my first appearance aired. I cannot state just how much everyone's support has meant to me. With that said, I will now proceed to answer your question.

I would, in full confidence, state that Stan is my favorite character due to how much he's like my brother. They truly are similar; it's very uncanny. Yet, it also only strengthens my fondness of the character. I hope that my response is found satisfactory.

Cordially,

Dr. Ford

β€”Meet the Cast!β€”

(Part Two: The Stan Twins)

Stan:

Stan has spent the majority of his life as an actor. Ever since he was young, he auditioned for parts in plays; giving him an early start to his career. His lengthy experience has allowed him to perfect the art, becoming a professional of the finest quality. He would have never ended up at this point, however, if not for his passion for performing.

"I'd have to say I love the thrill of it. Always have. Putting on a persona and just fallin' back into the character. I dunno too much about the mental implications β€” that's more of Ford's thing, ya see: nerd stuff β€” but maybe the fact that it makes me feel in control of the situation is why. And, yeah, I know that it's 'you' not 'ya,' or whatever. I get enough of that at home from you-know-who," he explained upon questioning.

He was requested specifically to play the role of "Stanley Pines" by the creators, Mickey Mouse and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. They claimed that they thought no one would be able to bring the character to life as well as him. After all, it was a difficult balance of "greedy conman," "grumpy old man," and "secret softie" that had to be done perfectly in order to accurately reflect the vision. A feat they believed only Stan was capable of achieving. Ultimately, they were right: Causing Stanley Pines to become a character loved by the public all because of Stan's acting.

In his free time, he tends to attend casinos for the cause of gambling. He'll walk in with a small amount of cash in his pockets (moderated by Ford to ensure that his twin doesn't accidentally drive himself broke) and come out with bags overflowing with money. He claims to be an extremely lucky person with natural talent and good instincts when it comes to the activity. He has been accused of cheating by many, but his good heart and reputation is enough to challenge and disarm such slander. (Plus, Ford comes to his brother's defense in a way so aggressively protective that some of them back off immediately out of fear.)

Despite his tough outside and gruff voice, he's a kind person who cares a lot about those around him. He's started multiple charities with the money he's won from casinos and gained over the years in an attempt to help those in need. He implores others to step up and do the same, since every donation and act to make the world better makes a difference.

He lives with his twin brother, Ford, and the two of them spend much quality time together. Some people are suprised that they still stay so close at their age, but they just reply that they're like fictional counterparts and wouldn't have it any other way.

Ford:

Ford is a well-established scientist whose scientific endeavors, while usually being a bit more unorthodox, have paved the way for several accomplishments. He strives for the betterment for society and believes that in order to make discoveries, you need to realize and accept the truth surrounding you. Recently, he's also developed some fame for his first ever acting role of playing "Stanford Pines" from the adored series, "Gravity Falls." The story of how he came to receiving that role is one of humorous coincidences.

"It really was just a huge struck of unbelievable luck β€” though it was because of Stan, so maybe it isn't that out-of-left-field. The beginning of the story, so I was told, was this: Stan was talking to the writers about upcoming episodes and they revealed to him that they were going to green screen him as double for the rest of the series for the long-lost twin brother, Stanford. Stan was asking about the appearance β€” what does the twin look like, are there any specific details he should know in advance for when it came to dressing for the scene shoot β€” so then they mentioned, 'Oh! Well, he has polydactyly, so we'll have to find some way to add an extra pair of fingers on.'" Of course, Stan immediately thought of me and told the crew about having a twin brother who just so happened to have six fingers. They were delighted by this information and offered me the role as a result.

"I didn't know what to think at first. Acting wasn't my forte and I didn't have much experience; not to say that I had none, for there were a few times where I covered for Stan when he had to drop-out last minute. Regardless, I still wasn't very skilled in that particular field of expertise. I wasn't that confident in my ability and felt that my acting would only hinder the quality of the show. That should've been the end of it.

"...

"Yet, it wasn't because Stan is nothing but stubborn, and I can't help loving him for it. He sat down next to me and gave me an encouraging talk. He said that I'm much better than I think I am and this would be a chance to prove those words to be true. He then...he then told me that he would love to be able to work with me on set, and that accepting the role would save the CGI crew some time. At that point, I couldn't refuse, so I was welcomed as the actor of 'Stanford Pines'. And I have to say, I don't regret that decision," the scientist reminisced during a behind-the-scenes interview.

Ford is usually quiet unless a topic of his interest is brought up or he's speaking to a person he enjoys conversating with. He's extremely fond of academics and has been found to help the younger actors with any educational assistance they require; whether that be a math problem they don't understand or an in-depth lesson on theme.

Now, this part is purely theorizing, but many people suspect that he has some kind of past relation to popular actor, William (actor of "Bill Cipher"). Despite the two claiming to not be familiar with the other, they seem to avoid each other specifically out of all of the cast members β€” even on their supposed 'first day' of meeting! William is more subtle, suddenly being reminded of things and gaining convenient excuses to leave the room. Ford, meanwhile, just slips away once the yellow triangle comes near. However, please remember that this is pure suspicion and not anything valid, so do with this information as you please.

β€”Presenting "Actor Falls" AUβ€”

So, as far as I am aware, no one has done an actor AU solely for Gravity Falls. Orxinus and Fazfuri do have a collab actor AU, however it's based off of their AU's exclusively and not the show itself. So, I decided to become the (maybe) first one to create one for Gravity falls.

General Gist:

My AU "Actor Falls" is set within a "Who Framed Roger Rabbit"/"Once Upon a Studio" type universe where humans and toons act together to create cartoons and fictional entertainment. Dipper, Mabel, Stan, Fiddleford, Ford and the rest of the human cast of Gravity Falls are, well, humans. Bill, the henchmaniacs, and all of the other supernatural creatures, meanwhile, are toons β€” cartoon characters who exist as real people in the world. They are all employed by the company Disney to work on the series.

Stanley and Stanford are biological, identical twins (just like how they are in the series), while Dipper and Mabel aren't actually related. They didn't know each before being cast with their roles, but quickly developed a close bond as if they were genuinely siblings. Bill and the Axolotl also don't have powers of any sort; the amphibian isn't truly a god, and two-dimensional triangle isn't a dream demon.

Background Information:

In order to avoid weirdness, I'm not going to include any of the people who genuinely worked on the show in my AU. Instead, GF was written by Mickey Mouse and Oswald the Lucky Rabbit. They decided to project the evolution of their brotherly bond and relationship into the story β€” Mickey unintentionally ruining Oswald's chance for success, causing an accident that destroyed his brother's life, Oswald resenting him for decades, and the two of them coming together in order to defeat a threat larger than life. Everything that happened in "Epic Mickey" actually occurred, and Mickey had the game created out of the events in order to restore Oswald's heart by reintroducing him to the public. They won't be the focus of the AU, but they're still part of it as the writers of Gravity Falls in-universe.

In-Depth Details:

Originally, they were just going to have Stan act as a double for the mysterious other twin in the story and green-screen an extra pair of fingers on. That was until Stan told them that – conveniently β€” he had a twin with polydactyly. He discussed the idea of becoming an actor for the series to Ford and he was hesitant about it at first, unsure of how well of one he would be. However, with some encouragement from his brother and reminders that his acceptance would benefit everyone, Ford ultimately ended up agreeing to the role.

Unfortunately, once he started working he found out that Bill also happened to be an actor for the series. They're canonly exes in this AU. They used to date in secret because of the strong public hate towards human/toon relationships. But, in the end, the lingering guilt of doing something so 'wrong' caused them to break up. They still long for the other, but will never openly admit it. Not yet, at least.

The two of them have a mutual, silent agreement to keep their romantic past hidden, in fear of wrecking their reputations. Bill is better at masking his disdain and remaining love, since he's a professional actor, but Ford struggles, being the newbie. This ends up causing rumors and gossip about the two of them currently dating. This certainly isn't helped by their dymanic in the show and how they seem to put extra emotion into certain scenes.

Stan: "What was it?"

Ford: "A triangle."

I still can’t paint water very well, but I had fun nonetheless! EDIT: Ooh, I almost forgot! Stan’s line in the 2nd panel was thought up by @punkoz!

I guess I’m combining hyperfixations here but I literally cannot get the idea out of my mind & have to word-vomit it somewhere:

Wouldn’t it be wild if Ford had some sort of severance procedure sometime in his portal era as a way to try & stop Bill from possessing his body all the time? And what if the β€œinnie” version of Ford was the one who came through the portal? & went through Weirdmaggedon? & had all those experiences? & then one day on the Stan O’ War II he just…wakes up as his β€œoutie” somehow. He’s so confused & disoriented because that version of him is still in the portal. That version of him doesn’t realize he’s much older now. That version of him is still in survival mode. & the moment he sees Stan he’s confused, paranoid, distrustful. Imagine all the progress the Stan Twins had made just suddenly disappearing because of it.

FINNALY SOMEONE TALKS ABOUT ITTTTTT OP THANKKKYOUUUYYYY

way you worded it so amazingly makes me sick.

fandom needs to talk more about the fact that ford phisically wouldn't be able to keep the right track of time. Like, he defenelty kept (somewhat) track of it purely judging by his feelings, but you know, every dimension got it's own time with different pace, you literally can't trust ANYTHING besides your senses. And imagine finding out that even that was wrong.

trying to hold onto something you don't understand anymore, just because you don't want to lose yourself to it.

y'all don't understand how much of an effect can "not understanding" time cause on a persons mind, and now he has to recalibrate his wrongly adapted sense because he's on earth he doesn't have to run and be on the move like always. But even now - looking at the clock still feels so wrong because his body and his sense built over the years tells him OTHERWISE.

Hard to trust something you didn't had for years

he kept his own track of time but if you ask me: he never really fully processed how limited it us for human species (how short human life is, overall. Dealing and facing immortal or long living creatures for a fair amount of time makes you forget that you're absolutely nothing in their presence)

he ran and ran and ran and ran but now he doesn't have to.

Finnaly, now you can actually think through stuff, and slowly realize you spent your given time - surviving, rather than living. and it hurts like hell.

It's really hard to trust something you didn't had for years.

your life, your time and your lifelong plans wasted for what?

For this?

At least now he got someone by his side in the end.

now Stanley finally got his brother back.

he can stop trying to pretend to be someone he's not, and live a life, HIS OWN life. Alongside someone that truly cares and worries about him.

Strange isn't it.

Do you think Ford knew how old he was when he came back? Because I don't think so.

He's been all around the multiverse, in places that definitely didn't follow the laws of physics of his home dimension. Time works differently depending on the place he lands on, and he never gets used to any of them because he knows he'll have to leave sooner or later.

So time passes. He can feel himself age, of course, but he doesn't know how long it's been since he fell through the portal. When he looks at himself in the mirror, he can see wrinkles paired with new scars, and his hair is getting grayer, but that could simply be a sign of stress. And sure, his body hurts when he wakes up, but he's constantly on the move and sleeping anywhere he can, obviously he's not going to be in the best shape! All things considered, he's a pretty fit man for any age, and whatever years he's been alive for is not his priority right now.

When he comes back home, after his first encounter with Stan, he finally gets a moment to think about his new and old family. His brother looks older, obviously, and certainly different from what he imagined (not that he thought about him often, of course not). His hair is whiter than his own, and he has even more wrinkles than him! Just how badly was he taking care of himself in the... how many years... wait, did he say 30?!

I don't think Ford was necessarily thinking of a higher or lower number. I don't think he expected anything more or less: the way he sees it, it could've been anywhere from 10 to 1000 years. Time was meaningless between dimensions. I think that the sole reminder that time still passed was what got to him.

That shock came full force after Weirdmageddon, when he realized that Stan was his same age, despite the differences in their physiques. It was the fact that they were both around 60 years old, and they had been apart for 40 years. Two whole thirds of their lives. They were supposed to grow old together, maybe not in the same house (or boat), but close to each other. That, paired with how old and worn down Stan looks, Ford can't help but feel like he's now years younger than him, and he hates thinking about it because with the way Stan had been living for the last 40 years, just how much longer- no, stop, don't think about it.

Ford's paranoia turns into hypochondria, but towards his brother. This translates as Ford desperately trying to cut Stan's bad habits (such as alcohol and smoking), making sure he eats well (Ford can't cook for shit) and semi-forcing him to do some exercise. Stan is not on board with these measures, and he lets his brother know just that because he's being bossy and annoying and he would like to enjoy his amnesia in peace please. Ford is as stubborn as a mule, but eventually he gives up and just begs Stan to please consider some of his suggestions because he wants him to be better. Stan still refuses, but every once in a while Ford catches him doing some exercise by himself or ordering a non alcoholic drink, and it makes him happy.

When they return to Gravity Falls, the twins look the most identical they've looked since they were like 10: Stan's eyes have a shine that Soos had never seen before, and his new and improved posture makes him look taller, like the weight of the world had been lifted off of him. Ford, on the other hand, has a fuller face and body, his expression is now softer and somewhat kinder, and he walks much more carelessly, like he's strolling instead of marching.

Ford doesn't care how old he is anymore, because now he's growing old next to his brother.

Young Ford Literally Shoved That Journal In Stanleys Hands, Giving Him No Other Choice Other Than Accept
Young Ford Literally Shoved That Journal In Stanleys Hands, Giving Him No Other Choice Other Than Accept

Young Ford literally shoved that journal in Stanleys hands, giving him no other choice other than accept it and just do what he was told, while later on Ford held out their childhood picture, waiting till Stan accepted it himself.

"can you give me one more chance?"

Young Ford Literally Shoved That Journal In Stanleys Hands, Giving Him No Other Choice Other Than Accept
Young Ford Literally Shoved That Journal In Stanleys Hands, Giving Him No Other Choice Other Than Accept

Ford pulling out that journal from the left side of his coat which represents logic, but then after the development - pulling out their childhood picture from the right side, which represents feelings.

I'm talking about brain Hemispheres, whose side of the brain is responsible and dominant for one exact action.

Yes, this topic can be arguable, because, from viewers perspective their right is our left and the opposite, BUT

above I spoke from our perspective, but even in such switched around context you can easily adjust this statement.

Young Ford pulled out that journal from HIS right side because he was acting up on his feelings. He was in pain, he was suffering simply for trusting someone, which resulted in getting pathenically used and manipulated, and only hope he had left was to reach out to his brother, whom he openly loved and cared about at some point.

Older Ford reaches out their childhood picture from HIS left side, because believe it or not he's finally rational. He sees the full picture and decides to make the RIGHT decision.

THAT'S the result of making the right choice. The difference in the reaction is everything for me.

Young Ford Literally Shoved That Journal In Stanleys Hands, Giving Him No Other Choice Other Than Accept

(it took him lil over 40 years + to witness and get tortured at the end of the world by one eyed demon...... that man is too much of a stubborn and vindictive hoe.)

This post is getting too long but I wanna address my opinion towards Fords "right" choice/desicion I mentioned above.

Right choice wasn't to go sailing with his brother, but rather than to make up with him.

None of them were fully right and none of them were fully wrong, it's complicated and that's what I adore about their characters.

Ford is flawed in the head, which was supposed to represent his brilliance and superiority

While Stan is flawed in the heart, which was supposed to represent his so on "grumpy" and "unloving" nature for the whole show.

Both of them were hurt, and none of them knew where to properly direct it, which at the end caused the incident with the portal.

Bonus:

Young Ford Literally Shoved That Journal In Stanleys Hands, Giving Him No Other Choice Other Than Accept

Stanley raised his hand to reach out for his bro only AFTER Stanford closed the curtains on him, which means Ford probably continued looking at the whole thing, quietly peeking from his window, not to dare and go against their fathers desicion.

He basically has the image of his strong, firm, and hotheaded brother looking at him full of heartbreak, imprinted in his head, and won't even allow himself to forget it. Even after 10 whole years.

He can't forget, he didn't deserve to forget it.

Guilt does a lot to a person, both of them were guilty, and also both of them were stubborn, which means that none of them will or would ever admit it.

I HAD to get this out of my system even if someone probably said it before me I deeply apologize you had to whitness that

This panel always kills me

This Panel Always Kills Me

because, like, the first thought is no, they do not, the babies are doomed by the narrative and their lives will soon enough be ruined by the many issues that are already festering, even when they think everything's fine. But they don't know and are both filled with so much optimism, which is the tragedy of it all.

But also the next panel is like "well, at some point they do decide to adventure for the rest of their lives. So it's a happy ending and everything is fine". Completely ignoring the elephant in the room that is 40 years of these boys' lives lol
