Emperor!Hunter

after the gangTM deals with the collector and. Belos. The boiling isle is going to have no ruler and be recovering from the collector’s games. I bet there’s going to be at least some people who are like “we should follow monarchy rules and let Hunter be emperor.”

Would it happen? No probably not. But it would be funny watching our favorite traumatized boi try to skirt responsibility (mostly cause he doesn’t think he should be in charge), trying to prove that he shouldn’t be Emperor.

some Belos loyalist, thinking that they can use Hunter to regain their political power: the boy should be king!! It’s his divine right!

Hunter, the “boy” in question, who can barely remember to feed himself and hasn’t slept in the past four days: …why???

A high effort shit post based off of this post I saw a while back and tagged Hunter core.

In terms of the belos saying "I love you" I feel like he said it once and exactly once, and it was the day he was sworn in as the guard but he didn't mean it to Hunter, he meant it to the mask, this was done so that Hunter would only want to be the guard

Belos saying “I love you” but only to the symbol and Hunter mistaking it for him. How happy Hunter would be at the words while Belos doesn’t even acknowledge it.

To me, I never saw Belos saying “ I love you.” He only ever loved the idea of the Golden Guard or the perfect replacement but never actually loved it in execution if you get what I mean. He seems more like the type to say “The Titan blessed me with a nephew.” or “appreciate your presence” or some flowery crap like that.

In the drawing it was Hunter grabbing onto Belos and saying “I love you” because the poor child is desperate and exhausted while Belos stands there surprised and doesn’t hug him back.

Though now I’m imagining a BoJack Horseman ICU moment where Hunter is talking to his friends and realizes Belos never said “I love you” to him but to the mask.

Imagine an AU where Belos is imprisoned after Titan Luz defeats him rather than killed.

Then one day Hunter comes to visit him in his prison and he asks if Belos ever thought he could have been happy with him.

And (and I know this would be OOC for him) Belos can't bring himself to answer. He would gladly say no just to make Hunter feel bad, or maybe even say yes to manipulate him, but he actually finds himself lost for words.

Hmmm, this is outside of what you asked but I wonder if Belos did have any sort of love for Hunter.

It’s already stated that Belos created Hunter as a toddler. It’s still unconfirmed if he made any other baby grimwalkers. I’m also pretty sure it was confirmed that he experimented on grimwalkers too, so not every grimwalker was a Golden Guard. So I’m going to assume all the previous Golden Guards where older teens to adults. I wonder if he had any attachment to Hunter, I mean he was around since he was basically a baby. It’s hard to imagine not having some fondness for something like that but again this is Belos.

I see different thoughts on why Belos created the grimwalkers, some say it was Belos way of justifying himself and reliving the betrayal over and over, it was genuinely to get an ideal version of Caleb, to have a new brother to take care of him, ect. I genuinely wonder if Belos ever loved a grimwalker, maybe the early ones but that was hundreds of years ago and that’s still a maybe.

He hallucinates Caleb looking down on him, disappointed. He knows subconsciously that what he doing is wrong but he’s too far deep into his delusion that he’s saving mankind from these sinful witches.

In the end they are just tools, an uncanny replacement for the brother he murdered and never got over.

But at the same time he did express disappointment at Hunter not lasting, the collector also question why he didn’t kill Hunter when he had the chance to after eclipse lake which is odd if Hunter is so replaceable. That he genuinely believed that Hunter would stay in line and be his most loyal one.

Actually now that I think about it, Hunter never betrayed Belos explicitly. He only rebelled in small ways like studying wild magic, making friends and having a palismen which Lilith also had. Hunter only nearly got killed because he found out the truth but Belos never gave him the chance to plead for mercy or the option to come back. Who knows if Hunter would have gone back if he was given the chance, Belos could have at least attempted to manipulate him to believing what he saw was fake or something.

He says their betrayals hurt but never shows it. While I do think the grimwalkers are set for failure since the start, he might have had hope that Hunter would have lasted since this one he actually raised this one and the fact that Hunter was actually loyal and devoted to him. It hurts how much this kid loves him.

Idk if the other grimwalkers were tricked to believing Belos was their family or something but Hunter loved him like a father figure and wanted his approval so badly and Belos knew this.

To your hypothetical, imprisoned Belos Au are interesting but something you don’t see often. I think he would spend a lot of time pondering, praying and wondering what if’s. Considering there’s not much to do when you’re locked up. He allowed himself to live in ignorance and hate for so long, was it even worth it? Could have he been happy in a place like the boiling isles? What if he never killed Caleb? What if he never left the human realm? What if he never made a daring spell? Why did he make coven again? What if he gave which kind a chance…? What if he never abused his grimwalkers? It all too crazy and he’s spiraling.

Hunter visits one day despite being told it not a good idea. But how could he not? Despite being abused and hurt in unfathomable ways by him, he still loves him in sick way. He was his only family for so long, that man who kept him isolated. He still fantasizes about being fussed over and loved by Belos, still has ‘fond’ memories of him. So to Belos surprise, the Grimwalker he once killed and abused is now sitting in front of him, ready to chat.

They talk for a bit, Hunter tells him a bit about the outside word and the changes made. He isn’t aggressive or confrontational, he couldn’t be even if he wanted to. Belos stays silent, unsure of what to say. Most grimwalkers expressed hatred before death, yet this one who he actually once killed was chatting with him like it was a normal day. Hunter is terrified but he keeps chatting, pretending this is fine. Belos tries to make his own comments and redirect the conversations but can’t. He lost for words because he’s in a situation not even he foresaw. He expected rage, ridicule or even tears but not this. Hunter was talking to him like he was still family.

I imagine Hunter, in his ill mind, still thinking of Belos as family. Still someone he wants to love despite everything. That he often thinks of him even on good days.

Soon Hunter asks that question if Belos could have ever been happy with him, if he ever loved him. Hunter believes that answer is no, he was already marked for the slaughter with that sigil, a dead man walking. Even if he wants that answer so badly to be yes.

And Belos can’t answer because he’s already thought of this. Could he have been happy with Hunter? Was he fond of Hunter? Was Hunter just a replacement? Was he a good replacement? Could he have loved him outside of being a replacement? Was there any love for the child he raised?

He could say no and hurt Hunter, the ‘love’ was always conditional, he was just a tool, was meant to be dead, ect. (But that might drive Hunter away and Belos is lonely)

He could say yes and give Hunter false hope, manipulate him, make him take pity, revive that old loyalty, ect. (He could get caught in this monitored state and get his only loyal companion ripped away)

But he can’t answer because he doesn’t know. It’s been so long since he had loved. He hated for far too long, he got rid of any chance to love. Was it possible to be happy with Hunter? Just him being Hunter and not some tool or replacement?

Idk this concept is good, I genuinely wonder what would have happened if Belos did actually love Hunter. I don’t think he does or ever did, he was just upset that his tools broke faster than he thought it would but it’s an interesting thought. I think if Belos and Hunter did start to bond in this Au, everything would be bittersweet in the worse ways.

I wonder if he ever said those words. If he ever said it back. Likely no.

I’ve had these two in my head for a bit. I must confess their relationship in the show is something that has intrigued me like no other and is something I seek in the fandom. In my time in consuming media, specifically cartoons, you often see unhealthy or abusive relationships. It’s fairly common now. But Belos and Hunter will always be the most visceral to me.

Hunter seeking comfort in Belos will always be the best angst. Hunter is my favorite character but in a way so is Belos. I have a love hate relationship with that hag.

Okok thinking about the Ghoul Hunter AU and wondering how would the TTT possession play out.

Hunter had been suppressing his hunger and instincts for months and now Belos is in control.

Does he get the same bloodlust as Hunter? Is he able to control it and does he even want to? Does he use Hunter's jaws made for ripping and tearing flesh do to just that to his friends?

Does Hunter have to explain afterwards that the mauling wasn't a side-effect of the possession, not Belos' doing, but an urge Hunter is actively trying to stop himself from acting on day after day?

By the time the possession happened, Hunter would be months without a full meal.

However this wouldn’t be the first time Hunter lashes out as his friends, that would be another time before :3. When the possession happens, the hexsquad would be aware of Hunters tendencies and bit of backstory but not the completed and ugly picture. Hunter censors himself a lot around them, never wanting to expose them to his violence and hating himself for any violence he commits against them or in front of them.

Anyways, when Belos possess him, he is overwhelmed with months worth of bloodlust and hunger. Belos felt hunger and lack of control due to his own past and curse but he was never prepared by overwhelming power of it in Hunter. So unlike canon where Belos has his focus on Titan blood, he’s overwhelmed by hunger and fights with the intent to eat.

It’s shocking, when he possesses Hunter at first with how much hunger and pain he feels as seen in the first image, he didn’t expect it and he can’t control it. So rather than mocking or in control, he’s reduced to a ravenous beast, snarling and salivating with Hunter oh so desperately trying to take back control.

These are also more like concept sketches because I do intend on having more drawings of this particular scene. Belos really thought possessing Hunter would be easy, bro forgot Hunter was used to starving and suppressing urges. :33

I see lots of fanfics that talk about the Grimwalker stories and myths as Grimwalkers being these predators that hunt witches and are these monster that feed off of flesh, but all of these are usually false and like I said just myths.

So what if that wasn’t the case? What if Grimwalkers were the flesh craving beasts everyone thinks they are. Aka me giving Hunter the Tokyo Ghoul treatment (kinda)

This image takes place during Thanks to Them, he’s hunting and consuming animals to sustain himself but they can only do so much. He keeps it a secret because he’s ashamed, scared and full of self loathing. Unfortunately you can only sneak out and wash your clothes so frequently until you get caught.

The craving flesh started around the time Hunter started hitting his second stage of puberty, so around 12 to 13 years old. It started off as spouts of aggression, weight loss and odd carvings that he suppressed until he eventually snapped and attacked a scout. Once he consumed flesh, there was no going back.

This happened with a few Grimwalkers, typically one made around pubescent years due to this being a natural development. Grimwalkers who are made as adults don’t get this since get miss that developmental period. A reason why Belos made Grimwalkers strictly adults for hundreds of years before trying out a new experiment.

When Belos made Hunter, he was aware of this and rather than kill Hunter off or just make an adult Grimwalker, he decided he can benefit from a “monster” needing a source of food.

Hence, Hunter picking up a reputation for being “feral.” Belos supplies Hunter with blood and flesh but not enough to satisfy him, just the minimum to keep him alive. This is to keep Hunter at a state where he’s willing to do more work to earn more food but unfortunately this just results in cases of Hunter going “too far” aka mauling different beings (witches, beasts, demons, ect) during missions on the accounts he’s literally starving and being triggered in fights.

He can eat normal food but his sense of taste is bit dull and doesn’t give him the nutrition he needs. He can eat and eat and it will do nothing. He learns to satisfy himself through eating animals he hunts during missions. When he gets to the human realm he eats his food with an overwhelming amount of seasoning just to taste it.

He also has a very strong jaw and sharp teeth, like hyena type stuff.

(Imagine a scenario he pauses a mission mid way to go hunt some voles and eat them raw and the scouts just standing there like-)

After Hollow mind Hunter struggles because now he’s has little source of witch or demon flesh (he raids the healing classes for blood and kitchen for uncooked meat)

So during thanks to them he’s forced to live with three witches, a basilisk, two humans who are somewhat similar to witches and oh boy he struggles. His friends are concerned. Camila notices Hunter eats a lot but still looks like he isn’t gaining weight, Gus notices that he sneaks out, Vee smells something wrong with him, Luz sees how on edge he is, Amity catches on to his burst of aggression (caused by hunger and stress) and Willow notices he avoids them.

They all already knows something is off with him (heightened senses, unusual teeth and jaw strength, glowing eyes, unusually tight and powerful muscles despite how gaunt he is) but only Luz knows he’s a grimwalker but hasn’t quite put the peices that’s he’s a unnatural, natural predator to witches and demons. The witches, Vee and even the humans feel a slight primal fear around Hunter but they can’t quite put the reason why, he puts them on edge even if they love him but something’s off.

Despite the fact that all of them are willing to give him blood, even some flesh if they could, the boy just refuses, since he sees himself as a literal monster that needs to be locked up.

This is me giving Hunter Grimwalker trauma x100. Anywho this is my late Halloween post aka my billionth AU idea. This was inspired by Tokyo Ghoul, Ginger snaps(2000) and the fic [redacted] Hunter by ApaMonkey on ao3! Yall should read it!

I have a weakness for flesh craving characters who aren’t villains but they aren’t so common so of course I had to project that love to my own skrunkly!

Hunter was able to take lead in forcing sigils upon the students and succeeded, now the day of unity stakes are higher. Luckily he isn’t like Adrian and at least provided them the matching sigils to their track…the multi-track students are given sigils based on the original chosen classes on record.

Now they will be affected by the draining spell, Hunter is convinced he did something for the greater good and is proud. This will cause so much conflict in the future.

So in belos’ memories theres a scene of either a bonfire or someone burning at the stake. Imma say burning at the stake for the sake of this.

So Belos-Phillip ig-is british right?

What happened in britian years ago?

The witch trials.

What if in this universe, the demon and human realm used to be one cohesive world, but because of the humans starting to kill every witch, the witches made their own dimension and dipped. This all happened during Phillips life. 

So he as a shitty evil child is like “Oh the witches think they can escape? Hahahaha, No.” So he uses his brother who he knows is dating a witch-Clawthorne-to get to the demon realm. He kills his brother cause....idfk he’s Belos he does shitty things.

He pretends to look for help only to kill the witches who offer it. Now he’s making the sigils to rid them of all their power and ‘evil’ or whatever.

Philip Wittebane in Elsewhere and Elsewhen is a sad pathetic wet little meow meow. Emperor Belos is a sad pathetic wet little babygirl. Kid Philip is a feral gremlin with attachment issues. Monster Belos is a feral gremlin with anger issues. Does this make sense to anyone but me.

Okay so in response to this post about The Owl House I have a few thoughts…

(Ngl I had originally put all of this into @emotional-mess-in-distress’s comment section for the original post but ended up being, like, 6 or 7 individual comments so I thought a post would just be better. Also none of this is canon-obviously-but these are just some of my thoughts and theories that I wanted to share and would love to see other people’s thoughts and opinions on it as well 😁)

What if Phillip’s brother (pretty sure that the brother’s name is Caleb because that’s what Flapjack told Hunter to call himself in Any Sport in a Storm so imma go with Caleb) stayed longer in the demon realm than Phillip? we don’t see the effect that time may have on Luz yet but we know that Phillip/Belos has been living for ages. Maybe time/aging is slower in the demon realm. If Caleb spent more time in demon realm while Phillip went back to the human realm then that could explain the aging differences as well as why some reasons behind the discrepancies.

Like maybe the jump in his own age between Phillip’s memories was because it was a dedicated sections of his memories with his brother (like how the first level of his mind was a hall of his lies, maybe there are multiple sections of the mind dedicated to the most meaningful parts of their lives. Like how Willow’s mind had so many memories of her and amity but in that same section of her brain there weren’t memories of any other friends or family?) So if the mind has specific sections for each person then the gaps in age could be explained that he simply was not with Caleb again until he came back to the demon realm. This could be caused by Caleb staying in the demon realm for his wife, which could give Phillip more of a personal reason for hating witches. Not only were they considered evil by humans, but a witch took his brother away from him, causing Phillip to grow up without his older brother, ergo the memory age gaps and his personal spite.

The wife follows him after Caleb’s death. She curses him. She also hides the door to punish Phillip for taking away her husband/father of her child(ren). Now he’s cursed in the demon realm, left to live out his days to regret what he did. Instead of accepting responsibility, he blames her and all witches and that mentality drives his every action. Not only is this section of his mind dedicated to his brother but is also dedicated to the true birth of Belos and his deep-seated hatred for witches.

I’m not entirely sure why Flapjack isn’t depicted in his memory. Maybe the palismen souls reframed or edited his memories so that Flapjack is cut out in order to protect their fellow palisman or maybe Phillip wasn’t focused on Flapjack so he doesn’t remember him.

And about the book/statue, it could be that these depictions are going off of Phillip’s lies since he has a habit of lying to make himself look better. I’m thinking he told the town that he and his brother were heroes, bravely going to the demon realm to hunt witches (ergo Hunter’s name) but sadly his brother was lost in the demon realm. Phillip looks like a hero when he returns to the human realm after surviving the demon realm unlike his brother and a martyr when he doesn’t make it back after going back for his brother. Boom.
