Dive into your creative stream
The "true" things you need to read about if you want to start practicing witchcraft
● Read about it's History - also depends on where you live. Start on your roots. Search and study about your country's tradition, culture and ancient practices before going to other non-close beliefs, that interests you.
● Types of practices - Be careful on diving to some closed practices. I do not encourage this but since it can't be helped, just be mindful of what you're doing. Research! Every practice has do's and don'ts. Learn to respect the "authenticity" of these practices.
● Study a bit of science - science and magick co-exist. Dont just mix anything with everything. Study what herbs and plants are safe to use for kitchen witchery or making oils and other stuffs. Study what crystals can be poisonous when mixed with water etc. Also study a little bit about the science of energies and frequency as this will be fundamental with meditation. Lastly, study the possible reactions of raw materials to be used in doing witchy stuffs before doing anything else. Remember, better safe than sorry.
This 3 topics are what I recommend based on my experience in the practice for 6 years (still counting)...
I suggested this, because this topics will help you to cover the basics of the practice. I consider this as base study before actually studying the fundamentals. Now, if you don't agree, i respect that, just don't impose your bullshit on meh. 🥴
and i need to address a few things, as well. i'm a pretty neutral page, and being uplifting to those just starting out in their practice is something i enjoy doing. positivity and encouragement is extremely important.
i've been seeing a lot of "you're a real witch when___" lately
no. just no.
you're a real witch regardless if you're self sufficient or not. look up spells if it's needed, find a mentor if it's needed, educate and find yourself with your pace. it does not mean you're any less.
you're a real witch if you don't have a grimoire, or you don't have your spells memorized.
you're a real witch if you fall into depression and find it hard to practice. make sure your deities know this, find little ways to keep them happy.
you're a real witch, regardless of race, sexuality, whether you're just starting out or you've been practicing for years.
you're a real witch if you're not gatekeeping.
don't discourage our young witches. they need reassurance too. there is no wrong or right way to practice, as long as you're aware of which practices are closed and shouldn't be used unless you're from that heritage.
you're a witch, period. stop telling people that they have to fit a certain criteria to be a "real witch"
self care is going into a thrift store and buying random items that work well with your craft. jars, bowls, candle holders, spice shelves, otherwise nonwitchy objects that can easily be personalized. i've bought some of my most favorite alter items from thrift stores.
it's a surreal feeling. and i wanna feel it again.
your grimoire does not have to be full of water colors, or illustrations, or dried plants, or essential oil infused ink. your pages do not have to be pristine, you don't have to include aesthetic tapes, or pretty polaroids.
you're allowed to mess up. your grimoire can have tears, or burns, or coffee stains, or wrinkled pages from the time you spilled your tea all over the place. it can be written in .5 mechanical pencil led or crayon.
the point is, your grimoire is apart of you. and if you love it, then you're doing it right.

Hi friends~
I hate being that person to ask for anything in life BUT I have rent due next week and due to life being… well life, I unfortunately do not have enough to pay it.
I’m in between jobs, having health issues I’ve been having to pay out of pocket for and having to take care of my sick cat. All of this has absolutely drained my wallet. I don’t like asking for hand outs, but I’ve been working my butt off between dog sitting and door dashing trying to make up bills, but I’m just not there yet.
Because I don’t like asking for hand outs just for nothing, I’m also willing to do tarot readings, pendulum readings and even work on art commissions! (Art commissions may take a little a time due to work and such).
I’m also opening my shop sometime in the next few weeks, but it’s unfortunately after rent is due, since I need to buy a few more supplies in order to finish pieces so any extra money will go towards that.
The littlest bit can help and I appreciate anyone who can give a little!

I have made a discord server for witches! My goal is to create a safe space for fellow witches to make friends and share knowledge!
I 100% want to keep this a safe space! We are LGBT+ inclusive and welcome all practices and all experience levels!
We are fresh and new! I can’t wait to see how much this server grows!
Hello Friends!! ~
After so much debate with myself, I finally opened a witchy etsy shop! Currently I’m selling tarot readings and mini spell jars! I plan on creating a bunch of helpful docs to share! I’m so excited to add lots more to my shop and make wonderful things for you!
I’ll also be adding snippets of my documents on my blog, but the full versions will be available on my shop once they are completed! In the future I’ll add a few supplies to my shop as well as starter witch kits!
Hello, baby witch here,
I’ve been doing witchcraft for about 4 or so years, i’m still very much learning and have taken breaks here and there from my craft. I still have a ton of questions and lots of research to do.There is something though I’m just generally curious about and feel often.
Sometimes while doing spell work I can feel a presence, usually, behind me. This presence doesn’t feel threatening or anything, just kinda like their watching, which can definitely make me nervous to mess up.
I’m just curious if anyone else has ever felt this or may know what this presence may possibly be. Is there something I should be doing to protect myself? Should I be worried or is this something good? Would love to hear what others think!
Sometimes it can be a little difficult to love, especially ourselves. So awhile back when I was struggling with this the most, I came up with a little spell that helped me. This spell is simple and beginner friendly. This is also a spell that may be done as needed. Perfect for full moons, but as our emotions are strong, you can do this anytime you feel you may need it.
Supplies you’ll need:
- Pink or white candle
- Paper and pen
- Fire safe bowl
- Rose quartz, or any crystal you resonate with (optional)
The Spell:
🌹 On a piece of paper, write down any negative thoughts that you are currently having pertaining to yourself or self image.
🌹Take the paper and burn it. Drop the paper into the fire safe bowl and as it burns, imagine what you wrote burning away with it. Let those thoughts disappear with the paper. Take as long as you need with this before moving onto the next step.
🌹 On a new piece of paper, write down some positive things about yourself. If you’re having trouble in this moment coming up with something positive, take a little longer to meditate. If I find myself struggling with this part I write, “ I am loving, I am loved, and I deserve love.” Allow yourself to see this as true.
🌹 Lastly, keep this paper, along with a crystal (if chosen to work with one), under your pillow throughout the night. You may also keep this paper close with you on your person as needed.
Take some time to care for yourself. Remember you are human, allow yourself to be upset, but remember you are powerful and magical. ❤
I’m an Aquarius rising and this was spot on.
Hi, can you do aqua rising culture?
Hey!
I did talk about Aquarius Rising women before!
💚 💚They are badass, uncompromising queens who independently do so much stuff. Much like Aries girls (they are leaders) but with more tact and dettachment. 💚 They have quirky, unusual, bold styles and clothing. Whatever their style is, they rock it and make sure it’s uniquely them. Like not two Aqua Rising girls have similar style. Each one is their own. 💚 They can be like a more open, people focused Scorpio. They have amazing research skills! 💚 They really seem to be into space, astronomy fun facts or space art?? 💚 Can be vegetarian/vegan or have a specific food diet. It usually corelates with their ethical view on certain subjects. Ask them and they will tell you about it. 💚 Much like sister Air sign Libra, they are big on fairness. 💚 High chance they smoke weed in order to alter consciousness or to combat nervous mental energy. They can be prone to anxiety, restlessness or being scatter minded. 💚 The ones to make digital art or be fond of fantasy characters, creatures, anime protagonists, fan fic characters, idols, certain members of hard rock/metal bands. 💚 Usually dislike mainstream artists, claim they are into underground/not very known artists and bands. 💚 Often they had at least one humanitarian life experience, like volunteering in a homeless shelter, giving out free meals, helping build houses or teach children abroad. 💚 I noticed some can be fashion conscious. Meaning they try to trift items, resell them, use second hand or even sew their own! They would also be the ones to love sustainable fashion and being fashion-forward. 💚 Weirdly, they can quickly jump on certain fashion trends. This has to do with how Aquarius deals with the collective. However, they make sure they stand out in the group. But they would dress in trend of subcultures, fan bases, friend groups or underground musicians/bands they associate themselves with. 💚 Also they LOVE band T-shirts! 💚 Have probably been into hard rock/metal or EDM at least once at a certain point in their life. 💚 Probably been really emo too back in the 2003 (or still is)! I hope this didn’t sound like a roast, though??🤔 I have huge respect for them! 😉😀
🗝 i recently got a new place and i’ve been coming up with all sorts of new wards and such for the new space (which has been so fun ahh) so i figured why not make a little list of things i’ve noticed have really great protective qualities for the home, i hope you guys find a few to string together for your personal home wards :)
- cinnamon; really great to shake up the energies after having troublesome visitors and bringing back the warm and cozy vibes
- rosemary; good for lightly refreshing stale energies, great for a new space or whenever you feel like things are sort of just stagnant in the house
- most black stones; particularly onyx, tourmaline, kyanite, obsidian, etc, are all great for either repelling/absorbing negative energies, just make sure you research which does what because you’ll wanna cleanse the ‘absorbers’ regularly!
- black pepper; similar to cinnamon it’s really good at getting rid of lingering energies from visitors, i’d say it’s a bit stronger for things like banishing and renewal though :)
- english ivy; really great for integrating good energy into the home and keeping it there, brings a grounded and secure energy to a home
- cayenne; really any red pepper is great for keeping out unwanted energies, also serves as a great restart button for particularly aggressive energies
- thyme; encourages civility in a chaotic household
- cacti thorns; careful getting these! but they’re amazing for keeping out unwanted energies, i wouldn’t recommend for cleansing necessarily though
🗝 there’s definitely so many more but these are the ones i’m most familiar with at the moment, so i might make a pt.2 eventually once i experiment a bit more, i hope this was helpful!
People will often notice patterns to the cards they pull - you’ll notice that certain cards come up more often. This tends to be based on a feeling though, rather than any real data about which cards you’ve pulled - and the real data may surprise you.
I’ve kept track of the cards I’ve pulled in my single card readings over the past three months, and here are some things I’ve noticed:
I pull one card more frequently than any other card. In my case, that card is The Magician. It’s really useful to know - not just suspect - that one card turns up constantly for me.
Some cards don’t actually appear as frequently as I think they do. I recently pulled the Nine of Pentacles and thought, “Again?? Why do I pull this card so much??” but when I look at the actual data… I’ve pulled other cards way more frequently. I think it’s a form of the Baader-Meinhof effect - a card can stick in your brain for some reason and you remember it as appearing more often than it actually does!
There are interesting things about the cards that I don’t pull. In three months, these Major Arcana cards have never come up at all: The Emperor and The Devil. I can look at the data of what archetypes don’t appear in my life and draw some interesting conclusions. I’ve also not drawn a single court card (page, knight, queen, or king) from the suit of swords - swords tend to deal with conflict, which I maybe have less of during this particular time in my life
I can identify which suit and which numbered cards appear the most and the least in my readings. While the totals of Swords, Wands, Cups, and Pentacles I pull are pretty close to even, Wands eke out a little bit higher total than the others. Cups and Pentacles are tied, with Swords coming in last. If I didn’t have this data, I’d probably assume I pull Swords the most - because they leave the biggest impact on me when I do pull them! Of the numbered cards: I pull Aces of any suit the most, and Twos of any suit the least. This makes for some interesting patterns: The Magician is sort of the “Ace” of the Major Arcana, as well. Aces are about a very singular willpower whereas Twos are about partnership and duality. Through this pattern I can identify the focus the cards have on my life at this particular point in time.
I pull Major Arcana cards more than is statistically likely. The Major Arcana makes up 28% of the deck, but 39% of my pulls. The Major Arcana are more associated with long-term messages, and so my life may have more long-term type changes needing to be made during this period.
This is a quick guide to how you might interpret some of the overall themes you notice: Minor Arcana: temporary, easily changed, daily life, current situation Major Arcana: long term, archetypes, themes, life lessons, current lesson Wands: spirituality, inspiration, determination, strength, intuition, creativity, ambition and expansion; energy, motivation and passion. Cups: love, feelings, relationships and connection; emotions, intuition and creativity Swords: action, change, force, power, oppression, ambition, courage and conflict; thoughts, and words Pentacles: work, business, trade, property, money and other material possessions Aces: new beginnings, news, movement in a positive direction Twos: duality, connection Threes: creation, creativity, growth, action Fours: stability, structure Fives: tension, conflict, challenge Sixes: relaxation, harmony, reevaluation Sevens: mystery, disruption, adjustment Eights: action, movement, growth, change Nines: contemplation, reflection, looking to the next step Tens: conclusion, culmination, new beginnings, complexity Pages: youth, vitality, fascination, learning, and focus Knights: adventure, energy, missions, conviction, willfulness, recklessness Queens: curiosity, openness, expressiveness, creativity, flexibility Kings: authority, leadership, expertise, mastery, inflexibility
Let's start a helpful thread:

Of course, only put in your book of shadows/grimoire what you want. If you don't want to put certain subjects in your book then that's fine. It's your book, utilize it how you want. This is just a masterlist of ideas that I've put together. Feel free to add anything else to the list that I may have missed, because there's absolutely no way I included everything.
And for the love of all the gods, if you come across a closed entity or practice, don't try to work with the entity or practice if you're not already part of that group or tradition. You can research it but don't practice it.

A note: I very rarely do baneful spells, I believe strongly in do no harm but take no shit, and this man has been stalking and harassing one of my best friends for years at this point, she just got a restraining order against him and I told her I would do this.
So, I am putting him in the freezer.
Essentially, you are "icing" this person out of your life. It's less of a curse, more of freezing them in place, trapping them in their own energy.
At least, that's what I'm doing.
Water
Pen and paper
Vessel (opt?)
I'll admit this is my first time doing this, so things can probably be done a million different ways, I've seen people shove the name in a lemon and toss it in the freezer, or other such things, but this guy has plenty of negativity surrounding him.
Write the name of your victim on the piece of paper. Full name/social media handle, etc. I am using a post-it note and a sharpie.
Write your intention. I put "may you drown in your own negativity"
Wet down the paper or fill your vessel with water and stick the paper in. I'm envisioning you could use a freezer bag for this.
Toss it in your freezer and forget about it.
if you can't keep crystals, keep rocks but set them with whatever intentions you want.
On full moons, "accidentally" leave a glass of water near a windowsill, and use it quickly!
Draw sigils in hand soaps, sanitizers, and lotions when no one's looking.
Research how to use a regular deck of cards for tarot readings.
Draw pictures of offerings for your deity, and rip the paper to give it to them.
