A Day In The Life Of A Green Witch.

a day in the life of a green witch.

to honor nature and use it in our crafts.

it shows in the way we hang our herbs to the flowers strewn about our home. it's in everything we touch, and everything we see.

we respect nature, and the earth thanks us for it.

your grimoire does not have to be full of water colors, or illustrations, or dried plants, or essential oil infused ink. your pages do not have to be pristine, you don't have to include aesthetic tapes, or pretty polaroids.

you're allowed to mess up. your grimoire can have tears, or burns, or coffee stains, or wrinkled pages from the time you spilled your tea all over the place. it can be written in .5 mechanical pencil led or crayon.

the point is, your grimoire is apart of you. and if you love it, then you're doing it right.

the connection a witch has with nature is undeniable.

it's incredible, feeling at peace inside a humid forest.

it's unexplainable, feeling the energy underneath the water when you reach through it's current.

the connection we have is inside of everything. the sunshine, the rain, the call of the wind, the fire that keeps us warm— both inside and out.

we come from nature. we must treat her with respect.

when the sea calls to you, you must listen— for every embodiment of mother nature has something to say. that pull you feel is only natural. embrace it, and she will grace you with yet another whispered secret.

It's been a while...

Hi, all. I apologize for my absence. I know I went AWOL for what seems like forever. I've been going through a lot of bad stuff these past few years (still hanging on by a thread) but I'm hoping to come back and reconnect with my crafts and witchy communities. I noticed that lot of blogs that I used to follow are no longer active. So, if you're an active blog that touches on any of these witchy paths, I would appreciate it if you could throw a like or reblog this post so I could follow you! ✨Kitchen ✨Green ✨Lunar ✨Tech ✨Shadow work ✨Charms ✨Hexes & Curses ✨Hearth ✨Hedge ✨Tarot ✨Elemental ✨Spoonie I'm looking to expand my old crafts and explore new ones. Thanks all and hope to get reacquainted soon. 🖤

You know what I never understood about people? Their intense fear of death while autumn being their favourite season. Autumn literally shows us how natural death is and how beautiful it can be. Each leaf served a purpose and falls to lay to rest. Out of the decay forms new life.

✨ Major Arcana Meanings ✨

Hello!! In this post I’ll explain the meaning of the major arcana (rider Waite). They are the product of many years using the tarot, reading many books, practicing etc. Remember that tarot is an art and like all art it needs time and sacrifice to improve. Don’t get so attached to books and keywords, use your most powerful tool which is intuition. Look at the spread as if it was a movie, observe how the cards influence one another, put yourself in the shoes of the figures, observe the colors, composition, facial expressions, poses and what they say to you. Something that helped me understand the Major Arcana was “The fool’s Journey”. Perhaps you feel that the meanings are somewhat vague or many of them are repeated, keep in mind that many cards can mean different things depending on the other cards that accompany them.

🃏 The Fool:

Purity, spontaneity, credulity, innocence, free spirit, new beginnings, adventure, courage, originality.

Reversed: Hasty action, failure to measure risks, naivety, foolishness, insanity, chaos, poor judgment.

🃏 The Magician:

Power, intelligence, action, manifestation, eloquence, firm direction.

Reversed: Manipulation, poor planning, latent talents that are not yet known, hidden emotions, deceptions or scams, abuse of power, creative stagnation.

🃏 The High Priestess:

Intuition, higher powers, mysteries, listen to your fucking subconscious, self-confidence, spiritual insight, emotional stability, divination.

Reversed: Something that remains hidden from you, falsehood, disconnection with the interior, misuse of spiritual gifts, not trusting your intuition.

🃏 The Empress:

Abundance, the feminine, maternal figure, beauty, fertility, nature, motherhood, love, creativity, multitasking, opportunity for success.

Reversed: Blocked creativity, dependency, low self-esteem, laziness, lack of coordination at home, problems within.

🃏 The Emperor:

Authority, father figure, rigid structures, order, leadership, ambition, law, firmness.

Reversed: Exaggerated control, dominance, inflexibility, autocrat, obsession with control, weak or cruel man, corruption.

🃏 The Hierophant:

Religious spiritual, group work, you are ok with your current life, beliefs, can represent great institutions (ex: school), teacher or spiritual guide.

Reversed: Deny and suppress temptations, rebellious attitude, disagreement with some situation, unreliable teacher or spiritual guide.

🃏 The Lovers:

Harmony in relationships, equality of values, love crossroads, love story, fell in love, trust.

Reversed: Relationships in imbalance, disharmony, broken love story, infidelity, problems in the relationship, separation, relationship that ends.

Reversed: Loneliness, isolating from people or society, turning your back on someone, exile, sadness.

magic to protect the home

🗝 i recently got a new place and i’ve been coming up with all sorts of new wards and such for the new space (which has been so fun ahh) so i figured why not make a little list of things i’ve noticed have really great protective qualities for the home, i hope you guys find a few to string together for your personal home wards :)

- cinnamon; really great to shake up the energies after having troublesome visitors and bringing back the warm and cozy vibes

- rosemary; good for lightly refreshing stale energies, great for a new space or whenever you feel like things are sort of just stagnant in the house

- most black stones; particularly onyx, tourmaline, kyanite, obsidian, etc, are all great for either repelling/absorbing negative energies, just make sure you research which does what because you’ll wanna cleanse the ‘absorbers’ regularly!

- black pepper; similar to cinnamon it’s really good at getting rid of lingering energies from visitors, i’d say it’s a bit stronger for things like banishing and renewal though :)

- english ivy; really great for integrating good energy into the home and keeping it there, brings a grounded and secure energy to a home

- cayenne; really any red pepper is great for keeping out unwanted energies, also serves as a great restart button for particularly aggressive energies

- thyme; encourages civility in a chaotic household

- cacti thorns; careful getting these! but they’re amazing for keeping out unwanted energies, i wouldn’t recommend for cleansing necessarily though

🗝 there’s definitely so many more but these are the ones i’m most familiar with at the moment, so i might make a pt.2 eventually once i experiment a bit more, i hope this was helpful!

Why You Should Keep Track of the Tarot Cards You Pull

People will often notice patterns to the cards they pull - you’ll notice that certain cards come up more often. This tends to be based on a feeling though, rather than any real data about which cards you’ve pulled - and the real data may surprise you.

I’ve kept track of the cards I’ve pulled in my single card readings over the past three months, and here are some things I’ve noticed:

I pull one card more frequently than any other card. In my case, that card is The Magician. It’s really useful to know - not just suspect - that one card turns up constantly for me.

Some cards don’t actually appear as frequently as I think they do. I recently pulled the Nine of Pentacles and thought, “Again?? Why do I pull this card so much??” but when I look at the actual data… I’ve pulled other cards way more frequently. I think it’s a form of the Baader-Meinhof effect - a card can stick in your brain for some reason and you remember it as appearing more often than it actually does!

There are interesting things about the cards that I don’t pull. In three months, these Major Arcana cards have never come up at all: The Emperor and The Devil. I can look at the data of what archetypes don’t appear in my life and draw some interesting conclusions. I’ve also not drawn a single court card (page, knight, queen, or king) from the suit of swords - swords tend to deal with conflict, which I maybe have less of during this particular time in my life

I can identify which suit and which numbered cards appear the most and the least in my readings. While the totals of Swords, Wands, Cups, and Pentacles I pull are pretty close to even, Wands eke out a little bit higher total than the others. Cups and Pentacles are tied, with Swords coming in last. If I didn’t have this data, I’d probably assume I pull Swords the most - because they leave the biggest impact on me when I do pull them! Of the numbered cards: I pull Aces of any suit the most, and Twos of any suit the least. This makes for some interesting patterns: The Magician is sort of the “Ace” of the Major Arcana, as well. Aces are about a very singular willpower whereas Twos are about partnership and duality. Through this pattern I can identify the focus the cards have on my life at this particular point in time.

I pull Major Arcana cards more than is statistically likely. The Major Arcana makes up 28% of the deck, but 39% of my pulls. The Major Arcana are more associated with long-term messages, and so my life may have more long-term type changes needing to be made during this period.

This is a quick guide to how you might interpret some of the overall themes you notice:  Minor Arcana: temporary, easily changed, daily life, current situation Major Arcana: long term, archetypes, themes, life lessons, current lesson Wands: spirituality, inspiration, determination, strength, intuition, creativity, ambition and expansion; energy, motivation and passion. Cups: love, feelings, relationships and connection; emotions, intuition and creativity Swords: action, change, force, power, oppression, ambition, courage and conflict; thoughts, and words Pentacles: work, business, trade, property, money and other material possessions Aces: new beginnings, news, movement in a positive direction Twos: duality, connection Threes: creation, creativity, growth, action Fours: stability, structure Fives: tension, conflict, challenge Sixes: relaxation, harmony, reevaluation Sevens: mystery, disruption, adjustment Eights: action, movement, growth, change Nines: contemplation, reflection, looking to the next step Tens: conclusion, culmination, new beginnings, complexity Pages: youth, vitality, fascination, learning, and focus Knights: adventure, energy, missions, conviction, willfulness, recklessness Queens: curiosity, openness, expressiveness, creativity, flexibility Kings: authority, leadership, expertise, mastery, inflexibility

The Elements and their correspondences

E A R T H

image

Earth represents strength, grounding, prosperity, the material, wealth, success, foundations, death and rebirth. Focus on this element if the goal of your spell is about fertility, prosperity, business or stability. Earth spells may take longer to work, but they’re also more firm and are good if you’re looking for long-term solutions.

Air represents intellect and the mind, wisdom, knowledge; logic as well as abstract thought, intuition and higher consciousness. If you’re seeking freedom, travels, or to enhance your memory and focus - focus on Air spells! Air is whimsical and amiable, personally I haven’t found it useful for more serious spells, but it does wonders for my studies.

GENDER: Masculine SEASON: Spring DIRECTION: East HOUR: Dawn

COLOURS: Yellow, White, Sky Blue, Pastels ANIMALS: Birds, Spiders, Butterflies HERBS/PLANTS: Lavender, Birch, Vervain, Dill, Aspen INSTRUMENTS: Flute (Wind instruments)

STAR SIGNS: Gemini, Libra, Aquarius STONES/GEMS: Amethyst, Opal, Alexandrite, Beryl RITUAL TOOLS: Incense, Wand RITUAL FORMS: Fanning, Tossing into air, Suspending in a high place  TAROT SUIT: Swords

Fire represents energy, passion, purification, love, inspiration, desire, will, courage, power, leadership, sexuality. In spellcraft, focusing on Fire is good for purification, healing and love spells; it’s the best element for quick, strong spells. Although, Fire is fierce in essence, and Fire spells are susceptible - they should be well thought out.

GENDER: Masculine SEASON: Summer DIRECTION: South HOUR: Noon

COLOURS: Red, Orange, Gold ANIMALS: Snakes, Lions, Horses HERBS/PLANTS: Cacti, Cinnamon, Pepper, Basil INSTRUMENTS: Guitar (Stringed instruments)

STAR SIGNS: Aries, Leo, Sagittarius STONES/GEMS: Amber, Citrine, Ruby, Tiger’s Eye RITUAL TOOLS: Athame, Candles RITUAL FORMS: Burning, Smouldering, Heating TAROT SUIT: Wands

Water represents purification as well; though it’s focused more on the soul and the subconscious rather than the physical, material world. Water stands for emotion, intuition, wisdom, eternal movement, reflection, lunar energy. Focusing on the Water element is good for psychic abilities, getting in tune with your inner self, mysteries, friendships, love, dreams and sleep.

GENDER: Feminine SEASON: Autumn DIRECTION: West HOUR: Dusk

COLOURS: Blue, Indigo, Silver ANIMALS: Otters, Fish, Sea Mammals, Frogs HERBS/PLANTS: Lotus, Water Lilies, Aloe, Gardenia INSTRUMENTS: Cymbal, Bell (Resonant instruments)

Things to put in your book of shadows

Of course, only put in your book of shadows/grimoire what you want. If you don't want to put certain subjects in your book then that's fine. It's your book, utilize it how you want. This is just a masterlist of ideas that I've put together. Feel free to add anything else to the list that I may have missed, because there's absolutely no way I included everything.

And for the love of all the gods, if you come across a closed entity or practice, don't try to work with the entity or practice if you're not already part of that group or tradition. You can research it but don't practice it.
