digital art of a fantasy map, of the valley of thiria. the center has a massive lake, which isolates a peninsula, where the capitol resides. the valley is surrounded by dark mountainous peaks. population 76,000. thank you for checking out my art!

Map of Thiria

week 19 "the 402nd year dawns on the valley of thiria.. a land of snowy mountainous forests, as far as the eye can see, with small towns scattered across the land, united under the banner of the thirian empire (mostly). steep mountain peaks surround they valley's border, believed to be impossible to scale.. the thirians call this border 'the impasse', and have no idea what might lie beyond, but popular culture paints it as a 'land of storms', on account of the constant strong winds that blow in from the mountains. in this year, the empire, lead by king thiris, works to reclaim misenheim, a powerful trade city in rebellion. the civil war is at a standstill, now that the lake is uncrossable, and many wonder if the war will ever end.. but many are hopeful that a resolution will be reached soon" -the historian, 402sd hi hi! here is week 19. im not doing so well, so i just touched up some old unposted artwork. took 7 hours, and has only 25 unique colors. thank you for checking out my work, i hope you have a wonderful week! ♡

cyan digital art of a skeleton in gilded clothing, dancing around on a mountain of stolen wealth. he seems overwhelmed with gleeful hearty laughter, admiring a coin worth millions, held in his silky white glove, as money and rare jewels rain down all around him, his luxurious fur cape dragging behind him. he has dollar signs in his eyes, horns, and a white beard, hung from his cackling skull. he seems to be in a dark palace, illuminated only by the opulence of his vast wealth. art by kise akuta, day 2907

Baron Von Steuer

week 15! "nicknamed 'the tax collector' by the thirians of the valley, he is a wretched spirit of pure greed, valuing nothing besides his own wealth and riches.. he doesnt even realize hes dead, gleefully dancing around on his mountain of stolen wealth. few remember his life, but long ago, he was once one of the financial founders of misenheim, investing his whole fortune into it.. with its incredible prosperity, he made his investment back 100x fold, losing his mind to pure glee.. he made even the other barons seem poor. he practically owned the kingdom's wealth, and only wanted more. he pulled away from the valley, losing his mind and life to his wealth. for his whole life, he was a husk of a man, and now, he was even less than that. through his wealth, he managed to procure a method to extract 1% of the coin from every transaction in the valley, a tax almost matching that of the empire's, while contributing absolutely nothing.. a literal leech on the economy, contributing to the growing instability across the kingdom even at the end of the world, he went out of his way to take advantage of the situation, trading basic amenities for the fortunes of anyone trying to flee and survive. many were swindled out of their life's savings for what would be pocket change to the baron and his merchants. he is, without a doubt, the most hated individual in the valley, and there are groups dedicated to hunting him down in his elusive hiding place, and blasting his cackling skull to pieces" -the historian, 406sd hi hi! here is week 15! took me about 4 hours, and has only 144 unique colors. i figured ive been posting too many cutesy characters, so i wanted to draw a villain >:3. anyways, thank you for checking out my work! i hope you have a wonderful week ♡

digital art of misenheim castle, of thiria. the castle stands, lit before a starry night sky.. the moon is held between the castle's twin spires, and is lit aflame by a sinister ritual. the moon is cracked down the middle by this ritual, and the two casters, the queens of the castle, mad with power, intend to end the realm. the castle sits atop a mountain peak, surrounded by trees. at the foot of the castle stands four heroes, poised to save the realm. the whole art is in a dramatic cyan hue. art by kise akuta, 2905

The End of The World

"a thunderous crack rings out from the peak of misenheim castle.. the apocalyptic ritual that had been warned of for weeks, has finally come to pass.. any hope that the queens had been bluffing, quickly evaporates, as the moon.. along with the very earth itself, begins to fracture.

the entire kingdom shook, and the light from the moon began to dim. entire regions were blanketed in darkness, and countless buildings crumbled. thousands fled into the dimensional exit portals, hoping to escape with their lives.. the valley knew the end was nigh, and the king and queen embraced one another, ready to go down with the ship.

and yet, at the foot of the castle, stands four heroes. the only people to make it past the red army. the only ones who might stand a chance against the queens. the last hope for thiria..." -the historian, 404sd hi hi! here is week 5! took me about five hours, but im fairly proud of this one hehe. anyways, thank you for checking out my art! i hope you have a wonderful new year c:

Global Temperature by the Numbers

The Year

4th Hottest

2018 was the fourth hottest year since modern recordkeeping began. NASA and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration work together to track temperatures around the world and study how they change from year to year. For decades, the overall global temperature has been increasing.

image

Over the long term, world temperatures are warming, but each individual year is affected by things like El Niño ocean patterns and specific weather events.

1.5 degrees

Globally, Earth’s temperature was more than 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit warmer than the average from 1951 to 1980.

The Record

139 years

Since 1880, we can put together a consistent record of temperatures around the planet and see that it was much colder in the late-19th century. Before 1880, uncertainties in tracking global temperatures were too large. Temperatures have increased even faster since the 1970s, the result of increasing greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

Five Hottest

The last five years have been the hottest in the modern record.

6,300 Individual Observations

Scientists from NASA use data from 6,300 weather stations and Antarctic research stations, together with ship- and buoy-based observations of sea surface temperatures to track global temperatures.

The Consequences

605,830 swimming pools

As the planet warms, polar ice is melting at an accelerated rate. The Greenland and Antarctic ice sheets lost about 605,830 Olympic swimming pools (400 billion gallons) of water between 1993 and 2016.

8 inches

Melting ice raises sea levels around the world. While ice melts into the ocean, heat also causes the water to expand. Since 1880, sea levels around the world have risen approximately 8 inches.

image

71,189 acres burned

One symptom of the warmer climate is that fire seasons burn hotter and longer. In 2018, wildfires burned more than 71,189 acres in the U.S. alone.

image

46% increase in CO2 levels

CO2 levels have increased 46 percent since the late 19th Century, which is a dominant factor causing global warming.
