I Have This Disgusting Habit Of Making Weekly To Do Lists That Stress Me Out And Have Entirely Too Much

I have this disgusting habit of making weekly to do lists that stress me out and have entirely too much on them and then remaking that list about 2848573 different times. I also do it right before I go to bed to stress myself out. It's hard to stay organized this semester because all my classes are online + post at different times + have different length modules + I have to do things like read a textbook, but obviously there aren't due dates for that specifically.

-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_-_

Today was productive for being MLK Day.

○ wrote an initial discussion board post (4 solid paragraphs because the questions I had to thoroughly answer required that and my peers also thought so)

○ made 2 replies to that discussion board

○ walked one of my dogs

○ picked up a little coffee treat while socially distancing

○ completed a pre-quiz (I'm not worried so much how I did but more so how it'll be graded and whether I followed her strange uploading and answering directions)

○ cleaned up a laptop a little bit (I'm trying to rehab a dinosaur laptop so I don't have to be as limited by my chromebook)

○ read part of a book of Martin Luther King Junior's essays/speeches I have

Hahaha my aunt ended up coming over and a couple other things happened so I barely got through this list. At least I know what I'm doing tomorrow! Also, I had to sus through about 60 pages of content standards so oof

Today I Am Trying To Get Ahead With My Classes. My Classes Started This Past Wednesday And It Is Now

Today I am trying to get ahead with my classes. My classes started this past Wednesday and it is now Saturday. I feel very disorganized because my asynchronous classes have me completing modules, but not all of the due dates are posted. It's really hard to find a schedule, but I'm going to set that up today. Today I'm working on:

1) reading curriculum guidelines on online experiences

2) making my initial discussion post about it

3) finding an old algebra or geometry textbook in my basement to help me brainstorm ideas for the 5+ hours of related internet instruction I'll be creating for a class

4) setting up an outline of my first lesson plan

5) reading 2 short chapters for another class

6) watching a presentation

7) looking at a long term assignment

8) making another initial discussion post

*I'd work at my desk but my father currently has Netflix blaring and is snoring. I can still hear literally everything but this is the quietest room in the house. If I go near him I'm probably going to end up screaming at him about how impossible it is to work in this house. My state is currently in full shut down (no indoor dining, no libraries for studying, I'm not allowed on school campus, etc). I guess my room is as good as it gets.

Quando... avresti molto da dire ma a nessuno interessa la tua opinione...

😆😂🤦

First day of me actually doing school work. I'm really excited but also really nervous for this semester! I'm taking Reading in the Content Areas, Teaching in the Online Environment (how fitting... 😓), Environmental Statistics, and Design and Analysis of Experiment. All my classes are online and 3 are asynchronous. I'm really excited for the two education classes. I'd be lying if I felt confident about the stats classes. I'm not horrible with statistics but there are some red flags about how those courses are set up and I have a really hard time following one of the professors. I know it'll work out, but I'm still worried.

By an absolute miracle my gold capella schefflera bounced back from a fungal infection that it had at a grocery store. I had told my sister I wanted a yucca plant/tree whatever for my graduation/birthday gift. She panicked and grabbed my tree, which I named Ray. He's now been in my care for a little over 2.5 years 💚

Don't buy grocery store plants

This money tree looks so much better than mine! Mine is slowly bouncing back after I didn't keep up on watering it for a while.

The Pachira Aquatica “Guiana Chestnut” (sometimes sold as a “Money Tree/Money plant”) is Native to Central and South America and usually grows in swamps. It’s no coincidence that mine is doing so well in a small low light north facing window.

These houseplants are commonly sold smaller with braided trunks but in the wild this tree can grow up to 50 ft tall (this probably won’t happen in my home, but one can dream). I got this specific plant at a Costco for $28 in autumn.

Dark, light, grey, and science

Lmao I'm a mess 😂

academia types ✨✨

dark academia: you have 3 copies of to Kill a Mockingbird, you won't shut up your current obsession, you were too shy to answer questions in class even though you knew every answer. despite being super capable, you still wing a lot of tasks. also self-care but make it ~ edgy ~.

light academia: you're the teachers pet, but like in a good way? you probably tried to learn an instrument like the flute in school but haven't played it since, always holding iced coffee, works way better in an Organised Study Group with like minded pals.

pastel academia: all the coloured highlighters imaginable, and the neatest handwriting? studying anywhere BUT their room (cute café yes please), if you're nice to them they will fall in love with you, you probably haven't seen their natural hair colour.

grey academia: takes lots of notes but can they read them?, cried listening to Greta Thunberg in 1975's song, "gender is a social construct", surprisingly good at time management, probably short and angry, constantly trying to tell their parents how to be "woke."

classic academia: your cat is your best friend, always dreamt about having a bookstore café when you were older, definitely participating in goodreads reading challenge, you shock friends on your ability to always sleep on time, quiet until people get to know you (and discover you're ~quirky~)

science academia: you are not capable of liking things casually: it's all or nothing, constantly complaining about how difficult your subjects are but knowing this is exactly what you want to do, well practiced at pulling all-nighters, probably got some sort of nerdy/edgy tattoo.

1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 8ish (my ancient chromebook is not really compatible with zoom + a little programming). Online learning only made these even more apparent. My heart goes out for the kids in K-12 the most though. If this were to happen when I was in K-12 I probably wouldn't have passed my classes.

I feel that in the studyblr community nobody actively talks about the study environment some of us have, so shoutout to those students that:

• live with their parents (not everyone goes to college/uni where they have dorms, and even then, not everyone can afford it)

• have to deal with parents/family members constantly arguing in the background

• work / have to worry heavily about just getting by (paying rent, groceries, medication)

• need loud music to study and drown outside noises

• can not "study prettily" at coffee shops

• take care of other family members, and thus have to be ready to drop whaterever they are doing to assist them at any time

• can not concentrate or get "in the zone" no matter what they do

• do not have a personal computer/tablet

• do not have a room of their own

• are neurodivergent and the advice of most study masterpost/tips is not applicable.

You are valid, you are seen, you are not alone. If nobody has told you already: if you are trying the best you can then the best you can is good enough.

sincerely, a student who needed to hear this.

My disappointing watermelons from this past fall. In case you are wondering, they looked and tasted completely normal despite being smaller than they should have been.
